I was also expecting Damiani to hate the game because ResetEra does, but I guess Isla liking Eve's design saved it.
I agree with you but I’d go a step forward and call judging Stellar Blade for having a stylistically attractive female lead ignorant, obnoxious and borderline racist. Stellar Blade is Korean. Would Isla claim that Black Pink or another K-Pop band is lacking seriousness or merit because they use Korean beauty aesthetics as part of their act? It’s an entire genre of media. One that is SURGING as an alternative because the US was forced to pretend feminine beauty isn’t okay. (Unless it’s gay. Then it’s fine.) The absurdity is palpable. If you don’t want to play the game… great. I probably won’t either. But the need to loudly virtue signal about just how much you NOTICE the aesthetics is tired and old by now. It reminds me of when I was a kid and Mulan was in theater’s but all the wrinkly old feminists were still crowing about the dangers of Sleeping Beauty, a movie made 20 years before the people making current Disney movies were born. This game has much more to it than I suspected!
The literal "writing on the wall" in Silent Hill 2 Remake isn't really out of place because Silent Hill 2 had TONS of creepy things written on walls. "reap what you sow" is pretty subtle compared to some of the things written on walls in the OG. Btw the OG is 10/10 before someone says I trashing it.
39:57 I don’t know where you get the impression that Stellar Blade will have microtransactions? Never in ANY of the trailers has it been implied or shown that this game will have microtransactions or an in-game shop. I don’t know where you’re got that idea from, PlayStation and Shift Up confirmed that all of the outfits are attainable in-game. Yes there is a digital deluxe version, where if you pre-order you will get some IN-GAME currency and unlockable skins early on in the game. PlayStation has said that you can still unlock the skin just by playing the game, so no! This game doesn’t have mocrotransactions! 40:03 No you DON’T see it for what it is! Your whole explanation of this game was basically; “sexy booba waifu game with SOME combat and a pseudo open-world. But probably just about cosmetics and microtransactions.” Your whole explanation of Stellar Blade is just a purposeful, disingenuous and facetious over simplification of this game’s content! You sound like someone with an axe to grind, purposefully trying to ridicule this game, solely on the basis of it’s character design and fanservice. I notice you didn’t do this same level of disingenuous cherry picking, as you’re doing with Stellar Blade… Hmm.. curious. 🧐
@@lenarmangum8630 Don't be so naive. You'll be able to purchase in-game currency, or specific outfits. It's a f-ing goldmine for them. They'd be absolute idiots if they pass on that opportunity. How can you be so oblivious to this, my guy?
Idk why some people in our society is so butthurt with SB, it's like we live with a generation that is trying to sabotage themselves, it's sad but kinda funny ngl, Eve's character design is literally based on a south korean top model who is in fact just as gorgeous if not more than the video game character design in real life, so the social media agenda claims it's unrealistic and vaguely speaks about misogyny and sexism, then would they say the woman who simply likes to show her body (and not in a vulgar way) unrealistic? She is being used for misogyny? Makes no sense at all lol. One of the main points of SB is being way too on the nose, it's made to have sexy characters with no shame to show their bodies alongside the art directional concept of post apocalyptic environment and a mysterious plot, there is no room to create an agenda, but even so they did with something completely harmless. I think they might have a very prejudicial view of men who plays those kinda of games, and there is a lot of hypocrisy with such a view as well, it's not like we are going to be playing the game 24 hours saying weird explicit shit or even worse 😂 it's just a video game, so why our society is so pressed to make a fuss about nothing?... If you can't handle the fact that woman with sexy bodies exist and the video game has it, if that makes you uncomfortable (wich shouldn't) then don't play the game, simple. Complaining about a character design that makes sense will not make you a good critic, nowadays "critics" only use negativity to dictate what they think it's ideal, the genuinity of reviews and critics about videos became only a mask to say "everything is bad", that's why such reviews and critics are garbage and makes no sense nowadays, there is no depth to it, such as the social media agenda only waiting to cancel something for engagement 😅 we don't need critics about Eve's character design because there is nothing that deserves or are necessery to be criticized in the first place, it was funny watching the Digital Foundry guy tho lol at least the absurd of him body shaming gorgeous woman made more people realize we are becoming woke, this podcast not that funny tbh...
I don't know how much longer Damiani is able to work remote and be on the podcast like this. There are such long lengths of time where he is not included in the conversation. It was nice while it lasted. The team is so small now. Don't know how much longer they are going to be able to sustain this.
Maybe, but it depends on the game, the first game is obscure and the gameplay is kind of awkward with enemies who are crazy sponges and are often less than fun to fight to put it bluntly. It won’t be that big if it’s just like the first one.
They way they talk about Stellar blade is honestly kind of disrespectful. Its very clear this is so much more then just an ass game. Cohn Carnage take was really good on it . “:If its free i will try it”, PlayStation studios helped shift up for reason. One again some allies disappoint
I'm glad Stellar Bade is coming out. A game that doesn't cow tow to the vocal few. Think of all the games that purposely downgraded the heroine. Yes, it's the te elephant in the room. They are all flopping. People are talking with their wallets. If you dont like it, dont buy it. But some try to use clout to cancel studios or people that try to make games that dont fit their narrative. Harry Potter much? Which was an absolute success. Games are an escape to fantasy. It's not meant to be reality.
Wait I'm confused, Isla was making out that Stellar Blade is going to be full of MTX and could be a free game? I always assumed it was a standard action-adventure game like Nier, Nioh, Bayonetta etc?
It’s a full priced $70 dollar game, besides the developer Shift Up making Nikke: Goddess Of Victory in the past there is NOTHING in trailers or gameplay that remotely hints at this game being a f2p microtransaction riddled experience. I think he’s just upset because Stellar Blade has a sexy female protagonist with lots of fanservice in it. I think that’s primarily where his grievances with the game come from, he’s mad that this game has a conventionally attractive female main character, so it MUST be a bad f2p, cheap cash grab game! When has sexy women EVERY hurt a game or detracted from the gameplay, mechanics, story, writing or game in general? Did NieR Automata having 2B as its main protagonist detract from the game?

