CHEAPEST Oil Change on a 2017 Audi A4 B9 // Quick & Simple Oil Change DIY Guide

- Опубліковано 19 вер 2019
- Hey guys, in this video we are doing our first #oilchange on the 2017 #Audi A4. This DIY will go through the process step by step, extracting the oil instead of draining. We found this procedure to be much easier and cleaner than lifting the car and draining from underneath. The Audi dealer will typically change $95 for the oil change, where as we spent only $30 excluding tools. Total price with the tools turned out to be around $70 which is still better then the #stealership. Hope you find this video useful, please share like and subscribe.

That rubber piece you pulled off the smaller hose is the fitting you use to join the hoses. You might have not gotten all of the oil because of a poor pipe to pipe seal. Did mine this weekend and got 5 L plus. Also it is a good idea to pump again after removing the filter. That oil leaks back down to the pan.
As a fellow B9 A4 owner, your videos are great and have helped me a lot! Thanks!
cheers dude. only had my b9 for like 6 months and havent changed the oil yet. helpful video! my b9 as probably only had maybe 2 oil changes as the km's are pre low.
Great video!
I’m 20 saving every penny so by next year I can bless me with a 2019 Audi A4 next year n I’m manifesting it definitely gotta mod it a lil bit n definitely gotta get the Quattro
Can you share the links to where you bought the oil filters?
your tip to slightly loosen the filter housing is a good one. I noticed the extractor pulled more oil out of the sump when you did so!
A little trick I’ve learned from doing my oil change in my A4 is when your putting the suction tube down the dip stick tube your going to meet some resistance and it hits a little level if you push down a little more with not to much pressure you’ll pass that lever and it’ll feel like a click and you be able to extract more from the oil pan
that's exactly what I was going to say when i did my oil change i felt the little resistance and i pushed a little bit more and felt the click and all the oil came out perfectly
Just wonder you ever have changed automatic transmisson fluid lately? it suppose to be change due 40k miles
How do you expect to extract the debris at the bottom of your oil pan pumping it from the dipstick ?
Great content guys! I also do Castrol for my Passat 👍
Thanks for watching!
I pushed a the tube too far into the sump, and burned off a 2” section of hose. Had to lift the engine to pull the pan. Was a ridiculous pain in the ass. Lesson learned, don’t push the tube any further to try and get all the oil out.
Hie just wanted to know that does your front bumper sensors beeps cause of tow hook licensing plate?
Mess free nice video
Ill try it at home
Thanks for watching!
that was very informative. Great video as usual. So far since owning my a4 with 26k mile ive spent 60$ for my second oil change with an audi dealer coupon i found online, and the first one is always free. But i think i might start doing 5k intervals too.
Awesome, thanks you for watching our videos. Definitely recommend doing it yourself, you’ll save some money and very clean process with the extractor
Great video! can you do a video on replacing Brakes? Rotors?
Thanks for watching, yeah we would once it comes to time for replacing them
Very good price for the oil👌
Compared to our prices in germany😭
Greetings from germany😋 (a5 b8 3.0tdi driver)
Thanks for watching!
Ich fahr auch ein Facelift A5 B8 3.0 TDI. Bester Motor
Thanks man for your video. My Audi care just ended.
Thanks for watching!
Anybody know how you change the front turn signal light bulb A4 2017 The one inside the headlight
Thanks for the video, it's helpful to see an alternate method of extraction the oil out. I have a question: where do you dispose the old oil?
take it to any auto store, such as Autozone or O'Reiley. They will recycle it!
To lengthen that extraction tube, you just plug the tube into the black rubber grommet you took off. This creates the seal needed as the oil can get sticky.
Yes.. This is correct. You need to insert the additional tubes into those black adapters/attachments to get 100% suction.
Otherwise good DIY video
Thanks
Very good video
Thanks!
Best looking A4 out there!
Thanks!
So is this method better than going underneath the car?
What's the oil filter part number?
