I've owned F150 Powerboosts since March 2022, when I took delivery of my '22 F150 Lariat 502A Powerboost. 70,000 trouble free kms later, I sold this Powerboost to my son and just took delivery of my '24 F150 Powerboost a couple days ago. After 45 yrs of buying and leasing trucks, big and small, for work and personal use, the Powerboost stands out as one of the best and certainly the most versatile truck I've owned. Our '22 Powerboost XLT is strictly a work truck and does double duty between the quarry and mechanical engineering firm. Happy Customer!
One benefit of the Powerboost that is rarely mentioned is that the regen braking is in addition to the full mechanical brakes in every F150, so the Powerboost has better braking by combining them than other F150’s at the same weight.
One week into being a Power Boost owner, this exact Truck but in grey. Love the power boost. This truck just makes sense, I can charge my boat batteries out at a remote lake and get great gas mileage driving kids around town. I really can't find fault with it. The only gripe I guess is that for an 80 grand truck it should have a heated steering wheel but I'm going to put one in myself from a Lariat later on.
Great job Steve! You make the most honest non biased car reviews. Fantastic info and reviewing! Love to see more off road and capability tests! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the great review on my all time favorite truck. At 52, I bought and traded 5 ‘24 pickups this summer, different brands high trim level and 1500 / HD / gas and diesel looking for my sweet spot. I finally landed on the 24 PB F150 yesterday. The absolute best sweet spot for me. The will have to pry this one from my cold dead hands. Just the absolute most comfortable and amazing truck I have ever had. Hands down. This thing is an absolute dream! Power boost for life!
About payload, it's not just the trim but its also the extras like you point out. I have 24 Lariat, 4wd, 3.5 eco, (not powerboost), tow package, 6.5ft box, no sunroof and my payload is 1755lb almost as much as the STX you tested.
And the tires/tire rating play into it as well. Sadly, the marketting folks sometimes prescribe a low payload tire on some trims to not over-emphasize their ability versus higher trims.
Love my power boost great mileage tows with easy powered my house for two days only used a a little less than half a tank . Not to mention the fact that it would blow the doors off a dodge or a chevy
I want to know what the mpg was while towing. I have a ‘23 Platinum Powerboost & I get 13-14 mpg towing a single axle utility trail with a ramp gate. That sucks in my opinion. If it’s windy, my empty & not towing highway mpg is around 16-17 mpg. I NEVER get more than 22 mpg. I really should have looked closer at the GMC Denali Duramax 3.0 that easily gets in the high 20s mpg. My Powerboost is a disappointment, but it is quiet, smooth & powerful.
I’m a happy 2024 XLT PB owner and plan to keep the truck for at least a couple years. If they come out with a Tremor PB that would get my attention for sure. I wish the Tremor package could be a dealer add on for existing F150 owners.
I’ve had my ‘24 XLT Powerboost for a little over a month now and I’m really happy with it. Wish I could have had the color matched bumper instead of chrome, but that isn’t available with Atlas blue for some reason. I was able to get the column shifter, though.
Ford is a strange company. Where it comes to ordering you never know what you are going to get…I mean you do, but somehow you also just know that Ford will have some weird thing happening where you need to make some compromise for no apparent reason. 😂 Also it really peeved me that PowerFlow wasn’t included with Sync4 I was so looking forward to that graphic to see how things worked…I was surprised to realize it didn’t exist.

