Actually, it was used in the 1200s also by a Pope. He was using it to show that the Catholic Church had the full authority as opposed to the orthodox churches who were not in union with Peter or Rome. If you're not in unity with Peter, you're not part of the Catholic Church.

Do you have the exact Pope so I can look it up? I am sure that will come up eventually in some apologetic conversation I have. Usually I look up when someone mentions that a catholic has used it and it is either a catholic parish or diocese using it in modern times or a protestant translation or quote that inserts "roman" before it. As a former SDA I watched a lot of Walter Veith. Apparently his father-in-law was a High Priest in the Free Masons and when he died Walter was supposed to hand all the books etc back to them, but didn’t, which is how he knows what they teach including all the secrets of the society. When you start reading the early fathers, and Didache (early Christian document on proper practice of faith) you see Catholic theology. This video is so off the mark on “debunking” the various items that it claims to disprove that makes you wonder why this guy even tried, I am guessing it doesn’t bother him to embarrass himself - for instance: 1. Walter Veith (WV) does not say that because the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) teaches pilgrimages it is proof that it believes the same as Islam - it is just one correlation that RCC has in common. 2. It is precisely the author who offers “0” proofs that Khadija was not Catholic. This information, previously provided by WV, came indirectly from Jack Chick in his publication The Prophet, who received it from Dr. Alberto Rivera, a Jesuit who had taken the Blood Oath. The original information had been given to Rivera by Catholic Cardinal Bea. There are many sources for this information, some good, some not so good so the reader must use good judgement. The point is that WV’s claims is NOT without proof as the author of this video claims. 3. The publication The Prophet is NOT a comic book, this mention is clear proof the author is misleading or ignorant at best. It is only the presentation style, which is in the format of a comic book. 4. The Islamic half-moon symbol as used by the RCC is not the devil’s horns, this is a silly explanation, just like many other RCC double meaning symbols. One for the unsuspecting public (catechumens) and a different one for the initiated. The RCC is replete with these symbols to hide who they are really worshipping. 5. What if you were to reach out to walter veith and ask him to discuss these matters with you? You could invite him to a pudlic discussion, or even multiple. Ask him for his sources, ask all of the questions about adventism that could be considered gothca questions... Start a dialogue with the man... It could be valuable to all of the viewers from both faith persuasions! If He is wrong, then God can reveal that with Truth from His Word, History, and whatever sources he has... to help him see his folly, but if you are wrong and making statements against this man and also by association aligning yourself in battle array against God, wouldn't you want to humbly acknowledge that and repent? He has a lot of influence on Seventh-day Adventists. I’m a former Adventist now Catholic. I started my journey to the Catholic church when I noticed many SDAs are spreading his videos and many other conspiracy theories. As an elder of our local church, I felt it my responsibility to dispel fake news and conspiracy theories. That’s when I realized that much of what SDAs believe about the Catholic Church are conspiracy theories by conjectures. Long story short, I realized the SDA is false and Catholicism is true.

Not long thereafter, Sarai finally fell pregnant and gave birth to Isaac. In the sad style of human jealousy, Sarai and Hagar didn't get along, so Abram sent Hagar & Ishmael away with a blessing and some funds. Ishmael was said to be the founder of Islam (yes, I know Muhammed was born in the 700's or so). Isaac became the founder of the Hebrews/Israelites. God later changed Abram and Sarai's names to Abraham and Sarah. May The Good Lord help us all. We truly need it.

The schism. Also, the 39 books in the Protestant Bible are the exact same books that were in the Hebrew Bible. Some of the apocrypha contain false teachings, such as the teaching that almsgiving can save you from death and purge you of sin. Usually I look up when someone mentions that a catholic has used it and it is either a catholic parish or diocese using it in modern times or a protestant translation or quote that inserts "roman" before it. It is not up anymore but there used to be a site that took the Catechism and misquoted it again and again by calling it the "Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church"

That's why his knowledge of the masonic influence over world & events and social/political/cultural movements is so thorough. His error is that he thinks the Church has failed. This entails that the gates of hell have prevailed over the Church the Lord Jesus established. When you start reading the early fathers, and Didache (early Christian document on proper practice of faith) you see Catholic theology. At that point, if you are Christian, your faith will be in the men whom the Apostles trained up and ordained Bishop personally (like Ignatius, Polycarp, Clement). Because this is the succession and preservation of the true Apostolic teaching.

