100% True, Einstein sucked at the highest levels of math (algebraic topology geometry etc) but mogged everyone in 1. Imagination 2. I missed this frequency of content, Eric. I admire your ability to persevere and I'm grateful you were able to, yet again, find the silver linings and bring this energy to share with us.
The biggest piece of lifting advice I can give to anyone is that even the bad workouts are good. Sometimes you go in and the mindset is not there, the warmups feel weird, you're tired from work, but just the fact that you showed up and did it is crucial. On the other side of the coin, sometimes the best workouts you'll have are when you drag your sorry bones in even when you really don't want to.
I’m a believer!! Last week my mind was not in the game and on my bench working weight I hit one set of 5, one of 4, then got pinned on my first rep of the third set. I was pissed off and unfocused. Today I went in KNOWING I was going to dominate that same weight and got 5 sets of 5, new PR. IT’S A MINDSET!!! Thank you for inspiring me, HORSELORD RICK
I hope this guy coaches high school athletes. I really needed someone to believe in me in high school. I moved out at 16, worked, did sports, academics etc and just suffered in every aspect. I needed on person to be there for me and I never had it, so I hope someone like Eric can be that guy for kids.
Eric, can you talk a bit about moving on in life from certain topics? What’s worth sticking out, what’s not worth fighting for, etc. I’m 24 and kind of in a huge transition. Got cheated on, got a 2 year old, I’d love to hear your take on what sticky Rick would do. I’m strong enough to shrug it off, but also know I’m kinda pulling dead weight. What’s your thoughts?
Kid will always need you by their side. Do what you need to do to be the best father you can be. That may not mean staying together, but only you can make that call. A stable home life, mental wellbeing, lifestyle sustainability needs to come first. Consistency for you and your kid.
TLDR; The Mindset works! I realized I was stronger than I thought when I decided to find the biggest rock I could lift into my truck recently. When I got it home, I measured it, figured out the rock composition, and got a rough estimate on it's weight. Turns out the absolute lowball is 330lbs (150kg) for that beast, but it's probably closer to 360lbs. The only way I was able to lift that was the Sticky Ricky Mindset ™️ and the stone lifting tutorial from the Stoltmans. So thank you, sir, for your part in my personal record 🫡
Sticky Ric droppin the straight truth. I plateaued on bench for a while, then hit a bout of the old depression and lost quite a bit as motivation dissolved. Tried to work back to my normal bench and got tired of the increments, because I was plateauing below where I was before. I felt I could do more, I wanted to get past, I slapped another 20 on and pushed. I failed. I rested for 10 minutes, got back in there and failed. I decided to come at it the next day, and hit that bench and got it. Since then, it's been a steady gain. It truly is a mindset. Your brain will hold you back on what your body is capable of if you're discouraged, if you're depressed, if you're down and out. Gotta get over those mental barriers and you can hit them PRs.
Mom on her deathbed "son, you are stronger than you think" Me: I know mom, I can handle the troubles of this world... Mom:"No son, I mean you can deadlift far more than you think you can"
This reminds me of that scientific study they did on mice. Where they dropped them in a cup of water and watched them tread the water for like an hour or so. When they saw the mouse give up they pulled them out. They waited another hour of rest then put them back in. This time the mouse swam for like NINE HOURS, because the mouse BELIEVED at any moment they would be saved. So the test was the power of belief.
I hope you come to realize how much of an inspiration you are, Eric. You are a really admirable man, and your daughter is blessed to have such a fantastic father and mother. You motivate millions of people around the world on a surface level, and many more on a deeper level. I'm thankful to be alive in the time of the STICK DELHAGEN! KEEP FUCKING ROCKING BROTHER!
I agree that fully locking out on rep work is pointless unless it’s your weak spot. Most of us struggle from the floor to mid/upper shin not the lock out… smarter to put more effort into training your weakness
Mindset is real I went from grinding out 135 squats week one of lifting to 315 orp in like 2 and half months of casual training. Then I went mindset mode and just threw everything I had in me at lifting and hit 405 like two weeks after the 315 grinder. Half of your strength is locked behind mental blocks thinking “wow that was so hard I guess that’s all I got”
