    "The WU is the way, the TANG is the slang." This quote from the RZA solidified the meaning for naming a group of 10 NY MCs as the WU TANG CLAN.
    It had made sense to them since martial art culture was already a part of their childhood entertainment. Compare this concept to that of Griselda and their use of pro wrestling snippets.
    Having snippets of martial art films strategically placed within tracks served to purposely amplify the group's Message......
    PEACE

    Dang I used to have some of these on VHS...
    36 Chambers of Shaolin, Snake & Crane Art of Shaolin and Shaolin vs Lama
    It was hard as hell to collect these joints back in the early 90's because you couldn't really look them up online and they titles have multiple names sometimes. You could only find these for a while at comic cons and like Frank & Sons where dudes was bootleggin' and slanging posters and stuff.
    That last on is also on Ghostface 1st solo joint.

      There's a karate and Kung fu place here with a deep library of flicks I poured through like crazy back then. Like you, I could only find so much online outside of 5 deadly venoms, shogun assassins (the snake n crane was an accidental find).
      Sheit I spent so much time trying to find these I almost feel like I'm cheating watching this lol 😁😁

      spainman2020 Seriously my dude!
      I went to Wizard con in Long Beach once and bought this Gordon Lui movie from a guy got home and it was the same as one of the others I already had but by a different name.
      What was cool about back then though was dude's that bootlegged them would fill the extra VHS space with some crazy Japanese cartoon or movies, etc.

    • @spainman2020
      @spainman2020 8 років тому +2

      Man you had bootleggers selling them at least, down here in Memphis folks weren't into the Wu like that, it was all word of mouth from like 3 dudes about which movies to check out and only one store that had any kind of decent kung fu library.