The batteries of the hybrid consume 200 lbs. of payload vs non-hybrid version. The batteries actually weigh 500 lbs, but Ford has beefed the truck up to handle 300 lbs of that weight leaving the 200 lbs to reduce payload.
For offers the 2.3 and the 2kw plugs in the 2.7 and 3.5 ecoboost aswell. These F150s are the best all around and best killing hemis at stop lights all over North America 👌👍🏻🤣
Yes that's correct. O bought mine with the 2kw generator for camping. I also use it for my Ninja woodfire grill to smoke a brisket or burnt ends while I'm out ice fishing😄
I love the blackout package, and it looks especially good with that red exterior. Do you know, does adding the Powerboost engine increase or decrease the towing and especially important the payload capacity compared to the normal gas engines? And if so by how much? Oh, and that's a great point about the flat work surface unable to be used while driving without that column shifter. I love the work surface, but hadn't thought about that. The availability of that work surface is the reason I am only considering F150's and not any other brand of pickup.
The fuel mileage in my 22 would range between 20 to 24mpg. Weird thing was that it would only do 24 mpg when I had 93 or 94 octane in it.....I would only run that fuel on really long road trips or when hauling to help with heat and knock
It’s a bit hard to do that. Though I know tow haul on a Powerboost works to increase the battery state of charge more than any other mode. Guys who track it with OBD monitors have found that the State of Charge for the battery never gets higher than when in tow/haul mode. So it’s a good regime for comparison. I know it does this so there is always electric torque to back up the engine for towing purposes.
@@TheLumberJacked Yeah, probably also related is that in Town/Haul mode, it's runs more on straight engine than in Hybrid Mode, which seems to involve a blend of electric motor and engine.

I am considering a replacement truck for towing 8,500# TT in the Colorado mountains. You really need a turbo at 11,000 feet. Problem with these is that they actually have less payload than my 2001 GMC Sierra 1500. I know there is a payload package, but they are very hard to find used. Only other option is a 2500 with a diesel and it's DEF issues.
Thank You for the comparison these are the two trucks. I am looking at I have a swimming pool maintenance route. I’m very interested in either the lightning or the power boost. Can you tell me when they are changing the plug on the lightning to the Tesla plug right now? I’m very intrigued by the flash model. I definitely want the larger battery at the lowest price.
My 24 XLT 3.5 EcoBoost has 1790 for payload and I also have the black package but the regular black package. You are showing the black plus. Regular comes with 18s the plus has leather and 20s

Another solid review! Thank you. A question. I'm considering a Raptor, Tremor 402A package or Platinum/Platinum Plus later in 2025. I want the front torsion diff of the Tremor, but really want the Powerboost that comes with the P or PP, and the P or PP do have those luxury interiors, and the dampeners. My question is, and putting price aside, since I can get the Powerboost in the XLT like this too, does a loaded XLT with the Powerboost offer any advantages over a Loaded P or PP with the Powerboost? And do you know, could I option the front torsion diff in the XLT or P/PP? I'm considering a 2.5-3.5" level/lift, any appropriate suspension upgrades that may be recommended as a result, and 35 tires with a bit of poke after market whichever I get. Thanks.

