I don't agree with it, but I think a lot of this is coming from the two "Indy-adjacent" gaming franchises being completely third-person, Tomb Raider and Uncharted. We also saw a ton of these complaints for Cyberpunk since most WRPGs are third-person, and the closest equivalent being recent Deus Ex games, which had third-person for dialouge.
I think he hinted that he gets sick. But even without that factor, the primary difference between Indy and Samus is that the latter primarily aims & shoots. I think Damiani’s take that “people know they can play Xbox games on their TV” is a little bit shortsighted. Xbox isn’t doing marketing without having the data to back it up, as well as KPIs that they expect to increase in order to prove the marketing campaign successful. They certainly have the data that Xcloud use through the likes of Samsung TVs is below their expectations. I’d also say it’s likely they have survey data along the lines of “X% of Samsung consumers don’t know about the xcloud app”. Saying that “people know” is proven untrue by the fact that Xbox are doing this clearly very expensive marketing campaign.

The one thing I wonder about Sony and Microsoft ‘restarting’ with their exclusivity is, I wonder if that’ll be financially possible for them in two, three years. At least in the U.S. there’s a strong possibility that there’ll be a lot of people in VERY different financial situations as the next four years progress, and leisure is usually the first thing affected that people cut. So if it gets that bad they may have to be more open from the start to either no exclusivity or shortening the timing by a lot. It’ll be very interesting to see.
21:30 I kind of agree with both sides on the spoilers. Places like Twitter could use better tools to not spoil things, but some people also need to chill on what they consider "spoilers." IMO, the issue really is that there is no set definition of what is going to be seen as a spoiler, and its not always clear where those conversations can happen without people being upset. Sometimes its obvious, but often it's not.