Dragons Dogma fans (cultists*) are def here. Cannot wait! *Best* combat/magic, and it's literally been the only game I ever screenshot-chronicled the heck out of, beginning to dlc, I loved my pawns so much, a couple stuck all the way to the end. The tech is finally up to par, LET'S GO
Ive spoken to a few people who have been playing the game and they have been enjoying it and say its a lot of fun and has some depth once you get into it.
Its a good game honestly. Been playing it all week-end. Had no expectations and ive been surprised by how thight it plays and how much fun the flow of gameplay is. People are way too angry about the game.
I think the main issue is not the gameplay itself but rather the IP and how much the game fails to do it justice(no pun intended...seriously). The treatment of the League specifically. If they had been more inspired with the boss fights this game would be way more successful. Not perfect but much better.
Did you just not listen? He had plenty good to say including - Boomerang and Deadshot being very fun to play - banter between the squad on point - really fun way of getting you to play all the different characters And plenty more
Getting rid of corrections was a great decision, the beginning of each podcast felt too long, now every episode starts right where it should - with a big game discussion which is immediately interesting and involving.
Why would you reveal where things are in the top ten restaurants before reading out the list? Ask what else people wanna know about *after* reading the list
Some points you guys didn't mention in regards to SH2R: animations seem rough, especially James, which looks like a robot walking now. The fog is also significantly worse than in the reveal trailer (Don, back me up on this). I also think the buildings in outdoor scenes looked way better in the reveal trailer. Hoping they fix that for the final game.
Penny's Big Breakaway looks awesome, but since it doesn't have camera control it's not a "Bosman Game" --- remember, Kyle wants to see Mario's butt. And I have to agree, I value having camera control in a 3D platformer.
40:07 Certain people on Easy Allies are already trying to shit on Stellar Blade because of its female protagonist! We get it…you don’t like games thar emphasize and “infantilize” the female form. But for the love of God Isla… stop being so obviously biased and facetious when you haven’t even played the game yet! Just boiling Stellar Blade down to; “an anime booba, waifu game” is so Incredibly petty and disingenuous! You’re basically implying that Stellar Blade is just a big booba, anime action game with nothing else to it, with no other qualities. That’s NOT all the game has to offer! It’s such a gross oversimplification of the games content, it’d be like me saying; “NieR Automata is just an ass game with no substance!” It’s so incredibly dishonest and shows your clear agenda and hatred against this game, for having sexy female character designs. And boiling the game down to just that….