@@dmegahan Not quite. First, this has 1406 lbs not 1500 lbs. 2nd, Most travel trailers run 13%-15% tongue weight. It's a fantastic engine/powertrain. I've owned/own them all and our PBs have been dead nuts reliable. We have 3 of them in our family currently, personal and business use. Our trucks aren't babied and they're certainly not mall runners. Last winter, prior to buying another PB, I cross shopped brands. The most disappointing of all trucks was the new Tundra; that truck is an embarrassment to the old Toyota I was familiar with.
@@daverules No they are not. Ford updated the phasers and was putting them in the 3.5L at the factory since 2019. No Powerboost ever came from the factory with the old phaser design. The only trucks that had issues were ones built in 2017 through mid 2019, and all of them would have been fixed/updated via the TSB. You're spouting off 5 year old news at this point.
@@daverulesthat’s not true. Can Phasers have been fixed, they have a different part now. Same with other issues like the 10r80 trans basket. Fixed, the heat exchanger in the exhaust on the Powerboost similarity solved. The bypass valve rattle on the turbo, fixed, uses a new rotary valve, no rattle possible. The 2024’s are remarkably buttoned up trucks all things considered.
@@JT012I would have gone without the sunroof if I could. At the end of the day I always have to tint them darker so I don’t pay for that feature all summer lol.
That’s why you buy a Toyota ;) they spend years developing a platform and then run that body style for 10 years plus. Look at the tundra Tacoma and 4Runner.
My man. As a Non-EV guy myself, this is the wrong take. 8 year 160,000km Hybrid component warranty. 24mpg city and FAST. 570 fpt. What’s not to like. Spent a lot of time on the forums and heard not one story of someone needing any hybrid components replaced. I’m not here to change your mind really, but as someone who dislikes EV’s Hybrids, I was wrong on this one and I’m glad I figured it out before buying, it’s been fun.
Right….. who would want a truck that can blow the doors off pretty much any ICE truck at the stoplights, get 8.5L/100km in city driving, sit and idle with the a/c or heat on for a long time before the ICE kicks back on for about 45 seconds, can power multiple homes during a power outage or power your RV’s a/c while you’re dry camping? You’d have to be crazy to want that…. Lol
Love my 2022 Powerboost with 7200 watt onboard generator! My Electricians 2013 Ecoboost has over 300k mile and still going strong with zero issues and that is no joke!
Hey Ford, Where is my 2024 F150 Platinum with 702A package, Powerboost engine, 6.5 bed, FX4 package, onboard scrale, and hard tonneau cover. I've ordered it through Ford Lincoln Dealership in Kamloops, B.C ., Canada last November 8, 2024.
No I have mine for 5 years still original pads. Good power just oil and tires rotation. Still original battery as well. I did have to spend $1300 on new tires but that’s Michelin fault. Didn’t last 40k miles before replacing them with falken wildpeak
What worries me about Ford, particularly the F150 hybrid, is reliability and serviceability. I also definitely do not like the rust already showing on a brand new truck.
When speaking of rust, in all fairness, you should talk about where you're concerned about rust. My guess is, it's the rear differential and axle and some have surface rust on the drive shaft. The body of the F150 is impeccable, made of aluminum and has no corrosion. I just took delivery of my '24 Lariat PB (built Aug 2024) and there's zero rust on the rear diff and axle or anywhere else for that matter. The drive shaft is nice and clean and shiny. I'm happy to provide pics of same to you or anyone who is sincerely concerned. With regards to serviceability and reliability, what exactly are your concerns? This is my 3rd PB since 2022, and none of them have been traded in or returned. The trucks have been really reliable under gruelling work conditions.
Re the Hybrid. I wouldn’t worry. It has an 8 year 160,000km (so whatever that is in mile) warranty on just the hybrid parts. That should buy you peace of mind. I spent a lot of time in the forums and never heard of anyone needing hybrid components replaced. Re Rust: Ya all trucks have this issue eventually with how much salt is used everywhere now. My advice is buy it then do a rust prevention on it and some undercoat. It’s pretty reasonably priced too. That will solve your issue. I know of no truck currently that remains rust free for long today on components that are pelted with grit and dust. I think for you rust mitigation coatings are a must and that’s totally fair. But that axle could be coated in rust and it won’t make a difference, even long term, but it won’t look good. Still, I am getting it don’t to the Powerboost I just bought for that reason.
I do agree with the other poster by the way, mine is all shiny and new and rust free, but realistically doing a rust prevention treatment will keep it mint. The nice thing about Fords is you don’t need the rust prevention in your panels. They spray it inside through holes and it’s totally unnecessary on a ford body panel, so that will save you money too.
OP I forgot to mention. Remember this is a demo or a borrowed truck, not a new truck. It could be as old as late 2023…certainly early this year since the bed utility package was updated in June builds to add the 2 piece tailgate with sideways opening door. So this isn’t new off the showroom floor.
You are correct. The battery and the 2.4 kilowatt electric motor integrated into the transmission. I have the 2023 powerboost 4x2 and it has a 1740lb payload
Towing capacity between the STX and this truck you mentioned was probably not options as much as the added weight from the power boost engine and battery.
Dude, you are so big that headrest isn't even going to save your neck (in the literal sense) in a bad crash. The headrest is supposed to be against the back of the head, not the back of the neck.
Does the hood still flap at highway speeds? My tailgate step broke on the 5th use. Tailgate use to pop open. Brakes use to activate on their own. Front end started rattling after 20,000kms it was used as a work truck My truck was a 2022

