My daughter loved this movie when she was little. Now I'm a grandpa and watched it yesterday with her and my 8 year old grandson. Man I got so emotional. 3 generations watching it together. Got teary eyed, and had to fake a piss break😂😂😂
I want this song played at my funeral, because I want to be welcomed by my dad, both sets of grandparents. I have cancer and I want to be remembered for who I was, it sucks but but I’m trying to beat horrible disease
HacksignKT in the early 90s everybody thought the 80s was naff - but with a bit more time distance we can appreciate its merits again. Now the 90s, and 2000 seems a bit cheesy to me!!
HacksignKT I agree. This movie taught the importance of Innocence, and Love. Everyone has it. And many don't know that Innocence and Love are Make the best of Allies. This gives us all the Power to Combat Darkness! The world is in Turmoil, today. The TV News speaks of too many Murders and Robberies all the time, now! Only one man can save us all!! When the Day of Judgement arrives,I hope I get sanctuary in Heaven, the same as you!
In my opinion, our culture has become increasingly shallow. The other aspect is that big budget movies don't take risks any more, in order to maximize their profit margin. So we end up with art that isn't true unadulterated expression, but simply a business. Perhaps they're the cause of our culture being shallow, because our entertainment is shallow. And that's what influences us from early on. I think we've lost touch with the things that matter.
Time changes everything. This movie was a product of the 80's and we no longer live there. Appreciate the fact that we got this movie at all. You can't make a movie exactly like this in a different space. You can't make a desert movie on the ocean.
This is why Tom Cruise is considered to be the last of his kind or maybe the only one in Hollywood who refused to make movies that heavily depend on CGIs. He really put his mind, body and soul just to entertain us. I will forever be his fan.
So I'm sitting here totally drenched in vodka berries, writing the same stupid poetry, feeling that same "what the hell?". I do some surfing and found this piece of gold. I can't stop crying. Thanks to the person who posted this. Nice to take a cruise down a long unused avenue in my mind. Heavy sigh!
+Lynda Staack don't let go of your muse, darling. EVER. Right now it may be steeped in lonesome times, but that IS due to change...even for you. This, too, shall pass...all of the emotion I ever poured into my music is now going to pay off after 25 years of writing (and 200 songs later)
A decade unlike any before it, gone for all time. Never again will creativity ignite and grow in complete isolation from other minds until it is ready to be seen.
+indigodream21 Im lucky enough to have that version on dvd recorded from tape that my dad recorded all those years ago. The other soundtrack is just a noise
God this song is gorgeous!! What a melody. So dark and haunting. Jon Anderson was beyond perfect to sing this! I don't think anyone else could capture the mood and the gloomy-ness as he did. Such melancholy memories listening to this on cassette back in the late 80's/90's. So wish they would offer this to download, The whole soundtrack is amazing.
Tangerine Dream, kicked ass on this soundtrack in the one week they had to do it. To say otherwise is folly. Let someone else have a week and come anywhere close this whole soundtrack.
I hate to be biased, but it really is difficult for me to disagree. Peter Gabriel also did a couple of soundtracks that are up there. Legend, Birdy, and Passion are likely the holy trinity for me. The Italian band, Goblin, also did a good number of soundtracks that are probably worth mentioning, from what I've heard.
I am in my mid-30's and by all rights shouldnt have any knowledge on Jon Anderson let alone this obscure song. But I have to say that I absolutely love this song. Jon's vocals absolutely blow me away in this song. I loved this movie as a kid and happened to find the sound track for sale on some bargain table years ago and I bought it on a whim. I couldnt tell you how many times I listened to this song over and over and over. Jon's vocals are sorely underappreciated by so many. I wish I could sing like him. At about 3:44, this song really illustrates how awesome his voice is. My kids think I am weird for liking this music, but its just so awesome that I cant ignore it.
Why should you have no knowledge of Jon Anderson? Unless you only listen to current music or don't listen to rock(let a lone progressive rock) I wouldn't think that's the case. Jon has one of the most recognizable voices in rock.
Certainly you know that Jon Anderson was a lead vocal for the rock group "YES", with many well-known hits like "Owner Of A Lonely Heart", "Love Will Find A Way", "Changes", "Leave It", "It cCan Happen", "Rythmn Of Love", etc... Not to mention, Jon's also done solo projects.
I don't think Jon's voice is underappreciated. He's objectively an excellent singer with a very distinctive voice, Of course there must be some people who may prefer a different type of voice. Jon has lots of appreciators, personally I would put him in my list of 5 favourite singers. He never sings out of tune and his voice is so suitable for songs like Legend. I think some Yes albums are incredibly good and Jon is the icing on the cake of one of the best groups of musicians of the seventies.

Jon Anderson is from another realm, and to have Tangerine Dream and Jon do a song together is nirvana. It doesn't get any better than this song, which lives in its own time and space, a singular work of genius.
Straight up tragedy to lose Edgar Froese today. Among the very elite of the pioneers of electronica, along with likes of Vangelis and Jean Michel Jarre. This particular piece, the intro for the movie Legend, was and is, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful tracks ever made. Thank you for the Electronic Dreams Edgar!

