We were there 2 years ago and they really needed to do something about the massive number of homeless people. It’s unfortunate but we will not be stopping there again.

You forgot to mention the gentrification and focus on tourism instead of on the locals and youth.

Moved out of Santa Fe in 2000, we go back every 4-5 years to visit family and feast on the awesome food….My kids are always bored out of their minds when we go there. (meow Wolf even got old to them) so yeah, it’s an adult destination, enjoy the food and culture and bring your waking shoes.

Some more big pros - Ski Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Opera. Also relatively close to Taos Ski Valley, and Angelfire, both of which have mountain bike lift access during the summer. ABQ 60 miles south.

Look I love New Mexico. My last trip to Santa Fe was one that made me want to finally move there, but I would not say that anywhere in New Mexico is a place that's known for their cuisine if you've ever been anywhere known for their cuisine

It is known for its cuisine, we are not the only folks who knows its not very good.

I am a native New Mexican. My family settled in Santa Fe in 1915. The cuisine they are speaking of is New Mexican which is unique to New Mexico. I believe that is what they are talking about. They are not claiming to be like San Francisco with Chinese, Italian, Greek, Thai, Japanese etc.

Relative to New Mexico, it is known for its food. No, it’s not going to compare to Portland Seattle, but try living in Arizona outside of Phoenix.
      Or 😊Farmington!

Nice pictures! The city has grown since we lived there in the early 90s, a beautiful place but hard to make a living.

No one who isn't affluent could live there. They would have to commute on the Rail Runner from Albuquerque or even Belen.

Gorgeous setting and vibrant culture are a plus. Heaven for nature lovers and outdoor people. But the deciding con for me are the cold and the high cost of living.

The other even greater drawback for us is the increasing socioeconomic class division in the "town." Wealthy "out-of-towners" have great homes (or second-homes!) in the far East and far West of the city, but the nearer SW of town is where the poorer folks live, work and struggle to get by (or drive up to work daily from cheaper Abq.) These people are people often Hispanic who once were the great majority o the population. They still who do the hard work for the least pay in most cases and economically furnish the conditions for the "good life" of the "rom elsewhere" wealthy in SF. Unlike the SF of decades ago, its more and more a town for the "precious" privileged many of whom live off their daddy's "trust funds." Real estate has gone through the roof, too. No longer is SF an enticing place to live because of this polarity and classism. Just go for few days visit.

@@jayreedy6244Very true! Plus traffic is terrible due to land values and no appetite for condemning property to do necessary road width expansions.

Better weather than Albuquerque but higher cost of living. Both have lousy international airports with incompetent politicians who follows the failed policies of California. Host is ready to go to a night club to do her part time job but there isn't one.

Santa Fe has two societies: the people who serve the rich, and the rich who get served. I lived there and saw it first hand. The wealthy fly in on their private jets, and run amok while the locals struggle to survive.

Honestly, this video doesn’t deliver on its title. No one will make a decision to live in Santa Fe based on chapel stairs and Meow Wolf. You might want to tighten the focus on things that matter to people. Cost of living, year-around weather information, traffic, schools, activities for people of all ages, stores people need, churches, airports, etc.

It’s a “destination” city for those with money and the people who have it. She did mention that the population is older and that there are a lot are retired people. Her first con was the cold weather in winter. Her second con was that the average home price was $600,000…

One big con is the altitude, some people cannot handle such higher elevations ...and the drunks and the needles.
The fitness centers are many and decent.
