The Greatest Women Tennis player ever to grace the Game, her dominance on court was greater than that of graf and Williams.

Muy cierto la efectividad de seles antes de los 19 años la hizo dominar el circuito a voluntad entre 1990 y principio de 1993

      @@user-hp5dv1vn9iNo, that is not true.
In 1990 Steffi was the dominant player - she had a bigger lead in the WTA ranking at year‘s end than Seles ever had in 1991-93.
Seles was indeed dominant in 1991/92, her 2 best years ever. Yet she lost 11 matches (Steffi for instance only 5 in 1988/89 and 6 in 1995/96). Even more - she lost 3 of 4 matches against Steffi, lost twice against a 15-year-old, even 3 times against a 34/35-year-old.
In 1993 she won the AO but couldn‘t prevent Steffi from coming closer and closer in ranking points (this is the reason why Steffi became #1 again just 5 weeks after stabbing).

How can you not love Monica? Yes, she was a fantastic player, and more than likely wd have won the most GS titles. The stabbing missed by a hairsbreadth from killing her, but the psychological impact was deadly. She struggled for years with that, and other problems, like her mother's illness, her father's death, and the callousness of her fellow players. Graf visited her only once in hospital, and none of the other players, except Sabatini, voted for her to keep a protected ranking till she recovered. She struggled with fear, loss of confidence, and battles with her weight. From being a bright, warm, bubbly person, she virtually became a recluse.
I met her on the street one day a few years after she returned to the tour, when you wd have imagined she wd wary of strangers approaching her, and she couldn't have been nicer, and more approachable.
I admire her so much for not being bitter, or self pitying, but instead finding other ways to help and encourage kids, not just in tennis, but also with what life throws at you.

Nice PR piece. The reality is, Seles was not a "harisbreadth" from dying...where do you people get this stuff? She was hospitalized one night, and left Germany the following day to return to the states. She could have resumed playing within 3 months. She chose to take off for 2 years. In which time, she got out of shape and overweight, and her results after returning showed this. Contrast that with Petra Kvitova, who was violently attacked in her home, sustained a career-threatening injury to her hand but was back on court in 7 months and playing to this day. And not sure how throwing shade at other players who didn't drop everything to be at Seles' side is relevant. You seem to forget that Monica Seles was not widely liked by fans or peers when she burst on the scene...she was aloof to other players, and the grunting was viewed as a form of gamesmanship, ergo the gruntless1992 Wimbledon final, which proved beyond doubt that she could turn it on and off like flipping a switch. It's nice to be a fan, but get real.

Even in her peak years 1991/92 Seles usually lost against Steffi.
And that was a Steffi in some of her weakest years…

Never understood how a player with such an ugly game could have any fans outside of Serbia.
This rat‘s face and this shrieking were the icing on the cake.
Well, some people just like ugly.

worst thing to even happen on a tennis court in 1993 to this women. i was always a fan since she came on the scene in the late 80's and always rooted for her. too bad she was never able to play at the level she was before the stabbing.

The greatest tennis ever. Male or female greater than Novak the undisputed King of tennis 👑
Love both. Funny how the two greatest tennis players of all time both come from a small country like Yugoslavia or Serbia ❤. Before it was destroyed by the west.
