Hi, brother! I'm fine by God's grace despite having many problems and sufferings. I unite my sufferings to the suffering of Jesus and offer them to God through Mary for the salvation of souls including my own soul and for the purification of my soul from sins etc. I feel my soul is getting more clean day by day. I have not committed any mortal sins including sexual sins for 7 straight months. I feel I'm almost totally purified (if not totally) from the deadly sin of lust because I have not fallen into lust even if I pray only 1 rosary once a week to ask God for the grace of not falling into lust yet many times in a day, the devil is filling my mind with many lustful thoughts. But I still have not succumbed to temptations of impure thoughts even though most of the time, I don't pray to overcome temptations. It is a sign that my soul is already greatly if not completely purified from the spirit of lust. I told you that if a person is already 100% purified from a certain sin or deadly sin, he cannot commit that sin anymore even if he does not pray anymore amid the strongest temptations. Praise be to God!
Also, the devil still keeps tempting me to hate the people who cursed me. I used to not overcome this temptation of anger. I would feel great hate toward people who cursed me. Presently, the devil is still tempting me to be angry at those people. But I don't feel hate or sinful anger anymore toward them. It means my soul is already greatly purified from the spirit of hate or sinful anger if not totally or 100% purified from sinful anger. What a change in me! Praise Jesus and Mary!
One time, my mind is filled with so much impure thought. After a while, those lustful thoughts disappeared suddenly. Then, I heard a voice in my mind telling me that I gave in to temptations. The voice told me, "You committed lustful thoughts because you indulged in them." Another voice told me, "No, you did not entertain those impure thoughts." These 2 voices kept lingering in my mind and I did not know which one is telling the truth. I lost my peace of mind. I did not know which is to believe in from those 2 voices. I turned to prayer. I told God, "Lord, reveal to me the truth. If I truly entertained impure thoughts, let me know and I will confess it to a priest. If not let me know too." Then, I prayed one Rosary to ask God to reveal to me the truth if I truly sinned on that matter or not. I also prayed to the Holy Spirit to reveal to me the truth. After praying, this time, I heard only one voice and that voice told me, "No. You did not entertain those lustful thoughts. You did not sin." And I felt strongly that I truly have not sinned." My peace of mind returned. I have not heard that voice again that accused me of indulging in lustful thoughts. That voice is the voice of the devil.
The good Lord revealed to me the ways on how to keep growing in holiness and wisdom and how to avoid relapsing and going backward spiritually. I only attend novus ordo Mass and I receive holy communion in the hand and standing. But God has delivered me from mortal sins esp lust. What does that mean? But many Latin Mass goers who receive the Eucharist on tongue while kneeling and who blaspheme the NO Mass, Second Vatican Council, V2 popes esp Pope Francis have not been able to get out of mortal sins esp lust. The problem with joining a church or any group, we think we have salvation because of the group. The group agrees on a certain vocabulary, and everyone goes with it. The church should be there to free you in Christ, most just make you feel you are condemned if you leave them.

Who told you that everything we know about the Christian faith is found in the Bible? We didn't have a closed canon of the Bible until the 300's, and the majority of the population was illiterate for many centuries after that. We are still far from 100% literacy. The faith was handed down mostly through oral tradition for many centuries, and this included the recitation of Scripture by learned leaders, but not everything was written down. If it had been "book only" from the beginning, Christianity would have died out a long time ago.
We don’t know if she died or not. Catholics are free to believe mother Mary died and was assumed to heaven or they can believe she was still alive and was assumed into heaven - it doesn’t affect faith and morals so the church has no stance on it
Hello, thank you so much for your response. Christendom prior to the reformation of the 16th century believed that Mary did indeed experience a dormition and was bodily assumed into heaven. One thing that must be said is that sacred scripture is not the only deposit of faith that we received, we also received sacred tradition, which was passed orally "by word of mouth". Sacred scripture in and of itself is not formally sufficient, in that not all doctrines are systematically discussed; the bible is not a textbook on systematic theology. Rather, scripture is materially sufficient, in that all the raw material for doctrine is there to be understood by us. For instance, nowhere in the bible does the word "trinity" appear, or "simple" referring to God. Hope this helps, God bless you!

