She gets rejected not because of her grades but because in her application she lacks character, due to her parents making her study all the time that means she doesn’t to sports, after school activities and she doesn’t have other commitments so universities don’t see what’s so special abt her

If Sophie was allowed to take extra curriculars such as dancing and she excelled in it. It would have most likely boosted her chance of getting into an ivy league
Poor girl has no me-time. If I was her, I would’ve had a mental breakdown

Apparently not long after this documentary was filmed, Sophie was arrested for possession of marijuana. Can't say i blame her. Maybe if her Dad was more supportive of her 760 score she wouldn't have relapsed. Karma.
Bro it’s like the only F she ever received was her gender on her report card.
They didn’t accept her because she didn’t join any clubs or activities. Like colleges want more from a student than number

What breaks me the most is when I hear their voices. Their tones express all their feelings. You can just hear their exhaustion and emptiness.

You cannot live your failed dream though your kids. The kids has their own dream to fulfill.

The look on Sophie's face when her dad wasn't that happy with her getting 760 on both subjects just sucked the life out of her.
this is a perfect example of conditional love. their affection towards her is based on her academic success.

I’m 16, Spain. My mom doesn’t really care about grades, she just wants me to pass so I can study whatever I want later on. She also lets me go out whenever I want until whenever. I’m really grateful for that. It normally doesn’t happen, but I guess freedom is a very important value in my family as well as having as many options as I can. <3
Seeing this video made me realize what amazing parents I have. I have always being good with grades and all, but there are times where I have too much pressure and get C’s or B’s and my mom always hugs me and tells me how proud of me she is because she sees that I am working hard and that even without an A or a perfect SAT score, she believes on me and that I will have a very good future. I could not ask for better parents ngl. ❤️
