Yes. I hope corrections comes back. I have never submitted a correction and don't think I have the type of knowledge to submit a correction for this podcast, but I still love hearing the submissions and the discussions it brings.
Huber and Isla need to check out the documentary on the creator of D: Memories of Kenji Eno. It bums me out that for as much as they bring up the game D and D2 they never mention Kenji Eno and that’s a major disservice to his legacy. Kenji Eno was highly respected in the game developer community. Even by someone as well known as Hideo Kajima. People should really know his name and you have an opportunity to bring attention to him as a creator.
For the end "bet points screen" I'd recommend using the Twitch emote images or something similar, to put the faces next to each team name. Just easier to see who is which "team" name.
I hope Tekken 8 / Like a Dragon 8 end up with the same cross franchise friendship that Doom and Animal Crossing had. Also can we get Ichiban and Kiryu as DLC characters for Tekken, just saying.
Regarding the popularity of Pal World, I think its just a whole combination of things and not just one or two. IMO the designs of the monsters is one of the weakest parts of the game so thats not really a reason. What i do think that started it all was the phrase "Pokemon with Guns." Grabs attention already. Then people found out you can play with your friends, then they find out they can play in a 32 person server so friends invite their friends. Then people find out its a survival game which a ton of people like already. Then theres streamers playing it now and onboarding a ton of people there. Regardless of what people think, theres genuine quality in the game design and its systems. I HATE survival games but we upped the multipliers to get rid of that and just have fun catching monsters and basically playing a Monster Hunter game in the late game. P.S. i recommend ramping up the multipliers. We had it at 20x exp rate and it still took us about 50 hours to beat the final boss lol
Looks like there will be a regular lay off segment on a weekly basis. What I am curious how many people found a new job in gaming industry and how many of the have left gaming industry forever.
Can we talk about Don's dedication to the craft. Around 36:34 the team brings in Damiani and Don is the only one that turns to where Damiani would be as if he is looking at someone speaking. Lol it makes it feel like Damiani is a panelist, and not a Zoom window added in editing. Fucking solid lol
Palworlds success almost assuredly has nothing to do with the Pokémon fanbase wanting an evolution. I really doubt that all the Switch players suddenly jumped on Xbox and PC to play Palworld, a game that is not even remotely similar to Pokemon besides catching monsters. More than a 3rd of the sales are coming from China.
Depends how you look at it. The thing with Pokemon is that it's much bigger than the people buying the mainline entries. Look at Pokemon Go. It was way bigger than any given pokemon game because it's was way more accessible and different.
Suggestion! I don't know how feasible it is with the current setup, but is it possible to remove Damiani's viewport when switching cameras to focus on a single person? Feels like everyone gets a little time without the spotlight except him, seems a bit stressful haha Enjoying the episode so far, new format is great
Not smoothly, the way it's currently set up. That's one of the advantages of having Robamiani, but since we were playing musical chairs with people coming in and out this week, it was simpler to keep Robamiani off the set. -Bloodworth
More or less on the page with Mitch regarding Palworld. Huber also put it best saying it was a perfect storm. So much of if feels like a bandwagon now that people excuse its faults.
It's really a table breaking moment every time I hear people talk about how many copies Palworld is selling WITHOUT the additional knowledge of how cheap it is. Yeah it's technically selling faster than some AAA games BUT it's less than half the price. $27 vs $60/70.
@@MellowFelloh But it's not like Pokemon isn't selling better still and making even more money? I don't think Palworld could get away with upping the price point.
@@mwmrhdm Yeah, it's cheaper when you make an asset flip game and hire people that steal character designs. The point still stands that the price of entry is considerably cheaper but also all sales for Pal World are hit by steams 30% cut. In the past 4 1/2 years Game Freak released 4 games and sold over 80M copies.
@@MellowFelloh Every developer fucks up at some point. But monkeys are pretending like that game is representative of all games. Arceus literally came out that same year and reviewed well.
Bought Tekken 8 when it came out and directly dove into the Arcade stuff, because I thought the Story Mode wasn't that great in Tekken 7. And I loved what MK/Injustice did with Story modes in fighting games (love sp story stuff). But you guys got me hpyed now to check out the Tekken 8 Story!
Gotta say, Mitch is always such a delight to have on the show. His vibes are a so in tune with the rest of the Allies. Would love to have him as a regular but i know its easier said then done.