And claiming that the solution is that everyone who hasn’t seen a thing should just “get off the internet” is childish and stupid. But I agree with you that what qualifies as a spoiler can be undefined and at time ridiculous. To me a spoiler is hard defined as “anything the writer expects you NOT to know”. Doesn’t matter if it was in a trailer or not. I’ve seen dozens of films where a central plot;one of the writing of the film is centered around the audience “not knowing” an identity only for the entire audience to know exactly who it is from the trailer. Huber's take on spoilers is BAD. Nobody is keeping you from talking about it with people who have seen/played it but assuming that everyone has time to consume content immediately when it comes out is... bad. Just bad. No Huber you're WRONG.
Exactly. I respect and LOVE Huber - as well as past and present Allies, but that was such a bad and, to be completely honest, even a very dumb stance to have about spoilers. People have work, education, families and all sorts of stuff that take up their time. Here we have people whose sole job is to play games and Huber - along with the other Allies - constantly complains that he has no time to play or watch all the stuff, yet somehow folk who can't play or watch even 10% of what the Allies can, are supposed to be caught up on every "zeitgeist", as the Allies love to say, when it happens?! That's such an fucking insane stance that it almost makes me lose a little bit of respect for Huber. I say this because this stance ignores other people's situations - a lot of that going on in the US right now - and takes a very selfish approach of only thinking about him and everybody else can just get spoiled and fuck off. It's truly selfish, seriously. Lastly, Huber is also wrong in saying that he can't talk about it, there are a lot of places where Huber and anyone else can go to talk about anything that's new - even after it just aired. Examples are the many Reddit channels made exactly for this, you like The Penguin and want to talk about, there's the specific ThePenguin, TV shows, DC Comics, Batman, and all the dozens upon dozens of sub Reddits where you can discuss spoilers to their heart's content. This isn't new and Game of Thrones had this more than a decade ago. And those Reddit subs all have strict policies about spoilers of any kind. Like back in the Game of Thrones day, they prohibited people who read the books from spoiling the story for those who only watched the show. Even titles and descriptions had to use "Spoiler Tags" that obscure the text and only appear when people hover the mouse over it or click it. What is wrong is going into a social media platform or a podcast and spoiling things for other people without any consideration just because you want to share your thoughts and emotions about something completely unrelated to what other people went to you for. Huber spoiled Joker: Folie à Deux for me in that Tetris stream. I'm not gonna repeat the spoiler here, but at the time it made me really mad and I was both disappointed and angry at Huber. Because I went to watch and support the Allies while they were playing Tetris games, not to get spoiled about a movie I still have yet to see, but was taking my time until this "bubble" about the movie stopped, exactly to make my own opinions about it. Something I might add Huber talks all the time he likes to do and people should do it, but then he turns and fucks people who do it. It's a contradiction nightmare on which you lose either way. The cherry on top of disrespect being Huber saying that if you wanted to hear his opinion on Joker: Folie à Deux, to go to Reaction Shots. Which made me think, if you already gave your opinion on that podcast about movies and with a segment or entirely dedicated about this movie, why spoil it in a video game stream?! What the actual fuck is going on? To Bloodworth, I know you read these comments, so I kindly ask that if possible and you feel it's appropriate, please pass this on to Huber and the other Allies. I LOVE all of you, but this wasn't the first time nor the second where you all start talking about spoilers in streamings and podcasts that have nothing to do with a Spoiler Mode - the EZA show I most loved and you all stopped doing it, to then do spoilers everywhere else where it shouldn't be. Just to be clear, I'm not against talking about side stuff, but there's a point about spoilers that you just shouldn't go into, unless you clearly warn viewers and listeners and then give them 10 seconds so they can pause or skip ahead to avoid being spoiled. Just thinking about all this stuff and writing this message has started to make me angry all over again. Because nothing about this is new, even back at GameTrailers this happened, but after 2 decades it somehow still keeps happening. Which just boggles the mind and creates all these negative feelings towards the Allies that I really wish I didn't have. Anyway, I LOVE you all and will do as I always do, which is to focus on all the light, joy and humor you all bring into this world and that I love. Because at the end of the day, no one is perfect and harmony can only exist when we go past our differences and try to connect through the people and things we love and care about. I watch, listen and read you all since around GameTrailers' 2nd or 3rd year, so I will always support you all. But please try to be a little more considerate of other people's situations, most people don't have as much free time as they would like and it really feels like a gut punch when you get spoiled for no reason, but then almost like adding salt to the wound, the person who spoiled things goes on a rant as if it's those people's fault for getting spoiled in the first place. A complete "blaming the victim" mentality that doesn't help anyone. I wasn't even gonna say anything, but Huber's rant and @antivanti's comment compelled me to write this. L & R
It’s obnoxious. I like Huber so bloody much did the exact right thing in just waiting a beat and moving on. The entire podcast audience was like, “…alright dude. Whatever.”
Huber, in regards to Metal Slug Tactics and not seeing your available move, there's definitely bugs in the game. I've had characters disappear, get revived but be unable to move, and like you said, still had a move and not be able to move. I'm playing on Xbox. The game is fun, and I'm not a tactics person, but you can feel the rogue-like elements creep in and hinder the gameplay. Also, yes, the UI is cluttered and a bit unintuitive.
did metal slug tactics end up being xcom-freeform kinda thing or more of a Into The Breach "here's your scenario you have this guy this guy and this girl, they have these 6 units, go"
The Xbox commentary was a bad take. What people have to understand is that the “Console Wars” are over. I know people don’t like to accept that because it means ssyimg goodbye to their schoolyard arguments from when they took their fresh copy of EGM to school, but just like Nintendo said they don’t compete with Sony and MS and are in an entirely different industry, (to which fanboys tried to say “yes you do!”), Microsoft has also exited competition with Sony. MS is a VASTLY bigger company than Sony who is FAR more of a publisher than a hardware manufacturer. And just like they put windows on their own Microsoft laptops and on Dells, they will put games on Xbox and on PlayStation. Look, making a “box” is an outdated, stupid concept and it has been for 30 years. Remember when Sega lost two generations just by slightly miscalculating what to put in their box? It makes no sense as a way to run a business unless you HAVE to, and the industry no longer requires it. MS will continue to work their strategy and they are in a WAYYY better place than Sony who is waking up realize they have no plans for the next generation of their business.
I hate the look of LEGO Horizons where it clearly takes more from their movies and shows than the games. All the movement is more exaggerated but moves more like stop-action. Environments are overanimated to detract from the feeling of playing with toys. EVERYTHING being LEGO detracts from readability. This on top of Horizon not being an carryable franchise. Just waiting for the next TT LEGO game.
Every time I see the Indiana Jones game I see parts I think make it look like a must buy and then other parts that make it look like a bargain bin game. So conflicted
Huber is absolutely right about spoiler culture having gotten out of hand. Of course you don't want people blurting out major twist spoilers the night of the release of something, but we have gotten to this point where you can't talk about anything even if it's years old without someone accosting you over spoiling them.
I don't understand how it can be that Damiani has a job with a gaming publication that covers all consoles and requires him to discuss games for each console, yet he does not own an Xbox? And even if that's true, his reason for needing to wait for South of Midnight doesn't make sense. He knows that you don't actually need to own a physical Xbox to play Xbox games day 1. What if it was on Switch? What if it was published by Square-Enix instead of Microsoft?
Huber isn't wrong. People are chronically online. People go to pages talking specifically about new games and get shocked that they see spoilers of said game. It's nothing but a "touch grass" issue
Huber has bi-monthly breakdowns on twitter about other peoples opinions on TV and games, he's gone on podcast babbles about "THE ONLY OPINIONS I CARE ABOUT ARE YOU GUYS AND MY WIFE NOBODY ELSES WAH" pot meet kettle etc etc
its amazing how much Dragon Quest clears Final Fantasy at every single turn, never forget DQ7 outsold FF7 in Japan. hoping we get 4-5 remakes, though those DS remakes were great if you have a modded 3ds
genuinely confused by this take of "i won't play it because it's in first person". so that guy is just writing off every single FPS game period? and not only that, but dings FPS games for being... FPS? kind of a wild take imo
Whats so confusing about a person who has trouble playing FPS games because it physically effects them? Damiani has always stressed this when talking about them.
I wish Huber would stop saying "My favorite thing ever made" because it has lost all of its meaning when he says it. When everything is the best thing ever made, nothing is the best thing ever made.
41:34 this is such a weird reaction. If their user numbers have never been higher yes that means Xbox has never been more healthy. They just had a massive success with BO6 that is the biggest COD ever in terms of players so just think about how much they are taking in on microtransactions. Not to mention the game pass sub growth with a stacked lineup now in the coming months to retain a healthy amount of these new subs
They're stuck in 2007 in almost every way, if it couldn't be uttered at e3 2007 it confuses the brain. Final Fantasy 7 Re;re;remake part 3 makes sense because they wanted it in 2007, Cloud and game pass doesn't make sense to them. Replaying the last of us and watching naruto for the 11th time this year makes sense, growing with the times doesn't make sense.
You have to understand that EZA has a completely slanted and wrongheaded view of the industry that is based on socialism. They look at the layoffs, strikes and Xbox sales numbers and scoff at Xbox being “healthy” without acknowledging that layoffs and strikes have nothing to do with a company being healthy. Microsoft is where they want to be right now.
I really miss when Easy Allies did reviews. How come you all stopped? That was my favorite part of the channel, and GameTrailers. The last review was over two months ago, and then before that they were even more inconsistent. It's just that EA's reviews were my go to for years and really the only source I trusted. :(
It's just been a really tough year on a number of levels. There were a couple games I tried to put time in to review, but ultimately circumstances didn't allow. There are fewer of us, and we've been in a part-time structure since the beginning of this year. As such, we have less capacity for formal written reviews. The main content we're focused on is the weekly podcast, group stream, and patreon rewards. We're still giving our thoughts on games every week, but mostly in segments during the weekly podcast. In some ways that makes our game coverage more consistent, but it also makes it harder to fit in time for larger projects. Trying to fit in reviews when we can, but they're essentially a volunteer effort if someone has the time. -Bloodworth

