I just want to say thank you for putting out these videos. I'm just finishing up my first cosplay as the white power ranger. I've been following this guide religiously. The results speak for themselves!
How many magnets do you need to keep the pieces from separating? Do you have a rule of thumb for how many per inch? The one I am making has a faceplate i want to make detachable.
What is the size of the drill bit you used? I am working on this exact helmet and trying to figure out which bit to go buy to make the spots for the magnets.
Could you use a bump helmet chin strap to secure the helmet to your head better? Getting one of Villianous Props helmets to use in airsoft. So making sure it stays on my head I wonder if a chin strap would work along with foam.
I just bought my first 3d printed helmet for a cosplay and I was beating myself up on how to attach the back plate. This video solved my issue at such an easy low cost way. Ty!
I know this is a very late response but I have the same magnets and epoxy putty but when I put it in my helmet the magnets don't want to connect. I have it flush and the magnets aren't covered with putty so I'm not sure what's going on. Any thoughts? Great video and keep it up.
I’m having a really hard time getting the magnets to stick into the putty. They always come out anytime I attach the back piece. I let it dry all night too. Used the exact same putty you have in this video.
Hey man, great work really! I’m using MJF HP 3D printing to make parts is your technique works with such parts? I want ti paint it with high quality finish same as injection molding
Love your content it’s helped me a lot with my printing . I recently downloaded your free red hood helmet and was wondering if the file is only as a whole helmet as couldn’t seem to see a split with the separate backplate , cheers .
I can't believe those tiny magnets hold the back piece on, that's crazy! i purchased 1mm magnets not realising how small they were and i couldn't stop laughing, they were surprisingly somewhat powerful
I know I'm late but I'm just getting into the cosplay scene and I just bought this exact helmet and I'm gonna follow your tutorials to get it ready for march
Amazing Video Series!!!! Used this to paint my Darth Revan helmet & made a project out of it with my girlfriend! Thanks so much for going through all the steps & explaining everything! Can't wait for Halloween! I think this might end up becoming a hobby of mine!
I have finished painting my helmet, I was wondering if I can find a way to send you a photo, to show you my first attempt. Now I am just waiting for my led lights to come, then I will start on the interior. I was curious on the magnets, the bit where you like the magnets but they look clunky, besides the look, would way still work well, I wanted to try keep it simple for my first attempt, because I am new with magnets :)
@@3DPrintedProps my apologies! I thought that was just a link for the smaller magnets you used in your final solution. Thanks! Blown away at how great the finish is on your piece.
@@3DPrintedProps all good! I just got a notification that my helmet shipped. Only took a week for me. Btw, thanks so much for making these tutorial videos! Definitely gonna follow all the steps on perfecting a 3D helmet.
Sorry but why when we us try to home to reply the operation with every type of magnets don’t work ? I think every video in youtube about this is totally fake , is one year I try with big magnets a lot of small magnets and don’t work or in America they have the super mega little magnets us don’t have in Europe or is fake video ☝️
Great video as usual. Do you have a link to the magnets you used? (Website/size/strength?)
Oops. I'll add it today. Thanks.

Awesome man, glad they helped. :)
Wow, your method of using magnets is much easier than other methods I've watched, thanks for this
Where did you get the elastic
That hinge, where did you get that? Thanks
Great looking model!
Make a predator mask that would be awesome step by step.
Predator mask pls
Yes!!

How did the JB Weld hold up on the magnets over time?
Hi, how to make a "custom" cut like that? not just a slice.
tks
Seby
Nice. I didn't realize that hinges can be as easy as a piece of elastic.
Yep, You can use elastic or any nylon strap. :)
What is the size of the drill bit you used? I am working on this exact helmet and trying to figure out which bit to go buy to make the spots for the magnets.
Question, what type of drill bit did you use and where can i get one? I tried a regular drill bit but it caused the edges to raise. Thanks.
I use this brand. They work so well with plastic. Perfect. Just get the size you need. amzn.to/3aP2Y8J

Yeah you could. I'd use a nylon strap and make a chin cap from foam or check out a helmet chin cap on amazon or at Dick's Sports. Good idea.
4:05 IT'S REDHOOD!!!! That's soo cool
Thanks! 😀

Awesome! Glad it helped. :)
Is there other ways to attach your back plate on your helmet
would a solder iron break the magnets field or could you use it to add the magnets into the plastic?
huh, not sure, but that would hold them for sure.
Where did you get this design??

That helmet looks like it fits really well. Have you done a video on scaling?
Yep, here you go. ua-cam.com/video/MqkrJd6kd9o/v-deo.html :)
hey man, please continue posting
I love your vids!
I will be. Had a lot of crazy stuff happen the past couple months.
I have a suggestion for you, there are many tutorials on iron man helmet but none of them are close to as good at you

How do you get rid of all the smells?
They burn off over time.
Man this was really helpful
Cool man, glad it helped. :)

Has any body else had an issue with villainous prop shop's back plates on the helmets not lining up
How did you get the file to print this?
I sell files on my site, 3dprintedprops.com but I bought this from Villainous Prop Shop. See link in description.
Using magnets was really clever. I wish more masks and helmets used them. ^^
Using magnets comes in handy. If they don't have slots for them just add them with a drill. :)
Very well made videos! Keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
another tip instead of sharpie ink to transfer a mark to the other side. A small dab of toothpaste works well too.
How long did it take for you to receive your helmet from villainous props?
To be honest, I don't remember. No more than 4 days I think. I would check with them to be sure.

awesome job 👏🏻
Thank you! 😁
Not going to LED the eyes up? Never mind i found out at the end of the video :D :D
😛Yep. Next week's video.

What kind of foam is that? Sorry, I can’t hear what you say when you mention it
It's EVA and upholstery foam. Here are some links. amzn.to/3pEVNo5

Maybe do this part before you spray the thing 😂
HA! Yep, that would have been the smart thing. I just get excited for the paint job. :P
Amaizing videos but……. USE GLOVES!
Can you breathe in that?
Can you breathe
Yep, It definitely gets hot in there though.
