In addition to the knives we left in the park, we're giving away the Spyderco Manix and CJRB Pyrite from the video! Don't worry, we cleaned them...
Comment why you prefer lightweight or heavyweight knives for a chance to win!
I'm a lightweight knife guy all day! The less weight I have to carry around, the better. I already have enough attached to my belly lol
both are great knives though
I learned you guys are 12 1/2 hours from me lol. I like lightweight light weight and heavy I carry both lol. I was sad when my dragon fly 2 with the wave was lost. i dont trust that light pocket clip anymore
Lightweight knives are my favorite because I’m a pastor farmer and coach. In one day I can jump through my different tasks and having smaller knife makes that easiest for me.
I like heavyweight because I feel they are more secure and built for tougher tasks. It gives me comfort when beating them up.
I love heavyweight, most of the time I carry a heavyweight knife with me because I do a lot of stuff in the woods when I'm working.
Bring these videos back. The people need to know what these knives can get through
I would have said heavyweight until watching this!! I feel terrible for never valuing my lightweights for rugged use. Awesome content.
Tamarindo would have been the correct choice, but pineapple isn't a bad choice I guess
I've been afraid to try it because I almost never drink soda so on the rare occasion I do I want to like it. What does Tamarindo taste like
@@Baman21 it's definitely a unique flavor. To me it's kinda like salty, sweet raisins with more depth reminiscent of the smell of tobacco. It's something you've gotta try to see if you like. It's killer with spicy foods.
@@shkibby1 is it like black licorice...?
@@Baman21 not at all. Some folks say it's like banana kinda. I don't get that, but I'm not gonna argue with what anyone tastes
It's poop.
Legit been wanting more of these kinds of vids! Love it so much!
Civivi praxis goes in my camp bag, while the mini praxis is my EDC. I started carrying one of my grandfathers toothpick case knives so the lightweight knives feel more natural to me. Lightweight just makes since for most everyday tasks and I pack heavier tools for specific tasks.
One of your best vids in a while! 👌
I used a buck 112 slim all year on a construction site last year. It out performed many expensive knives. It was, tough, easy to clean and easy to sharpen. It's better than you think
Thanks for the video Karl! Awesome review. I am definitely interested in this pistol now. I look forward to future videos in this series.
What?
Those testers/ beaters would make great giveaway blades. I love blades! Keep up the great work !
I like heavyweight knives because I like the peace of mind they represent. I can use it hard if I have to.
I can't help but think that for a true comparison, each knife, big or small, should have had the same steel.
I got a midlarge fixed blade, a midlighweight folder and a small lightweight folder. Each has it's own purpose and use. 3 kinds are 👌
I open beer bottles with my knife all the time and never once had I ever even considered doing it as dumb as you guys did.
That was a great video! Love this kind of content
We love it too! 🙌
I’m a little late to the party, but I’ll carry a lightweight knife around town and I have a heavy fixed blade in my car in case I ever get stranded somewhere.
I had a concerned look on my face when you batoned with the Bugout, but I was amazed how well it held up. I don’t have a Bugout, but now I’m considering one. I typically carry a Spartan Enyo fixed blade in my front pocket. It’s really light even with the sheath.
Excellent video!
I missed this format... keep it up!
Why not both! Fixed blade for tougher task and small folder for EDC
Y’all are cool, I enjoy watching your content.
I'm a George too!
Awesome video!!!!
I'd pick the AD15 as my one to do all, that lock looks amazing.
I really wish I lived near Anderson Park.
Thanks for the upload, more of these please.
I prefer a heavyweight knife because I spend alot of time in the mountains. But lightweight knives are handy when I'm backpacking. Would like to see you guys do a video about the knife saws. I carry a Gerber exchange a blade. One blade for cutting wood and one for cutting bone when elk hunting. Just would like to know if there's a better option than a Gerber for that. Great job guys!
Great video guys!!
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙌
More proof of the old saying, "best tool for the job". I like all the knives on the table! Great video too.
Trick to poppin bottles with a knife.. use the gap In the handles like a normal bottle opener. It works best with a knife that has full steel liners. Bottle caps chew up g10.
Lightweight knives are my favorite because I’m a pastor farmer and coach. In one day I can jump through my different tasks and having smaller knife makes that easiest for me.
Great video, guys! Nature's awesome!
Great video. I’m a sucker for the heavyweights
Very good content keep it up! Heavyweight for this guy
I prefer heavy, if I have a tool I want to know it will take any task I send at it. Probably why I prefer fixed blades.
Lightweight for sure. Heavy can be great for camping, but at that point I would just bring a fixed blade. Lightweight is what EDC's should always be
I tend to daily carry my light knives without a second thought just because they're smaller and fit in my pockets very comfortably, but nothing beats the feel of a heavier knife in the hand
So did anyone go to those coordinates yet? It's too far of a drive from NJ so I'm out LOL!! Enjoyed the "Showdown"!!
