Down to steak, eggs, salt, black coffee and iced tea. Still had joint pain so I gave up coffee and the rheumatoid arthritis receded. I replaced my coffee with a cup of hot chicken or beef broth.
I have been worried about your absence, Max. Welcome back. Bone broth with butter took care of my coffee habit. A little vinegar in carbonated mineral water took care of my soda habit.
Carnivore changed my entire feeling towards coffee in the mornings. I drank it black on keto but when I switched to red meat, the effects of the caffeine in the morning would get increasingly intense to where I barely take a sip or two if I ever do have coffee
Today I roasted two trays of oxtail and then pressure cooked it in water. I have removed the gorgeously delicious meat from the bones for use later. I then strained off three pints of succulent bone broth. I drank a cup tonight (YUM!) and have frozen the rest in cubes for further drinks.
We enjoy our coffee, and we have a lovely coffee machine and grinder, and we’re reluctant to give it up, despite the negatives. We haven’t had milk for years, but rather have enjoyed cream in our coffee, or black. Our mornings used to start off with a bulletproof coffee (double shot espresso, 20g unsalted butter, 20g cream, 5-10g MCT per serve), and any other coffees throughout the day either black, or with approx 20g cream. Well, we’ve finally dropped the cream (in coffee - we make Kiltz’s ice cream about once a week [600ml pure cream, 4 egg yolks, 1 tbsp vanilla, 1/4 tsp salt]). Now I just add butter and sometimes MCT, and use the steaming wand from the coffee machine…comes out great! Other than that, we drink water, either plain or carbonated with Sodastream.
I drink a good quality Milk Kefir, have been planning on making it myself again. I’ll have the occasional kombucha or soda water, usually just water from our soda stream, I may drop in a little fresh lemon or lime, but usually just plain. Love the bone broth, expensive buying good quality broth only made on bones etc but good and easy to make your own. Thanks.

Hey Max! Thanks for video! What about roasted chicory root as a coffee substitute? Have you read or experienced its effects? It is usually calming, but is very stimulating for me and my hubby and has kept us awake at bedtime. Food for thought. Thanks again!
I recently noticed every day I had a low-grade stomachache. I decided to give up decaffeinated coffee for a while. Lo and behold, the stomachaches went away. Now I really like soda water over ice with a chocolate caramel electrolyte powder and a bit of cream mixed in or just ice water with a small amount of flavored electrolytes (sorry, I’m not a big fan of just water). Although the chocolate caramel drink is my favorite, I do have to limit these as the calories from the cream can add up and affect my progress.
I had a terrible energy drink and ice cream addiction. 3 weeks into carnivore and down 20 pounds. I have essentially switched that wicked combo for a new one...Coffee with heavy whipping cream (Organic Cream and Gellan Gum the only 2 ingredients )with organic 100% pure Stevia to sweeten it. This is functioning as my vice, until i get deeper into this diet until i get comfortable to ween it down, or remove completely. I also, can not drink black coffee.
I did 3 days of black coffee and it took all joy from my life. 😢😂 But I have had to change what i’m drinking from time to time when it doesn’t agree with me. Full fat or cream all the way.
Thank you again, Max. Another informative video. My issue right now is drinking too much sparkling water...or just water. I drink between 2 and 3 liters a day, not because I'm so thirsty but because it tastes so damned good to me. I think it's washing me out and I pee like once an hour.
Yeah , you are an old grumpy man . However it is not about age but rather about tolerance which goes away when you stop drinking regularly . I finally found that pure black coffee significantly raises my blood glucose. Took me some years, but now it's clear. No idea if my insulin goes up as well.
I agree the pasteurization process (not forgetting the homogenisation) is bad but if you put milk in a hot drink like coffee then you're heating the raw milk in anyways. Maybe not as intense but still. If you just put salt on meats thst won't cover the other electrolytes. It'll just mean that you're getting lots of sodium but not great amounts of other electrolytes mainly magnesium.
The human body can’t live without salt (sodium). If we lived in “nature” we would get all we needed from natural mineral springs. Consuming a good quality Celtic sea salt or Redmonds Salt helps replenish sodium in our bodies, and eating sufficient meat on a carnivore diet supplies all the other electrolytes, If you were deficient in potassium or other electrolytes your body would have obvious issues and signs. If you don’t have signs of mineral deficiencies then you’re not short on electrolytes, we don’t actually need very much. Same with vitamin C, eating enough meat stimulates the body to produce vitamin C in-house. You don’t need a supplement. Vegetarians are forced to eat their vitamin C as plants do not stimulate the body’s own production. It’s the same thing with electrolytes, we don’t need supplements, our bodies convert it for us. Don’t get brainwashed by the Carnivore or Fitness Industry, it’s poor advice in order to move their product 😊
