You once said that your favorite aspect ratio is 2.39:1. That's another reason go watch Tár: the way it uses Scope to its full potential is marvelous! The shots have amazing spread from let to right, they often have many layers, they make everything feel so big and spacious, and the framing is so precise! Great directing, gorgeous cinematography and great set design!

The site in70mm is an amazing source for not only the schedule of 70mm screenings, but also the detailed history of all sorts of large formats and films shot in them. They even have original documentation.
I've seen there that Todd-AO's argument for a higher frame rate (30FPS) was that the huge size of the screen made flickering noticeable at the edges of the image. We humans are far more sensitive to flickering in the peripheries of our sight rather than what we are focusing on. That's the point the article makes.
Meanwhile, the documentation for MGM Camera 65 (later Ultra Panavision 70) argues against the need of a higher frame rate, stating that a triple-bladed shutter should solve all flickering issues.
