I know this is an old video but I just installed a QS on a 2019 R6 and had the same issues. After a ton of searching it turns out you have to pull up super hard on the shifter as you turn the key on. 10-15 seconds later you can drop the shift lever and boom, light goes on. Has something to do with the actuation spring inside. I actually set up up with my hand rather than using a foot. Great vid. Helped a ton with the install.
just installed my QS on my 2019 R6, thanks for the help on that, if anyone is having trouble just pull up hard af, takes more pressure than you’d expect
Agreed. I just installed one on a 18 CBR1000RR by myself and while I didn't have to route anything under the tank(thank goodness), accessing the plug was not easy even tho it's alot closer to the surface than this R6's plug was. Basically, it's surrounded by a rubber protection tube, and also shared space with another sensor wire. I'm sure it's alot easier to install on bikes being put together but really, they should make the plug for them much easier to access. I did it by myself and I could deifnitely have used another pair of hands, if for nothing else, to hold a flash light and move wires out of the way.
Watching you getting under the tank I realized that R6 might look new and flashy, but taking it apart hasn't changed AT ALL. Glad to see you got it installed man! When you wanna run the R6 against the Daytona?
I guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Morgan Bjorn i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I used to think that a quickshifter sounded like a cool idea, but would probably be a bit gimmicky. After having one on the R6 though, I can tell I was totally wrong. It makes a huge difference in acceleration. The engine doesn't lose its rotational momentum and the intake and exhaust flow isn't interrupted anywhere near as much. It just hits that next gear and pulls. Love it. The guy I'm lining up to tune my bike when I put the exhaust on and change the filter has recommended getting a up/down quickshifter when I do it. $800USD for that on top of the tune as well though! He raved about how good having a down+blip quickshifter is. If the upshift is anything to go by, he is very justified in what he is saying!
I just installed my quick shift kit on my 17 R6. What I did to get it to connect was hold up gear shifter, turn on key, wait 10 seconds then pull in clutch. Boom the QS lit up. Such a great addition to my bike. Feels smooth and fast!
Hi can you share the pictures of your user instructions that come along with the quickshifter becauae I ordered mine from ebay and the seller didn't send the instructions.
The quickshifter needs pressure to close the circuit, that electronically tells the bike to shift. This means when you are trying to get the QS to register for the first time, you need a lot of pressure on the shift lever. I was able to turn my QS on, then off, and finally back on. I did this by pulling up on the shift lever insanely hard for 10-15 seconds. Hopefully this is the answer and I didn't just get lucky.
Find myself searching for new videos re: R6, not much out there. Always end up re-watching Motonosity videos previously watched. Thanks for great content!
OK, after watching this video 20 times trying to figure out how the hell to get the QS light on....I have the procedure. After getting mine to work, I tested this on my brothers bike the next day and it worked first try. 1. Make sure your measurements are to spec per the instructions. 2. Kickstand down (I had my bike on a rear stand and didn't think to do this) 3. Ignition/kill switch set to on (don't turn on bike though, just set it to on) 4. Hold shifter up as much as it will go, keep holding 5. Key on, keep holding up for at least 10 seconds. 6. Undo upward pressure on shift, QS light will be on.
The way you got the QS to activate is to apply a lot of pressure shifting up so that you activate the switch and you see a little bit come out the bottom. It took me like 20 minutes to get mine installed.
KaiserFranzRudolf ll no... he should go with a Graves full Ti exhaust. It's the best bang for the buck for an R6. It's what I have on my 08. It's the cheapest full Ti exhaust that makes competitive HP gains with Akra and Leo. It drops 11 pounds over stock exhaust (on 08-16 model) and puts the bike at a peak 117 rwhp.
To activate and deactivate qs mode. Use clutch shift to 2nd gear. 1. Key to off 2. Clutch to 3rd gear and hold clutch and hold shift up 3. Turn key to on if it fails repeat but my 2018 shifts this way.
After installing my quick shifter had the same issue with it not being recognized these were my steps .....put the bike in A mode , traction control 1 , with the bike in the off position I pulled in the clutch and shifted up as much as I could when it wouldn't shift anymore I held the the shifter up turned on the bike and the "QS" light came on . Note the bike most likely has to be in between gears ... with two dashes displayed on the gear indicator . Hope this helps anyone
That's an awesome option for a bike. I'm slightly disappointed because this video is only 14:09 long and Chase on two wheels would make it at least three episodes out of it. Brent you have some learning to do when it comes to making your vids. I love the look of the new R6, sweet bike.
I'm going to a race at road atlanta saturday and there is supposed to be a yamaha test ride event. I fully intend on riding this thing. If i could just get rid of my suzuki I'd be sold. Prettiest bike on the road in my personal opinion.
Right on man! Funny I literally just put a bazaaz quick shifter on my 16 gsxr 750 today. It works perfectly and feels like butter, but for some reason whenever I ring it out and get really high in my rpms my FI light keeps turning on. I can ride all day and quick shift under 12.5k rpms but when I redline it trips my FI light.... anyway sweet new mod for the bike. I'll keep watching.
Siddharth Sharma ok I'm am going to see if I can pull a code today. All the connections that could be lose I checked. Initially I thought it would just be a loose sensor but it comes on exactly at like 13k rpms, no there rpm. I might need to tune and re map fueling. We ll see. Hopefully pulling a code can clarify some things
Always love learning new things in your videos! Never knew about quickshifting and only recently learned clutchless shifting was a thing. They aren't really options on my little Buell Blast haha
Kk guys, I found the solution to the entire problem. The problem with the shifter is the spring in it. It's a bit stiff. So, you have to press the shifter really hard as the instruction manual says. For me, it still didn't appear after that so I turned the key off and when I turned it on the QS appeared and it worked like a charm. Just press the shifter UP really hard. Mystery solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After you paint it, next upgrade or must would be? A Tank-Guard! Besides all the upgrades you mentioned in a previous video I would also add a better flowing air filter (DNA or K&N). Glad your R6 shifted, after all that work! Would have not been fun if it was stuck in gear.
Cool video man, my 2016 ZX10R came stock with a quick shifter but it's crap, it's killed the engine when I have it enabled and use the clutch so I never use it. That R6 looks real nice!
I'm glad I found this video. I'm disabled and looking at getting back into riding.. I used to have a Ridley automatic motorcycle years ago.. I can't do all the shifting.. hey man I just saw your video about a week ago and I have to admit you inspired me to get a quick shifter for my 2014 R6 and I have to admit it was the best decision ever. I LOVE IT!! What mods are you getting for your bike next?
Just a thought🤔 you wanted it to be gp shifting like the R1. Can you put the quickshifter upside down?? and have the best of both worlds. Pressure switch should still work right?? just opposite direction. Anyways its nice and you'll get use to it I'm guessing👍
There are two types of pressure switches for quickshifters: push and pull. Based on the where the linkage runs and the position of the lever, I'm assuming the new R6 uses a pull-type, which seems to be standard for OEM quickshifters. As you lift the shift lever up, it pulls on the shift rod and pressure sensor that is on the other side of the pivot point (bearing on the lever). The most obvious way to make the bike GP shift would be to flip the top piece of linkage on the spindle 180 degrees. But, flipping the linkage to the other side of the shift spindle would result in the linkage being pushed for upshifts, rather than pulled. Therefore, the OEM quickshifter would not work in this scenario. You would need a push-type sensor. However, if there were another hole drilled into the shift lever on the opposite side of its pivot point that you could thread the nut for the shift linkage into, upshifting would still pull on the linkage and sensor. So, it is possible if there is another hole on the shift lever itself on the correct side of the bearing for the linkage.
hiimchad there isn't another hole like the r1, and the shift lever isn't as wide. I'm debating whether or not to try and drill a hole and tap it. but, just seems so sketch since it doesn't seem as large as the R1.
I'm from the Philippines. I just bought the 2017 R6. Im not much of a mechanic and I do not know if I have a quickshifter or not, so I decided to buy one from ebay and had it shipped here. Question: on my bike's dashboard, there is the QS sign lit on. Does that mean I already have the quickshifter factory installed?
Two questions. 1. Is it a Up only or Up/Down quickshifter? 2. Will you be keeping it as it is in the video, going for a non quickshifter GP shift or try look into someway of making it GP with quickshifter if possible?
Do you have problems with the cold motorcycle to start it? And I wanted to ask you what you think about the ducati 959 panigale because I am between the r6 and this greetings

