  • In this episode, I drive my See thru car through potholes faster and faster to see if I can get the airbags to deploy and they did, my tests had some very interesting and unexpected results but the airbags blew no doubt.
    after this episode, I definitely think differently about how potholes can damage and affect my vehicle and I now avoid them like the plague.
    make sure you check out the last 2 Episodes I made with this car and potholes, it was very interesting as well links below.

      Yep, that is what I was going to say. And it is real life because often it is too late when you see the pothole so your foot will be on the brake at the moment you dunk!
      If I cannot brake quick enough, I might release the brake as I am about to dunk to ease some weight off the front suspension and tyres

    • @derbigpr500
      @derbigpr500 5 років тому +1

      It won't actually break the suspension components. The rims will get fucked if he hits a sharp obstacle too quickly, and if he hits a softer bump really quickly the suspension will simply bottom out and the tire will soften the blow, in the most extreme case the tire will blow or the in THE MOST extreme case the wheel will come off the wheel hub, but the suspension components themselves won't break.

    Here's an idea!!
    So I've seen and heard commercials that new Ford vehicles have some sort of pot hole detection feature that detects when the car is going to go over a pot hole. I guess the car stiffens the suspension so the wheel doesn't sink into the whole -at least that's what I believe it does. It would be really cool to see you test a Ford car with the high speed camera and see how much of a different it makes! Love the videos!!

      Yeah dude the E Class is a really good car. I drive a 2007 E350 that my mom handed down to me. Despite its age my friends compliment the car's looks and even more importantly, the ride. They can't believe how smooth it is. Also, they get so shocked when I tell them it's a 2007 with 160k miles on it.
      The parts and repairs might cost more but it's worth it because the parts last a long time. For example, we replaced the stock suspension and battery after 11 years of use.
      Lastly the car feels really safe. I got into an accident with it but I didn't feel any violent jerk and I came out unscathed. However, the Honda civic I hit was destroyed and the occupant somewhat bruised.

    there is this HUGE tree in the suburbs near where i live. The road under it always gets clusters of small bumps and potholes. Everyone comes to a slow down or even stops and crawls over it. One day i let my dad drive my brz.. without knowing about the potholes he went 35 over them... I braced for impact... but felt nothing. It blew my mind, From that day on i realized how to better take on potholes. Sometimes, you actually have to maintain speed and just drive through them as it will cause the least harm.. sometimes you have no choice but to avoid/crawl through.

      That car has the M112 V6 engine.
      It's virtually indestructible. Only serious issues they had that I'm aware of were the counter balance shaft gear would shear its teeth in the early models and the radiator/ transmission cooler would spring a leak and contaminate the coolant with trans fluid and visa versa. Most of them had it fixed in time.

    Pls make a video on change in brake oil temperature on heavy braking... There is not a single video on this topic.... Most of them don't know that brake oil absorbs moisture and starts to boil if has not been changed for a long time ...

    It’s crazy how sometimes if you go fast you’ll skip over the pothole and save a tire. Just a few weeks ago I saw a pothole eat a Porsche 911 wheel at 75 mph.

  • @suprawish25
    @suprawish25 6 років тому

    Yes it can theres a video on UA-cam i just watched where he hits a hole. Essentially its the car dropping into the hole far enough to cause your bumper to hit the ground. This causes the bumper to jerk backward and basically telling it to go off. Now side airbag is due to the heavy vibration through the body causing it to trip. Seen a ZL1 Camaro with side cut out straight pipes set off the airbags

    This is really cool, I went through a big pothole in my e-class recently but i didn't get any tyre damage or wheel damage by the looks of it. It made a big bang. I guess it wasn't as bad as the impacts you had in this video, but it's really cool to see how the suspension behaves. Also, it does indeed appear that this e-class is built like a tank.
    What did the Mercedes garage have to say about the final results here? :)

    • @WarpedYT
      @WarpedYT  6 років тому +2

      Zylon FPV thank you, as for the Mercedes garage, I had an actor drive the car in there and say that she needed it repaired, I was going to include it in the video as like a hidden camera skit, but she totally blew the part and didn't even get out of the car. Yeah it was funny though.

      That is really cool, man. Very few are blessed with the gifts and opportunities like Elon Musk has and to have worked with him is just phenomenal for techy guys like us. I know some would strongly disagree but you might have as well been talking about George Lucas, lol.

      ChuddleBuggy true , it's all about leveraging your Luck and snatching every opportunity as well as alot of "fake it till you make it" amongst other things. I had a joint project with Elon and Muller right before space x , he looked much different back then. I went through hell and back last 10years but I'm back on track now and I'm doing my own thing. You will see in the upcoming episodes !!. I can't wait.

    At my collision repair shop, I had a collection of real deployed airbags. They were all cut from the wheel of a hard head on collision, then framed and hung on the office walls. Each one had a womans face in full makeup smashed into it. You could see all the detail like eye liner, blush, lipstick, mascara Ect.
    Even the surface was somewhat stretched into the shape of a face. My customers loved it because it was art taken from real life.

      Warped Perception, not that this is the same incident that occurred to me but when I was two years old I have one memory of waking up in an oxygen tent because I had double pneumonia. You remember what happened right before your traumatic incident occurred. I remember afterwards when I woke up recovering. I asked my uncle for something to drink, I was thirsty. Only memory I've had that far back as 2. When you said you had that one memory at 2 it reminded me of that one memory I had at the very same young age during a traumatic incident, too. I don't hear that too often. :)

    The wheels flying over the pothole at 45+mph was very interesting. Do you know if it is an inherent design of cars in general or this model?
    Also, do you know why the curtain airbags went off? Was it a malfunction of a sensor?
    Happy new year