Looks great.
I don't care for Ford's, but you get a watch and a like to help the Chanel. Keep up the good work.
I just picked up the 2024 STX very nice truck. I love it by the way this is with the V-8 5.0 ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
What was mpg while towing
Steve understands the difference between damped and dampened. 😂
That is one good looking XLT, and I don't even like red.
What was your fuel consumption when towing that trailer?
Crazy that my hybrid maverick xlt has a 100lbs more payload capacity than that F-150.
They can handle a lot more, it has the heavy duty frame and all from the HDPP. But 36PSI on SL tires kills it.
It's the options like the moonroof that kill payload. My 2023 F-150 Tremor has 1760 lbs of payload.
@@JT012 1700 here powerboost super crew 4x4
It's all about the options, and a moonroof is the most payload crushing option. @newenglandrvadventures
@@JT012I would have gone without the sunroof if I could. At the end of the day I always have to tint them darker so I don’t pay for that feature all summer lol.
Is there a reason Ford doesn’t use the 5.0 V8 for powerboost instead of the 3.5?
Plastic skid plates will keep down sparks. 🤯🤯🤯
what fuel economy did you get pulling the trailer?
Never said did he. Biggest downside to this truck. Reports are 7-9 for this load. GM 3.0 diesel 15-17
This car makers are refreshing the looks of the trucks every 2 yrs so if i buy a truck now in 2 yrs my 60k truck will be outdated
That’s why you buy a Toyota ;) they spend years developing a platform and then run that body style for 10 years plus. Look at the tundra Tacoma and 4Runner.
Hell yeah! Truck King with new video upload! Awesome, it's a Ford F-150 Powerboost! Oh, it's a hybrid? Nah, I'm good.
@@davewilson8308 Keep the oil changed, max 5000 miles, with a premium synthetic and you’re gold!
Does the Ford parking brake system wear out rear brake pads fast, like the GM"s ?
@@coddiwomplecolster7329 You’re commenting all the way from the UK??
Do you have any of those pull handle straps left? My brother wants some!
all out right now.
Doesn’t the piwerboost come with a battery under the bed for the hybrid? If so, that would take away from the payload number
You are correct. The battery and the 2.4 kilowatt electric motor integrated into the transmission. I have the 2023 powerboost 4x2 and it has a 1740lb payload
Que bueno que sería que pongan la opción de subtitulos en ESPAÑOL

The one thing XLT is missing, 4A 😥
Great job
New sub here
Awesome thank you!
How much the sticker window ?
Nice looking truck. I think I would still go with the V8 TREMOR tho....
Love my 2023 F-150 Tremor with the 5.0 Coyote.
Did ford fix the 10spd problems?
Towing capacity between the STX and this truck you mentioned was probably not options as much as the added weight from the power boost engine and battery.
Dude, you are so big that headrest isn't even going to save your neck (in the literal sense) in a bad crash. The headrest is supposed to be against the back of the head, not the back of the neck.
why would you be using the work surface while driving? should you not be paying attention to where you are steering?
Why, for charcuterie of course!
is it just me or do the tailights look like they belonged on the nissan titan?
Wow 87
I got my 22 302 5.0 sport for 64 Canadian $
Why for taking away stuffs the engine shield cover now 😮
What trim is this ?
XLT with BAP
How did you get leather in XLT?
It’s the BAP that’s adds leather
Get rid of the 20" wheels. 18's would be fine. Would give a smoother ride and tires would not be as expensive.
Does the hood still flap at highway speeds?
My tailgate step broke on the 5th use.
Tailgate use to pop open.
Brakes use to activate on their own.
Front end started rattling after 20,000kms it was used as a work truck
My truck was a 2022
Dude? You must weigh 500 lbs. My 2019 f150 had the step and it was solid
@richdrumlang not 500lbs, north americans are a lot bigger than asians like yourself, but our vehicles are designed for our size. The handle for the step broke due to the plastic getting jammed somehow
how'd you get leather on an XLT?
You can’t, unless you have it converted in the aftermarket.
You can. It's XLT 303A package.
@@MattN03This is new. For a long time, there was no leather on an XLT. This makes the XLT really desirable, except for a lack of auto 4WD.
@@warrenbarnes9653correct. I think the 303A was added for the new 2024 model change. 302A used to be considered the XLT "high" package.

I have 1999 f 150 no infotainment center but do not need it does very good without infotainment center
that payload sucks. you will run out of payload before you reach the 11000 towing.