Love the video. Just one small correction: our Blessed Mother is actually standing on a moon. This comes from the Bible, from the book of Revelation, where Saint John the Beloved sees a vision of a woman, clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
This vision of St. John's calls the woman a “sign,” meaning she is symbolic. She is not an actual woman like the virgin Mary. Together, the sun, moon, and stars in Revelation 12 refer to the original family of Israel. The 12 sons became the 12 tribes of Israel, which produced the entire nation of Israel. Thus, the woman clothed in the sun, moon, and 12 stars in Revelation 12 is not a difficult symbol to understand in the context of the Old Testament

This video is so off the mark on “debunking” the various items that it claims to disprove that makes you wonder why this guy even tried, I am guessing it doesn’t bother him to embarrass himself - for instance:
1. Walter Veith (WV) does not say that because the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) teaches pilgrimages it is proof that it believes the same as Islam - it is just one correlation that RCC has in common.
2. It is precisely the author who offers “0” proofs that Khadija was not Catholic. This information, previously provided by WV, came indirectly from Jack Chick in his publication The Prophet, who received it from Dr. Alberto Rivera, a Jesuit who had taken the Blood Oath. The original information had been given to Rivera by Catholic Cardinal Bea. There are many sources for this information, some good, some not so good so the reader must use good judgement. The point is that WV’s claims is NOT without proof as the author of this video claims.
3. The publication The Prophet is NOT a comic book, this mention is clear proof the author is misleading or ignorant at best. It is only the presentation style, which is in the format of a comic book.
4. The Islamic half-moon symbol as used by the RCC is not the devil’s horns, this is a silly explanation, just like many other RCC double meaning symbols. One for the unsuspecting public (catechumens) and a different one for the initiated. The RCC is replete with these symbols to hide who they are really worshipping.
5. Mary as the “mediatrix” or “coredemptrix” was started by John Paul II - any Catholic that knows their own religion would know that. The author here claims that the RCC depiction of Mary receiving Jesus’ crown of thorns as he mediated for us by dying on the cross has “nothing” to do with the RCC teaching that Mary is a mediator between us and God, because the picture describes a different person. Seriously? The RCC misleading is so deep that the true and honest Catholics, of which there are many, just have no clue what is up or down.
6. The cave/rocks and gods comings from them are clear facts of the pagan religions’ history. The author is arguing against factual knowledge here as he claims that there are very few images with the virgin Mary coming from them. All one has to do is 2 minutes internet research to find them. The host reader should ask himself/herself, why depict Mary in this format at all? Even just once?
7. As far as pagan and Catholic symbols go, there are so many we don’t have to discuss the ones mentioned in the video by the author, there are entire books written about this with historical, archeological confirmations. One only has to study the pagan symbols and teachings of the Catholic Mass, including transubstantiation.
8. The Muslim women and Catholic nuns dress is identical - The author says all woman dressed like this in the past? The obvious ignorance is pathetic, all he has to do is view the carvings of women wearing miniskirts 1000s years BC.
9. I cant review the rest of the symbols, one at the time, they are not about conspiracy theories but simple historical facts that are available to any honest individual seeking truth.
I personally do not hate Catholics at all, I think there are millions of them who are truthfully seeking the truth but unfortunately are misled . I hope they can all come to believe the Bible only, instead of the RCC's tradition, who claim superiority over the Bible.

Ask him for his sources, ask all of the questions about adventism that could be considered gothca questions... Start a dialogue with the man... Walter Veith is a Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA). Sadly, being rabidly anti-Catholic is "almost" a pillar of their belief system. "Romish" and "Popish" are favorite adjectives. It is a common teaching that Abram & Sarai, back in Genesis were in angst re being childless, even tho God had promised them a son. Sarai got impatient, and thought to give God a helping hand, so she sent her maid Hagar to sleep with Abram and Ishmael was soon born. Not long thereafter, Sarai finally fell pregnant and gave birth to Isaac. In the sad style of human jealousy, Sarai and Hagar didn't get along, so Abram sent Hagar & Ishmael away with a blessing and some funds. Ishmael was said to be the founder of Islam (yes, I know Muhammed was born in the 700's or so). Isaac became the founder of the Hebrews/Israelites. God later changed Abram and Sarai's names to Abraham and Sarah.