Ty this actually helped a lot
This is a really good call, I practically lifted the bike up off the ground but it did the trick lol
Is this the same process for the oem quickshifter for a 2016 r1? I just purchased one
Sorry, can't help you there. Not familiar with the 2016 model year platform
just installed my QS on my 2019 R6, thanks for the help on that, if anyone is having trouble just pull up hard af, takes more pressure than you’d expect
That blue is just sexy. Yamaha designs the best looking bikes hands down.. it's not even close
I agree, however needs a color change OR change the channel to Yummynosity LOL
Ducati is very good to
Gehdhdbhd Ydhdjdn yeah, i sorta like Kawi, but they all look like ninja 400s.
That’s only your opinion lol I hate Ducati’s but they’re the best looking imo
primo sparazza yeah. I do love the ZX-10r, Kawi is my favorite brand, I just don’t like how the newer bikes look. The ZX-6r is growing on me too.
You are so lucky to have Abbie.
Agreed. I just installed one on a 18 CBR1000RR by myself and while I didn't have to route anything under the tank(thank goodness), accessing the plug was not easy even tho it's alot closer to the surface than this R6's plug was. I did it by myself and I could deifnitely have used another pair of hands, if for nothing else, to hold a flash light and move wires out of the way.
If that cop decided to follow you would really get use of the QS
You and Abbie are life goals right there!
Watching you getting under the tank I realized that R6 might look new and flashy, but taking it apart hasn't changed AT ALL. Glad to see you got it installed man! When you wanna run the R6 against the Daytona?
chaseontwowheels that’s what I want. It’s possible for you guys to race these bikes now. I have my bets on the D675R

