- More info on Wingsuit BASE jumping at base-book.com/ Wingsuit BASE jumping in Baffin Island. Chris McNamara's (camera guy) web site www.SuperTopo.c... Melissa Andrezjewski is the jumper.
About me: I am a BASE jumper and climber who spends most of his time running the web site www.SuperTopo.c... My main interest now (other than climbing and falling) is creating gear reviews for climbing and outdoor gear and developing a price finder so people can find the best prices on outdoor gear. You can see our latest version here www.supertopo.c...
As an old man, it's amazing to me that I can "fly along" with these two from the comfort of my home, what a thrill, Thank you both.
So much more surreal without the music that is used in GoPro videos. O_O
Thanks for giving me this experience that I will never, ever have in real life!
no way! The waiting is just as important, the build up is crazy before they jump, then all of sudden when they actually take the plunge it looks and feels great! Ofcourse I'm terrified of that kind of thing, so might just be me. Great video!
I've watched this about 100 times and still can't get over how epic it is. Well done you two!
That moment before the jump, standing on the ledge, that's where i'd need new pants. :)
It's incredible the lengths we go to to achieve flight for 30 seconds. I want to do this so badly that this video made me cry.
the colors and perspective of the helmet cam make it really hard to tell how high up they are...tallest vertical drop in the world. It looks like fun though
I think that I'd sh*t my pants and pass out the second my body leaves that cliff edge. Major respect goes out to these jumpers! I realllyyyyy wanna do this before I die!
hink i would hav to mhold my breath the whole way down. this is one of the best wingsuit videos on here i like the way they were hangin around at the top.
she has such a petite gentle voice... haha and then she throws herself off a cliff ... AWESOME!!
she was so close to the mountains! she is very brave! BRAVO
Still come here to watch this video every year! So bomb
Incredible!! I was searching to see if anyone was paragliding up there and nope! You guys outdid that totally! Way to go!
F'ing badass!!! I really hope to do that one day. Adrenaline is better than any drug in the world!
false.
PapaGeorge140 yeah ham is better
Except, of course, adrenaline. I'm sure you can buy it from, e.g., people with allergies. It'll be a lot safer and cheaper than jumping off mountains in the Arctic.
First off, this is Canada not the Arctic. Secondly, this is safe if done properly, and with somebody who knows how to do it. A lot safer than taking drugs you don't need.
SummerGirl90100 You're not really claiming jumping off a kilometre-high cliff with a only bunch of cloth there to save you is safer than taking drugs? Are you insane?
This is the most awesome headcam video I have ever seen.
That was sick, im 100% jealous 👌😄 the bird dance did the job😂
This is one of the coolest vids I've ever seen.
Wow amazing, I I'm getting my skydiving license this summer or next year hopefuly then I'm going to get into base after About 200 jumps, this sport is amazing, total respect to these people
Did you do it?
oh man i got chills from watching that.
If I ever go to Baffin I will have to remember to bring my wingsuit. This is a perfect video. I posted it on SportsWorks near the Pink Floyd video of the same title. They work exceedingly well together.
OMFG! ...I can't WAIT to see/hear a new remix by you featuring content like this!
I love this jump every time I see it Melissa and Chris awesome!!!
@kolos35 haha, just gotta say, I love that everyone things we are b/f and g/f because we are jumping together :) Chris you rock and so do our significant others for letting us play on cliffs!
2 brave humans, that looked awesome, I wish someday I might do something like that to!
@sanfranciscobay I remember the jump is from about 2,900 feet and landing area is at sea level, it's frozen sea ice that time of year. Chris might remember better.
I like this video becuase it has that moment where it shows the hesitation and everything before jumping, good stuff!
just whacthing this made me feel light headed. . . .wow, good time
ONe of the best jump videos i have ever seen!!
seriously! i was tense just watching her step off!
WOW. this gets my heart racing from home. what a rush this is crazy.
Doesn't matter how many times I watch these. If I stop and think about it, that just seems so nutty. It's like my worst nightmare and they are doing it. Of course, they have the squirrel suit and a parachute, but still. I would love to be able to do that.
HOLY FUCK!!! I've never seen anything so incredibly exhilerating! I was practically jumping out of my seat with excitement while watching this! The sound of movement at that speed was PHENOMENAL!!! I WANT TO FLY!!!!!!!
you guys are so brave enough to do that
Amazing perspective on just how batshit insane you have to be to take that first step.
WOW. I got butterflies in my belly watching that...
EPIC!!! Im doing my AFF in a couple of months and will one day be doing this!
@JA101K Thanks!! What a nice compliment! New name is Melissa Pemberton, easier to spell :)
cool, good to see new vids from u!!
I'm freaking out just watching this.
made me nervous.....you guys are awesome
That's insane!!! Great stuff
Well, a cliff jumpers right to the main kiguti cliff that most people jump/climb. I am pretty sure it is all called Kiguti and we jumped a secondary summit of kiguti.
