- Tge Mercedes Benz E Class is back again, this time there is pothole damage to car as it is taking on even bigger potholes and faster than ever before, potholes so big in fact that they popped my tires, will it survive?.
I Film it in 4K slow motion and mount additional high-speed cameras so we can see how the suspension works closer and more in detail than ever before, I am amazed at how well the car handles these extreme potholes and extreme situation.
How far I can push this car until it breaks ?, let's find out.
This is episode 2, there are more episodes coming up right after this one so stay tuned and subscribe.
Also, tell us what you think in the comments and if you have any suggestions don't hold back.
This is the first full Format TV Version posting to UA-cam, please also check us out on Discovery Channel as well.
This car as good as it looks was scheduled to go to the crusher and a week before it was getting picked up I decided to use it for this series, due to legal reasons it could not be retitled, and could not be salvaged, , all the parts that I stripped off of this car I gave away two other E-class owners for free. Contrary to what many people believe my intention is not to destroy or trash this car.
so I'm going to answer all of the other comments and questions that were sent to me in a separate video on our behind the scenes Channel,

Probably this guy could win the guiness world record for the most warning lights popped on a mercedes benz.
nah, buy any pre-facelifted W203 c-class and you'll beat him
That’s normal for a German car.
14725800369 I have a W203 C *270 CDI* and I got 16 "malfunctions".
naw most Mercedes drive like this daily
NO! You don't know what they are supposed for: They are Multi-colored instrument cluster decoration lamps.
But they always Fail, i like too see them, they are so cool. And with many different symbols.
When your on your way to Los Santos Customs 6:46
I love this
the people passing him were probably like: WTF DID THAT DUDE DO WO HIS CAR?!
Lol
What’s wrong with her now?!?
"How is life going?"
Me: 6:45
The new camera angles definitely made this more interesting!
4:48 i love how you stripped the whole car but decided to keep the front merc logo lol
A touch of Class . . .
He added that on there! No joke when he bought the car someone had stole that cross, ripped it off the hood!
that's pretty impressive how the cabin didn't shake that much when the car hit the pothole 😨
+Arie r I noticed the same thing, it seems like the cabin is made kind of like an egg, everything else outside of the cabin is pretty flexible, but inside those pillars its rigid
Warped Perception that's why the 47,5% of taxis in my country are E class (diesel engined). The other 47,5% are Skoda Octavia (diesel engined too). Finally the last 5% are other cars like Toyota Corolla, BMW 5 series, Opel, Peugeot, and even Toyota Prius (all diesel engined, except the last).
Should have drifted into the pothole and see the wheel get wrecked on its side.
Guitarfollower22 axle bender
Oooohhhhsssss. Yes do this. Show a drifter what goes wrong
Guitarfollower22 probably destroy the suspension then he can’t test with the car anymore (without paying for expensive repairs).. maybe the final test
Guitarfollower22 how did you get that spider on your picture is it a 3D picture?
its just the regular picture with a spider pasted on it
Nice project. 5:36 - is my favorite part.
Yea it’s comprehensive!
I think Mercedes Benz can be proud of you and your E Class !
As an added bonus we got to see exactly how it looks when the control arm bushings get worn out. This video was great, not every day you get to see a car's suspension in action, especially during extreme situations. I love it.
+mariomdv agree !. Thanks for watching and thanks for your feedback
I accidentally hit a pothole around 30mph in my W211 on passenger side front wheel the other day. It's fascinating to see articulation of suspension parts cycling through with mini high-speed camera mounted in front of front wheel. Can't wait to see your future episodes!
Benz e class for sale..clean carfax and low miles!! :)
Custom Supra Legira
Ford Hermansen includes stage 3 weight reduction
Lmao
wow this was like a motion picture movie
Igli N totally
Honestly this content is better than the content shown on TV.
This is great! As a Colombian in my city Bogota this is basically what we face every single day, of course we take it easy on the cars but sometimes theres a new pothole that you don’t expect
as a mercedes owner this hurts but now we notice how will the car is built, except rust damage. i'm satisfied with my mercedes. best car ever till now ...
How do you have so few subscribers? These videos are gold.
Eyal R. Thank you !. I Just started out this January with good uploads. Also I don't have a ton of posts because I had a huge freebooting nightmare in the first half of this year that I had to address first. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching.
Thank you for making awesome content! I feel like the sub count will skyrocket soon.
Eyal R. For real.. I just assumed he had millions but I guess he’s pretty new to this. I’m sure it won’t take long though just needs a few featured videos
Warped Perception Glad you doing better after that dirty divorce man!
Alpha Macho lol... Dirty Divorce ??
This mercedes benz is yearning some mercy!
This is starting to look really good. I really liked that you cut it up even more
Davvesto y , cause u r a bmw fan boy ???
nah i prefer Volvo
Just so you're aware, it was stripped down the same amount in the previous video, look at the bit where he made it go airborn
Now that's what I call weight reduction.. learn Porsche ..learn
You're talking about the new 911 ? 30kg less and it is a new model , the 911 S
Donald E VW owns Porsche, but Porsche still makes their own cars
Lucky me just finishing watching part 1
If this video was to make me even more terrified of potholes y’all have done a damn good job
Yes! That was awesome! I've always cringed watching people hitting speed bumps. This makes me happy I avoid pot holes lol. Great work !
amherstkidd99 I cringe going over speed bumps..