Protestants did indeed violate Christ's command that the church be one, and fractured from the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church that He founded. The bible that you use (minus 7 books removed/labeled "apocryphal") was compiled thanks to several councils from the 4th century on. Why trust the canon of scripture (and then edit it, invoking the condemnation in Revelations 10) that Catholics compiled but shun the church on everything else? Also, what evidence do you have of the Catholic church practicing idolatry? What is idolatry to you?
If by this standard you say Protestants violate Christ's command, then by your own standards, then the entire Catholic church is in violation. How you may ask? Well how about what happened in 1054? The schism.
The issue is that Catholics often try to describe the "Catholic" and "catholic" as the same thing.
“Catholic” typically refers to the Roman Catholic Church.
“catholic” literally means whole, united, or universal.
Also, the 39 books in the Protestant Bible are the exact same books that were in the Hebrew Bible. Jesus quoted from or mentioned these books in the gospels, so these books are given authority based on that. Jesus did not quote or mention anything of the apocrypha books. Some of the apocrypha contain false teachings, such as the teaching that almsgiving can save you from death and purge you of sin.
Even in the KJV, the apocrypha that was in there was separated by the old and new testament, and the apocrypha was never canonized.
The Jews had settled the Old Testament canon before Jesus was born, and many of the books of the New Testament were considered scripture long before they were officially designated as such (see for example 2 Peter 3:16), on the basis of their having been written by an apostle or according to the testimony of one.
Also the Roman Catholic Church of today would be unrecognizable to the Christians of the 4th century who compiled a list of canonized books. The Roman-Catholic Church likes to play fast and loose with early church history.
(edit) Sorry I forgot, also in regards to Catholic Idolatry, our Catholic friends and family members have been indoctrinated to believe that the use of statues, relics, and other articles is acceptable and even necessary for worship. They have been taught by the Roman Catholic Church that the images and icons used in the church are not actually “worshiped” but are simply “visual aids” to worship.

The eastern and western churches continued to remain in contact with each other, unfortunately in violent ways such as the Massacre of the Latins and the 4th crusade, but the East truly cemented the schism in the 15th century after accepting the terms of the Council of Florence and immediately reneging when they returned to Constantinople. This was not caused by the Catholic Church.
Catholic and catholic are the same. The church is "catholicos", universal, and this can be seen from the 23 distinct rites that are encompassed by the church.
The deuterocanonical books were accepted as canon in the Council of Rome in 382, and affirmed in the Synod of Hippo in 393, and the Council of Carthage in 397. Pope Innocent listed the Catholic canon in a letter to Exsuperus in 405. Subsequently, this list was approved by Pope Damascus I and another Council of Carthage in 419. This canon was once more affirmed in the Second Council of Nicea in 787, and again at the Council of Florence in 1442. Christians accepted these books until Luther discarded them. The Council of Trent affirmed what has been known and accepted for well over 13 centuries.
Interestingly enough, the translation quoted in the New Testament was formulated by Jewish scholars at Alexandria c. 280 BC. This is known as the Alexandria (Greek) canon. It contains the same 46 Old Testament books found in the Catholic Bible. African Jews continue to use this canon even to this day. This is the canon that continues to be used by the Catholic Church. They were designated apocryphal by Luther in the 1500’s. Were you aware that the Jewish canon actually changed after the second temple fell?
Quite the opposite, the writings of the early church and the fathers shine light on the fact that the Catholic Church has indeed retained the deposit of faith. Also, regarding Relics, you should read the Martyrdom of Polycarp and the Treatise on Holy Images by Saint John Damascene to see what the true purpose of relics and images are, and it is not to be used for worship, but rather to help us to remember those great examples who came before us and gave their lives for Christ. We worship the Triune God alone.

Actually books exist that debunk his claims. Hence the video debunking all his claims. Anyone can find something to fit their preconceived narrative. But it doesn't mean it's true, doesn't mean it's in context, and doesn't mean it's not being misused. People operate in personal confirmation bias every day and find the resources to prove it, so-called.
Real history books don't verify his claims. Only shady and tilted mason books and things like that.
Thank you for this video. Watching Walter Veith's video "The Islamic Connection" was incredibly challenging due to how much of it was akin in quality and credibility to the Zeitgeist series. Jay Smith's recent videos completely demolish the 19th century hermetics vibe Walter Veith brings to a 21st century discussion.