Yes, confession is a powerful sacrament that Jesus gave us to forgive all of our sins, heal our relationship with him, and strengthen us. If you haven't gone in a long time, I would find a good priest, and tell him you want to make a general confession because you haven't been in a long time. Then write down as many sins as you can think of in your life and just confess them all and that God wash them away as if you had never done any of them. They are not-preconceived.They are without Apostolic authority-that is only apostles were used to express the will of God to the point in which the Apostles' messages are the God-breahed message. The practices which are false, that is you have no Apostolic authority to practice such things and believe such things are as follows: (1) Infant Baptism. Show me in the New Testament where the apostles practiced infant baptism and belived it is necessary to absolve a baby's adama sin-you can't because it isn't there. (2) The confessional where a believer is required to confess sins to a priest which will then prescribe works of pennance for the person to receive forgiveness or if deemed appropriate, absolve the confessors sins at the time of confessions IS NOWHERE FOUND IN THE WRITINGS OF THE APOSTLES. (3) furthermore, the only priesthood expressed in the New Testament is that of the believer priesthood where one goes directly to God in repentance and confession to receive forgiveness. (4) belief that Mary was sinless-though the word of god tells us that she "rejoiced in 'God my savior.'" Prayers to a powerless obedient "handmaiden of the Lord" is absurd. Mary is not the Queen of heaven (a nice Roman paganism idea, as Rome had many statues of gods), and She has no power to answer prayers. Jesus said that were to pray to the Father in His name and his name, alone(John 14:13-14). So show me where the Apostles ever prayed to Mary. (5) Pergatory: Nowhere do you see in the New Tesatament that the Apostles warned Christians that if they are "not righterous enough" when they die, they must spend time in pergatory to have their remaining sins cleansed before they can enter heaven? Show it to me from God's Word, not the Roman Catholic traditions. (6) Christian "sainthood" great Christians glorified by the Church right along with the statues to which people will bow and pray to them. Scream as much as you will that you do not worship idols, but you do. Your history proves it. (7) The purchases of indulgences to gain grace before God and get into heaven. Regarding apostolic authority, it certainly can be transferred, otherwise they never would have replaced Judas after his suicide in the potter's field: Acts 1:15-26 - the first thing Peter does after Jesus ascends into heaven is implement apostolic succession. Matthias is ordained with full apostolic authority. Only the Catholic Church can demonstrate an unbroken apostolic lineage to the apostles in union with Peter through the sacrament of ordination and thereby claim to teach with Christ’s own authority. Acts 1:20 - a successor of Judas is chosen. The authority of his office (his “bishopric”) is respected notwithstanding his egregious sin. The necessity to have apostolic succession in order for the Church to survive was understood by all. God never said, “I’ll give you leaders with authority for about 400 years, but after the Bible is compiled, you are all on your own.” (1) Infant baptism is not contradictory to scripture. Also, you are conflating intercessory prayer with thanksgiving, petitions, and adoration we give to the Triune God alone. When we ask the Saints and Theotokos to pray for us, it is no different than if I asked you to pray for me. There is no competition between my prayers directly to the Triune God, and the intercession that the saints bring for me. We are called to "pray without ceasing", and those who are physically dead are not suddenly wrenched from the mystical body of Christ, or His church. They are more alive than we are now, as God is the God of the dead, not the living. God shares in the Beatific Vision for us that they can watch us run our race as the "cloud of witnesses", and they pour our prayers out before God as shown in Revelation. (5) Purgatory, Like the Trinity and infant baptism, has evidence in scripture. We do not worship the saints, as intercessory prayer is not worship. Statues and Icons are not idols, they are merely depictions to aid us in our prayer. We don't worship anybody but the Triune God, out 2000 year history proves that above any false witness. (7) On this we agree, the purchase of indulgences was condemned in the Council of Trent. Sadly, it's often worse than just ignorance. My experience with debating anti-Catholics in online forums is that even when their misconceptions of Catholic teachings are pointed on to them, some ignore the correction and continue to believe and publish the same lies. Only the Holy Spirit can reach such people.