What about with out the pump
Pretty informative video! I didn’t knew that such pump existed.
However, I do see a one slight problem.
That electronic level shows you approx 1liter of oil between min and max marks and if you go past that “max” it won’t tell you that, unlike the regular metal stick that is actually supposed to go in that socket you’ve used to drain the oil.
With this in mind and the fact that there’s definitely some oil left at the bottom of the engine it seems like chances of over-filing it are pretty high.... basically you don’t know all the variables to do the math.
To protect yourself from overfill I would probably add ~3 liters at first and then incrementally add small portions of around 150-200ml, while checking level each time (no need to start a car for that)
Well done. I just got one of these as well, is there no dipstick to verify the oil level? Just the electronic sensor? I’ve never used an oil extractor, but that is super awesome. I would look forward to changing oil.
Awesome, congrats on your purchase. There is not but you could get an aftermarket one. We bought some and can do a video on those if you’d like. And yes changing oil with the extractor is so much easier!
How much did you spend on those body parts ? This is the best looking A4 I've seen.
About 4K Thanks for watching!
Dude can u leave here the link to buy the same grill and the same sidemirror turn signal please,
Yes, please check out our store which is linked in the description
@@BurningRubberr i think the link its broken or something like that because i all ready try but the main page has an error
I thought you had to keep pumping with the extractor
Will u buy a rear diffuser?
Yeah we were planning on it
Omgooodness... Please tell me that you put oil back in the engine before turning the vehicle towards the street.. PLEASE!!!!
Good Video
Haha, yes sir we did!
Hi why does the Audi use oil wile in traffic?
The reason you only got 4 quarts extracted is because extracting oil like that is not a great way of performing an oil change. You are leaving a fair amount of old oil still inside the drain pan. It is reccomended to properly drain all of the oil out to ensure all the old oil is out. And your car is not burning oil. Its a brand new A4. Regardless of stop and go traffic...
Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!
Burning Rubber just looking out... sweet ride
Thanks!
He didn't get all the oil because he didn't use the extractor correctly. The tubes should have been connected using the black piece on the end of the tube extension
Hotter the motor is better when you do this.
The oil should be at the middle of the measuring level. If
This way of changing the oil goes for all cars - always!
Hi do u get hard down shift
No, it shifts pretty smooth I’d say
cheap prices. At the same store in Canada that oil is about $55 per jug. I do my S4 at the dealer. Full detailed checkup and oil change is about $350 and oil change alone would be around $200 which is not much and not worth my time and the hassle of proper disposal. A proper filter is around $30+.
If not a secret how much is the front bumper trim?))
Only $100

Please fix that crooked "r" in quattro
Haha, we will attempt to do so with out damaging it😁
I use water dispenser pump for water bottle, to xtract, it cost 10$us from alixpress, 8litres of 5w-40,56$us,, valvoline, filter5$us,from alixpress, all change my 3audis,all v8 4.2engine,a8, a6, great easy job
Note to whoever follows this procedure, you cannot use a hose this large, otherwise you will wind up with exactly this problem of not getting all of the oil. His hose is hitting the top of the hole on the windage tray that the dipstick passes through. Only way to get past that is to use the smallest hose in the kit, and it usually takes about 10 minutes longer to get the oil out using the small hose. You will however get 5.2 liters of oil out without a problem.
So this car doesn't come with a normal dipstick?
Correct
I have a 2017 A4 B9 and the sticker say to use VW 50800 which is 0w-20. I had the dealer corroborate this. Is this wrong?
Nope, that one can actually be used as well
Can I just drain the oil from the bottom ? I would feel more comfortable draining the oil from the bottom like any other car.
Yes, it can be drained from the bottom as well
That's all very well but you will still leave about a pint of dirty oil in the sump, and that will generate around your engine !
How many miles do you have?
Any problem at all?
20k and no issues
I bought a 2017 a4 premium s line black and brown interior with 24k miles,for $23,500
edi sick deal is it under warranty? Where did you get it?