I'm from Chicago .. driving around next to Cabrini-Green in that car back in the 70's and early 80's you'd have been shot. Nice video! 😎
My first car is a w211 from 2005 ❤️ such a charming vehicle. Mercedes should put this back in production. These were built to last!
Is it possible to somehow demonstrate the functionality of ABS in slow motion? Would be great!
Wow, I'm impressed by your new editing style! Like it!
I also like the detailed resulting motions after the impact. All the sudden I realize the amount of engineering required to manufacture a great car.
Wicked... This just shows how strong Mercedes are built.. Very well engineered just like Beemers and Audis
Oh W211. 😭💔. Mercedes though...made for life. So robust and even after abuse ride better than most new cars. It's why many countries use Mercedes as emergency vehicles (driving over speed bumps and pavements at speed) and taxis. Robust and reliable. I love the W211 so much.
reeeeaally high quality
Thank you! Those two videos were rather fun to watch...and informative too! I love the freeze frame that labels the parts before we see the slow motion. It was shocking to see how much travel there is!
This channel is getting better and better
The sound effects really add up to the collision.
Eclass! All the way! E55. 💪👍
Tried to make a video of beating up a Mercedes but Mercedes beat him up for the second time LMFAO!!!
I recently hit a pothole and this video was helpful understanding how my tire got damaged (it has got a bulge like in 4:42)
I already watched this video 3 years ago but went back because I knew I would find the explanation to what happened to me. Thanks a lot!
Mercedes really knows how to build a car. If it wasn't a Benz this video series wouldn't have made it further than halfway through the first pothole in the first video.
I'd like to see this on a car whose suspension bushings aren't already completely worn out. Lots of toe play from the control arms. This is cool too though.
You increased the value of the car by a factor of 50 by adding those cameras! lol
This channel is amazing and I love these videos! It’s fascinating to see the shockwaves rippling through the car in slow motion.
i see this with a lot of great channels... WHERE ARE ALL THE SUBSCRIBERS????? come on youtube...
+WaynesWorkVlog exactly.. thank you !!!!
I liked this part better than part 1.
I can't wait to see what happened to that benz
"what do you think about this project?"
"It's inner resting, really inner resting"
Neis
0:01 welcome back he knows, viewers will come back 😂😂
*NOW i'm impressed, i was kinda upset that you trashed this fine car at first but now i'm seeing valuable science play out in front of me here and it's just as interesting as the car it's self. seeing how the energy transfers through the whole frame like that when it's jostled around by the impact is pretty impressive. It shows what is going on with the external components and the underlying frame parts that we never get to see normally. still kind of upset because this was a totally repairable vehicle. yeah looked like the lower control arm bushings are worn slam out on that car too. it would be nice if after all of this you could put it back together and drive it still but even if not you should be able to get a pretty good penny for all of those parts you ripped off of it from people rebuilding wrecked cars like this one. ebay is yo friend*
This is pretty cool of an idea and series! I like seeing Chi and the slo-mo effects the streets have on the car!
I see the body remains undistorted while running over the pothole. I am curious to see how Lexus performs under the same stress conditions. Nice job! Very well done.
i developed pot hole tests and analyzed road hazard results for the number 1 tire company. there were suspension systems that were not very good for the pot hole test. this variable was removed from the test. as you demonstrated, pinch shock damage was the main concern. broken cords result in rapid tire pressure loss. damaged cords can result in broken cords and rapid air loss surprise sometime later. factors were pot hole geometry, vehicle speed, tire pressure, tire design. one of the major factors is tire aspect ratio. pinch shock damage severity goes up dramatically as sidewall height is decreased.
Park a decent car in some of those neighborhoods and they will look just like yours but without wheels.
+upside downdog lol. While I was driving to and from the location I messed with so many people, I told them I parked my car in Cabrini-Green and it got stripped overnight. They were freaking out.
Warped Perception
Now THAT'S funny!!
If you can imagine that killer pothole, but about 3x bigger, and with 70% area of the road is potholes, that's what my road used to look like (70% was not an exaggeration, I did the approximation looking at Google maps a couple years ago, that's how bad the potholes were). I knocked the fenders off my dirt bike and got launched into a ditch by one of the 5 ft diameter holes (landed it well enough, but was not a pleasant experience...). Solution was just to turn the road into gravel, so it was only paved for about 2 years... Pretty crappy job making it if the road only lasts 2 years before they give up on it, turning it back into gravel.
I was super critical of some of your original posts, but you earned respect. I'm loving this shit man!
+J. NiZm0 thank you !!. My spot on UA-cam has been at work in progress, the original stuff that I was putting out was just to plant the stake. I couldn't bring the original content to UA-cam until I could prove that I was going to work, thanks for your feedback and thanks for watching, I'm very glad you like it and I'm happy that I was able to make this work, it was a long time coming.
