Data East games of this era did love putting in one extremely overpowered but extremely hard-to-find and limited-use weapon. (Cobra Gun in Robocop, Golden Gun in Sly Spy, the titular Heavy Barrel, etc)
When I play that RoboCop arcade game back in 1987 I didn't get very far I did better than Superman arcade game cuz he had a power and a mop the floor everybody and you try to beat Superman in a test of strength you'll lose every time the Superman can out muscle anyone any day of the week