Ayyy you guys got great taste when it comes to jarritos. Awesome video
Who knew that heaver knives would preform better than lightweight knives for heavy tasks.
😂😂😂😂
Right lmao, thought the same thing when I read the title
Cold steel espada heck yeah Lynn Thompson would be proud George
My favorite carry is the Spyderco techno 2. Feels just right in the hand
I prefer lt wt, bc 99% of the time that is all I need. Always keep my AD10 in the truck though jic
Should have had the Civvi Qubit tho for the bottle caps
The Cold Steel Code 4 carries like a small knife and would excel at these tasks. Bonus for the CTS-XHP version. I have a Kershaw Random Leek from 08 that has opened thousands of bottles!
Light sometimes doesn’t mean too much compromise in strength and function. It also depends on the setting, urban or outdoors. Still I tend to go for more knife than I think I’d need.
MORE! WE WANT MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok leavin the knives to be found by viewers and kept. Omfg that is really smart and awesome. Would be a great series on channels
Lightweight foe me. Preferably with a clip that minimally scratches stuff like countertops when I lean on them.
I carry one lightweight folder, and a heavy-duty fixed blade at all times. It’s best to have the strengths (advantages) of both designs.
My Spyderco Dragonfly 2 ha flea all the urban EDC package opening, and my ESEE Izula chops branches, digs holes, pries things loose, etc.
I lean towards heavy knives because I really like how much more sturdy they tend to feel and that they'll be able to handle most tasks I throw at them. Although I prefer carrying a balisong the most because they tend to be light, sturdy, and have extra style points.
more powa baby!
Bushcraft capabilities are less important in our cold states than being able to use the tip to pull yourself out of the water if you crash through ice on a lake.
I edc a Manix 2. It is a slicey beast.
I have the Para 3 and the Delica I’d love to give that CRJB Pyrite a try. I’ve always been a lighter knife is the better edc because a knife is only good if you have it with you. If you always have a heavy knife in your pocket it can get tiresome and you may leave it home. That being said I’d love to mix it up and carry a heavier knife now and again.
Great show gentlemen. More of this kind of show in the future...please.! Cowabunga.!
You got it! 👊
Carry one of each, heavy one for bigger tasks and of soft stuff so the blade stays sharp. Light weight knife as a beater for anything and something you don't care if it gets a bit dull, because you used it to pull staples.
My Kershaw Cryo would do all those taks without a issue. My favorite EDC
Y'all are so fucking real for getting the Jarritos 🤙🏼🇲🇽❤️
This made me laugh. That opening was so silly. Great testing, though. Not everyone carries a leatherman all the time. BTW: I froze those co-ordinates. On my way
I used to butcher rabbits with my opinel just fine, definitely a lightweight knife.
very cool video.
I prefer lightweight slicey folders tbh because they do the jobs I use folders for which is slicing stuff (food, cleaning small game, opening parcels, craftwork) easily with minimal hand fatigue and a fine tip gives me precision and control. For heavier tasks and even whittling, notching, carving I switch to my belt knife and for even heavier tasks I have dedicated choppers (if you see me trying to chop stuff with a short fixed blade having a blade length of less than 7 inches much less a folder, well I've been kidnapped and this is a cry for help 🙃) Trying to do it all with a folder means the design can't really excel at any specific task. Just my two cents.
😂 "... I've been kidnapped and this is a cry for help"
you could just carry an inoffensive delica or something in your front pocket for cutting boxes, strings, tape, etc. And carry an Espada large or something in your waste band for life-saving cuts. Just a thought, but that's just what I do.
My dream is to work at blade hq I love knives more than anything.
From the moment I heard Jarrito my comment was going to be "Tamarind" but you cleaned it up at the end when you said either that or tamarind.
The can test was legit. You might lose your P38. For the yonkers out there it was a can opener that came with c-rats while before my time my grandads and dad swore by them and I inherited mine from gramps.
Nice thumbnail. Benchmade Adamas is my edc
Cool test. I wish I lived there so I could come get those knives.
Don't worry, we're running a giveaway here in the comments too! Check out the pinned comment to learn more.
Demko AD20.5 smooth titanium. Fidget / weight / size / steel etc. for budget I love my Civivi Praxis.
The civivi conspirator is awesome, and my EDC. That being said if I was going camping I would take a fixed knife.
Joe X just destruction tested a 2.5 ounce, 3" Cold Steel Verdict and it surprised me with its toughness. I guess in a pinch i could open a can of beans with it, although its the wrong tool for the job. $52 average street price.
If you're going to put some major hard use on the blade, preferably a good fixed blade, but if you're going with a folding knife, go Cold Steel with Tri-Ad lock, if you're going light edc and or cool factor, Kershaw Launch series, Spyderco, yada yada.
