Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole! Hi Ren was most of our first introduction to Ren and what an introduction! He has so much amazing music and keeps coming out with more. Enjoy!

I am an old, old school country guy and absolutely love Ren. Literally love every one of his songs. Ren is by far the most talented artist ive seen and heard over the last 50 years of my life. He can do everything. He writes his own lyrics, beats, plays multiple instruments at a high level, raps, and sings beautifully, and he can beatbox all while battling sickness and staying humble.
Right? I'm 63 and rap music usually rubbed me the wrong way. It wasn't the technique; it was the gratuitous shockng and sloppy use of language. I really ADMIRE his "wordsmithing" and he is telling a deeply important story. I could listen to this man all day!

Here is some additional information on Ren's story from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Erin Gill is a British musician/independent artist; born in Wales on March 29, 1990; he eventually moved to Brighton. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, Ren began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue; subsequently, his contract with Sony was dissolved.
Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure.
Ren is currently in Calgary, Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023) undergoing IV and other interventions five days a week. Ren recently underwent wisdom tooth removal and cavitation surgery. In addition, his Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals as well as his bones/joints. Now, Ren is receiving additional treatments for this previously undiagnosed condition.

Ren's YT channel has less than 1 million subscribers while his videos have garnered millions and millions of views. Listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to the world, and his work is important in these troubling times. Someone has finally created a Wikipedia page for Ren, so there is additional information available.
Here is the link to Ren’s GoFundMe page to raise money for his current treatment. Ren has exceeded his initial goal. However, his goal was very conservative and did not reflect the added costs of unforeseen surgical procedures, and treatment for additional health issues such as MCAD.

Chalk Outlines is so good and very emotional
Was wondering when you'd get here...Was not disappointed. The story behind Ren, is that he contracted Lyme Disease, and was promptly misdiagnosed, was told that it was all in his head, and was prescribed heavy psych meds...for years...as his Lyme Disease went untreated and unmitigated. He finally got to see real doctors, who realized what was happening, and he's now in treatment for all the damage done, both by the Lyme Disease and by the psyche meds, which alone, will seriously warp a mentally-healthy person's mind.

@@TOOSUSHI Yeah, especially because he was an up-n-coming busker in Brighton at the time, and had just inked a deal with Sony (IIRC). His worsening condition eventually cost him the label deal.

Ren is a musical genius and phenom!!!
The line about "she sells seashells shells" is a reference to another one of his songs "Money game part 2". A song you hopefully will react to as you go down the rabbit hole. Every single song of his is 🔥. Most reactors next either react to "Sick boi" or "The tale of Jenny and screech (Full version)". If you thought this was musical theatre, "Jenny...." and it's plot twist at the end should definitely impress you. To hear more of his actual singing voice, listen to both "Chalk Outlines (live)" and "How to be me (live)" some of his songs are extremely personal and heavy in regards to subject matter (eg "suicide") while others are simply nothing but celebratory fun (eg "what you want"). He contracted Lyme disease yrs ago but went misdiagnosed for almost a decade which wrecked him physically and mentally bit he is doing a great job overcoming his obstacles through sheer perseverance and the art of his music. The bit about hope always makes me tearful. Ren is all genres. He can do everything. His song 'Su!cide', for his friend Joe, who jumped from a bridge 13 years ago, is the most raw, heartbreaking thing you'll ever listen to.

Your appreciation of music and theater should lead you next reaction of REN to be The Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full). It is a masterful story telling piece. For older and more pop sound and one of my favorites is Humble (feat Eden Nash). A more fun side would be the track Losing it. While the song Animal Flow is good, the video is a must watch for the detail of it being a one shot music video. To continue on the theme of this song, Sick Boi is the one to react to.

The version you desire is the one he is wearing Red Suspenders in. The Big Push members are also very talented and artists in their own right.
I remember as a teenager, one night praying and reading my Bible. I felt that God was calling me into ministry - specifically, counseling. When I heard my mom come home, I ran downstairs to tell her. She told me, if this is true, than be prepared for the devil to work overtime to destroy your joy. Sadly, in my life, the devil won. But, when he talks about “shouting into a void that he would defeat the forces of evil”, and that he suffered the consequences for the next 10 years, I SO related to that. I’m glad that he’s been able to use his pain and suffering to be an impact on millions of lives.

I’m a 58 year old eclectic music lover with extra love for 80’s rock. I love Eminem and Tupac. I wasn’t sure I was gonna like this guy and ended up ugly crying through the next 25 times I watched this video. I absolutely love him and his raw talent and honesty is sooo needed right now.
For REN, this was truly his reality. Misdiagnosed with Lyme disease for 7 years by conventional doctors who deemed him mentally ill, but when patients are experiencing neurological symptoms, they very often become misdiagnosed. Lyme disease can present itself as many neurological conditions including Acute Transverse Myelitis[3], Ptosis[4], Seizures, and Chronic Fatigue[1] and these symptoms can be often misdiagnosed or deemed psychosomatic.

I am voting for The Hunger next. It really highlights Rens bars and his ability to rap. Its more upbeat. Its easy to go down many of Rens other “therapy” songs but for your audience they need to see his many other talents. He is far better than NF et al. He is up there with M&M. Loved it! ❤

The only other artists that has affected me like this is NF. It was definitely a significant emotional event when I watched Hi Ren for the first time.
Felt this to a T. NF saved me from myself when I was at my lowest and then Ren comes along an adds a whole new element with the live story telling, amazing guitar playing an then also being open and putting it all out for the world to see. That's not easy for anyone. They are both masters of their craft. Both can rap and sing. Would absolutely love to see a collab with the two of them.
@@chank2710Each to their own, but I see NF as a bit of a one trick pony, especially so when compared to Ren. Not gonna lie, that one trick is a decent one, but I see Hopsin as a better comparison to Ren.

Ren is so inspirational and talented it’s crazy. I found him about a month ago and I’ll a 57 yr old grandma that suffered for 8 yrs before I was diagnosed with Lupus and his music hits my soul 😢💜💜

I heard this song a day or two after it came out on UA-cam Ren is the best in the game right now he speaks the truth. Great artist, he does Broadway productions just a genius. This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome.
There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me… just as this song also resonates.
As a person who’s never been able to escape imposter syndrome and negative self-talk, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that I *know* I have-was sooo important.
It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it.
*Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison.

As someone who discovered Ren with this song as well and I let the song marinate and when I discovered him busking with Sam Tompkins then him talking about "where's ur top 10 song and interview with Oprah" and when I listened to his other bag I realized that Ren got layers on layers

My first time seeing you do a reaction..i will never forget the song.. it was Creep being sung by Haley Reinhart. That was years ago. But ya , I literally have spent weeks listening to all his music, then again watching everyone react to all his music..