So, very said....Ehesians 2:8-10 tells you how to become a Christian, so why do you want to join a Church that has no power to save you? Put your trust and faith and Jesus Christ alone. Find a Bible believing and teaching church where you can give your confession of faith to a minister and then be baptized as a follower of Jesus Christ, putting your trust in Him and only Him for your salvation and ability to grow in your faith.
Those who practice the clear teaching of God's Word. The Word of God when intepreted in its whole helps to be its own interpreter of God's message. When people practice those acts which are not taught in God's Word, such as infant baptism, the confessional, works of pennance, the sell of indulgences, etc where there is no support from the teaching of the early Apostles who are the only verified officers of God's message, then you know the difference between Bible believing and man created doctrines. The Bible doesn't lie. There is a reasons the reformers rejected the dogma of the Roman Catholic Church and many were murdered for their stand upon the Word of God. No priest can forgive your sins, only Jesus is able to do that. There were no PRIESTS in the early church. Show them to me. The priesthood was established by the Roman Catholic Church to weld power over the people.

Oh, you do know that the Roman Catholic Church murdered Christians for doing the very thing Peter told them to do. The problem is, the catholic teachings are not true. God's Word is true and it is very clear as to how a person may have a right relationship with God and it is not through the religious rites of Roman Catholicism, rather it is by faith in Jesus Christ and He alone for one's salvation. I am a FORMER protestant (thanx be to God) and once I became Catholic, (thanx be to God) I started noticing how hostile protestants were to Catholics, and they used to intimidate me with their accusations, until one day, a light went off in my head and I realized that everything they were attacking was either IN THE BIBLE, or directly related to the bible. In other words everything they were attacking was soimething HOLY.... case in point: ....Mary, (and honouring her) saints (and their intercession) confession, good works, penance, the Eucharist, Prayers of the rosary, even Marian doctrines, and carved images that adorned the temple of the Lord are all.....(drun roll plz)....IN THE BIBLE. I resent being lied to by the protest faith, but that is why it exists, to slander the catholic church....that's all they do.

I was a Mormon for 34 years, and they say bad things about the Catholic Church. I began to be disenchanted with Mormonism and became Roman Catholic. Jesus was the main focus of my conversion. I always feel God's presence during mass.

Ah, I am an evangelical Christian. The Catholic Church is not apostolic because it practices and believes things that was nowhere taught in the New Testament of God's Word. You are a part of the kind of Church to which the Apostle Paul warned the early Christians to be aware of, the wolves in sheep's clothing. It is the Catholic Church that emphasizes empty rituals for correct Christian practices. It is the Bible the emphasizes the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ and He alone for one's salvation. Read your Bible and you will discover who is false and who is right.
The letter of Saint peter says baptism saves. In the Catholic Church, if someone from a protestant denomination wishes to become a Catholic and they have been baptized, and the baptism is considered the same as a Catholic baptism they do not have to be rebaptized to enter the Catholic Church. Meaning once baptized the correct way always baptized. Since baptism saves, and once we are saved, we are saved. We cannot lose that salvation. Otherwise you would have to get baptized again. Catholic church does not allow that. So basically in the Catholic Church once saved always saved. Next, just because you are saved does not guarantee that you can get into heaven. If you are baptized, you are saved, but if you commit a mortal sin, you have to go to confession. Confession, restores the sanctifying grace that you lost because of the mortal sin. You do not have to be re-baptized again. The sacrament of confession, wipes away the sin, that you committed, and you are now you have been restored to the sanctifying grace that you were in before you committed your mortal sin. That really means is that once saved always saved. Now, if you are saved, were baptized and without a mortal sin that still does not mean that you can get into heaven. Why is that? Because as a baptized Catholic you have to perform works of mercy. Jesus himself said when I was hungry he did not feed me when I was sick you did not visit me when I was in jail you did not come to visit me, when I was naked, you did not clothed me. Therefore, you are to be thrown into the fire. So, without the corporal works of mercy. You cannot get into heaven. Now, basically, that means you have to have the opportunity to perform. The corporal works of mercy. Still if you do not have those abilities prayer for those people in need will suffice. So, according to Catholic church teachings, once saved always saved. You cannot lose that salvation. But you can lose the grace that is necessary to get into heaven there is a distinction. Finally go to the catechism of the Catholic Church, and look up the word grace. Mortal sin, wipes, away all sanctifying grace. Confession, restores that sanctifying grace. Lastly, baptism, porch and indelible mark on your soul that cannot be removed. That is Catholic teaching. So whom ever is baptized as an indelible mark on there soul and never asked to be baptized again, and are saved forever. All sin committed after baptism can’t be a raced through confession. Knowledge of grace and the seven sacraments straighten things out a bit. Also, try doing research in the Baltimore catechism as well.