@@sheheryarshuaib1736 I sold my bike a while ago with all the paperwork. Look on Yamaha website or call them. They can help.
IT'S SO FLUFFY! I mean... fast. Yeah. Shift's so fast.
*goes to search for R6 quick shifter*
No one recognise you block. But I do

i dont have a R6 but i felt the happiness you felt when shifting and realising your new part works.
Find myself searching for new videos re: R6, not much out there. Always end up re-watching Motonosity videos previously watched. Thanks for great content!
theres something about watching your videos that calms me down and relaxes me and im not even a biker.

trav1sbickle is your ECU flashed by chance? My ECU is on the way back from Bauce and hoping the QS light will still activate
@@bI5NISMO nah my ECU has stock software. Bauce could probably tell you though. Most likely they have had that question before.
look at the speedometer in the thumbnail
+timberflies 😏
Motonosity do a full yoshi exhaust next
timberflies that's an awesome feature I just wrote a page and a half about this bike for school didn't see anything about this thank you
Your comment deserves 69 likes
I can't see it? What am i missing?
The way you got the QS to activate is to apply a lot of pressure shifting up so that you activate the switch and you see a little bit come out the bottom. It took me like 20 minutes to get mine installed.
7:21 = Story of my life
mood
That shift sounds so nice!! what an improvement. I honestly have not used mine on my r1
Dude, you are my best friend!!! Thank for all your R6 videos really helpful
The content in this video was awesome! I can definitely tell you love the R6. Pretty excited to see what's next.
I freaking love your video quality, the way you edit your GoPro footage. 👌
You should go for a SC Project CRT full exhaust system when they come out with one!
Austin Racing GP1

man u cant upload videos while I'm at work
Competition Werkes has already made a beautiful exhaust for the '17 R6, you should definitely check it out!
The shift rod on the engine can be turned to the opposite side for gp shifting like the r1. Dont know if you looked it up yet but goodluck

Yup "QS" light was never on. Now it is. Thanks @Motonosity.
you can use a qs on 1st to 2nd just fine.. higher rpms is always going to be smoother with a qs
Blue is absolutely beautiful
You can quick shift above 20kph or 13mph
Man torches tacos are great. Their queso is to die for 😩
I love your lets say new videos when you vlog on this kind of night mode :D
Abby helping you on your bike - serious marriage goals.

It's gonna sound so good with an exhaust and you shifting up!