"You can't ruin Silent Hill 2." said Michael Huber. Well Konami pretty much did ruin Silent Hill 2 in 2012 with the Silent Hill HD Collection. It pretty much possible for Bloober Team to screw up their attampt at reimagining of Silent Hill 2. I don't have much expectations for Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2, because of Bloober Team's track record with developing games.
Regarding the Silent Hill 2 trailer, it wasn't a great trailer but to me it felt like Konami had pinged Bloober to be like "hey we need a trailer we need to get mainstream eyes" or something. People are saying "I don't think of combat when I think of Silent Hill 2" which I agree, but looking back at the old old 2001 E3 trailer, that was filled with nothing but combat AND spoilers lol. A lot of people are understandably and justifiably skeptical about this remake, I myself am in the middle and a wait and see but there's some that are really really overblowing it. Also the writing on the wall really doesn't bother me.
8:55 - I believe the character they take out of the Chrysalis is also Elle Fanning as well, because in the very 1st character posters they released... Elle is wearing the same dress the character coming out of the Chrysalis is wearing. You can tell, because of the neckline of the dress that its the same. I definitely Elle is playing a grown up Lou, however... I think that its only her "Ha" (body), and not her "Ka" (soul), which is what is in that BB pod Sam has strapped to him. I think that Lou's "Ka' can also take over the Mechs when it wants to, which is why we see the Samurai Mech maniacally laughing like Baby Lou, and begin fighting Higgs. This game is gonna be a WILD ride & I honestly can't wait. Bring on all of the Kojima weirdness & beauty plz.
Silent Hill: The Short Message is really terrible, the topics they touch are so on the nose an uninspired, cant believe Isla like it. They barely mention Silent Hill, now is a town with an imaginary sad fog, feel so random.
Can't wait until next week to hear your guys thoughts on all the Xbox exclusives no longer being exclusives, news. Everything from HI Fi Rush to Starfield to Hellblade 2 may be coming to PS5 now. It's crazy stuff.
"Was connecting a mistake?" Yes. I played the game in offline mode, and turned the connection on after the end, and it completely ruined the experience. Weird signs everywhere, especially on the highways. Haphazard constructions all over the place for no rime nor reason. It took the solitary experience I had and turned it in to a garish Las Vegas casino.
It feels much more natural if you play like that from the start. It felt like a build up and especially at the beginning some ladders or ropes were really clutch.
39:45 oh my God! Here we go again! 🙄 What is it with the stigmatization against attractive/sexy women in games? Why is there such a crusade against feminine, attractive, sexy women in games and media? We don’t get these types of games like Stellar Blade often. it’s a pretty rare occurrence, I think in modern AAA video games. We hardly get games like this with such fanservice and costumes in this day and age. I’m not saying there aren’t any attractive women in games. I’m just saying we don’t get many games like Stellar Blade with jiggle physics, panty shots, butt shots etc. It’s a rarity. If it was more across the industry then maybe you would have a point, but games like this with such portrayals are increasingly rare. Why attack and villainize the ONE game we get like Stellar Blade?!? There are plenty of other games without “non sexualized” female characters in it! Why attack the one game we get like this? Also there doesn’t seem to be this same level of stigmatization against sexualized men in games. It’s ok to have shirtless men with ripped abs and a six pack, that doesn’t represent the vast majority of male gamers. But when it’s female characters it’s a problem? Plus it’s a video game, they don’t have to mirror real life! Video game characters can look HOWEVER they want to, it’s an escapist medium, why can’t we escape reality and feature stuff we never could in the real world! I thought that was the main purpose of entertainment?!?!?…..
You might find this interesting: voice actress talk about character sexualization in video games (about 6 minutes) ua-cam.com/video/GMSXzXxdzYQ/v-deo.html
I think you're reading a lot more negativity into this than intended. Isla commented on the character design, but she isn't attacking or villainizing it. She said it seems fine, and we're fairly optimistic about Stellar Blade overall. -Bloodworth
I’m convince the Allies hated Suicide Squad because it wasn’t Arkham WAY before it released. Even in their other video. I listened to what they said, but you can tell there is so much distaste for the game before it released. I miss when they used to be not bias. That’s why I pay to support. What’s the point if they are going to form opinions before hand?
It's not biased to look at preview footage and recognize that it doesn't look good or doesn't match up to what you wanted for this team or these characters. And you could also recognize if it's a good game, even if it isn't the kind of game you wish Rocksteady would have invested in. Huber wouldn't have played through the whole thing if he wasn't willing to give it a fair shake and give it a chance to prove itself on its own merits. -Bloodworth
@@EasyAllies Huber was the only one to give it a real shot and give valid criticism which I appreciate instead of playing maybe an hour or not giving it a chance at all. I don’t want the fan base to gang up on me and it is your company so y’all can present content and opinions as you like but I felt like the intentions of SS was a bit disingenuous at times before release and just piled on like 99% of the internet did when I’ve never seen this from the channel before.

