Not often when one gets the chance to ride along for an entire flight! This was great. My favorite moment was the clip of the Captain's wife filming the flyover of their home. To watch the contrail and simultaneously know exactly what was going on in the cockpit and who the pilots were was very nice! Well done.
@@henryponnefz1419 my name is John fasto lam a 14 year old boy from Kenya lhave been following the air clips l have learned more about air planes and my dream is to fly the Lufthansa a 380 or747 please when l finish my form 4 come and take me so that I train pilot thanks.
Axel, Günter and Simon made me look up Lufthansa I never knew this before but they are based out of Germany. Then it all made sense, of course German precision! That's how it's done right. It's been an honor to watch thank you. At first I thought these pilots we're wasting their talent with cargo. They're so great they should be flying people. But then it dawned on me these pilots have the world by the tail. Only piloting!
End of 2021, close to post-pandemic: It is SO nice to have full proof that our Cockpit Aviation Teams are just as Professional, dedicated and NORMAL now, after such a world experience as the 2020-2021 Pandemic; just as they were in what we considered as the normal pre-Pandemic period. It is nice to feel the world can still come back and get on with life as before... even in some of the most precise types of working environments as Airline Piloting. Thank you for such an experience, it felt just as if we were invited into the cockpit for a transatlantic crossing. What a privilege... even if it is only into our head!
My dad retired from the DC-10-30 CF. I worked for same airline in maintenance, and spent many hours sitting behind the Capt. seat enjoy the picture window view of the world. What he describes about that window is true - spectacular. I left Commercial aviation in 1982, and missed a hard life of multiple layoffs & furloughs and having to start at the bottom of another seniority list. But my dad had a wonderful career, literally just 20 hrs as an F/O on a DC-8 before transitioning to Capt. I probably would have had to wait 20 years to transition to the left seat. But if you love to fly NOW is probably one of the best times in my lifetime to move into airline flying. American is going to hire 2000 pilots next year - my generation is aging out.
Three of the nicest men in aviation, what a pleasure watching this video without a pause. Happy retirement Captain. I see these younger men also making Lufthansa proud.
I really enjoyed that. Loved how they overflew the Captains house. Really nice of the crew to provide commentary not in their native language too! Beautiful aircraft.
I am so happy that this video showed up in my UA-cam suggestions. As the wife of a retired Flight Test Engineer (the ground type) I am very interested in aviation. The enthusiasm of the flight crew and spectacular videography (photography has been my passion for at least 60 years) made this video one of the best I've ever seen. Thank you all for your wonderful work!
This is my first Air-Clips video view and I am already hooked big time. What a fantastic production and a "public service". I was searching about the last Cargo flight of MD-11 when I came across the channel and will be forever thankful for this content.
Thank you so much for letting us fly with you Axel, Günter and Simon on this last ever rotation of Lufthansa's MD-11Fs!! Your stories were wonderful to listen to. And thank you for this marvellous production Patrick!
Glad you enjoyed it, it was a lot of work but I am really happy with the result. This is just a classic videos with a lot of passion :) Greetings from Patrick
I GOT HOOKED ON THIS CHANNEL AND THE RIDE ALONGS....BUT THIS CREW WAS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE OF ALL TIME. JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THE GENTLEMEN, THEIR OUTGOING POLITENESS AND PROFESSIONAL PERSONALITIES. MY TYPE OF CREW. JOB WELL DONE AND I HOPE I GET TO SEE 1 OF THEM FLYING AGAIN SOON.
Just superb! What I found to be very unique is the pilot's wife's video footage of the aircraft and the contrails. This has to be the magic moment. I mean, what are the odds that you are piloting a commercial plane and you happen to be flying over your own house!
I’ve watched this about 4 times and it always gets better. You are all fantastic human beings. I will be supporting you guys and the great causes you represent. Peace ✌️
Very professional crew...always wanted to know what goes on in the cockpit ...nd they flew to my hometown New York !...Hope they enjoyed there time there..nd had a safe flight back. Thnx for film nd will be watching again...thnx
Thanks for the wonderful video. MD11 Cockpit is great with the spacious Windows! I have good memories of a Swissair MD11 Jumpseat Rotation in 1997 to KIX and back to ZRH (with a good friend) And a lot of memories of my father in the 1980‘s when I could visit him in the DC10 Cockpit:-)
Lufthansa cargo I have new respect for your organization, hearing of your charity work for the underprivileged children of Nairobi. We are only as good as our team & the Captain requesting 100% teamwork so that no one did anything without discussing with everyone. Cargo shipping is an amazing industry in itself & I hope other airlines are training pilots as genuine as these guys are. Thank you for your service to your country & the cargo industry.
