HOLY SHIT
I was not expecting that voice to come out of him.
Honestly the out-of-tuneness of the guitar bring more feeling to the song, and his voice is absolutely great no matter how old they get, once a great singer always a great singer :) and this song is
halley martin just so u know it is not a out of tune guitar it is tuned to what is called downtune or known as drop tune
Andy Williamson pretty sure its out of tune. I play I know an out of tune guitar when I hear it lol its not bad it was just something i noticed. I like how it makes this sound.
Talent does not age.
This is not an out of tune guitar,,,it is a style of playing and the discordant tune of the song....IT is a Delta Blues style . Terry , older, but Still great !
More Chicago or Detroit maybe .. all great tho. A Leg-End!
this is my favorite song of all time
Loved this song in devils rejects . Made me cry. Now I love this song and downloaded to my phone 2yrs ago :-)
me 2 :)
+Latoya Richardson im glad I wasnt the only one who cried.
So true, i still shed a tear when watching that film and listening to Terry's songs. He never got the praise that he deserves.
This song almost makes me cry EVERY time I hear it. So heartfelt.
Watch this old man by himself playing an out of tune guitar play with more passion than a lot of people do today.
You're so right! There are artist out there, but the mainstream isn't allowing it to be heard which is unfortunate for our children!
That's why I love the internet! You can find anything if you're willing to dig for it!
Nate Beakley And you are right!!
it's not out of tune.. it's in drop d
+anmlize lassiter theres drop d then theres out of tune drop d...which this is. it isnt an insult because he flat out, pun not intended, kills it.
Wow WHAT A SONG MAN. HE ACTUALLY SOUNDS BETTER NOW. WHAT A VOICE MAN.. PRICELESS.. I DONT THINK THIS SONG COULD EVER GET OLD ... GENIUS..
WOW! What a performance! I saw him live back in 1970 at The Kinetic Playground in Chicago and was so impressed by him that I bought his LP that has Superlung, July etc. on it. I didn't realize he was so outstanding. But he certainly is!
Jealous!!!
😂😂😂😂
I fall asleep to this video every night
How many people could even sing this song at all? Terry's natural syncopation is just out of this world! Try counting 1, 2, 3, 4 to this all the way through the song. Then add the passion he puts into the song. He even hits his notes. Is there ANY singer today who is comparable to Terry Reid? If there is I haven't heard of such a singer.
I drove over 250 miles to one of his gigs to listen to this song only and it was worth every single penny
One day people will realize what this man is, thank you Terry Reid your a fucking dude.
+Martin Concannon a MAN... this song hits so hard to me..
This guy turned down a chance to sing with both Led zeppelin and Deep Purple!
Lad S. AND the Beatles!!!
Lad S. because he is Original.. respect
Imagine stairway to heaven with his voice. I’m dead lol
He didnt need em he made it on his own.. maybe not as well known but hands down made better music.
@@gronolachunks Finally someone that gets it...
Last month I had the pleasure of meeting Terry Reid at Johnny Depp's home in LA. He sang a few of his hits for us. His voice is not as velvety as once it was, but he can still turn any song inside out!!!
You know Johnny Depp?
Sounds like a true pleasure I live in New England (mass originally but now VT ) I'd live to meet Terry and also I had a pipe dream to ask him to play at a small concert for my sweetheart and I. 😅 💙 I can dream
such a bad ass song performed by an influential and genius songwriter not to mention an absolutely amazing musician
I’ve loved terry since the 60’s. Seen him twice. And this song is an absolute belter. No one plays guitar like terry Reid
People seem to be justifying why they are complementing this "old man" LOL... Maybe just unaware he is a highly accomplished musician who was Jimmy Pages FIRST CHOICE FOR Vocals for the New Yard Birds which later became Led Zeppelin. He was under contract and couldnt join but recommended Robert Plant. The rest is history! Oh, he also had to turn down Deep Purple for vocals. So yeah, it's a bit amusing to see comments of those surprised on how good this "old man" is!!!
amen the man is a legend
We are blessed with the sound of Terry Reid.. imagine if he had taken those other gigs.. I can't
love it when they get old and still relevant.
Good musicians never grow irrelevant as we already know...Namaste
2024, and still coming back 🔥🔥
This guy got music right down to his core. His music will never get old for me. Thanks Terry!
Brave dreams that are kindled from ashes
Rise out over all the battle below
Spread wings over all that he passes
So his life can stay immortal to his country
All the shades of green that fall beneath this tree
So let the winds of change that rearrange the country
Let it also sow a seed of memory
Marlena in the cool satin sashes
Spread dreams over the battle below
Bring love with a song as she passes
So his life can stay immortal to the country
And let every man aware of being free
Mmm, when she talks of times when wine is handed to me
From a face that walked out of a memory
And now that the battle is done
And you wake up in the morning
With the sun up in the sky
Summer never gives you no warning then
Flowers are getting thrown up to cover the mud up on the line
Valleys getting greener and there's
Nothing but love on your mind
Brave dreams that are kindled from ashes
Rise out over the battle below
Spread wings over all that he passes
So his life can stay immortal to the country
Other shades of the green that brought for me a victory
But the winds of change, have rearranged this country
Let in also sow the seed of memory, yeah
Let it always sow the seed of memory, yeah
Let it always sow the seed of memory, yeah

A once in life legend may God be with an blessed him
Thank you Terry for so many great years of music without ever compromising your fine songs & sowing so many Seeds of Memory.