I played through 33% of The Short Message and I couldn't do it. It's super cheesy and outrageously annoying with it's context and symbolism...which you can argue is practically the point of Silent Hill, but it's done in such a new age way that it's gross.
Playing Persona 3 Reload and it is such a disappointment of remake. Tartarus is boring as hell. Game still feels a like a PS2 game. It doesn't feel like a modern game. Very basic and simple. It is almost behind from p5 which is a game from 2017 on every aspect. With the 70 dollar price tag they should have redesign tartarus and all of tiny little areas in town. On top of that data mining has shown that 6 dlc including fes content might come as dlc. So these guys made very lazy remake, take out content to sell separate and put 70 dollar price tag. Don't understand how Atlus get a pass from its fans always.
Yes, I agree. For this price tag they could've made a brand new game. Fixing the flaws of the original should have been the very least they should've done in this remake. The price is just too high for what they're offering.
I agree with Huber that people people really wanted to hate on Suicide Squad. A few weeks back IGN even posted a preview saying the game was bad, which is somthing they they never do. Impressions outside of the media from people who have played the full game seem to be mostly positive though, which makes it just feel like the low review scores might not be that warranted.
@@Kmaitland89 well I’m pretty sure IGN made an article a while back talking about how how previews aren’t opinions and they are just there to give an idea of what the game will be. Then they threw that out the window just for this game.
As someone who's played it. It definitely deserves the low review scores. Terrible writing apart from some small story moments. The action, while flashy and running well, is repetitive and Huber's always on rooftops complaints is so true. Bad representation of much beloved characters. But those who like it, I guess each to their own, but I don't understand what they like, unless they are just looter shooter fanatics.
MetaCritic should show a difference in review score between Media and Gamers than. That should confirm if what you say is true or not right? Just checked. Critic Score: 62 User Score: 3.8
100% agree with EZA take on Stellar blade. Sony fan always love to overhype thing. Gameplay look flashy but I doubt it will be good as DMC or Bayonetta, Story also look like Nier. Game will come out mediocre at best.
Maybe people are hyping up the game because they’re excited about it?….. just a thought. Also you haven’t even played the game, how can you say the game is just flashy with no substance, and that it won’t be as good as Devil May Cry or Bayonetta? If you’d actually watched the trailers, you would see that the game actually looks to have a lot of depth. It’s more than just a; “big booba anime waifu game” like Isla tries to think and desperately reduce it down to. There’s MUCH more to Stellar Blade than that! The game has MULTIPLE skill tress with respecable abilities, upgradeable weapons, usable and consumable items, multiple gauges called; “Burst Gauge” and “Beta Gauge” that’ll both tied to parries, evading and blocking. There are semi-open hubs areas to explore, fishing, currency, side quests etc. This game has a LOT to it! The gameplay, combat and exploration look to be VERY solid, the combat looks to be a mix of a flashy character action game, with soulslike elements like; blocking, evading, parrying, waiting for enemy tells etc. This game is a full blown ARPG! Instead of just a character action hack n’ slash game like Bayonetta or DMC. Also nobody has played the game yet, it’s to quick to judge if the game will be “mediocre” or not. From the fact that Sony was willing to buy the exclusivity and publishing rights to this game, and signed an exclusivity contract with Shift Up. I think PlayStation sees great potential in this game. Plus a Santa Monica studio employee said he got to visit Shift Up’s headquarters and see/play the game in action and said; “he can’t wait for Stellar Blade to take the action genre by storm.” ….So I’m guessing there might be more to this game than some people realize!
DS2 has me wondering if this is Kojima finally jumping the shark for people, the first game is bonkers already with babies being used to find invisible dead beings and characters called “Die-Hardman… it’s already stretching the suspension of disbelief, I wonder if Kojima’s hijinks will start to implode in on itself.
I’ve always thought he was a hack. He gets a lot of credit he doesn’t deserve because a lot of people have never seen the movies he rips off or played pc games in the 80s to see how derivative his stuff is. But I think these new games will either cement his legacy or break it. I think he’s vulnerable now because the first Death stranding forced some people to admit they don’t like his stuff as much as they thought and there are a bunch of people who didn’t grow up with him who are more neutral ground than people who went cold into MGS without playing pc games, watching anime, or playing any Kojima games before and so thought he invented it all right there.
@@JazGalaxy I think Kojima is a master at presentation, he clearly loves being cinematic but his ideas get lost in translation when he tries to actually apply it.. like calling your cities “knots” or using blood and piss as weapons or having half naked women run around and saying it’s because they “breathe through their skin”.. it just becomes laughable, almost like he is directly trying to provoke the player. While I enjoy his games his over use of symbolism, metaphor and absurdity just ends up distorting the art rather than enhancing it imo.
@@JazGalaxy The man is one of the most consistent directors in the industry. I don't know how anyone can call him a hack. Just like every project, we can't point the finger to one person and attribute all the success/failure to them. A good director knows how to involve the right people around them to make quality games. DS1 already cemented his legacy to me. It's not because it's not for everyone that it was a bad game. DS2 looks like a good evolution. He was able to get Hollywood directors on board for OD... We'll see about Physint, but at the point it would be extremely surprising if what might be his penultimate or even last game will disappoint.