looks like the old school boogs is reigniting, some of the old videos of Jefferson pulls and hack deadlifts are some of the best lifting videos on the internet and originally made me start actually pushing myself to thee limit so thank you very much cant wait to see the content coming soon!
This reminds me of Ed Coan saying how he never knew the weight he was pulling in comp. He made it a point to never know what he pulled until after the fact. Because it’s a MINDSET!
tore my distal bicep tendon 5cm and getting surgery late. Really needed a good peptalk for surgical procedure coming up.. hope to be in the gym again in the near future
Maybe I’m being selfish but I am glad things happened the way they do and we are getting frequent uploads now! I am 100% sure this will Work out best for all of us, Boogz included
Mind > matter over anything. Started lifting in highschool, 12 years non stop, about 8-9 years shredded straight. Haven't trained for a few years but when my mind is good, energy is good, strength still there and physique still on point. Just make sure to eat mostly good food, do things you enjoy, if nothing is left, then seek help because we all know we are pretty awesome!
Professor Omega by Morgan Willis is one of my FAVORITE pr songs. Always works on my behind the back deads. On the road to 600lbs rn thanks to you and these types of videos Eric
I think all of us are stronger than we think it's just the noise around us that limits most people, you can either use it as fuel or just let it "humble" you and be under everyone else
These talks about mindset are true and they are legitimately helpful. Just hit 445lbx3 on deadlift, which was a weight and rep PR. Then watched this video and hit 455lbx2. Thank you for the mindset reminder.
But Mike Israetel said that if you drop the weight to 185 or so, pause at the knees for one second, proceed to lockout with a 10 second shrug hold in the contracted position (obviously X squared (X+Y3)) is the right way to deadlift.
Very true! I remember I used to squat all the time and just started to deadlift; I learned form but everyone online put fear into me about pushing too hard. I remember I was doing 315 when my buddy was like "you can do way more than that that went up easy" sure enough, that day kept loading plates, hit 405, and 445 next week! it really is the MINDSET
Sticky’s rants are so reassuring that like-minded chooks are also out there, always working to be the Top Chook. May your tunes be delicious today, fellas.
I’ve had similar things happen on days that I least expect it! Nowhere near the weight you’re pulling, but still when you’re in the right mindset shit gets done!
That's so true, man. I have a home gym and lift alone but when I go to the commercial gym and have eyes on me, I just feel the extra energy - I perform better.
April of this year, 2024, I benched 225 for the first time. Between then and June, I tried 235 4 times and couldn't even get it off my chest. Today, probably less than 2 months after I last tried it, I did 235 with relative ease. The whole time before I lifted it I was telling myself I can do it it's light weight it's going to be easy, and I hit that shit. Felt real good too.
I just wanted to give you a big thank you for your videos. They have helped me a lot in some trying times. Keep being you and doing the videos YOUR way, people will catch on since you can't fake being genuine! 💪
This video was incredibly well timed for me. I think I've been getting in my own head recently between lifting, life stress, etc and the reminder that sometimes it's just a mindset was eye opening. It's time to dig in and get sh** done.
Inspiring stuff from Sticky Ricky. I am not a Math Rocket Surgeon either, but I do recognize a Horse Force when I see one. The Boogs is back, that's for certain.

I hit a 500 pound squat when I had the flu, It was a 50 pound pr. I almost shit my pants.
So true
Yeah I’ve had some amazing workouts at like 4-5 hours of sleep
Honestly, I feel it's better to call it off and rest so you can come back stronger next time.
Eddie Hall did the same "half rep" deadlifts while training for his 500kg deadlift. He knew he could fully lock it out when it counted.
Crazy that ppl are yapping about half reps when lifting almost 800 lb lmao
Nothing is stronger than the MINDSET

When I first tried squats I could barely stand with 160 pounds . I didn’t think I would ever squat 405, and now I’m doing 3 x 5s with it .
I hope this guy coaches high school athletes. I really needed someone to believe in me in high school. I moved out at 16, worked, did sports, academics etc and just suffered in every aspect. Just set a 5 Rep bench PR at 255 after a week off from being sick. I started yelling it’s a mindset!
Or you got 7 rest days
I was also significantly stronger after sickness. It's the rest.

Because you can only weigh the rocks at home, you can only weigh the rocks you can lift. There's something deep about that