At audi millburn in New Jersey and it is under the warranty for another year.
edi oh nice I’m in Mass do you know how much it would cost to extend the warranty?
the rubber hose that was on the ground was all cover in debris and stones that you just introduced to the engine. I do not know why people do not drain the oil. That is why there is an oil drain plug ... Also your car is parked at a slight degree on the drive way. The incline won't help with oil extraction...
Hmm, interesting. Since my B9 A4 goes with Castrol 5W-40.
You can use either or
Probably safe either way I’d stick with the 504 00 on the newer models where they made the switch, but I have a Golf R with the EA888 and it takes 502 00 so I’d believe you aren’t going to blow it up with the 0w40 or 5w40
the. manual says SAE 5W-40 for the 2019+ A4
5k miles is too quick, you are throwing away oil in good condition. As an european guy and as far as my car knowledge goes you change oil between 13-17k km. In your car settings you have most earlier reminder 10k miles for a reason! And if u want quality oil go for Mobile1 or Motul oil... When you pour oil in you have to dirve the car or at least run the engine. Your oil lever would definitely dropped a bit!
We rather be safe then sorry and replace it earlier
@@BurningRubberr On that we can agree both on! Safe driving :)
I would never recommend driving over 10k km without changing oil. Every single manufacture now says that it is fine to change oil 15k-20k km but over the long run you really are harming your engines longevity.
@@brandon918 not true. The oil will be just fine at the manufacturer intervals. The exception would be if you're constantly driving hard.
Everyone: looking at the Audi
Me: constantly looking at the Lexus
The crescent wrench is bigger then your arm
Haha 😂
Should be cautious using the edge European in the B9 EA888 my 2019 calls for VW 504 00 5w30. Putting a 40 weight oil in an engine designed for 30 could be a mistake. Audi recommends the Castrol Edge Professional LL03 which meets that spec. Don’t mess up your engine over $30 or $40 / oil change.
Thanks for watching, we were following the owner’s manual and got that info from there.
Burning Rubber I’ll help some owners out here since according to Audi service manuals you can’t use the cheaper Wal-Mart 0w40 Castrol Edge European in every B9 variant of the EA888.
Directly from the Audi maintenance schedules:
MY2016 B9: 502 00 5w40, 5w30 or 0w40
MY2017 B9: 502 00 5w40 (only weight mentioned)
MY2018 B9: 502 00 / 504 00 5w40 (only weight mentioned)
MY2019 B9: 504 00 Castrol 5w30 LL03
MY2020 B9: 504 00 Castrol 0w30 LL03
Burning Rubber Also if you’re unable to extract 1+ quart every change you might want to just throw it on some jack stands and drain the oil traditionally that’s a lot of used oil to leave in the pan every change.
@@arthurdavis9995 ^this. I work for Audi/VW in Germany, no one pumps the oil out like this. On the bottom of your oil drain you still has deposits and you want as much dirty oil as possible.. but still a good video!
Aaach du Scheiße, they make us super simple with plastic drain plug that you can simply remove with a flat head screw driver! I do my own on my Golf R and A5 is quick and cost only about $70 USD for a change when you use the Castrol Professional.
Hold on hold on !!! Did you drive the car after you got some oil!!!
Haha, no we filled it back up😁
Burning Rubber sounds good 😂
Why change at 5000 miles just cause its a German car?
They make the best engines.
I'd be careful following this video he did not get all of the oil out of his car.
Not everybody is going to purchase an extraction pump to change their oil.
5000 miles, dont be ridiculous... 10000 miles is fast enough, modern european cars only require 12500 miles
Don't want a rod knock, Thanks for watching!
5k is the sweet spot don’t fall for that 10k oil changes
This is ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and buy a Lexus next time.
word cheap or cheapest should not go with any luxury car. buy a damn Kia next time
He’s using good quality oil and products, doesn’t really matter.
Lol. Liqui moly only