I enjoyed every bit of the flight , very informative with a great crew like you were right there in the cockpit. The camera views were really special especially the 360 was something else. Thanks again for letting me join you on this flight.
I thought I would never watch the entire show but once I started I was hooked all the way through. Excellent show it was well worth watching. Sincerely John
It felt nice watching you guys and more so thanks for a free ride.I live in Nairobi at a village called Ndenderu and well familiar with the childrens home SIMON mentioned ;MOTHERS MERCY HOME.Great job guys THUMBS UP
What an absolutely fantastic video. I will miss seeing the Lufthansa MD-11. I really loved listening to all the stories of their burgeoning careers, and their love of the aircraft. Thank you very much! 👏👏👏👏
Thanks to Lufthansa Cargo, the flight crew and Air-Clips for letting us fly along!! Really enjoyed the background history's of the crew, their passion for flying could not be denied!! Please keep the videos coming!!
What a brilliant aircraft, and demo of the flaps slats was icing on the cake. What a magnificent beast this was during her times and still is. We had an MD10 flying under FedEx and sadly it was retired and replaced with a 767 (still a beautiful bird).
What a great crew...professional, pleasant, and welcoming the whole way. Id love to think any crew who's plane I fly on is half has terrific as this trio was. Good luck in your retirement captain. Thanks for allowing us to fly along.
Fantastic! Enjoyed the personal stories as well as the high production value-particularly capturing the crew audio separately from ATC with Lavalier mics. Ausgezeichnet! Danke!
I really loved seeing this! I was incredibly fortunate to fly on 3 of the last 10 or so MD-11s in the LH Cargo fleet in the summer of 2019. It was an amazing experience and this video brings back all the feelings on that trip. Thank you!
There's an attachment you develop when around a certain aircraft for a period of time. Especially for those that have the airplane bug. I will forever miss those planes i grew up with, and their sizes and sounds they made. The magic in the air will be gone forever now that they are gone. They were unique and nothing will be like them. Unless blended wind body jets come out, unique planes are gone.
It’s an excellent approach to the profession of airline pilot made by a friendly crew who don't take themselves too seriously. This job requires a good apprenticeship for a beginner pilot alongside a seasoned professional. Respecting the procedures which are strict in this closed world of aeronautics where errors can be very expensive, imposes a phraseology and automatisms to be acquired obligatorily which make the journeys take place in all serenity. It must be said that the electrical controls and the on-board avionics greatly help the pilots who, as we can see, can grant themselves time slots for rest and relaxation. We are a long way from the 1930s when the Atlantic crossings experienced by the Mermoz required iron health and a good dose of courage and initiative. Radiocommunication or GPS have made it possible that an aircraft rarely gets lost or finds itself isolated without any landmarks. The ease of travel is the result of effective upstream work and solid knowledge that makes everything seem simple. Unfortunately this is not always the case.
That's so much better than just a brief video of a takeoff or landing. Indeed feels a bit like I had been along for the ride. Thanks for putting this together! 😀
Great movie, wonderful to see three guys that love and enjoy their work so much. Thanks to the guys for a very entertaining two and a half hours, and to Patrick for his hard work in bringing it to us.
Amazing video. Amazing crew. I loved it. There's nothing like the MD-11 she is a beautiful bird. Sad that last bird was retired with Lufthansa Cargo she will definitely be missed. 😔✈💕
It's a DC-10. I'll forever call that plane a DC-10! You wonderful pilots can call that plane a MD-11. But I say DC-10 because I'm old!. Thankyou for posting this. It's a wonderful video to watch. Especially for us "aviation enthusiasts".
Love this crew! I love the 777 and have only been on a few MD 11! Thank you for the video camera folks, company, editors and this channel for bringing this video to UA-cam viewers like me! God bless your retirements!
Hi Alex Gunter and Simon - thanks for a great, informative flight. Your history of how you came to be airline/cargo pilots was interesting. Hope we see you all again on the B777 F or some other flight. Cheers
I love this beautiful video, brothers! My father was an engineer, who, while working at McDonnell-Douglas, worked much on the DC-10 and MD-11. Our ethnic heritage is all from Deutschland! Your English is perfect and artful. Thank you for this special video! Dankeschön! 💛🙏🏼
The best crew I've seen succesfully operating together with passion, authority, and simplicity!! 💯
Thanks for your compliment!
I loved how excited the FO was flying the MD11
Not often when one gets the chance to ride along for an entire flight! This was great. My favorite moment was the clip of the Captain's wife filming the flyover of their home. To watch the contrail and simultaneously know exactly what was going on in the cockpit and who the pilots were was very nice! Well done.
The MD-11 is one of, if not the most beautiful aircraft in my opinion. Great crew!
true