And when 1 Peter 3:20-21 talks about Baptism now saves you, Protestants will claim this has nothing to with it. It really feels like they are unknowingly declared Peter as a liar which it is sad.
No need to do confession to a man in a box. Just confess to jesus christ who is your lord and savior. No need to call them father. For there is one father which is in heaven. The Bible doesn't say just confess your sin straight to Jesus anywhere. But it does say that Jesus gave men comedy apostles the authority to forgive sins in his name. JN. 20:21-23. And for the record, we confess our sins to Jesus even in the confessional box. It's not to the priest, but to God.
Even Martin Luther who advocated "Private Interpretation" which the Bible warns against it said; "Be a Sinner and Sin Boldly, but believe and Rejoice in Christ even more Boldly" Jacksmack77 will never believe Jn.6:29-69 either eventhough Jesus said it in his own words.
I have found through talking to many protestants of different traditions that anti Catholic beliefs are baked into their theology. I can only guess it is because they want to be very clear who they protest. There are a wide variety of protestant teachings that don't agree, but since they also are anti Catholic so they only attack us.
This is why Eastern Christianity is largely ignored or swept under the rug, it is not necessarily out of malice that they malign the church, more often than not it is out of ignorance and mistruth perpetuated by their denomination. This kind of interaction is why I seek out channels like this. I was cornered - literally - by three Baptists at a birthday party for a child. I was not prepared and up until then had now idea just how unhinged these people can be. Their voices were raised and at first it was just one, but soon I had three in my face. I talked to my priest about it the following week and that was the start of my journey into apologetics. Regardless of all the technical reasons they were wrong about the bible, they just didn't act "Christ like" in the least - there was nothing in their presentation that drew me to their way of thinking. All they did was scream - "Mary was not a virgin" "How many animals were on the ark?" Honestly, it was demonic. I'm nearly 30 years into my conversion and each attack strengthens my faith like never before. Conclusion: In order to come over to their way of thinking I'd have to ignore many key parts of the bible they swear holds every answer. I just can't get there - and I'm no longer interested in these debates with them. I won't do it anymore. I'm not a licensed counselor - which is what most of them would benefit from. They're worthy of my prayers, but I'm getting too old to argue with unhinged people.

Why should Catholics really care what members of other churches are saying about us? Wouldn't it be more practical, if we just doubled down on living our faith? I read a comment of a grandma ,who used to attend Mass with his son and latters family every given Sunday.Now his son and his family have become Protestant. She is now so sad ,as she attends Mass alone. I also encountered a grandma ,whose son and family left the church to become Protestant . Praise God, you are closer to God. It is a journey. Some people think, once saved, always saved. BUT I believe a person can back slide or just wasn't ever the Christian they should have been. We are saved by the grace of God, but we are required to believe in Jesus that he is the savior that died for our sins, in that, when or if we sin, repent to God{ask God to forgive us in Jesus's name}, do God's will{ten commandments} // Pray & Read the Bible. All Christians don't worship the same, but if they are a Christian, they will have these 3 things in common, 1. Believe Jesus is the savior, 2. Repent of sins, 3. Do God's will.

Hi, brother! I'm fine by God's grace despite having many problems and sufferings. I unite my sufferings to the suffering of Jesus and offer them to God through Mary for the salvation of souls including my own soul and for the purification of my soul from sins etc. I feel my soul is getting more clean day by day. I have not committed any mortal sins including sexual sins for 7 straight months. I feel I'm almost totally purified (if not totally) from the deadly sin of lust because I have not fallen into lust even if I pray only 1 rosary once a week to ask God for the grace of not falling into lust yet many times in a day, the devil is filling my mind with many lustful thoughts. But I still have not succumbed to temptations of impure thoughts even though most of the time, I don't pray to overcome temptations. It is a sign that my soul is already greatly if not completely purified from the spirit of lust. I told you that if a person is already 100% purified from a certain sin or deadly sin, he cannot commit that sin anymore even if he does not pray anymore amid the strongest temptations. Praise be to God!
Also, the devil still keeps tempting me to hate the people who cursed me. I used to not overcome this temptation of anger. I would feel great hate toward people who cursed me. Presently, the devil is still tempting me to be angry at those people. But I don't feel hate or sinful anger anymore toward them. It means my soul is already greatly purified from the spirit of hate or sinful anger if not totally or 100% purified from sinful anger. What a change in me! Praise Jesus and Mary!