YYEEEEESSS!!! Its a pleasure to watch someone else's car getting this treatment :)
Im impressed with ur driving control 👍👍👍
why thank you !!! ... :-)
Man i hope your back is okay that shit kinda takes a toll on it. I live about 2 hours away from Chicago in Normal some roads here are just brutal
Grey61761 considering how luxurious that e class is,its probably okay
Grey61761 on your bicycle? Ya true
Holy crap those control arms and tie-rods took a beating, but held up. Best one yet, keep these videos coming.
+Russell Poyner it's crazy all of the things that happen that we can't see. For one because they're covered up for two because they happened too fast, but it's impressive how much abuse those arms take even under normal circumstances
Incredible elasticity in that steering rod assembly.
And you're the coolest guy on the Internets
Another city that I highly recommend the pothole test is Montreal.
Please. Edmonton or northern Alberta
Gotta love Arandas Tires!
This is invaluable research right here! Those forces are freaking massive!
This channel gets better by the sec
4:45 you got some nice impact bubbles/sidewall bubbles on both tires
this is another notch up in youtube filmmaking quality of this genre/niche. congrats, you're the best!
I like what your doing. Keep it up!!
the suspension is doing a great job
Please try doing a video of hitting a curb at high speed and slow motion. It would be much appreciated
Great video!
The fact that you are considered a bad road, we have the usual!)
And on such a road ride at a speed of basically 60-70 km / h ... and the suspension at the Mercedes is a strong actor, especially at B124!)
I apologize for the bad English.
I am very impressed i thunk in the next episode this guy should demonstrate "what happens when you hit a wall straight on at 35 mph" and to make things interesting he should do it without a seatbelt
+Andre Stojanovic they already have those types of videos out there, that's a boring idea. I don't really like Crash Test videos. Any other suggestions?
This made me understand a lot,W211 is nice car, awesome video.
I pretty much have memorized every pothole in the city, I just drive around them, up until a new one pops up. Damm you Rahm!
Incredible seeing the suspension working in slo-mo.
2:42 I like how he left Mercedes logo on car lol
Love those control arm bushings!
Stripping the car made the suspension perform much worse. This is because you have increased the sprung to unsprung weight ratio. This meant that the results weren't accurate. But nice video, keep it up! :)
Max Exactly. The ride frequency has increased.
indeed, also it showed me atleast, how much shock absorbers are needed to protect the sub frame. The forward rubber bush on the wish bone was working hard. An excellent opportunity to see the suspension at work.
6:07 I think you may need new control arm bushings lol
this guy know everyone
Wow shoutout to Mercedes-Benz for apparently making the toughest wheels around 🎉
ULTRA NICE VIDEO , greetings from Germany
Greetings Earthling
I was expecting to see a lot more body twist. Good job Mercedes-Benz !
Has anyone else taken note that having removed certain parts affect its characteristics drastically? Like reduced structural integrity from removing the front fenders, the doors, and hood, not to mention the reduced weight changes things a lot too. Hmmm
I didn't know Shoenice made pothole videos!
You drove that car down the streets of Chicago. LOL. What I'd give to see peoples reactions. Its like you saved the car from a chop shop.
Superb footage with the new mini cameras. Very nice of Vision Research to send them and the engineer to help.
I love these! Thanks for sharing with us! =D
the jetta smirking in the background
Part two of the E class torture. Inner resting indeed.
amazing. Only one finger lost so far...
there's something satisfying about having the exterior stripped but the leather seats are still in the back
I would keep the rims and take the seats and make them into a gaming chair🤔 Chicago definitely has some of the worst potholes 😂
"This car as good as it looks was scheduled to go to the crusher and a week before it was getting picked up I decided to use it for this series, due to legal reasons it could not be retitled, and could not be salvaged, , all the parts that I stripped off of this car I gave away two other E-class owners for free. -Warped Wahrnehmung
Finnlolig instead of simply being crushed without fanfare, this E Class gets to go out with a bang for science!
Less weight better mpg!
You deserve applauses buddy. Nice initiative. Thank you for the this nice content.
Amazing channel! more videos... :))
Awesome video, so interesting....
Those wheels are the real MVP. VW ones would have dented just looking at those potholes
Good point ...haha
Great to see the detail in close up slow-mo - great job!
Happy that I always have to turn my volume down on your videos vs most of the time on UA-cam I can't turn it up enough. Thanks for that
Man these videos are very well made
+Data Wasp thank you, they also air on Discovery Channel
These are great cars.
Great video! Living in Chicago, just a bit north of where this video was made, I am very aware of how insanely bad our roads are and the beatings our cars take as a result. My MKz with low profile tires polished rims has definitely slowed me down as all it takes it one good hit and you're parting with a few G's.
That's some stage 5 weight reduction right there
Man, I gotta keep watching so that I can see when your lower front left A arm pops off due to the nonexistent bushing.
Yeah, this. Those crazy wheel wobbles make more sense now.
I only just found your channel and I must admit it is one of the very best around keep up the great work and thank you
Bro i just got dropped off at work by my uncle, I got out, closed the door he pulls away then like a minute later i heard BAM! peeling out and plastic dragging. He hit one hella hard. Im currently comforting him as hes kinda pissed haha.
