This has always been one of my favourite albums. Raw, youthful energy, high emotion, dynamic musicality, it's a hard rock essential. Baz Bach's vocals are showcased here better than any other album too. One of the greatest to ever do it. Makes me feel 17 again. 🤘☺️
Sebastian Bach had one of the best voices in rock at the time.
He was a bad ass singer to bad the booze got him for a long time
And the best leather pants lol
This whole album is killer.
Skid Row is from the late 80s & went into the 90s. They had a bunch of hits on MTV, kind of hairband but not really (the guys all had incredible hair, lol) but they kicked ass, too. They have a couple hugely popular power ballads, too, since Sebastian Bach's voice is incredible. Later he did a couple big Broadway musicals, like Jeckyll & Hyde. He's still out there singing now!
This is my favorite Skid Row track and it’s not even close.🔥🤘🏻
Love Sebastian Bach. His vocal were amazing.Still sounds good today.
Never thought of aerosmith, but now I definitely hear it
Skid Row rocks. If y’all haven’t heard a band called Warrant. Very good 80’s band. Check out Uncle Tom’s cabin or I saw Red.
Bad boys from Jersey.
That album is my favorite by them. Lots of attitude.
Gotta crank some Nazareth "Miss Misery"
SACTOWN cow bell! Nice one and great change of pace. Sebastian’s voice is dope. I remember you (his best vocal) and 18 and life are a must. Nice hat La. Go A’s!
The story goes the record execs wanted another "softer" album, not unlike their debut.
Skid Row wanted hard, heavy....execs said "#$&$ you"....Skid Row said "#$&€ you" and this angry yet classic Skid Row BANGER of an album was birthed....and boy were they pissed.
😂🤘
It definitely had a more ass kicker vibe for sure.
Just think about leaving the concert from the second row and not being able to hear!!! Awesome! Please do more Skid Row!!
1st row and getting slapped in the face by Sebastian's luxurious hair🤣
Right behind GnR for this era/genre of rock, imo. This was one of their heavier tunes, but they always had great groove. Far more rougher and rawer than their bedazzled contemporaries.
This was their second album, from 1991. The singer is from Toronto, and the band from New Jersey.
Seen them live. Damn they were great!!
80's Metal.
Very underrated Skid Row album.
Nothing like their first album, they just wanted to Rock out on this one.
If you want a softer Skid Row, try their first album. lotsa MTV video hits on that one.
18 and Life, I Remember You. Solid album
I saw them in 1991 , maybe it was 1992, performing in a parking lot from the back of a couple of flatbeds in the rain. It was a great show.
Not a Skid Row fan really, but this song is a banger. The guitar riff in this is brilliant. Slave to the Grind is also a banger from Skid Row.
This album is killer...Saw them live early 1990's in Brazil...
The music video for this song was great when it came out
there greatest hits is a solid investment. solid workout music
This was their comeback hard album. It was a surprise and really good. A departure from their earlier stuff.
This is one you probably really need the lyrics for.
Hair metal at its finest
As usual great reaction guys. Sebastian Bach has always been a great vocalist and although Skid Row had a few famous power ballad songs there were probably the closest to hard rock/heavy metal of all the hair bands of the era. Slave to the Grind is another rocker to check out.
Band is awesome. Bas on vocals is awesome. Album is awesome.
Great reaction. Skid Row is a rare band that hit it big with a commercial hard rock sound on their first record and decided to turn the metal factor up to 11 on their second record. The first time I heard this track I thought the same as you... maybe this is too heavy for me. But soon I loved it.
That will get you going!
Great song & reaction guys. 😊
This song and that album are one of my favorites. I'm so glad to see somebody react to this versus some of their other stuff. Just a little trivia Sebastian Bach the lead singer actually was on Broadway in Jekyll and Hyde
Great album!
That was really great I enjoyed that thank you 2.
Bad Company - Live for the Music
Sounds a lot like Aerosmith and Guns N Roses. The lead singer is a pretty boy (at least in the early days) named Sebastian Bach.
i think that really held him back, great sound , but guys didnt want to follow a band with a guy that looked like Heather Locklear. lol. i still think they kicked ass
Hair band extravaganza!😂,yeah I remember,a lot of those went down, the hard part was telling them apart .like radio rap today.we are All survives of music industry mayhem 😢🤣🤣everyone wants to look like Robert plant!❤️
They toured with Pantera and they turned up the heavy on this record. Slave to the Grind is a great song too.
