    About this video
    In this video Zane from Audio Tech TV (formerly Simple Green Tech) looks at the Cherry Audio Pro Soloist synth plugin. This is an emulation of the Arp Pro Soloist that was released in the 70s so it has tons of 70s and 80s character to it. This Arp Pro Soloist VST might be the only way to add those rare sounds to your tracks.

    Those that don’t see the point of this plug-in don’t have the lead lines from In The Cage, Cinema Show and many other 70s Genesis classics in their very DNA. The enhancements of aftertouch, effects, matrix, poly and layers makes what may be perceived as a one-trick-pony very usable and functional in modern Prog. I also have the Cherry Quadra, the GForce Oddity & Minimosta but these sounds are otherwise not available in plug-in form and I, for one, will be purchasing.

      I bought this synth and managed to play through quite a few presets - haven’t tried programming it yet, but it doesn’t matter. The sounds in the Pro Soloist are Amazing! CA managed to capture the tones, the feel, the glide, all of it. The poly sounds are very functional too. I’m not usually really big on using presets in my own music, these are outstanding. Easily my favorite Cherry Audio product - that includes the Quadra and the GX80.

    Thank you Zane, for getting hold of and demonstrate these new VSTs. I don't think I would have the time to keep up with all that stuff...

    Hi, I was wondering if on waveform, there was a way in the midi piano roll that it only lets you play notes in a specific key (like helps you not play off key in c minor for example)

      Just forget this piece. There are a lot of other pieces, which do exactly do what U want. This is early 7ties trash, though upgraded with "polyphony" and "Echo" and "Reverb".

      In your DAW, use a free plugin called Chordz. Any key, all your correct notes on the white keys.
      Chordz is wired in the DAW to your VST instrument. It’s very easy.

      This comment seems to come up a lot. The Quadra contains what amounts to an Odyssey for its lead synth which is nowhere near the sophistication of a Pro Soloist. It is completely incapable of producing the wonderful detailed timbres of the PS. No keyboard synth-in-a-box is capable of covering PS sounds. Some modulars can (not Moog) if you had a very particular set of modules which virtually no modular synth ever had. The Pro Soloist is unique.

    • @oupahens9219
      @oupahens9219 5 місяців тому

      @@mrbmodules2938 Is this a hair-splitting thing? Some Modulars can do it, but no Modulars can do it. What do you mean?

    • @mrbmodules2938
      @mrbmodules2938 5 місяців тому

      @@oupahens9219 To clarify, some modulars had the necessary modules available, but no standard configuration commonly sold contained enough of them. For example, the ARP2500 had the 1047 Filter/Resonator, but any system sold would have only one. You'd need five. Moog modulars do not have the proper resonant 2-pole filter available at all. You could definitely put together a Eurorack system that could do it, but that would really cost you -- and of course you could not save your work.

    It’s not jumping out and saying buy me I’m afraid! Their Synthex ad GS/CS synths are wonderful things but this just doesn’t have the same appeal for the same price..

    • @oupahens9219
      @oupahens9219 5 місяців тому

      Yes, they are in principle. But who is now in a cover band to play exactly that stuff?
      I do buy all these Virtuals from Cherry, just because I am interested in how these old synths actually were constructed soundwise.
      Bit of an Archeologist there. Hardly ever, I use one in my recent compositions. Mercury 6 had something though usable.
      As well as the older MemoryMoog, then. Maybe I will go back to the PolyMode sometimes.
      Other ones, interesting, but never used more than once.
      For me Cherry is an educational company, which explains with actual hands on, how these old ditties worked.
      I like.

    At 01:26 you were completely right. Does not sound too good. In a DAW there are for similar shitty sounds hundreds of effects available anyway. Nobody needs this piece. Otherwise, Banks would still be hammering onto that cherry of equipment even today.

    Sounds like zeroes and ones that try to vaguely sound like a soloist , digital phaser sound. ,the usual suspects