Also, yes, the UI is cluttered and a bit unintuitive.
did metal slug tactics end up being xcom-freeform kinda thing or more of a Into The Breach "here's your scenario you have this guy this guy and this girl, they have these 6 units, go"
@ChichiNaka The latter for sure; it's grid based, though you can pretty much go anywhere within a character's range.

Does this mean I am an Xbox?
I hate the look of LEGO Horizons where it clearly takes more from their movies and shows than the games. All the movement is more exaggerated but moves more like stop-action. Environments are overanimated to detract from the feeling of playing with toys. EVERYTHING being LEGO detracts from readability. This on top of Horizon not being an carryable franchise.
Just waiting for the next TT LEGO game.
What was the rogue lite game they talked about?
Every time I see the Indiana Jones game I see parts I think make it look like a must buy and then other parts that make it look like a bargain bin game. So conflicted
Huber is absolutely right about spoiler culture having gotten out of hand. Of course you don't want people blurting out major twist spoilers the night of the release of something, but we have gotten to this point where you can't talk about anything even if it's years old without someone accosting you over spoiling them.
Did Blood say Isla was on Kinda Funny? Anyone got a link? I cant seem to find it...

What if it was published by Square-Enix instead of Microsoft?
final fantasy and zelda arent out on xbox why would he ever need an xbox
Huber isn't wrong. People are chronically online. People go to pages talking specifically about new games and get shocked that they see spoilers of said game. It's nothing but a "touch grass" issue
Huber has bi-monthly breakdowns on twitter about other peoples opinions on TV and games, he's gone on podcast babbles about "THE ONLY OPINIONS I CARE ABOUT ARE YOU GUYS AND MY WIFE NOBODY ELSES WAH"
pot meet kettle etc etc

its amazing how much Dragon Quest clears Final Fantasy at every single turn, never forget DQ7 outsold FF7 in Japan.
hoping we get 4-5 remakes, though those DS remakes were great if you have a modded 3ds

genuinely confused by this take of "i won't play it because it's in first person". so that guy is just writing off every single FPS game period? and not only that, but dings FPS games for being... FPS? kind of a wild take imo
Whats so confusing about a person who has trouble playing FPS games because it physically effects them? Damiani has always stressed this when talking about them.
I know that he can’t play any VR even for 1 minute because he immediately gets motion sick. I think first-person games have similar effect on him.
The very next sentence he said FPS makes him sick. Kind of a wild comment imo…
That not a wild take. I dislike Isometric games, so I don’t buy them at all. No matter well they are received.
@@sunvsthemoonARE YOU DEAF? He said sick, physically. Its not Wild.
Huber. No spoilers please. I'm waiting to play Indiana Jones on my PS5 Pro. I want the best console experience

-Bloodworth