They could make a video game that follows the Legend storyline even more than Legends of Zelda. Actually tell the story through a RPG real-time action games like The Elder Scrolls series. I was 2 the first time I saw this movie, and the first time I saw Lord Darkness .. I gasped and my heart stopped. Not out of fear but because until then I had never seen anything like him and I thought he was beautiful. First crush and will always have my love.
OMG...I thought I was the only one who was completely mesmerized and attracted to Lord Darkness. I know it was only a character but wow...it was a pretty strong reaction as a young girl.
I want this song played at my funeral whenever my time comes to be with the Lord, Jesus, my sister, my grandpa, my uncle, and my great grandma. Whenever you are ready lord.😏
How? Why? I can't, and I never could accept it. I find it absolutely unbearably awful. I'd much rather hear Diamanda Galas' voice, and I am serious. How can anyone appreciate this annoying voice? In my opinion, the music is just fine without the stupid lyrics and Jon's hideously ugly voice.
I have this on a crappy old VHS. Now I need it on DVD. I love this movie - so do my kids - now late teenagers. I remember, when they were bored or were being a pain, I'd stick this video on, and there would be silence for two hours. A classic that will never be bettered!
I was born in '92 and i watched Legend, labyrinth, never ending story...all those movies. my kids are gonna do the same, these movies have such a great message in all of them. it makes me look back at my childhood and smile. great stories:)
OMG I finally found the movie's ending song that I just remembered was one of the most beautiful songs I've heard and when I reviewed Legend I was horrified that Loved by the Sun wasn't on the soundtrack anymore... Thank you so much for that!
I can't hear that part now, where the singing fades, without hearing Tim Curry's sinister frickin laugh in the background. I love the theatrical release of this movie so much better than director's cut (not that it wouldn't have been cool to just have a few more scenes added)
The first time I heard this I was obsessed with it, and I couldn't find out who was singing. Years later I discovered Yes and freaked out with excitement to learn who their singer was. Of course, I became a Yes fanatic, and this was the beginning of my love affair with progressive rock.
This song and this movie remind me of all the other fantasy movies of the 80's: Never Ending Story, Willow, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal and Return to Oz. That last one I mentioned is greatly underappreciated. Great score on that movie too!
legend, labyrinth,Dark crystal, never ending story,The last unicorn...my whole child hood.

'Legend' is essentially a live action 'Legend of Zelda'. Think about it. Then realize this film came out BEFORE 'Zelda'.
Odds are Shigeru Miyamoto was inspired by this movie when creating Legend of Zelda.
Oh my god! Someone else who realizes this! I've been saying this for years!

I want this song played at my funeral whenever my time comes to be with the Lord, Jesus, my sister, my grandpa, my uncle, and my great grandma. Whenever you are ready lord.😏
Jon Anderson has the voice of an angel. No apologies!
thanks for posting this!
I LOVE THIS SONG
jon andersons voice
How?
The vivid memory of hearing Jon Anderson voice while watching this movie I knew nothing about on VHS.
Sublime moments you can never recreate.
The whole film was shot indoors. So even those outside elements that made you think they were outside had you fooled. I love this movie.
Yes when I seen the making of it I was shocked to learn that. Every detail was perfect
Still at me age now,, this song still sends chills down my spine,,, beautiful song still
Such an epic song. His vocals are so spine-tingling.
I have this on a crappy old VHS. Now I need it on DVD.
I love this movie - so do my kids - now late teenagers.
I remember, when they were bored or were being a pain, I'd stick this video on, and there would be silence for two hours.
A classic that will never be bettered!
Walmart has it on Blu-ray with both versions of the movie and the making of it
It's been around 20ish years since I last saw this movie and I have to say it's still awesome!
I loved this song & movie when I was a little girl back in the 80s
I LOVED THIS SONG JON ANDERSON WHAT A VOICE I POSTED IT IT REMINDS OF ME OF MY DAUGHTER WHO WE LOST AT 17
Check out the album yes big generator
How can Tom cruise want to hide this gem, it's his best movie!
Opens the mind's eye bk to mystical realms 🦋
Get so emotional listening every time, think it's Jon's voice but the whole song just melts me.
If they remake this movie, they damn well better take the time to REALLY make it! Such a classic movie & this song is incredible!!!
Sweet songs of youth the wise the meeting of all wisdom to believe in the good in man
omg- this is one of my favorite movies along with :Labryinth"
This is still one of my favorite movies
It's good to know that I'm not the only 46 years old who cries when I hear this song
Still Epic In 2020! ❤🎼
Legends can be now and forever loved by the sun...
Epic track!!
Glad I grew up with such movies.
WOW!!! I love this song! I wish I had this LP!
Childhood Memories ;)
I can't hear that part now, where the singing fades, without hearing Tim Curry's sinister frickin laugh in the background. I love the theatrical release of this movie so much better than director's cut (not that it wouldn't have been cool to just have a few more scenes added)
Best movie in a long time,no cgi, compelling soundtrack, and in my opinion the best portrayal of the devil......FIN....
Teaching us love for goodness sake.
Sweet songs of youth, the wise, the meeting of all wisdom. To Believe in the good in man.🥰
yea can't say i can listen to it w out crying lol
Love is the law of this universe
That's so incredibly beautiful song !!
It absolutely resonates in me !!
I love it!
Seen this before or after 12. Loved every minute, watched as a adult wildly inappropriate. I love this song 🙏
great song
The first time I heard this I was obsessed with it, and I couldn't find out who was singing. Years later I discovered Yes and freaked out with excitement to learn who their singer was. Of course, I became a Yes fanatic, and this was the beginning of my love affair with progressive rock.
Great song brilliant film
"Sweet songs of youth, the wise, the meeting of all wisdom... To believe in the good in man."
Damn, I forgot I wrote this. 12 years goddamn ;_;
one of the best soundtracks i've heard. the Bryan Ferry track is amazing also
OMG! I missed so much this song!!!
Ana Marleen Me too..😍💘💕💞
There's nothing like my 8❤️S .. I was 12 when I saw this awesome movie in theaters with my auntie and cousins
This song and this movie remind me of all the other fantasy movies of the 80's: Never Ending Story, Willow, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal and Return to Oz. That last one I mentioned is greatly underappreciated. Great score on that movie too!