Your whole explanation of Stellar Blade is just a purposeful, disingenuous and facetious over simplification of this game’s content! You sound like someone with an axe to grind, purposefully trying to ridicule this game, solely on the basis of it’s character design and fanservice. I notice you didn’t do this same level of disingenuous cherry picking, as you’re doing with Stellar Blade… Hmm.. curious. 🧐
Brother.. this game will have micro-transactions. They'd be insane not to sell some special outfits for their character. INSANE.
@@valenpro9512 It doesn’t. Shift Up confirmed that all of the outfits are obtainable in the game. Don’t say things you don’t know are true!
@@lenarmangum8630 Don't be so naive. You'll be able to purchase in-game currency, or specific outfits. It's a f-ing goldmine for them. They'd be absolute idiots if they pass on that opportunity.
How can you be so oblivious to this, my guy?
Penny's Big Breakaway is going to have some cool speedruns with all those movement options
Isla is underestimating how big Dragon's Dogma will be, its fan base is loud on the internet and I bet many big streamers will play the game
What's new? What's news? That really is good, should open every episode with it :)
Damiani's sound is great btw 👍 👍 studio-clear

I thought the demo for silent hill was tough to look at. Seems like it ran at 20 fps or something. Couldnt figure out exactly what was off with it
Kojima is cooking again!!
How is Suicide Squad even close to a 7 if literally everything Huber said was negative besides traversal and cutscene quality
He had plenty good to say including
- Boomerang and Deadshot being very fun to play
- banter between the squad on point
- really fun way of getting you to play all the different characters
And plenty more

Nope.
Getting rid of corrections was a great decision, the beginning of each podcast felt too long, now every episode starts right where it should - with a big game discussion which is immediately interesting and involving.
Suicide Squad is Rocksteady's Anthem, this could kill the dev TBH, all cause Warner wanted that soulless coin
Blood, you should have the winner of the bet make an animal noise too. Otherwise, we'll just hear the same noises every week for the most part.
Good episode, just feel L&R Prg romance question could have used more examples of specific games.
Penny's Big Breakaway looks awesome, but since it doesn't have camera control it's not a "Bosman Game" --- remember, Kyle wants to see Mario's butt.
And I have to agree, I value having camera control in a 3D platformer.
Great episode! 💜
It’s such a gross oversimplification of the games content, it’d be like me saying; “NieR Automata is just an ass game with no substance!”
It’s so incredibly dishonest and shows your clear agenda and hatred against this game, for having sexy female character designs.

You don't have to be "fair and balanced" with every game Huber. Some games are simply trash and do not deserve the benefit of the doubt.

"Was connecting a mistake?"
Yes.
What is it with the stigmatization against attractive/sexy women in games?
It's not that serious, man.

-Bloodworth

This sounds exactly like Diablo 4.
Wow, I am surprised Isla liked The Short Message. She is a bit of an authority for me for Silent Hill. But I hated the game. Well, different folks...

Genuinely shocked Isla hasn't played Coffee Talk
I agree with Huber that people people really wanted to hate on Suicide Squad. A few weeks back IGN even posted a preview saying the game was bad, which is somthing they they never do. Impressions outside of the media from people who have played the full game seem to be mostly positive though, which makes it just feel like the low review scores might not be that warranted.
Impressions are ONE PERSON OPINION. If that was his opinion should he have held back that preview?

@@titusorelius9458 Nah, internet user reviews havent meant anything for a few years now, they are nearly as pointless as critic reviews.
Plus a Santa Monica studio employee said he got to visit Shift Up’s headquarters and see/play the game in action and said; “he can’t wait for Stellar Blade to take the action genre by storm.”
….So I’m guessing there might be more to this game than some people realize!

People in denial over Suicide Squad, including Huber. It's bad
