Marvel has been going full throttle with their content output in Phase 4. With show after show after show hitting Disney Plus in the past year, some people are saying that superhero fatigue may finally be setting in. So putting out a new series about a character people aren’t super familiar with, starring a newcomer actress was always going to be a challenge, no matter how well-reviewed the show was.
Ms Marvel does raise some questions though. Like does every single teenager boy have a crush on Kamala? Why is this Damage Control department so bad at their jobs? Does everybody just have elaborate exposition presentations ready to go? What’s up with the sudden time travel? How long did those kids have to rig up the entire school Home Alone style?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Ms Marvel! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

"THE WORLD IS AT STAKE?"
"It rarely isn't sir"
Summed up every superhero movie to ever exist
💯💯💯. Indeed
Not the Batman movies.
Like Buffy would say it must be Tuesday. I think Supernatural made the same joke about Thursday
To be fair, it was kind of unclear if they meant that the world was at stake or just Karachi.
@ swap world with gotham
Wait til they get to Batgirl. "So, you have a new movie for me?" "No."
Discovery are probably looking to murder Blue Beetle
"Very cool wait what!"
So how are we releasing that? Super easy barely an inconvenience.
Wow wow wow wow wow
Not releasing a 90 million dollar movie is tight!
"Maybe the real skeletons were inside us all along..." is the greatest line this series has ever produced. And it just came out of nowhere. I am going to spend the next 20 years attempting to work that into a conversation naturally. I will succeed or die trying.
Whether you succeed or fail, it would really be cool if you turned into a skeleton right afterwards, so please give it some thought.
Those are from Halloween! Was a good twist as well
Succeeding or die trying is tight!!
I think eventually people will just start calling you an idiot, if you kept saying it.
Don't mind me just casually joining you on your magnificent journey
0:40 The “Oh no” joke after hearing that she has a brother is genius next level of comedy. Definitely did not see that coming
Are you being sarcastic? That looks and reads like pure sarcasm
Twist ending!
@@jordanbomb32 hey ima need you to get all the way off my back lol
Yes coz people from their community most commonly marry their own sisters! 😂😂😂
@@samratsm5660 What?
Let's take a moment to appreciate that we got "super easy, barely an inconvenience"...twice in this one. 😀
"Maybe the skeletons were inside us all along". Hilarious! 💀
The "skeletons" line might be my favorite in all the pitch meetings.
That delivery of the “real skeletons were inside us all along” line was absolute perfection.
those are from Halloween!
I laughed out loud at that!
That line played as I read this comment 😂
Literally the laziest throwaway joke possible, and he makes fun of himself for stooping that low. Are you sure you understand the premise of these?
It will be when it fits a woman.
The entire Ms. Marvel show kind of feels like a Role Play game.
Everyone you meet tells you exactly what you need to know (so you don't have to investigate or find answers on your own), people you meet give you your gear and everything you need (so you don't have to craft it yourself), and people you know tell you where you need to go (so you [again] don't need to figure things out by yourself).
Basically Kamala just goes through her "adventure" and is told everything she needs to know, given everything she needs, and is taken everywhere she needs to be, by other people. And then to top it all off the main problems she faces is also solved (mostly) by other people (or through dumb luck) for her.
It's like a Hardy Boys mystery novel, where the protagonist plays a peripheral role in their own story.
It's the commie globalist cuck way.
Yup.. and the love triangle plot happens anyway, even if your Charism is 3... ;)
Sounds like a true representation of a Gen Z'er.
That's just everyday life for any woman under 30.
I bet that "maybe the real skeletons were inside us all along" was shot multiple times because Ryan couldn't resist laughing while saying it.
It's a toss-up between that and: "those are from Halloween!" as the highlight of this episode.
The Clandestine's going from pretty kind people, wanting Kamala's help, then becoming the most cartoonishly evil, braindead villains in Marvel was a bit of a shame. Especially since the flip was in no time at all.
Oh no, Marvel terrible writing stikes again. Who wouldve thought
Par for the course for Marvel recently. Nearly every villain has been someone with a legitimate problem or concern about the world who decides to be a complete psychopath at the drop of a hat just because
should've just not included them and focused on the DoDC as the bad guys
@@claytonandres1194 I think this has especially been true of the shows. They always seem so promising then falter at the end for me. I think I could say I liked Loki the most all the way through but even then I feel some potential was lost.
I mean, I was under the impression they were just pretending to be nice
So over the course of this series, the screenwriter guy got so much more confident that he now simply says "Hey, shut up!" to the producer guy instead of politely asking him to get all the way off his back about stuff. Now that's character development!
Character development is tight!
😂💯
Boy, I bet its going to be hard for him to keep dodging questions about plot holes
@@DrakeyC Actually it'll be super easy -- barely an inconvenience!
@@Jeremy-Bearimy Oh really?
Pitch meetings are frequently way better than the shows they're based on! Ryan provides a real time saving alternative to watching actually watching the crap Disney churns out.
This is exactly what I'm discovering. Every time I see "spoiler alert" I think, "fantastic". I get to watch a insipid Hollywierd production, be far more entertained, and have it done in 7 minutes.
Because Ryan is a better writer than most actual Hollywood writers
Ryan is a comedic genius. His delivery is impeccable
0:20 Ryan's fear and then relief at the end were priceless
Feeling fear followed by instant relief is tight.
Momentary fear that they were making one of those "they're not related by blood" shows, and then he realized he wasn't in Japan.
i literally laughed out loud on that!!😄😄
Wrong time though. It's 00:41
he likes merch he wasnt afraid of it. you just dont get it
Kamala's true superpower is the ability to talk villains out of their evil plan with a well-timed sentence or two during the climactic fight.
Or maybe it's LAZY WRITING!
Same for Thor lol
It's Naruto all over again.
Ah!! You mean the legendary "Talk no jutsu"?
True. People listening to others in 2022 does seem a bridge too far.
“And she also has this brother”
“Oh no!” 😂 0:42
Whoever wrote the exchange at 3:50 needs a raise. Fucking Brilliant.
"Those are from Halloween!" That one got me there. Producer man knows all the references.
He's a producer. I'm glad he's such an expert to catch all these references.
“They’ve been waiting 80 years and couldn’t wait a few more minutes for her to think about it?” Legit thought the same thing 😂
You both thought something rather stupid, they weren't "waiting" for 80 years they were hunting for 80 years.
@@johnsimth6587 OH! Hunting! Well by golly now it all makes sense!

