- In this video, I'll show you guys how to plastic-dip the emblems and get a somewhat glossy look. Overall, it wasn't hard to do but I'm just not a fan of the rubber texture that it gives. I'll keep it for now but will probably remove and replace with gloss black smooth emblems at a later time!
Tools needed:
1. Painters tape: amzn.to/3kP7OCB
2. Plastic sheet or newspaper
3. Black plastic-dip: amzn.to/3fDgGxC
4. Plasti-dip glossifier: amzn.to/3SsEnY5
5. Microfiber towel
6. Toothpick

Great work man here are some tips for yall who want to do this. Before anything clean the area very well you don't want anything landing on your paint or else u will need to start all over. Second put your can of paint into a bucket with hot water from the sink this will warm up the paint inside the can giving you a much smoother finish. Third shake the can well over a minute to mix the warm pain inside and make sure to wipe any water on the can. Slowly mist the emblems not heavy or anything you will need to do 4 to 5 coats. After the first coat let them dry for about 15 minutes and put your can back in the hot or warm water. Keep doing this till you are satisfied 😌with your results doing more coats will be much easier to remove and will also last longer.
This is a great tip! I’ve heard about the warm water in a bucket trick. Have you tried it? Did you get smooth results? It’s been a few months and I was able to give it a few washes removing most of the debris but the textured look is still there
@@DIYDetail yes totally works and reduces that texture we call orange peel lol 😆 definitely recommend it leave it the warm bucket for a little over a minute and you will get better results since it's rubber it warms up.
Awesome tips thank you
Amazing tutorial vids. One of the best vids on YT. No BS straight to work. Thanks.
Great video! Appreciate this channel!
Great video! Would I be able to peel the paint if I used normal spray paint? Instead of plasti dip? A different colour spray? Do I have to apply something to the areas I don’t want paint?
I'm sitting on eBay right now with all the gloss black badges in my cart lol. Would you say you would've been better off getting the parts to avoid the rubber look you spoke about?
Awesome job! Will you be doing a video about the door trim? Did you use plasti dip or vinyl wrap or something else?
I did the window trim using vinyl wrap but sadly wasn’t able to get good angles while recording :/ I did mess up on one trim so I will redo it at a later time and hopefully get good angles!
where did you get spoiler?
Cool done, only the quattro logo I would not have done because it's already black
Nice! Did it come with the car? I really wish I had the official emblems but they are quite expensive haha
@@DIYDetail yes true, they are quite expensive, but the quattto emblem on your car is already pretty black I mean 🙂 maybe it was not need to spray them
So you can just easily peal off the excess? It doesn’t stick to the paint of the car? Do you have to prep the excess area so it’ll easily peal off?
And does that mean that this is also easily pealed off for the actual emblems also?
Thanks!
It easily peels off, I just wanted to avoid looking for overspray so I masked off the car (aggressively). It’ll peel off the emblems just as easily too but it will survive pressure washers (1 year strong and no problems with peeling yet)
Hey did you wrap the front grille also in black?
Hey! I wrapped the lower grille chrome in black but I swapped my entire front grille out for an RS style grille!
Amazing job! Quick question: Would that be pressure washer resistant?
Thank you! Yes so far it’s been resistant to the pressure washer and the wash mitts
So there isn’t a need to tap around precisely since it peels
You don’t need to tape around it but it makes the clean up process easier at the end
Does this stuff come off from a car wash?
So far it’s been 1 year and still holding up well. It’s starting to peel around the inner ring but not to a point where I need to redo it
Debadge everything except the rings
I’ve thought about it but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I’m torn between the two looks to be honest lol