One time, my mind is filled with so much impure thought. After a while, those lustful thoughts disappeared suddenly. Then, I heard a voice in my mind telling me that I gave in to temptations. The voice told me, "You committed lustful thoughts because you indulged in them." Another voice told me, "No, you did not entertain those impure thoughts." These 2 voices kept lingering in my mind and I did not know which one is telling the truth. I lost my peace of mind. I did not know which is to believe in from those 2 voices. I turned to prayer. I told God, "Lord, reveal to me the truth. If I truly entertained impure thoughts, let me know and I will confess it to a priest. If not let me know too." Then, I prayed one Rosary to ask God to reveal to me the truth if I truly sinned on that matter or not. I also prayed to the Holy Spirit to reveal to me the truth. After praying, this time, I heard only one voice and that voice told me, "No. You did not entertain those lustful thoughts. You did not sin." And I felt strongly that I truly have not sinned." My peace of mind returned. I have not heard that voice again that accused me of indulging in lustful thoughts. That voice is the voice of the devil.
The good Lord revealed to me the ways on how to keep growing in holiness and wisdom and how to avoid relapsing and going backward spiritually.
I only attend novus ordo Mass and I receive holy communion in the hand and standing. But God has delivered me from mortal sins esp lust. What does that mean?

Christ crucified is the way. Paul said, " I have been crucified with Christ" that is the key to life. Death to our Adam nature, then alive in Christ. You have that, and you are saved.

The problem with joining a church or any group, we think we have salvation because of the group. The group agrees on a certain vocabulary, and everyone goes with it. The church should be there to free you in Christ, most just make you feel you are condemned if you leave them.

I've been Catholic for almost 20 years. I went from SDA to Baptist to the fullness of faith. This guy Jacksmack is strange. I heard all of these lies from other Protestants especially when "we crucify Jesus over and over again every Sunday." We remember what he did for us.

Who told you that everything we know about the Christian faith is found in the Bible? We didn't have a closed canon of the Bible until the 300's, and the majority of the population was illiterate for many centuries after that. We are still far from 100% literacy. The faith was handed down mostly through oral tradition for many centuries, and this included the recitation of Scripture by learned leaders, but not everything was written down. If it had been "book only" from the beginning, Christianity would have died out a long time ago.

Hello, thank you so much for your response. Christendom prior to the reformation of the 16th century believed that Mary did indeed experience a dormition and was bodily assumed into heaven. One thing that must be said is that sacred scripture is not the only deposit of faith that we received, we also received sacred tradition, which was passed orally "by word of mouth". Sacred scripture in and of itself is not formally sufficient, in that not all doctrines are systematically discussed; the bible is not a textbook on systematic theology. Rather, scripture is materially sufficient, in that all the raw material for doctrine is there to be understood by us. For instance, nowhere in the bible does the word "trinity" appear, or "simple" referring to God.

Yes, confession is a powerful sacrament that Jesus gave us to forgive all of our sins, heal our relationship with him, and strengthen us. If you haven't gone in a long time, I would find a good priest, and tell him you want to make a general confession because you haven't been in a long time. Then write down as many sins as you can think of in your life and just confess them all and that God wash them away as if you had never done any of them.