Goes to show that age has little to do with passion.Truly gifted singer who still delivers.
Amazing!!! I don't know why this is song is never on any of the "Greatest 100 songs of all-time" list because it totally is!! This song is the reason you have great musicians like Chris Cornell and many others around today! Simply amazing!!
Chris admired Terry which is why he sang one of Terry's covers on his last album...
Wow1 WHAT A GREAT VOICE, this sounds great and very moving.
Had the Terry Reid album in the 70s that this song was originally on. What an awesome song. Hadn't heard it in 30 years until today. Just happened on this site by accident. What a voice this guy had. It sounds pretty good here too.
Such an amazing voice!, Terry is one of my all time favorite classic rock artists.
This is what music is all about. Fucking period.
I cant quit listening to this song, what a voice.
Im astounded. after all these many years ,still sounds as tough as nails. sail on son
The way he performs it, now as an old man, makes the song even better!!!
Wow....just wow...he STILL has that beautiful voice
I bought Seed of Memory in the 70s...loved it but as on vinyl I forgot about it for last 30 years... was looking for something new to play on guitar tonight and remembered Terry doing this one . Had a fun 3 hrs learning this and drove my wife crazy.
Seeing this raw version is great although I stuck with the album version.
major talented guy and had chances with various top 70s bands which he passed on. Thanks for the music man.
I see what addiction did to a beautiful boy I loved from 1969 but I have seen he has cleaned up in the past few years and touring-makes my heart rejoice-he is the best of the best of artists, songwriters, guitarists, and singers who never sold out! He sang and played from a deeper place than most.
Martie Cabral what was he addicted to im curious. i love his stuff and he was very beautiful when he was young.
Susie Moonwalker he don't know, he's assuming cuz he looks old it's because of drugs rather than Umm...... JUST GETTING OLD SMH
Besides the sensational Alex Harvey
Addiction adds color and shade to a story and a voice and music. It's made this stunningly beautiful. Everything happens for a reason.
David Shiffer nah addiction just fucks ur life up
Love hearing him play the guitar. His performance gives me chills. Love it
To be remembered through TIME and a voice that aged like fine wine.
Terry Reid Is Without a doubt,One of the most talented musicians of all time in my opinion. My Father took me to see him perform while we were in Texas a few years ago. I Have to say that Seed Of Memory is my favorite song he ever wrote.that and Brave Awakening and To Be Treated Rite. Also Cause All Three songs were in the devil's rejects, one of my favorite movies. Just the passion he has for music is unbelievable.Bless you Mr.Reid
Loved sitting at the same table with Terry outside the 3 Horse Shoes in Houghton on a summer night.
Love this track... Fortunately I was able to see Terry do a live gig close to where I live, but would travel the world for this tune live. Love your memories. Don't deny them. :)
Funny how some people can listen to music and never "hear" it. So much history in this video. Thank you, Terry.
took mypartner on our first date here. literally behind the filmer . thanks filmer . were still together
That's good to know. Hoe I didn't get in your way.
@@GoodGigsVids no you did a good thing for all of us !
Come back to America one more time Terry PLEASE!!!! As much as I would LOVE to see you in a small pub in Britain I really can't afford it. Tell you what...if you come out you can stay with my wife and I and have some home cookin, and you will be "treated right" I missed you when you played Santa Monica and have been kicking myself ever since. Thanks for all the wonderful music.
This is what music is all about
Goosebumps..
ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS OF ALL TIME!!!
GREAT POETRY AND GREAT MUSIC!
Terry Reid is a genius!
Greetings from Germany
Michael Hontheim
I agree 100%
@1180jrock... i was there, flew alone from canada just for that performance. a lucky 29 yr old who stumbled across terrys music decades ago and finally came across it years ago and since has changed my life. Sat with a stranger and mused as we took it all in . Took a cab back to my hotel in New York and realized how little of the truly beautiful world I have seen and it filled me with hope.
Terry Reid got me through many dark nights, including tonight...thank you sir.
Your welcome.
best version i have ever heard and that anyone would ever hear
just givin it like it should
If your heart cant feel that man giving everything he has to that song your already dead
A fucken incredible performence. The vocals are sublime and the discordant guitar a rock symphony to back them up. Ten out of ten!
One of my favourite videos on youtube, I can't even begin to guess how many times I've watched. Thanks a million for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
thats where i 1st herd it aswell, and ever since i have just been such a die hard fan for him! its amazing!
