The fact that even Cilic couldn't hit through the court tells you how heavy and slow the conditions were. Great performance by Ruud considering that it's his first time going this deep at FO but he was definitely the favorite considering the conditions and obviously because it's clay
That’s actually not quite true, the conditions also hurt Ruud as his spin didn’t really get uncomfortable for Cilic due to the slow bounce. Nadal himself said in his press conference today that these slow and heavy conditions favour big hitters and hurt true clay courters like himself
@@anustart-loveeachother7680 no the heavy conditions should help your topspin I think because in high humidity the ball absorbs moisture and the fuzz "interacts" with the air more and encounters more drag i.e. the ball should have more rpm. The top spin doesn't necessarily make the ball bounce higher because that's up to the court which in cooler conditions will lower the bounce but the greater drag does slow things down because of how the ball aerodynamically interacts with the air

@@Jzz0007 Yes, Rudd can do the unthinkable because at the moment it’s about how Rafa is feeling on that day. He’s not gonna play like his 2012-13 self every match like he played against Novak.
6 min recap? What did I do to deserve this
Ahahahah
Happy to see someone from Norway in a Grand Slam final!
I'm suddenly aware of how from 2016-2022, every year has produced new grand slam finalists.
2016: Raonic
2017: Anderson
2018: Thiem
2019: Medvedev
2020: Zverev
2021: Tsitsipas, Berrettini
2022: Ruud
@@jaisharma5201 Yep and they all lost. Unfortunately I think Casper will also.
@@jaisharma5201 They all lost their first final, and I don't expect that to change on Sunday.
It’s better than WTA where every grand slam we have a new champion 😁
@@robertservant1936 not Medvedev in 2021
Ruud is the guy everyone wants to have as a friend.
Fun but sad fact: This match was in 4 sets and used 2 hours and 55 minutes. Another Rafa vs Sascha match, two sets weren't over but it was already over 3 hours. Anyway, hope we will see a high-quality final and Sascha comes back healthily.
I like Ruud a lot, but his game is very comfortable for Rafa on clay so I don't see him beating the king of clay in the finals. That being said, what a great character person. I remember when Kyrgios made fun of him saying nobody knew who Ruud was. Well Ruud is now in the finals of a major and a solid top 10 player. Where is Kyrgios lol?
So happy for Casper! He seems like one of the nicest played on the tour. Humble, passionate and always respecting his opponents. Not to forget clay is his natural surface. Will be a good match Vs Nadal. Of course Nadal goes into the match with a big big edge. But well, anything can happen on a good day’s tennis.
FINALLY A GREAT HANDSHAKE. CHAPEAU MARIN YOU’RE A BIG SPORTSMAN
Ruud is a phenomenal person and a phenomenal player.👍👍👍
Omg.. are you gay?🙄😒
This is the biggest moment in Norwegian sports since Karsten Warholm's WR at the men's 400 meter hurdles.
@Matej Juhás Yeah, you can include those.
Feel it deeply for Marin....I was sure he was gonna do soo well...onwards now Marin . .you know you are capable..💖💖 You did yourself proud getting to this point..
Calm, cool and ON TO THE FINAL!!! CONGRATULATIONS CASPAR 👏👏. Great tournament for Cilic, too
Wow this casper ruud guy was never on my radar. Cant believe he made it to the finals! Congratulations!
I hope you win Casper ruud! May the force be with you!!👍🏽
Hope? Against Nadal?
Congrats to Ruud for his first GS final, what a tournament for him! Best of luck in the final ! Congrats also to Cilic for performing so well and reaching semis.
Ruud and Alcaraz are the real future in tennis! I hope tommorow Ruud will beat Nadal in Roland Garros final! Congrats Ruud for the semi final with Cilic.
🤣
Good to see proper highlights on the RG channel at last! Please make them longer from the first round next year.
Well played by Ruud, he played a lot of backhands :) Surely that will also be the case in the final. I think Nadal won’t give him a chance but let’s see. Hoping for a good match.
For information ruud is firing 16 aces in this match to cilic's 10 aces, which is pretty impressive considering cilic has a good serve
Great tennis players and even more humble as people. Joy to watch them
Love Casper's fight! Would have been so easy to give up on some of those long points---Cilic's attacks are excellent. Impressive!
I love how both Cilic and Ruud made this look like a hardcourt match with their flat clean groundstrokes. Ruud definitely has a future. Lets see how many sets he can take off Nadal in the final.
Ruud - flat - ???
Ruud has some of the highest RPMs. Cilic also has decently high RPMs.
I admit. Rudd is pretty consistent appearing QF, SF, even in Finals. Good luck to him. Im a Rafa fan tho.🙏💪
That's disgusting. Why would you support that nasty ass scratcher?
@@azazello1784 You're negativity is not welcome. Get a life.👊😂
I agree, Ruud can be very dangerous in the final
Casper is up there with Alcatraz as two of the best Clay Court players after Rafa. The fact that he hasn't played Rafa before might turn out to be a blessing for Casper. He has won more matches on Clay than any other player on tour in the last 12 months, and is ranked no 7 or 8 in the world. I can see him winning his first Slam on Sunday if he plays at his best.. Rafa's only chance is winning in straight sets. If the match stretches on to 5 sets, Ruud will wear Rafa down. Wishing him good luck.
Casper playing solid tennis.
Ruud is super solid and has no obvious weakness. It will be a tough final for Nadal as Ruud can wear him down in 5 sets.
😂 no obvious weakness!!!
never doubt the GOAT
Congrats to Ruud for reaching the finals. He is starting to be one of my fav players because he’s so humble and a very nice guy. I don’t think he’ll win against Nadal but I hope he can at least play his best tennis
Remember few months ago when so many people commented Cilic is far past his times and dont know when to retire? What a great run for him. Got to love Ruud tho, didnt expect him in the final as well
For both: hard work pays off.