This is sick, I was looking to see if you could base jump here. Mount thor is on my bucket list
That made me nervous watching, that is amazing
Simply AWESOME ! Nice also to see the slight hesitation, that's the buzz factor starting right there ;) 5 Stars. What camera did you use Chris ?
My palms were getting sweaty as they were getting ready to jump.
Insane how they intentionally hug the wall.
That was just a great film. WILD!
Man that was fing awesome!! I couldn't imagine what you guys are feeling!! That would be so exhilarating So much adrenaline so much fun!!
You can also climb the north face of Kiguti. Its only 900m or 23 pitches of class 5.10 A3+ =D Awesome VID!!!
Nice....love the route you took!
@ChrisMcNamara7
Wow, ya I was wondering how close you were when you made your turn. That's awesome, thanks.
Nice fun you two.
Keep it up, and let us watch!
Lightning.
almost thought you were another person named "jimstar666" on youtube.......and he is a badass BASE jumper. Almost gave ya props lol
@Bodie1550 No helicopter, we hiked up from our BASE camp that you can see when we land.
@tubeneophyte it takes a few hours to hike up around the side
almost crapped when she almost tripped there - flipping insane
In that case, I highly suggest you take up this hobby. I'm sure darwin would approve.
@walkertexasranger33 It's on the Baffin Island where's the highest mountain in east of north america are, the mount Asgard and Thor (nice name!). Take a look on google map or earth, awesome place.
I don't know anybody that knows anybody that knows anybody THAT brave
@ReductioAdAbsurdum i know, i have always thought i'd possibly be able to give that a go, but after watching this video i know i'd wuss out of that first step
OMFG so awesome, I'm not sure I would dare to do that. That girl is brave :D
I have seen like 5000 base videos and this time it acctually made me terrified
man....doing this in a snowy landscape is just insane....
cant tell how high they were when they pulled...
Arg. Magnificent jump. The fisheye lens nearly ruins it though. All sense of a horizon, hence orientation to above and below, are lost.
amazing. The rush you got when standing on that cliff face must be incomparible
Damn that must have been friggen cold!
Chris and Melissa rock
The fish-eye lens just makes it looks so much more dramatic.
looks so ace....
So frighting but wow amazing!
looks like a sweet exit point. nice one! when you open your chute and the camera pans upward, is that Polar Sun Spire on the other side of the Fjord?
Very nice, really enjoy your videos especially the one on your first year of BASE, recently bought the sharp end dvd, what in inspiring film.
I know it doesn't have quite the wow factor as BASE but it would be cool to see some of your climbing on your profile also.
Keith
You guys are so hard core! Not only are you wingsuit jumping, but in what appears to be the Alps or something no less. It makes me nervous just watching her inch up to the edge. I have gone skydiving and bungee jumping but the rush and nervousness for something like this must be 100 times more!
this is amazing stuff
@hgirvine yep that's the Polar Sun Spire across the way
this has been like 1 of my top 5 base jumpin vidz,u think the ground iz right where u see all that white is but ,wait wait for it 1:57 O_o jus blowz ur mind cuz itz jus so much more to the drop.i love it :-)
man I gotta try base jumping one day
we want more milissa!!!!
Thanks for the upload!
I've watched this 50 to 100 times
You definitely need to get the "feel" for it, so you can control your direction in the air.... but 300 is overkill unless you're a really really slow learner.
Spectacular!
Wow! Melissa is now my coolest chick ever!
And congratulations to the guy filming for following her so quickly. My questions are did you have to climb up? or grab a copter? And how the hell did you scope that would be a good place for a jump!
I've done a couple of Freefalls, where would you suggest doing a batsuit drop?
Anyhow, absolutely stunning video, keep up the great work, and remember, if you can't be good be careful!!
Friggin' awesome. Whereabouts is this on Baffin? Coords?
god damn that is a big drop! biggest vertical drop in the world apparently
This is impressive! It commanding respect. I want to try the same thing. GG.
thumbs up for the wind noise!
Spectacular.
Which peak did you leave from?
@rrr1sportrider it's legal on Baffin Island
классное место, надо будет туда съездить
wow, I dont think I could ever have the balls to do that, but the moment when she was leaning so far that it was too late to go back... that's when it'd start rocking my world
Great video..... thanks for posting
She was approaching the edge as if she were afraid of falling off. But I guess an uncontrolled fall at the edge would be a bad launch and could be deadly.
my jaw dropped, this is amazing!
LE REDDITORS ARE HERE
please stop
Per Franck ur just mad cos u got trolled by le redditors
Please, shut the fuck up.
Taylor Billings le epic
WHAT A RUSH. I would do that if I had the opportunity. And required training ;)
You dont just have to do a tandem skydive you can jump on your own. so you have to force your self to jump on a skydive asswell.
2-3 hours
What mountain in Baffin Island is this on? Great footage!
