Please make a Part 2 video 😊I really enjoy seeing apartments and accommodation in other cities. Finding just the right place that has everything you want is a challenge. I visited San Francisco 5 years ago and the city charmed me - it was lovely and I enjoyed exploring with my sons and my now ex husband. We visited friends who have a beautiful painted house that they renovated to perfection. I was like “ home sweet home 😂.
@@zorymory I watched it just before going to bed and did not have a chance to comment. It was great seeing all the different types of apartments and the pros and cons. I’m very happy that you and Henry found a fantastic new place. Good luck with the sorting out 😌I saw your Instagram post this morning.
This was so fun! I did a show in San Francisco for 3 months in 2000, and even then it was really pricey. This was pre-Airbnb but we managed to find someone to rent us a really nice 2 bedroom apartment in a house in Noe Valley. I don’t remember how much it was, but it was a dreamy place to spend a season. Part 2, please!
My husband and I moved last summer and I totally agree, the search can be very daunting and feeling like a full time job 😅 I love love love the last place (Hope that’s the one) Either way, good luck with your search! ❤️
if you work from home most of the time, you should look for the sub-urban area like South San Francisco, Daily city, San Bruno, Pacifica etc. Much bigger homes / apartments with better views and yards. Lots of shopping areas and places to go in the weekend like hiking. And plenty of free street parking! I grew up in San Francisco but I live in various suburbs around San Francisco for the last 8 years. I never regret moving out of San Francisco.
@@zorymory I used to work in downtown SF before and I would take the Bart there. You will be surprised you don't need to have a car on weekdays except weekends when you go out for shopping. There are many new apartment complexes built within walking distance to the Bart station. At the end, it is better to buy a home than paying someone else' mortgage 🤔especially in the bay area.
@@zorymory and I lived in San Bruno Avalon before. Not a bad place. It is within walking distance to the mall and the Bart Station and it is much cheaper now and within your budget. There is a gym and swimming pool included. You can find lots of availability within your budget. Good luck searching!
Very interesting! Good luck! Just a few notes...the closet when you enter an apartment is the coat closet. And yes, even in SF, one needs a coat! Especially if you live out in the avenues, where I am sure you can get great deals right now! Great neighborhoods on both sides of the park! On the roof, where you could grow herbs (rather than spices), the access doesn't look too safe (or legal). Be sure to get renters insurance! And the subway tile was lovely in the kitchens! Note they are called just subway tile--not NY Subway tile. 😉 good luck! A part 2 would be great!
yes part 2! could you include tips about moving to sf or what you would’ve wanted to know before moving or looking. That’d be super helpful, or like where to start
I would like to see a part 2. I renegotiated my rent in the Mission area for 20% less but will be searching for a new apt. in the summer. Prices dropped to $2600,wow! You are right, it is a lot of work but exciting too. Good luck!
@@zorymory All equity residential properties are down over 20%. Many have additional months free. No bad landlord bs and all done online. Last unit you viewed was gorgeous!
I loved this video! Would definitely enjoy a part 2. Ironically I just interviewed for an internship yesterday thats located in SF. Glad to hear that housing is a bit more affordable should I end up there! :)
When I moved to California (from NYC) and found that refrigerators did not come standard when renting and apartment, it was quite a shock! So, note for apt hunters--if there is a frig, ask if it comes with the apt. Also, regarding the stove--gas is always better! And older stoves are actually more reliable than newer models, and definitely better than electric. So, just bc it looks old, don't count it out so fast!
@@zorymory That did not come with one? Or didn't have one in the apt? That is why I say to ask. Many learn the hard way is all I am saying. Just good to ask!
The apt for $2500 is a steal! Parking is a necessity in SF and hard to find--something I wish I had had when I took my first apt in SF. 20 years ago. Back then the prices were way higher than even now. Crazy!
@@zorymory i mean higher. That is how real estate goes... in the early 2000's the market was insane (check Zillow), due to the dot.com boom. Which then burst in 2008 with the financial crisis. It then evened out slowly. And now with Covid, we see another crisis that is bursting the bubble. Long term, it doesn't matter. But for renters, it makes a huge difference. Regardless, it is always good to see the history of property first.
So cool to see someone still in San Francisco! I’m looking for a new place in the city sometime this summer. What did you use to find these apartments? Best of luck with your search :)
I couldn't get myself to leave. Yes, it's expensive but it's so beautiful, the weather is great and there is a lot of outdoor activities (perfect for a lockdown). Also I'm already living away from my family and moving away from my friends seemed like too much stress:) I usually search only on Craigslist. I find that most agents are stuck in the last century and adopt new platforms really slowly so CL gives you the most choice/best selection
@@zorymory It is a beautiful city, especially with golden gate park being shut down to cars it’s been lovely to bike ride through there on the weekends. That’s a good tip, thank you :)

Great video, definitely make a part 2! I’m not very familiar with San Francisco - where do you usually find places like these to rent? Zillow, Craigslist, or elsewhere?
I personally always go with Craigslist because it has the most listings to choose from. A lot of real estate agents are pretty old school and don't really adopt new platforms
Thanks! Craigslist - it’s still the most used platform by agents and landlords. I’ve tried Zillow and FB marketplace too but the selection there is limited. I was checking Craigslist every morning with my coffee so I can snag the best listings right when they go up.
Seeing how you love France would you live there? The appartments look large and decent. I was looking at a documentary and it showed thousands of homelessness in SAN Francisco.
I would love to live in France for sometime but a lot of my clients are in the US and Henry would need a visa. Maybe we’ll do it. As for the homeless many cities have this problem but the difference is that San Francisco is not trying to chase people away from the public eye. San Francisco offers homeless people food and shelters (unlike many other cities). In fact other cities send their homeless people to San Francisco (give them free tickets) in order not to have to deal with the issue. In many ways San Francisco is still one fantastic city to live in
@@zorymory That's great that they look after the homeless but most are on drugs as well. We have thousands of homeless also here in Australia. I'm glad it's still a great place to live.