As the only Norwegian to pick up a tennis racquet, this is no small achievement.
Casper is already a winner - no matter what happen in the final!
A dream come true and Casper Ruud up where he belongs, meeting his idol in the final. Nadal is the King of Clay and Roland-Garros, and has a throne to lose.
But how could he, Rafa? He's not only the King of Clay, but of Tennis, and Casper has to humbly admit that it still is a way to go.
The clash of the gents 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
So happy for Ruud 👏👏👏. This is a dream final for me.
Cannot wait for the final between Nadal and Ruud! Come on!! 🇳🇴 Vs 🇪🇸💪🎾
This guy has something unique in his game!!!He adapts himself to the rhythm of the game and discovers during each match how to come around any difficulty!!Plus he is in much better shape than anyone else!!
It's good to have a class act topping all the grunting fistpumpers. I can't see him defeat the godfather of grunting fistpumpers though.
6 MINUTES HIGHLIGHTS FROM ROLAND GARROS? GOOD LORD WHATS HAPPENING
It's going to make a fascinating final. Casper in Ruud health, vs a rather knackered Nadal.
@Rafa undisputed Goat Rafa is an old man now. His strength was in his hair, which he has lost most of. Hopefully, out of respect for his elders, Ruud doesn't defeat him too badly.
@@noname0858 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 LOL salty djokcovid supporter, unfortunately the old man thrashed the young Norwegian
too bad Rafa felt bad and gave Ruud 6 games, cheers to the Spanish bull, THE GOAT OF TENNIS💪
Go Casper! Love from the 🇺🇲!
Rudd is a fast and strong hitter ,
Nadal needs to slow things down .
nadal still demolished him lol
He will be maybe the biggest underdog in history tomorrow....I better bet on him look what happened at the Kentucky derby
Cilic sure had a great run. Good luck to Casper in the finals against the King of Clay!
Casper has never played Rafael before. He is playing him in one of the sports greatest arenas and in a final. He has his work cut out for him. Many congrats!
Ruud vs Nadal
Master vs apprentice
Jedi vs Padwan
Marin Cilic:
US Open 2014 champion
Wimbledon 2017 finalist
Australian Open 2018 finalist
French Open 2022 semifinal
shows what an amazing allrounder he is!
Casper went pro in 2017.... He is still young, but improves EVERY year. been following him for 5 years! He is the most humble, respectful guy!!! A really likable guy who will win slams. Maybe not this time, but he is only 23....

Two thumbs for Ruud....his play with patient & looking mature👍
Why is the crowd so empty??
Nadal-Ruud is going to be an UNBELIEVABLE final. Rafa is my God, but I'm feeling very nervous about this match.
i been watching ruud all year. he is more than capable of beating nadal if nadal is a little off.but i see rafa winning but it wont be easy
Finally. Can see the handshake. Keep up!
Ruud is so quick on his feet
A highly well deserved win!
Bro your first Grand Slam final being against Nadal in Roland Garros has to be such a paradoxal thing. You are really happy but also well aware of the almost impossible match you gotta play. Good for him but man Nadal in Paris has to be painfull.
what a crazy match! hope the final is gonna be an epic match too!!
Very nice match, Casper Ruud playing very well, I enjoyed watching both.
Marin Cilic is a very good player too.
Casper Ruud is underrated
Ruud is now the top5 players in clay court, he will be in ATP top4 ranking soon! Congrats to Cilic, he is now the best form since 2017-2018, I hope he will be the Wimbledon Champion.
Ruud very consistent with some killer shots and great serve, excellent player !! Cilic very known already.. he is doing his best to get one kind of trophy that a couple of guys have about 20. His toss rhythm is weird, square back hand preparation..Better avoid his fore hand. What is Bigger them himself? His commitment and determination.
@Rafa undisputed Goatonly injury can do that !! And he is showing some signs of that..
@@LeonardoCostaUSA the only injury that rafa is having is that he didn't win 6-0 6-0 6-0 🤣
@@karthikramachandran7134 Well, he got injury on his foot 🦶🏻he played with injection in it.
@@LeonardoCostaUSA yes but even with the injury, nadal could have easily beaten the inexperienced Ruud. Nadal is a warrior, don't underestimate his fighting abilities.
However, unfortunately I do suspect that Nadal's injury will worsen to the point where he won't be able to play in the near future.
@@karthikramachandran7134 oh yeah 👍🏻
For the last 15 years these matches have been a side show to the three titans of the sport. Lets see if Ruud can slay the Dragon
Thank you cilic for amazing tournament
Casper looks like he is calm and in shape. Going to be interesting on Sunday💪
I believe Ruud will play the match of his life, take Rafa to 5 sets. After that, it's anybody's match. He's going to be a toucher opponent than Zverev was, because he's way more consistent, will not give Rafa free points, plus he's very fit.
I think you mean tougher?I have to say Rafa didn't play close to his average yesterday , unfortunately Sascha got injured, otherwise it will be a toss up.
But you never know which Rafa will show up in the finals, maybe a couple of painkillers then he is good to go ,and he will take the match as his last of his career.I just jope Ruud won't crumble mentally in the finals ,and wish no one get hurts again.
I agree he will make less mistakes but he will not go for his shots also which will give Nadal high balls ..he won't be serving many double faults though that's for sure .
Nadal used 30% strength against Zverev actually
Congratulations to Cilic for a great run. Hope you keep performing like this. Great match, great win for Ruud! Excited for the final!
Casper!
An amazing player! ......
This man has played at least the semi finals of every Grand Slam!