People are going to have beaten the suicide squad main story in just a couple days so they probably need to have some post game content announced ahead of time so people aren't mad about the lack of content
2:09:21 Yes, I think releasing an early access game is releasing an unfinished game, because they are selling unfinished product for the full price. So give money now get the product later. I think it is not a good deal from customer stand point. They need to be discounted. Personally I will never buy early access game. I even usually wait for 6 months to 1 year to buy a game so that all the patches and dlcs are wrapped up. But I don't find it shady business practice like releasing unfinished game like cyberpunk 2077, because people know what they are signing up for. Also some people like giving feedback, and become part of the development process.
Don't get me wrong, I had fun with Tekken 8's story mode, but it's not in any way unique or surprising, it is a very by the numbers Anime story, like we have seen it many times before. The tournament itself is a great inclusion, but it has no influence on the story at all. I was hoping that whoever wins will play a part in the story later, but no, it just doesn't matter and many of those characters don't appear in the story after that anymore at all. So yeah, not the greatest execusion, but it's still a fun time, with some crazy over the top scenes, which definitely makes it worth it.
I am surprised you didn't quote anytthing from Hoeg's Law. He also made a video and thinks its really unlikely that Nintendo will go after Pokemon for all kind of reasons he listed in it.
Yes Palworld took, at best, massive inspiration from Pokémon designs. But the actual game is nothing like Pokémon. If they’re smart, they’ll change the designs that are controversial and close. But the game is pretty darn fun, even if it’s kind of shallow.
42:50 I hate survival games too & I always play the hits because my friends want to play them & the games are so dull or full of so much downtime, I’m so glad I gave Palworld a shot though because it’s so unlike those games. The fact that your Pals take care of everything at home - even helping you build your home - means that you spend more time doing the interesting things, fighting bosses, catching new Pals, exploring the world, etc. & the fact that everything feeds into each other means the progression is amazing - you caught a new Pal? They might have an amazing partner skill to help you out in the world, or be even better on the base than another Pal, new breeding possibilities, or they might just be better in combat. In Pokémon, incentive to “catch ‘em all” is basically non-existent, you caught the strongest Pokemon & you used them because it’s an entirely combat focused RPG & numbers matter. In Palworld Pals are so much more than that. In addition to that, fighting alongside your Pals is something I think Pokemon fans have wanted in a more mature look at Pokemon. Fighting alongside a summoned creature is very much an interesting RPG trope done in other games - even in the monster collector genre, like Shin Megami Tensei. Nothing quite beats my Pal on the ground harrying some boss Pal whilst I’m grinding above them with a bird Pal & unloading a handgun.
pal world is nothing like pokemon. Palworld feels more like a old school pc game. like Black and white, settlers, building your base, raising your animals who help you buid your town, training your animals to fight with you, level them up, pick new skills for them to fight with. and use them to be able to defeat harder animals to then catch them to then use by your side. they are your companions, your friends. and then you can find rare eggs to breed new special companions. it is so fun.
Yeah its more like Ark. While you can do awful stuff to your pals, its optional and the game is rather neutral and doesnt force you down any path really. In some ways it even discourages it as working your pals very hard makes their sanity drop meaning they are way less productive. Not to mention that most of the stuff you can do is basically also in other survival games like Ark. I also like that you can pet your pals. I think the devs mentioned Rimworld as an inspiration and its a lot like that in the way that the player gets the freedom to create their own narrative being able to be good/evil etc. I guess I am just annoyed people think its 'edgy' or 'pokemon with guns' when its not nearly at all that much.
Blood couldn’t even begin to start the Suicide Squad discussion before Huber interrupted him numerous times…..it’s getting pretty old. Let people finish their damn sentence.
2:14:32 Dear Huber --- Ninja Gaiden isn't really that hard, anybody who can complete Sekiro has the reflexes needed to easily beat Ninja Gaiden. Wondering what Mitch means by Like a Dragon/Yakuza being a "flawed" series? I struggle to think of a more consistent series?

It's in early access, cheap, and it's on gamepass. Pretty obvious why it would be easier to excuse It's faults when the barrier to entry is lower.

So what, Palworld probably also cost less than half of what a AAA game costs to make. If you're gonna bring up revenue, should consider expenses too.
Thats burying Pokemon's ditch even further with them charging full price and putting out garbage like they did Scarlet/Violet lol