They are not-preconceived.They are without Apostolic authority-that is only apostles were used to express the will of God to the point in which the Apostles' messages are the God-breahed message. The practices which are false, that is you have no Apostolic authority to practice such things and believe such things are as follows: (1) Infant Baptism. Show me in the New Testament where the apostles practiced infant baptism and belived it is necessary to absolve a baby's adama sin-you can't because it isn't there. (2) The confessional where a believer is required to confess sins to a priest which will then prescribe works of pennance for the person to receive forgiveness or if deemed appropriate, absolve the confessors sins at the time of confessions IS NOWHERE FOUND IN THE WRITINGS OF THE APOSTLES. (3) furthermore, the only priesthood expressed in the New Testament is that of the believer priesthood where one goes directly to God in repentance and confession to receive forgiveness. (4) belief that Mary was sinless-though the word of god tells us that she "rejoiced in 'God my savior.'" Prayers to a powerless obedient "handmaiden of the Lord" is absurd. Mary is not the Queen of heaven (a nice Roman paganism idea, as Rome had many statues of gods), and She has no power to answer prayers. Jesus said that were to pray to the Father in His name and his name, alone(John 14:13-14). So show me where the Apostles ever prayed to Mary. (5) Pergatory: Nowhere do you see in the New Tesatament that the Apostles warned Christians that if they are "not righterous enough" when they die, they must spend time in pergatory to have their remaining sins cleansed before they can enter heaven? Show it to me from God's Word, not the Roman Catholic traditions. (6) Christian "sainthood" great Christians glorified by the Church right along with the statues to which people will bow and pray to them. Scream as much as you will that you do not worship idols, but you do. Your history proves it. (7) The purchases of indulgences to gain grace before God and get into heaven. Regarding apostolic authority, it certainly can be transferred, otherwise they never would have replaced Judas after his suicide in the potter's field:
Acts 1:15-26 - the first thing Peter does after Jesus ascends into heaven is implement apostolic succession. Matthias is ordained with full apostolic authority. Only the Catholic Church can demonstrate an unbroken apostolic lineage to the apostles in union with Peter through the sacrament of ordination and thereby claim to teach with Christ’s own authority.
Acts 1:20 - a successor of Judas is chosen. The authority of his office (his “bishopric”) is respected notwithstanding his egregious sin. The necessity to have apostolic succession in order for the Church to survive was understood by all. God never said, “I’ll give you leaders with authority for about 400 years, but after the Bible is compiled, you are all on your own.”
(1) Infant baptism is not contradictory to scripture. We are all called to be reborn in water and in spirit in order to inherit the kingdom of heaven as Christ himself says in John 3.
John 3:3-5
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a]”
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

In terms of references to entire households (which included children and slaves at that time)

Now, if you are looking for specifically "children under x age should be baptized" in scripture, that burden of proof is no different than me demanding you show me where the word "trinity" is in the bible. This is because scripture is materially sufficient, not formally sufficient.
(2) The priest was given the authority to hear our confessions as a witness, but it is ultimately Christ who forgives sins through the priest. The priest is acting in the person of Christ in that instance. The penance does not absolve us of sins, we are absolved before we receive the penance. The penance is to focus our habits and to help us to sin no more.
John 20:21-23
21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
Matthew 18:15-18
15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

We are called to confess our sins to one another, and in this case the Priest serves as the hearer of that confession as a brother.
James 5:16
16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
(3) We require priests because they participate in a true sacrifice. It is true, however, that we are all part of a sacred priesthood as Christians, with Christ as our High priest.
1 Peter 2:5, 9
“Like living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood. . . . But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people.”
In 1 Chronicles 24:5 we read, “David organized them according to the appointed duties in their service.” Then, in verse 8, we discover that he organized them by the casting of lots: “They organized them by lot, all alike, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both the sons of Elea’zar and the sons of Ith’amar.”
Another scriptural passage that witnesses to this priestly act is Luke 1:8-9, which records of Zechariah: “Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, according to the custom of the priesthood, it fell to him by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.” Notice the connection between the casting of lots and Zechariah’s priestly duties.
It is in light of this Old Testament tradition that the apostles cast lots to determine who would succeed Judas, indicating that the apostles saw their apostolic office as the new priesthood of the New Israel of God.
Another scriptural passage that demonstrates the apostles recognizing their priestly rank is Romans 15:15-16: “Because of the grace given me by God to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.”
(4) Mary was indeed sinless. One must be sinless in order to be considered "full of grace". She certainly did require a savior, however, she was merely preserved from sin to bear our Lord and Savior, as the Ark of the New Covenant she was a pure vessel for the Lord. The title "Queen of Heaven" is not a title pointing to any merit of Mary's, rather it is affirming the Kingship of Christ. David's mother was also a queen; when a woman bears a king, she becomes a Queen-Mother, hence why she is called the "Queen of Heaven", as she is the mother of God. Also, you are conflating intercessory prayer with thanksgiving, petitions, and adoration we give to the Triune God alone.
When we ask the Saints and Theotokos to pray for us, it is no different than if I asked you to pray for me. There is no competition between my prayers directly to the Triune God, and the intercession that the saints bring for me. We are called to "pray without ceasing", and those who are physically dead are not suddenly wrenched from the mystical body of Christ, or His church. They are more alive than we are now, as God is the God of the dead, not the living. God shares in the Beatific Vision for us that they can watch us run our race as the "cloud of witnesses", and they pour our prayers out before God as shown in Revelation.
(5) Purgatory, Like the Trinity and infant baptism, has evidence in scripture.
Matthew 12:32
And whoever says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come
Matthew 5:25-26
Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; truly I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny
1 Corinthians 3:11-15
For no other foundation can any one lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.
The word "Purgatory" does not appear, but it is clear what these scriptures imply.
(6) Sainthood began in the Old Testament. Read the entirety of Hebrews 11-12 and you will see exactly why we appeal to the saints, no different than the judges and prophets who exemplified the word and will of God, as examples for us. We do not worship the saints, as intercessory prayer is not worship. Statues and Icons are not idols, they are merely depictions to aid us in our prayer. We don't worship anybody but the Triune God, out 2000 year history proves that above any false witness.
(7) On this we agree, the purchase of indulgences was condemned in the Council of Trent. Not sure why you would bring this up, kind of a non-sequitur.