I was at that concert in 1992 Philly.
Pantera & Skidrow
So... In my opine this song (and WILD SIDE by Motley Crue) defined and denounced the dark side of the decadence and debauchery that epitomized the 1980's hair metal scene. Of course, the bands themselves were partaking but at least they were self-aware. Plus... Groovy music!
This is my fave Skid Row song and it is groooooooovy. The vocals are amazing.
Skid Row what can I say.. Memories of Seaside Heights NJ. Living the life & let's not forget about LOVE🤘🍻💞
I like the shout out to Whodini with the “freaks come out at night”. That song came out a little before this one
Best time to watch and hear this song is when they did it on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE......FUCKING AWESOME AND A MUST WATCH !!!!...FEBRUARY 1991
I didn't realize it then when it came out, but he was definitely co-opting the Steven Tyler sound.
Old school plenty of good tunes enjoy
Do Dazed and Confused live from MSG
Paradise city .......where girls are pretty...take ...me.... home......
Check out the full album
They pretty much kicked ass back then. Off the hook. That first lp set the standard.
Nobody reacts to anything of skid row's second album. This album kicks ass.
I liked Skid Row back in the day. But they really are quite great. Catchy riffs and a great lead singer. You at first think to yourself yeah I liked a couple of Skid Row Songs. But then you listen to their library and you begin to say oh yeah they played that one too, oh and that one, and that one, and that one as well…………Before you know it you have a decent collection of truly good tunes by them. I think it would be a mistake to lump them into one of those bad 80’s hair metal bands. They had real musicianship and a crazy talented voice.
Shoulda watched the video...always watch the videos for bands from 80's
Slave To the Grind [this album] and Subhuman Race [its follow-up] are the pinnacle of what this band ever did.
-pre: commercial Metallica; post melodic metal and rock (but NOT throwing those influences out the window, entirely!).
If the "commercial rise of all underground styles" (circa: 1989-1991) hadn't happened, these guys would have been "kings of the mountain" (and, maybe, they, very briefly, even were 🤷🤷) ...maybe....
Listen to the song: "The Threat" 🔥🔥 🤘🤘
Dazed and Confused MSG ‘73
Question I heard you make a comment on this video about song starting out too heavy for you is that why y’all don’t play nothing heavy like from Metallica or any of these Heavier thrash bands other bands, which is not a problem y’all keep it real and give some good music. But know I why. 🤘🏼
It was to hard for me too until 3:26 but I'm an old guy. 😎
✔️OUT @THEWARNING BAND➡️ SONG➡️ AUTOMATIC SUN AT TECATE PA'L NORTE FESTIVAL ⚡3THREE SISTER'S OUT OF MONTERREY MEXICO 🇲🇽🎸🎤🥁 WHO KNOW HOW TO ROCK NOW A DAYS 🤘😝 IMAGINE 3THREE SISTERS BORN IN MEXICO🇲🇽 WHO ROCK IN ENGLISH 🤔 JUST 3THEE PIECE ROCK BAND 👍
Bash them over the head, with Skid Rows hardest song, per usual. My Gosh, anything from the first album, is a better intro. Like a Doctor prescribing, Chemo, for hair loss.
Where’s this shade that you got it made ……
That big lol. I don't think you fellows could handle Metal.
No hair metal here , just a damn great Rock Band. Wasted Time or Quicksand Jesus-next.
A's
In NO WAY am I saying that this is "a BAD record"/"bad song," HOWEVER:
in comparison with "The Threat" (from this same album)
...it ain't shiiii.....
"Mudkicker" is another snot-stomper, from this album.
(The title track "Slave To The Grind" is, also, pretty "balls out"....).
This album WAS huge...but in the face of:
Pearl Jam's: Ten; Red Hot Chili Peppers' Mother's Milk; Jane's Addiction's: Ritual de lo Habitual; Nine Inch Nails' Pretty Hate Machine; N.W.A.'s Straight Outta Compton;
even Smashing Pumpkins': Gish
...and, of course: Nirvana's Never Mind was ABOUT to hit. 💥💥
...this couldn't stand up against that (neither could anything else).
Van Halen and Aerosmith vibes? Really? neither group could ever approach the heaviness level of anything on Skid Row or Slave to the Grind. Not even in the same ballpark. Not even the same sport.
80s rock. Not my bag. Decade of copycats after the Zeppelin went down.
Just my opinion
Watch the SNL performance, banger.
Meh. Could do without.
BOSTON. COOL THE ENGINES
