    I don't think I've ever seen a two door DeSoto. And with a HEMI...how cool. So many cars and trucks there brought back a flood of memories. Especially the 50's Fords. I have dad's '56 now. I love the winch on the Autocar truck. Actually I love the whole thing !! LOL The entire yard isn't a salvage yard..its a gold mine I think. Thank you Rob for taking the time to record this my friend. I'm wondering if the chain drive oilfield rig might have been a Kankakee truck....?? And the little crawler....no details.....Arrrrgggghhhh !! LOL AWESOME FOOTAGE Rob !!

      Thank you for watching my video Wendell! Yes, this yard was like a gold, mine adventure. I think it’s the memories that these vehicles bring that make it so attractive to many of us. I wish I had done a walk around video of that crawler at the end because I keep looking at it now thinking it looks kind of neat sitting there. Even my friend Jeff, who enjoys old tractors mentioned the crawler. I think it’s great that you have your dad’s old Ford vehicle still! Most of the de Soto’s I run into on my adventures are also four-door’s like you mentioned. A friend of a friend bought the Autocar truck and hauled it out last Saturday afternoon so at least we know it is saved. What a beast!!!! Thanks again for watching and commenting. Part two is coming soon. Have a great day. Rob

    People want old vehicles but most people won’t bother fixing everything on one of those cars that needs to be fixed t to be able to drive it. They want it running and cheap. Nothing is easy. Those vehicles deserve another chance.

      @@gaspumprob as they say, old vehicles are only worth what people are willing to pay for them. I know an old woman who owns a 1937 rusted out REO truck, she is selling it, she wants $37,000 for it. She is convinced that it’s worth a lot of money. It hasn’t ran since the mid 1960s. That little helicopter 🚁 in your intro. Uncle Sam at one-time gave me a job offer to fly those things. Can't say that I took the job. But won't say that I didn't either. With the right armament you can cut down a bullet every square inch and covered a football field. That brought back some memories. Just saying. Also how that ended is reason why I never got into another chopper.

      That would have been an interesting job for you!!! My father built model airplanes since he was a child. He served in the Korean War. He was building a small airplane while resting in the barracks one night. His senior officer looked at the plane and complimented his craftsmanship and design. He was called in to the sergeant’s office a few days later and was put on a special assignment to build a military miniature spy plane. He received honors for helping with the war effort with this project. My mom has a newspaper article about this project and the recognition he received.

      @@gaspumprob well that's pretty cool 😎. That's really cool 😎😎😎! They once gave me the presidential helping hands 🏅 medal. No that's not what it's called but that's what everybody calls it. Google it if you're curious. And has his hand on it so that's it's called a helping hand. I guess it was all in a day's work and they wanted to give me a little shiny thing and a ribbon 🎗️. Little-known politician at the time shook my hand and presented it to me. You might have heard of him. John Ashcroft is his name. But building a little spy plane now that's really something. You'll never know how many lives that saved. Anyting that and shorten the war saves lives. Any recon information saves lives.

    I think it was at 17 minutes and 53 seconds. But it was like maybe a 51 or 52 Oldsmobile 88 rocket. Some of that trim would work on my 50 olds 88 . One of these days I'll put it up on my channel. I saw a lot of different parts like that front clip on that Ford station wagon about nineteen sixty-six. Too bad they are so far away. Well look forward to next video

I spent four hours there that day then left to visit a friend who lives near the yard.

      @@gaspumprob a generator three packages of cut-off Wheels cutting torch goggles and watering hose. I fill up a semi pretty quick. I think it's a custom liner maybe crestliner that I've got the 2-door post. It is all original down to the VA automatic and I think it's a 53 if I remember right but I could use a little bit of trim and rear lens for the brake lights. Like I said I look at this oh well I'll find it somewhere. The thing is it seems so clear and everything seems in such good shape for what it is. It's been at the yard sale closed and I've not had the opportunity to get there. So on Wednesday does he have to have everything crust and remove or does he gets leave the stuff for the new owner?

      It is a woman and a man . Brother and sister who lost their father who collected all these over the years owning a tow business. I met both of them and they treated me very well. Let me have run of the place. The woman sold me the Datsun truck over the phone when I called her on Monday. I asked about it and she told me at that moment two other guys are trying to beat her up on the price. I asked what she wanted to sell it for and she shot me a reasonable price. My response was I will take it for that. She then hung up the phone and the two men asked about it again. She told them she just sold it . She told me later that these two lowballed became very angry and upset because they did not get the truck. She thanked me many times over for this sale. She told me she is very reasonable with everyone buy many guys are trying to take advantage of her by lowballing.

    I don't like that four letter word on that Dodge pickup 🛻 SOLD. It was almost enough to get me out there. At about 5 minutes and 42 seconds. The white pickup is that the sixties Datsun truck you're talkin about? Although it looked a little newer. Maybe early 80s hatchback Toyota Supra. Or at least it's a Celica GT. How much longer before I closed it down? Obviously he isn't going to get everything settled out of there before he crushes out.

    • @gaspumprob
      @gaspumprob  Рік тому +1

      My heart dropped when I saw that Dodge truck marked sold . I would have also been after it. Love the styling of it. The Datsun truck I bought is white and it will appear in part two. I will have to rewatch this and check on what you saw at the time stamp. I did see the Celica GT . The deadline is next Wednesday unfortunately. They are going to be locked out is what I was told. The rain storms messed them up terribly. They had plenty of time but we kept getting pounded with rain and they couldn’t get the sold vehicles out because of mud. That monster forklift even got stuck, I am going to try to use my 200 mile AAA membership to tow that truck to my shop 150 miles away hopefully next Monday. You are right and they know that they are not going to get everything out. A friend of a friend has bought at least 12 trucks. You will see him in the next video. He has a custom international KB 11 truck with a roll off bed for hauling! I did a walk around video while it was running. Part two I think will be very interesting. Thank you for watching and commenting. Appreciate you

      @@gaspumprob well that's too bad. I actually thought two Olds 88 s that summer trim would be useful. I'd love to get a couple of bumpers. Mine need to be rechromed then I'm just never going to do that and then all that little trim on the trunk and the front of the hood is gone. I'm sure I'll run across it somewhere but that Chrome on those cars I'll never find anything like that as far as condition. You know I'm not looking for perfect for what I'm looking for something better than what I've got. It'll be pretty clear why won't affect the car out on video. That's pretty neat your friend of a friend's roll-off wrecker. Being old international rebodied. If I understood you correctly. I left you a few messages and still one loan one because that away your algorithms improve a little bit and I'll just leaving messages as I saw something. Thank you for going out there and video that it's nice to see. Sad that they ain't going to get them out of there. I've already sent it to one guy and that's guarantee he'll send it to about 15 other guys. Well actually at now 1:30 a.m. my time I won't send it until later on today.