Makes me so calm and happy when ever i hear this song.
Htf did I miss this cat?
The good news is I get to see, watch and listen to his WHOLE career (to date) and catalogue of songs/music!
You're not alone. Right when ya think it's all old news - BAM! Here's this jewel.
I cant get enough of this song!! I like this live version the best. I have to watch this video at least once a day.
I simply love this song!
I heard he got over the "comedian" type of costume and presentation on the last tour... was absolutely serious and just stunning in all his glory. Good thing, too. These songs are so powerful they should be treated with respect bordering on awe.
I love this song such passion and strength in it
I never get tired of listening to Terry... awesome!! So much soul to his voice... yeah, he the man!
There's a lion locked in the heart of the great Terry Reid clawing his way out with every word and strum. If the road to heaven and hell had a soundtrack I'd wish I could listen to this on the way.
Straight up, same place I heard it myself. Had it not been for that great movie and it's awesome soundtrack I might've never had the chance to hear Terry Reid, who is an amazing singer and writer
It's not about what you play.. It's about how you feel about what you play
I hope every American hear this
I could listen to this song over and over. Great song!!!
one of the best songs i have ever heard in my entire life and will probably remain one of the best if not thee best.
I knew Terry briefly back in the late 80's and he was a really nice, and very talented guy. Nice seeing vid's of him.
i just discovered his music this month.
his life has such a story to it it , it almost makes sense he never made it to mass consumption. i dont know about all of you but i smile knowing i stumbled across one of the most beautiful secrets ever.
Legend
@Wack0o0 everyone has to age and he's alive thats the main thing and still making great music thats what counts
Terry still has some pipes!
god i think i' ve seen this video... i don't know how many times, but it stills giving me that impression for the first time... its a track playing by the heart, no doubts about it!!
almost a whole life lived without the recognition that he deserves, yet he isn't bitter, he just keeps on playing, and that makes him truly an artist
I was unaware of this man until Rob Zombie's movie. I consider myself fortunate to have been introduced to such heartfelt artistry. I was watching The Devil's Rejects and sort of nodding off until this marvelous, soul searing music came forth. Thank you Terry. We are shown our own humanity through your music. Thank you Rob Zombie for placing Terry's music where I would find it.
Every once in a while there's a song that takes one to a very special place. This is one of those songs. I also discovered this from the Rob Zombie movie. Thanks Rob for including it in the movie, and thanks Terry for writing such a beautiful piece. A great song stands the test of time, and I heard this for the first time this week, 41 years after it was written, and thought it was an amazing song written for the film. That says it all.
He never ceases to amaze me
This song will never get old. I love it!
God I'm glad I have found such a beautiful song by an amazing artist.
Yes I love this!!!!!!!! I love the song but to watch him perform it😍😍😍😍😍
man what a voice
10/16/2022 and still jamming out this true classic masterpiece.
I watch this every day now...
wow he is singing this song 30 years after it was first released and it sounds just as good as the original. Just amazing.
My man's still killing it on this vid!!
Unappreciated in the 70s, yet just awesome. Music you can feel in your heart.
So gifted with heart & soul~ he looks great & sounds beautiful!
Hope we never lose this video.
WHY IS THIS MAN NOT A SUPERSTAR?
He is …
what if he 'd of joined page instead of plant , we would of had no stairway to heaven ,or jashmir , but we could of had something equal
Absolutely legendary. You can feel the passion.
Love this song! Was up late until the wee morning hours and happened upon the end of the movie Devil's Rejects. What a treat to hear this song at the rolling of the credits. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I think he sounds damn good and just wish I could see him here sometime across the pond in the northwest. Come to Portland Terry and rock on!
Man, I wish I was there. I love this song. I first heard this song on the “Devils Rejects” soundtrack which I highly recommend, anyway you know a song is touching when it makes you feel emotion for the fallen villains at the end credits. This is my first time hearing it live. Thank you for sharing.
I've owned the Groupies and Glastonbury vids for decades and have been waiting for this stuff. So glad to finally see him again!
That voice is ageless. His legacy will live long past all the young gang bangers and cheezers. His passion will inspire only the best to make some real music in the future, or so god [or whatever] help us all.
Terry Reid opened for Cream at The Baltimore Civic Center way the Hell back in the late 60's, and was mezmerizing. "Season of the Witch" was haunting. Just TR, an organist and a drummer. Forty years ago and I can remember that night.
So glad I lived through and experienced the music of the 60's and 70's. Nothing like it!
I RAISE MY GLASS TO THIS GENTLEMAN AND HONOR HIS MESSAGE IN HIS MUSIC
A+ material...this is a dying breed!....
I was not expecting THAT. Wow, incredible.
This has always been one of my favorite live versions of this song. Bar none
Wow. Thank you so much for posting this. Terry is the real deal. I have goosebumps.
You're welcome
Really, really awesome
hypnotic , very powerful..thanks.
