I recommend using the Mann HU 6013 Z Oil filter, its higher quality trapping more contamination than the Audi factory filter. Glad to see you're using the 504.00 Audi rated motor oil, too many people have no idea this is required.
Some think dumping any 5W40 Oil is fine, they have no idea they need to find a European car motor oil with the 504 rating. This is big reason why you never go to a quick lube or corner garage for service.

Keep in mind these come with two different oil specs one for the DBPA ( 190 hp FWD) and the CYMC (250 hp). Apparently as per the dealership my engine the dbpa b cycle engine uses oil spec 0w20. I purchased mine from the dealership since I was having trouble finding compatible oil locally. Research before you start pouring whatever oil into your vehicle 😉

Hello! You can change the oil at anytime (as long as it’s within the interval the manufacturer stated). I personally do not like waiting a long period between oil changes as my car is exposed to stop/go traffic as well as different seasonal temperatures. I like to change it every 5,000 miles even though the recommended interval is 10,000 miles

Hi Kelvin! I'm glad it worked out for you and hopefully it was an easy process! I did have some difficulty in the beginning but the trick is to hold the base with your legs and then use both hands to turn the top lid. Since it's vacuum sealed, it takes some force to get it off

Do you ever pull the plug at the bottom of the engine for any of the oil changes? Sort of to allow anything that settled at the bottom of the oil pan to escape say every other or so oil changes? I believe the oil plug is plastic so I’d understand why you wouldn’t want to risk stripping it.

Hey @drunkenman8! I'd recommend getting one that can extract 6 liters at the minimum. When I extracted the oil, I noticed I had about 5.75 to 6 liters (close to 6 quarts of oil). It was overfilled by the previous owner. You could use the 5.3 liter extractor (roughly 5.5 quarts) but you might have to pour out the contents once the container is full and then re-attach the pump to double check if there's any oil left. Hope that helps!

    • @paull3179

The oil and filter are easily over $100 not $40. My S4 takes 6.2 litres. I let Audi do it as they do a though inspection too for around $350 while the oil change alone would be about $200. Not worth my time and the hassle of proper disposal wasting more time to get that done. One of other sports cars takes about 9 litres I think.

If you change your oil frequently you should not have sludge? The oil drain plug will not remove most of this either. To clean sludge you should oven the valve cover and drop the oil pan. In some cars the oil plug actually sits above the very bottom so extraction can actually get more then normal.

    • @DIYDetail
      @DIYDetail  3 роки тому +2

Thank you for sharing this! It seems like most comments are concerned about sludge but as you pointed out, keeping up with maintenance shouldn’t cause this to happen in the first place. I’ve linked videos in the description where other UA-camrs have physically done this comparison and it’s almost identical in terms of how much oil is removed. If you have sludge, that’s a bigger problem

@@DIYDetail This is a bigger issue for all VW-Audi engines than other makes due to their poor design (high wear rate).

I don’t know why I pay $240 at Audi for an oil change😳

Oil alone is about $30 to $40 and oil filter about $8 to $15, let me know where you get the oil and filter for $30 😂😂

Actuallt it is recommended for european cars. I have an european car and in the instruction manual they recommend for castrol

If you look closely, you can literally see the sticker that says castral on the front. This is what they want you to use, but I use AMSOIL 5w-40 in my audi a4.

Worst method ever 😂😂😂you never extract all old oil from the bottom all rubbish stays on the oil pan
    Standard method the best

If the extractor can't get it out the oil pickup won't either. That's why you do it with the oil hot and "rubbish" in suspension.