I have carried the Adamas for two years and I can say I much prefer the larger knives for hard use at work. I abuse the crap out of the knives at work. Love the adamas.
Find most of my edc tasks are opening things and slicing things ad opposed to breaking metal so id go with lightweight
If you use the RAT1 fit the ferro rod it would work
i use to to carry lightweight then i wanted a fixed blade but it was to big for consealed carrie so in the end i got myself a coldsteel sr1 lite (wich is basically a fixed plade u can fold ) and god it is a beast you cant really destroy it with normal use/abuse but it wil destroy everythin you unleash it on love to have something that can deal with every problem i might run in to and more i never go light again
Realistic test. Put'em in your pockets. Witch one disappears better. Now squat down. Then go prone. Which is more comfortable if there's any difference?
I've got the 560-1 Freek in my pocket today. My 535-3 is in my edc bag.
2 dudes in a Honda buying zip ties and booze.
Don't forget the rabbit! -George
@@BladeHQ the rabbit ties it up
As a trades/woodsman, I really think none of this was particularly hard on a knife. With my benchmade freek, I've done everything from shucking clams and gutting striper to splitting wood and cutting wires. Tbh the bug out is for yuppies
I love both lightweight and heavyweight knifes I carry both but I prefer heavyweight I do a lot of dumb stuff with my knifes sometimes, they both never let me down lol heavy for everyday tasks
The Adamas is the PERFECT size,,,,💥💥💥👍😎
Yea not driving to Pleasant Grove Utah as much as I'd love a couple of slightly abused knives. 😊
I have a very basic question you'll probably be asked about any day. Looking for a strong utility knive, a budget of about 200€ and yes, € wich means no auto folders, not looking for a stabby stabby knive. For now i was looking at a cleaver, gerber fastball cleaver is the one i found, any thoughts?
I actually like both heavy bulky knifes and smaller edc light carry’s.Iam allways switching. For my light i carry a kershaw leek and for my heavy i carry an sog seal xr plane edge.
Why pick? One of each is what I always say(or 3 maybe 4)
I’m not Rambo and like a lighter carry that still does some daily garbage. That said Manix 2’s are on my dream list
You don't have to open a knife to open a bottle.. if I see you at blade I'll show you lol
Man, you guys live in such a beautiful place
We love our beehive state! 🐝
I own a para 3 lw spy27 it’s the best edc ever I had a spring broke on my 940 and it was to thick of a blade I loved the bugout but the ergos weren’t there and I cracked the tip to thin para 3 is by far best edc if you have a full size knife to compliment it
I mean my preference is something in-between by no means is a pm2 a lightweight knife when it has scales but i wouldn't say its a hard use knife either im happy carrying my zaan
if I start driving now I can be at 40°21'47.0"N 111°43'15.3"W in 22 hours and 26 minutes...blessings on whoever is lucky enough to get the knives...darn.
I definitely prefer the weight and feel of heavier duty knives, but the drawback is that I've got to wear pants with heavy duty pockets to accommodate the knife.
Anderson Park, wish I was in usa right now :p
You two nerds have obviously never opened a beer with a knife 😂😂😂
14 and 15 seconds in, that big thing he pulls out…🥵🔥🔥. Size dose matter.
If only 1 item is allowed, it would be a multitool, not a knife. A Surge. If it must be a knife, it would be 4 MaxScout. But i admit, light knifes showned were impressive. Probably because the quality and prices were pretty high.
Of the knives you have id pick the manix
Right now my current EDC is:
- SOG Seal FX clip point fixed blade
- Benchmade Phaeton OTF drop point
I actually just got the Benchmade a few weeks ago and was pretty excited to find it for under $400 (although it wasn't all that much under 400)
Fun fact: Bugouts are pretty baton-able. The Adamas would have failed every 2 or 3 hits. Hard test vid about it on my channel.
You can do anything with a big knife that you can with a small one! Sure it's a bit heavier, but that's a small price to pay for salvatio- I mean durability (Thanos approved)
Eastbound and down. Jump in the modern day Smokey and the bandit mobile. We’re in Utah. That’s a minivan with a rod knock. Coordinates locked in. Stop by adventure’s first stop to get supplies needed.
Did you find it?
I did not make it out to look. I did plumbing instead.
I’m sure someone did, and they are extremely happy.
Lightweight edc (Elementum all day), heavyweight fixed blade.
I like heavy because of the uses
I prefer having a nice comfortable weight in my pocket so I'm on the heavyweight side
Lightweight is the way to go if your edc load out consist of more than just a knife.
Also in the summer, lightwieght is easier to carry in athletic style pants/shorts.
I prefer heavy weight knives because they just have the large cool factor. But honestly light weight would do the job for me as well lol
I like this video but I’ve started fires multiple times with my bug out
