As usual, your set skill is endless! I spend countless hours watching and practicing with your videos. I wish I had enough dashboards to develop to incorporate 1/4 of your awesome work!!!!
Hello! Greetings from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil! I've been learning for 6 months with your video contents about power BI and recommending it for other people in my neighborhood. Thanks for the content and great success!
I discovered your channel by chance (somehow the algorithm proposed one of your videos in my feed). I love your videos. Very well presented, very detailed. They're just fantastic!
Another fantastic (as always) tip! Your videos are eagerly awaited for the next episode of your favorite TV series. I am sure I will apply your tricks to my desktops.
Thank you for a great video. Slicers is always one of those things I struggle with visually on reports. Always a challenge to not make them just look bland and dull. This video helped a lot in terms of creative ideas.
Um. I wish I could give this video like 5 likes, one for each part. Mind blown. Hopefully Microsoft improves the tools available for the slicers without these workarounds, but in the meantime these are great, especially the tooltip idea towards the end.
:) ah thats nice! Indeed I still dont get how the selected value needs to always be black, even page and bookmark navigation can have different colors on selected state…
Thanks for another brilliant video, Bas! Here is a challenge for you: how to create a custom legend that fits on page if there are a large number of categories? Instead of having to click to show the rest of the hidden legend. This would be very useful if the report is shared as a PDF or on a big screen where the user cannot click to see the rest of the legend. Thank you!!
Great video, as always - and the first seconds speak from my heart! A tip for the disconnected table: create one with VALUES. When another category will be implemented, you don't have to maintain the manual input. Works just as fine.
@@HowtoPowerBI A little issue though, in "vertical slicer with custom check boxes" when I click the slicer twice, its own check boxes appear and custom check boxes go into background in PBI Desktop. Is that expected?
Thank you, for the video. Question: based on this example, what if I only want see as options: Animal Health, Pharma, Vaccines and take away/delete: Business Services and Eye Care
Always amazed at how you can use the limited tools available to come up with some nice looking solutions. No chiclet slicer love though? Would be interested to see what you could do with it.
Brilliant Idea Bro, Totally helpful video bro🥰, just waiting for all these to be provided as part of conditional formatting by Microsoft so that it saves a lot of time and adds more value to the tool
I think if they could somehow integrate the formatting options already available for bookmark/page navigator, it would already be a huge improvement but I won't keep my fingers crossed for that - it feels like native visual options have been neglected for a reason
When generating the department disc table, would it not make sense to do it from Power Query based on the actual dimension to make sure we do not miss new values? Irrespective of this, your videos are amazing!!
Great tricks over there There are some problems thought 1. The technique might not work well when a new item/department is added to the data later, at least for the alignment part 2. One needs many non-conected tables, one for each slicer I just hope Microsoft will hire you for one month to fix this issue and come back to us 😅
You could create the disconnected tables in Power Query by simply duplicating the DIM table and just choosing the column/s you need. That way it would stay current when the departments change.
Waiting for your reply.... I subscribed immediately after seeing one of your videos and couldnt stop referring your tips post that - 😎. I have a big question, if I get the answer I will feel lucky ??????? How to avoid the ADDITIONAL SPACES on the slicer box when we are showing it as a button ?????, It is really annoying when we have multiple slicer. Any tips on this will be a great help.... ?????????❓
This video is excellent master! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with the community. Can I ask you a question? I have a statement with a list of payments, each movement is associated to a document number, the problem is that the payments can be cancelled N amount of times and reapplied, either to the same doc or to another one. I would like to use Power Query to keep only the last odd (non) occurrence of the payments, but if the number of payments is even, discard them all. That is, if doc 1 had 1 payment, 1 cancellation and 1 payment again, only keep the third transaction, but if doc 2 had a payment and it was cancelled, but it was not paid again, discard all the payments of doc 2. Do you think you could help me? Thanks in advance for your time.
Hi sir there is challenging task from my client on the on new, old, recovers and lost customer...sir i can provide the data for u to prepare...the viedo

Awesome video like always, Bas! Huge inspiration. Hope Microsoft gives us more conditional formatting control in the base visuals, shapes etc.
I also hope for this Leon, but in the meantime….
Thank you for a great video. Slicers is always one of those things I struggle with visually on reports. Always a challenge to not make them just look bland and dull. This video helped a lot in terms of creative ideas.

Overlaying a picture with the custom legend won't work?
Loved the intro. My feeling exactly!
Every second of your video is a gem❤
Great video, as always - and the first seconds speak from my heart!

Thanks Pete :)
Awsome Bro, you are so great, definitly you take PBI to the next level... Excelents tricks, I have to apply them.
:) glad to hear this! Good luck
Lots of great tips. I have limited space so tend to use drop downs. It would be nice to see more tips for these but i guess it really is limited
Thanks Bas for these great ideas!
Thanks Maan!

Amazing trick 👌 👏 🙌 Best in the game. Thanks Bas
Thx Tosin! Much appreciated:)
Thanks for the learning, is there any way we can show "Select" instead of "All" in dropdown option of the slicer
Very professional design, loveit
Yey! Super happy to hear this!
@@HowtoPowerBI I use many of your tips to upgrade my report .please keep making tutorial.😃
@12:40 could you just add a table via DAX with ALL( dimDepartment[Department] ) ?
Yes that would be better
Always amazed at how you can use the limited tools available to come up with some nice looking solutions. No chiclet slicer love though? Would be interested to see what you could do with it.
Thx Peter, loads of clicking around… yeah, you are right- im using native visuals 99.9% of time as not everyone can use custom visuals
This guy is so ingenious.
Nice - thanks for sharing man!

Interesting thought, maybe indeed… thankfully there is usually a way to make it look “not horrible” i am 100% native visual guy
Ok

Did not know you could put uniocode chars in your measure if statement!!! I've been faffing around with conditional formatting all this time!
Unicode is life :)
Nice one Bas. Thanks for sharing 💥💥💥
17:50 still be better?! Great job!
Ну респект. Спасибо за контент.
Have there been any improvements to this in later versions? Seems a major oversight not to allow changing the select colour.
Still the same 🤭

Agree Yassir, it is more for static filters.. definitely it is not ideal but it maybe a solution in some cases… haha 😂 i like it here on UA-cam :)

Hi
Have you used the chiclet slicer? I much prefer it to the native slicer.
Agree not a big fan of custom visuals though…
AWESOME !!!
you can rename the column to a space character to also make it invisible in a table .

anyone knows how to change sequence in slicer?
in my case the biggest problem was there were many slicers needed on the page and they occupy a big part of space, so less for actual viz........