(The next day) "Kill her and her entire family. Make sure it's in a large, crowded dance hall so she can see us coming and escape."
Why’d they ask for help them instead of instantly capturing her when the first met her or when she said she’d think about it. Weren’t the on their turf when that happened? Why would they wait for a super public event to attack her when they could’ve done it earlier?
Love how quickly you say: "Hey shut up." That's hilarious! 😂😂😂
The Ms Marvel, miss Marvel nostalgia joke was next level.
“And she has a brother rameer”
“Oh no”
“And he’s about to get married soon”
“Thank god”
I can’t with Ryan 🤣🤣🤣
I spit my drink laughing at this. I then lost 10 minutes of work trying to repair my laptop, but worth it nonetheless.

I don’t understand…
“And she has a brother named Aamir”
“Oh no”
“And he’s about to get married soon”
[Producer Squints in apprehension]
“To a woman named Tyesha Hillman”
“Oh Thank God”
@@terrenced.1586 Well, every male introduced thus far had a crush on the main character. The producer was afraid that her brother's character's defining characteristic would be a crush on his own sister. So producer was relieved when it wasn't.
"They take the clandestines into custody"
"Is it gonna be hard for them to break out?"
I like how it's not even questioned for them
Ineffective prisons are tight.
Those are from Halloween!
Police hanging around outside the school is by far the most realistic part of the series!
I love the part where he’s like
“And Bruno says she has a mutation”
“:0 that’s the word from the other thing” lol
"THOSE ARE FROM HALLOWEEN!" broke me. That and "Maybe the real skeletons were inside us all along."
Same! 🤣 I laughed out loud loudly!
The Avengers pitch meeting has a spooky skeletons meme, when he asks what kind of scary villain is going to jump out from the tesseract portal doorway thingy.
That and the fact that producer guy thinks that clouds are the scariest thing ever, and every movie should end with "CGI and a skybeam" is one of my favorite running jokes from this master of comedy.
I know this is super lame but can someone please explain the Halloween joke for me. I never watched those movies and have no idea why that line is so funny.
@@lacountess Whimsical non-sequitur?
Comedy often subverts expectations.
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To avoid the slaughterhouse.
Subverted expectation. I am not saying that is a hilarious joke or anything. It is maybe just a good example to explain what I am trying to say.
Also, there are some pitch meetings where producer guy is apparently afraid of spooky skeletons and clouds. So maybe that too?
@@py_a_thon Thank you for answering but I'm still confused 😆Are you saying the joke has nothing to do with the Halloween series of movies?
"Maybe the skeletons were inside them all along". Nice! It's so gratifying to see Producer Guy's progress since that counseling he took in the middle of the Mandalorian Pitch Meeting. What a beautiful human being he has turn into, just like the skeletons.
Like DUH!
Character development.
it was a beautiful moment
The skeleton line is still my favorite from pitch meetings, a year later
'But her parents are super strict'
'So they honour kill her for not wearing a niqab'
'No, they make her a superhero outfit'
I'm actually surprised he didn't go all the way in and said "Damage control is actually the guys who cause all the damage in the show"

My main wtf of the show was, as noted, the fact that they attack Miss marvel 1day after having her agreeing to help.
They’ve been waiting 80years … They take the scam approach, plant one of them into her high school playing the long game, they somehow succeed and …. just throw it all out the window just because they couldn’t wait for a wedding to end.
Thats the power of bad writing. Marvel seems to hate good writing these days for some reason.
@@taags it's bc Louis's Van was destroyed... it symbolized the good left on him, once it was destroyed it was like as if the world didn't make any sense anymore... and that's why the new movies have so much plot holes
This show needed two more episodes. Too much was just shoved in with no explanation. Why was the lady Damage Control officer so bloodthirsty and eager to kill? Was she an Islamophobe? Someone she loved died in the Battle of New York and she blames metahumans? Just five minutes of character development would show us why she ignored orders and created a massive incident.
In fairness “I just need a little time” was what Aisha said too, right before she screwed the others over for decades.
I brought this up in another video and someone actually tried to defend the terrible writing. They believed that it made complete sense to rush into attacking her and when the main Djinn killed her grandma without interrogating her or following where she had just come from without the bangle.
The "has a crush on her" was really well done to set up the brother bit.b

I think the only reason they changed her powers from Mr. Fantastic with a dash of shape-shifting to Green Lantern was literally just for the Marvels movie. Even though the powers weren't the most flattering for a teenage girl, that worked to make her feel more relatable, plus the shape-shifting is just a fun power set.