So, very said....Ehesians 2:8-10 tells you how to become a Christian, so why do you want to join a Church that has no power to save you? Put your trust and faith and Jesus Christ alone. The problem is, the catholic teachings are not true. God's Word is true and it is very clear as to how a person may have a right relationship with God and it is not through the religious rites of Roman Catholicism, rather it is by faith in Jesus Christ and He alone for one's salvation. "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:).

I am a FORMER protestant (thanx be to God) and once I became Catholic, (thanx be to God) I started noticing how hostile protestants were to Catholics, and they used to intimidate me with their accusations, until one day, a light went off in my head and I realized that everything they were attacking was either IN THE BIBLE, or directly related to the bible. In other words everything they were attacking was soimething HOLY....

I was a Mormon for 34 years, and they say bad things about the Catholic Church. I began to be disenchanted with Mormonism and became Roman Catholic. Jesus was the main focus of my conversion. I always feel God's presence during mass.

Ah, I am an evangelical Christian. The Catholic Church is not apostolic because it practices and believes things that was nowhere taught in the New Testament of God's Word. You are a part of the kind of Church to which the Apostle Paul warned the early Christians to be aware of, the wolves in sheep's clothing. It is the Catholic Church that emphasizes empty rituals for correct Christian practices. It is the Bible the emphasizes the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ and He alone for one's salvation. Read your Bible and you will discover who is false and who is right.
The letter of Saint peter says baptism saves. In the Catholic Church, if someone from a protestant denomination wishes to become a Catholic and they have been baptized, and the baptism is considered the same as a Catholic baptism they do not have to be rebaptized to enter the Catholic Church. Meaning once baptized the correct way always baptized. Since baptism saves, and once we are saved, we are saved. We cannot lose that salvation. Otherwise you would have to get baptized again. Catholic church does not allow that. So basically in the Catholic Church once saved always saved. Next, just because you are saved does not guarantee that you can get into heaven. If you are baptized, you are saved, but if you commit a mortal sin, you have to go to confession. Confession, restores the sanctifying grace that you lost because of the mortal sin. You do not have to be re-baptized again. The sacrament of confession, wipes away the sin, that you committed, and you are now you have been restored to the sanctifying grace that you were in before you committed your mortal sin. That really means is that once saved always saved. Now, if you are saved, were baptized and without a mortal sin that still does not mean that you can get into heaven. Why is that? Because as a baptized Catholic you have to perform works of mercy. Jesus himself said when I was hungry he did not feed me when I was sick you did not visit me when I was in jail you did not come to visit me, when I was naked, you did not clothed me. Therefore, you are to be thrown into the fire. So, without the corporal works of mercy. You cannot get into heaven. Now, basically, that means you have to have the opportunity to perform. The corporal works of mercy. Still if you do not have those abilities prayer for those people in need will suffice. So, according to Catholic church teachings, once saved always saved. You cannot lose that salvation. But you can lose the grace that is necessary to get into heaven there is a distinction. Finally go to the catechism of the Catholic Church, and look up the word grace. Mortal sin, wipes, away all sanctifying grace. Confession, restores that sanctifying grace. Lastly, baptism, porch and indelible mark on your soul that cannot be removed. That is Catholic teaching. So whom ever is baptized as an indelible mark on there soul and never asked to be baptized again, and are saved forever. All sin committed after baptism can’t be a raced through confession. Knowledge of grace and the seven sacraments straighten things out a bit. Also, try doing research in the Baltimore catechism as well.