I went ahead and put the EFM clutch on my bike, basically same concept except I never need to use the clutch, but I still have to do the shifting
can't wait for the build series or upgrade series :) :) :)
Very funny and cool video! Love the wife helping you!! 👍🏼✅
Damn that sounds so lovely and smooth bro i need me a quick shifter now. I got the stabilizer so this will prolly be next on my list lol
1,000th like! Good stuff Motonosity, that R6 is one tasty bike.
So my question is do the quick shift work on down shifting I plan on getting the 2019 r6 and wanted to install the quick shifter
I'm so envious of your r6 man I love it
Now I want Torchy's Tacos. Yum Jack of Spades. Glad they're in Colorado.
congrats for the QS and the upcoming baby :D cheers!
Looking so Smooth Holy crap😍
keep the blue on the r6 and put white wheels and it will look sick
I prefer this newer model of the r6
Those green headlights !!!
Nice! I still don't know enough about late model bikes to know why you can't have GP shifting & a quick shifter? I like your helper. ☮️
the way you express what you feel I also felt happiness....:)
Like how you edited out that wide ass right you took tryna look like you planned on slowing down and turning. 😂 😂
I shift clutchless anyways. Some people say its wrong and destroys the bike, I think that if you got the right timing you do it without any problems
Refreshing sub box squad!
My 2018 R6 has the quickshifter already installed when i bought it
Btw nice bike and mods
Ksix no way? It came like that stock?
I'm glad I found this video.
I'm disabled and looking at getting back into riding..
I used to have a Ridley automatic motorcycle years ago..
I can't do all the shifting..

Thanks for the review, I really appreciate finding it and getting educated on it..
Damnit. Now I need to buy one for mine. It looks way more convenient and easier on the bike + components
take an awesome video, epic shots about your new yamaha just like that, full stock!! like the official presentation please, cheers from Mexico!
“You were born to be a motorcycle mechanic” I told myself that until I realized a year later I couldn’t afford rent 😂
Abby is so smart, maybe she can be Frys replacement in the build series ;) jk Fry no one could replace you. Can't wait to see the LilNosity in the near future :)
Love your videos and absolutely love the color of that bike :)
change your exhaust to an sc project or austin racing exhaus or even better a full system akrapovic megaphone straight pipe
With a new mod, but important driving component like this...I would figure you would have worn protective gear with 100+ mph riding.
How’d it feel to whine 2 years ago and no one cared 😂😂
Hahaha didn't realise that there were so many of them asking the same thing. Nice install but good luck following the sequence to turn QS off lol
Good think you still had the stock exhaust for the cop.
God bless we have GYTR!!
Hay moto will you get a new custom fairing and headlights for the r6 to Match into the garage with the ruckus,r1,crf450r and the jeep
This version already exists. YZF R6 I've been following since the first clip.
It sounds soo good! 😃
What a beautiful bike!
hey man I just saw your video about a week ago and I have to admit you inspired me to get a quick shifter for my 2014 R6 and I have to admit it was the best decision ever. I LOVE IT!! What mods are you getting for your bike next?
Love the headlights 😍
Just needs a full graves exhaust with carbon can and ecu flash now maybe? 😅
Plz get a yoshimura exhaust system it looks and sounds beautifull
Can you create a video about Clutchless Shifting against Slipper Clutch?

Jase Ferry Maybe try to find an R1 shift lever on eBay?

Two questions.
1. Is it a Up only or Up/Down quickshifter?
2. Will you be keeping it as it is in the video, going for a non quickshifter GP shift or try look into someway of making it GP with quickshifter if possible?
Could you please do a video on how to add a usb charger on there but not connected to the battery where it would drain it. There’s no videos...
Any site recommendations for a quick shifter? I have a 2012 r6. The link in the description only provides quick shifters for 2017+ models
Seems to stay in the power range well seems great
Do you have problems with the cold motorcycle to start it? And I wanted to ask you what you think about the ducati 959 panigale because I am between the r6 and this greetings
Having no exhaust saved you with that cop 10:25
Do you not change the gearing from road to track? (Instead of pulling up to go up the gears, you stomp it down to go up).
Fix yo shift light! Unless you like it coming on at 10k in which case disregard lol. Good featz man
I'm still debating on if I should grab one so i can hit wheelies out of 1,2,3,4 , I can only gun my wheelies right now can't pop them