I also enjoyed how Captain Axel had his wife watch for his plane and record it flying over his house. I real nice touch of class.
Thanks a lot! We appreciate you enjoyed watching it. Greets, Axel
Was ein cooles Team, ich guck das ganze hier mittlerweile zum zweiten mal es ist einfach nice.
Ausgezeichnet.
Great dialogue! Learned much from individuals loving what they do. Rare!
After living in Germany for 4 years, I really enjoyed the German people. They are fun, friendly and polite. This crew is a fine example!
That FO has one of the best radio voices I’ve ever heard, haha.
That landing into the sunset was something else.... amazing aircraft and great crew. Hope to see the MD11 around for years to come.

3 perfect gentlemen, in my time it was the tristar, well done guys
Love the jump seat in the middle.

Incredible video. Many thanks to the flight crew for their enthusiasm in sharing with us the cockpit and their stories. Couldn't have been better.
Couldn't agree more! I always love to know more about the crew's path in live and how they really are :)

What is The MD 11 powerplant I mean engines ????
awesome! im working on building hours atm...should be flying commercially in 3 years
Three of the nicest men in aviation, what a pleasure watching this video without a pause. Happy retirement Captain. I see these younger men also making Lufthansa proud.
Doesn’t get better than this group of gentleman flyers.
I really enjoyed that. Loved how they overflew the Captains house. Really nice of the crew to provide commentary not in their native language too! Beautiful aircraft.
I am studying German but appreciate the pilots conducting the interview in English. Thank you all.
Can't wait for the MD-11 to come out from Rotatesim for X-Plane 11. It looks like the air and electrical systems are modeled very nicely.
Thanks a lot for showing us the flaps at 50 degrees ! This is simply incredible to see and we then can imagine the drag it may cause ! Thanks a lot
Axel and I graduated the same year. Totally different country but same none the less. Class of 98 was great. Congrats on the path you have taken.
Great to see a group of very experienced and professional people who still clearly love their work!
Please do more videos with this crew. They are awesome and would love to see more of these 3.
Thanks a lot! :-)

This is an excellent film, I love the banter with the crew. I also loved hearing their storys.
The most beautiful plane in the world.

It's good to see Foko again, for me this film was one of the most emotional aviation films I have ever seen. It is very sad to say goodbye to the MD11
We at AA used to completely overhaul those MD-11’s in 2 wks…kind of an amazing accomplishment I think
Just superb! What I found to be very unique is the pilot's wife's video footage of the aircraft and the contrails. This has to be the magic moment. I mean, what are the odds that you are piloting a commercial plane and you happen to be flying over your own house!

I see how calm and deliberate the pilot describes his passion for flight. Thank you for conveying the enthusiasm of all.

Amazing, thank you so much for making these! Will miss the Lufthansa MD-11s. Amazing crew, amazing airplane.
Fantastic crew, great CRM, wonderful professional atmosphere in the cockpit. Great video, makes me want to move back to fixed wing.

One of the first flights I remember as a child was on a Continental Airlines DC-10 back in the '70s. What a great aircraft!

I HAVE A NICE TIME TO SEE YOUR CLIP VIDEO FOR A FIRST TIME..GOOD TO KNOW FROM CA/USA
Amazing the longevity these planes have had. It really shows you how ahead of their time they were. Love seeing the Fed Ex ones land at KBOS.
They had to change the rules to make these planes irrelevant... ETOPS that is.
