  • Roger has a chat with entrepreneur Ty Harnett about Alfie, his new invention which he hopes will change the plumbing landscape.
    www.coolag.co.uk
    INFO FROM COOLAG IN THEIR OWN WORDS
    A faster, more robust and watertight connection for securing fixed showerheads, shower hose wall fittings, wall mounted taps and bar shower valves, wc’s and hand basins.
    Eliminate leaks within walls and floors
    Prevent pipes from being knocked or drilled
    Guarantees perfectly upright shower fittings
    DZR brass for exceptional corrosion resistance
    Reversible manifold for hollow and solid walls
    Dual seal within the wall structure
    Interlocking base plate for various applications
    Prevents depth planning of fittings or using offset adapters
    Alfie has been approved by WRAS (water regulations advisory scheme).
    Please refer to The water supply (water fittings) regulations 1999 (England & Wales), The water supply (water fittings) regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009, The water supply (water fittings) (Scotland) Byelaws 2014 when considering point-of-use protection for the prevention of risk of backflow in the design of bathrooms or shower rooms.

    As an designer of products for sale, I was really impressed with Roger to acknowledge the difficulties to actually selling products that only start once the product is designed,

    Wow this looks like an excellent product, and I'm definitely gonna purchase one of these systems.
    Would be great to see skill builder use one of these on a bathroom fitting video.
    I'm definitely planning on using a Alfie in our new bathroom.
    The only problem is I live in France and copper pipe size is,
    10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm..
    Do you think the Alfie would be compatible with French pipe sizes?

  • @chrisosh9574
    @chrisosh9574 4 роки тому +1

    I am not a plumber, which makes that system all the more interesting, when I moved into my house, all the plumbing fittings, windows etc had been stolen by squatters. That meant it was me who had to replace everything, nothing coming out of the walls was in line with any fittings and the swan necks never quite seem to go in the right place, if this system had been installed previously it would have saved me a lot of grief and my wife learning bad words she had never heard before.
    Prices would be handy though.

      @"Behave yourself man" I've just read your original comment thread. Monty, Ridiculing the speech inflections of south east asians, whose native languages have developed over thousands of years, so that they have difficulty pronouncing the english letter "l", is racist. As a white, cis gendered , patriarchal, Yorkshireman with all of the privilege in the world, I am offended.
      So what's it to be? Pistols at dawn, or last to down his pint in one is a pussy?
      I use the pejorative term "pussy", not as a gendered noun as men can have pussies too.... allegedly.

    Hi Rodger I just want to ask a quick question. I'm 15 years old do you think I should be allowed to do wee jobs using power tools? Because some people say I shouldn't I'm not qualified, too young. What do you think?

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  4 роки тому +3

      Hi Mark
      I think you will know better than most people when you are ready. I would say that 15 years old is plenty old enough. I started a Saturday job in a local butchers shop when I was 12 and they had me chopping up lamb cutlets on a block. There was never any question of protecting me and a few times I had a bad cut. It makes you more careful.

    • @loafersheffield
      @loafersheffield 4 роки тому +1

      @Mark Reid I had a Sunday morning paper round and a Monday to Satdy milk round. The weight of the paper bags was immense and would probably contravene health and safety legislation now. I used to stand on the back plate of a Transit van holding onto a grab rail whilst mad Betty, the driver, raced around corners on two wheels. The milk crates would skid around like crazy. Problem is, nowadays you can't legislate for common sense, so rules are needed. There are an army of personal injury lawyers and people who will exploit the system, feigning injury for personal or monetary gain.
      Case in point: Soccer players taking "dives"

      @Mark Reid. You're welcome! Common sense. A rare commodity these days. From the deeply philosophical and political activism of Thomas Paine (I have read Common Sense) to the silly musings of an Australian, metal head, comedian.
      This is funny. std Friday night fare.