When Jacksmack77 tries to qoute Acts 16:31 like what most Protestants do but they have not bother to go to Acts 16:33 where it says "At the same hour of the night he took them and washed their wounds; then he and his entire family were baptized without delay." And when 1 Peter 3:20-21 talks about Baptism now saves you, Protestants will claim this has nothing to with it. It really feels like they are unknowingly declared Peter as a liar which it is sad.

The Bible doesn't say just confess your sin straight to Jesus anywhere. But it does say that Jesus gave men comedy apostles the authority to forgive sins in his name. JN. 20:21-23. And for the record, we confess our sins to Jesus even in the confessional box. It's not to the priest, but to God.

I have found through talking to many protestants of different traditions that anti Catholic beliefs are baked into their theology. I can only guess it is because they want to be very clear who they protest. There are a wide variety of protestant teachings that don't agree, but since they also are anti Catholic so they only attack us.
This is why Eastern Christianity is largely ignored or swept under the rug, it is not necessarily out of malice that they malign the church, more often than not it is out of ignorance and mistruth perpetuated by their denomination. We should pray that the Holy Spirit softens their hearts and opens their minds to receive the full deposit of truth. Thank you for sharing, God bless you!

This kind of interaction is why I seek out channels like this. I was cornered - literally - by three Baptists at a birthday party for a child. I was not prepared and up until then had now idea just how unhinged these people can be. Their voices were raised and at first it was just one, but soon I had three in my face. I talked to my priest about it the following week and that was the start of my journey into apologetics. Regardless of all the technical reasons they were wrong about the bible, they just didn't act "Christ like" in the least - there was nothing in their presentation that drew me to their way of thinking. All they did was scream - "Mary was not a virgin" "How many animals were on the ark?" Honestly, it was demonic. I'm nearly 30 years into my conversion and each attack strengthens my faith like never before. Conclusion: In order to come over to their way of thinking I'd have to ignore many key parts of the bible they swear holds every answer. I just can't get there - and I'm no longer interested in these debates with them. I won't do it anymore. I'm not a licensed counselor - which is what most of them would benefit from. They're worthy of my prayers, but I'm getting too old to argue with unhinged people.

Why should Catholics really care what members of other churches are saying about us? Wouldn't it be more practical, if we just doubled down on living our faith? Regardless of what other people say about us. Also, I would hope that our vocal critics understand the repercussions of committing slander.

I read a comment of a grandma ,who used to attend Mass with his son and latters family every given Sunday.Now his son and his family have become Protestant. She is now so sad ,as she attends Mass alone. I also encountered a grandma ,whose son and family left the church to become Protestant . This is due to people like Jacksmack who are spreading LIES about Catholicism on SM.Sadly,many young Catholics just dropped off their grandparents for Mass en route for them worshipping in Protestant churches. I work with my clients at their respective homes.its often for me to see a divided faith household.Grandfolks ,who live withh their children still have Catholic images in their bedroom,but in other rooms theyre evident signs of Protestanism e.g pictures of children with their Pastors. Praise God, you are closer to God. It is a journey. Some people think, once saved, always saved. BUT I believe a person can back slide or just wasn't ever the Christian they should have been. We are saved by the grace of God, but we are required to believe in Jesus that he is the savior that died for our sins, in that, when or if we sin, repent to God{ask God to forgive us in Jesus's name}, do God's will{ten commandments} // Pray & Read the Bible. All Christians don't worship the same, but if they are a Christian, they will have these 3 things in common, 1. Believe Jesus is the savior, 2. Repent of sins, 3. Do God's will.
