    Another great video, Bas! It's amazing how you treat a lot of concepts (some of them advanced ones) always with pratical and really useful examples hacking limited Power BI native options. You could make more videos about these amazing capabilities of calculation groups.

      so nice to hear, thx a lot! got a few already, but pretty sure I'll need them for some future hacks haha 😄

    Love this Bas...One of the reason's I loved qlikview was that almost EVERY piece had "formatting" options and HIDE/SHOW type functionality so you could get as creative as you wanted with this kind of stuff. Nice to see PBI starting to get more and more options like this...even if it's sometimes a pain to do all the workarounds.

    Awesome content - I love how you touched on a variety of concept points. For example, I have no experience with the Tabular Editor, so now know to investigate further.

    Awesome video. I just started working with Tabular Editor and calculation groups but only used these groups in matrix tables. The options are actually endless. Thank you for the insights!

    15:57 There is no such function as SELECTEDFORMATSTRING. The correct function is SELECTEDMEASUREFORMATSTRING. The overall video is really awesome. The reason I've found the issue is because I've tried to do all the steps to get this great visualization. Thanks Bas!

    Seems like a huge work around. If seen similar done in Tableau with much neater solutions. In an enterprise setting using w3rd party addins and supporting/documenting this type of workaround is a nightmare. Really would push you to request Power BI to add this as a feature in a future release. You skills aren’t in question:)

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  2 роки тому +1

      100% agree, should be way easier - in tableau its just drag drop a field on labels. haha I'm flattered by how much you think Microsoft would listen to me? 😆😂 (the request for measure driven data labels is there since 2019)

    I have been implementing all your ideas in my work lately, thank you so much! but i have a slight problem, as im comparing actual vs last 12 month finance cost, sometimes the % difference is divided by -123/-456 and it is giving one negative sign in the visual. Can you explain further what does the double quotation do in the formula where you applied """"&Format(Pct,"0%"). I tried different ways but still couldn't eliminate the extra negative sign.

  • @rob123456hawke
    @rob123456hawke 2 роки тому +1

    Hi bas, have you found a way to introduce a line break in the formatting expression? I would love to place two values. Eg first line the absolute amount, second line the yoy difference, etc.

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  2 роки тому +1

      I tried different things like play around with unichart(10) and empty characters, but didn't manage so far. Let me know if you find a solution

    • @rob123456hawke
      @rob123456hawke 2 роки тому

      @@HowtoPowerBI yeah I tried unichar also incombination of 10 and 13 as well as putting a line break in a variable. nothing worked ... I guess it makes sense. We are already kind of "abusing" the format string. I can't think of a true format string that would ever include a new line. Hopefully, Microsoft will simply add measure driven data labels out of the box and then I'm sure we'll be able to add a line break as well.

    Hi Bas, great stuff as always! The only downside to this solution might be the tooltips being confusing due to the layering of measures. We could apply custom page tooltips I guess but I was wondering if you have any magic up your sleeves in that regard :) Thanks for content!

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you Adam! 😊 yea, I was not paying attention to the tooltip here. I think custom tooltip is the way to go (or turning the tooltip off)

    Replique lo hecho pero al momento de activar el filtro de la etiqueta de datos en el visual no me muestra el porcentaje. A que se debe?

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  2 роки тому

      verifique dos veces la fórmula para la expresión de formato (tal vez haya un error en la condición lógica / declaración if) ... si no puede encontrar el error, devuelva algo simple primero como "prueba" y vea si cambia las etiquetas. Si es así, sabrá que es un error en la fórmula. Si no devuelve "prueba" en las etiquetas, entonces no aplicó el elemento de cálculo correctamente en el panel de filtro

      @@HowtoPowerBI thanks for responding, doesn't look like I can add an image, it basically looks like a Gantt chart with a target line as the water level, There are 6 levels and we would only see the benefit when we enter the last stage, after time more things will start to emerge above the waterline. Sorry it's hard to explain, no problem if you haven't seen or heard of one, first time I saw one but not willing to pay a contractor 😁
