BEST PORT IN THE UK??? Weymouth is SO MUCH MORE Than We Expected - Norwegian Prima Cruise
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2022
- We spent time in London prior to jumping on Norwegian Prima... but we are back in the UK in port! Technically we dock in Portland, which is an island on the Southern coast of England, but we take a double-decker bus into the town of Weymouth. Everyone has told us that the UK feels completely different outside of London and they were so right!
This port town is charming! Everything is in walking distance and there are kind local volunteers when you get off the bus who hand you a map and tell you where to go. Walking along the bay, we see the brightly colored buildings full of shops, restaurants, hotels and pubs. This is a seaside town for the UK residents as well as a port stop for cruise ships. So it has a great local vibe. We walk, we sit on the beach, we have some great food, we walk some more. It was a fantastic day in port!!

As a Brit, it's so nice to see you discover what we'd probably take for granted - this has totally opened my eyes to seeing my country through the eyes of a tourist - fantastic video!
didnt expect to see my home town on you tube out of no where.. highly recommend the place
Hello from America 🇺🇸
I have lived in 4 different countries the UK being one of them, each country has its beauty spots that is the wonderful fact of our planet. I worked in the port of Piraeus Greece for 7 years & watched huge cruise ships coming in & out with the glistening Mediterranean as a back drop. I flew into Heathrow last summer & saw the Thames' brown water glisten, I smiled as despite the contrast I love London & love the Thames regardless. Sitting at a pub on the river be it Chiswick, Richmond is a pleasure.
As a local it was fascinating seeing Weymouth from your perspective. Often we look past the good stuff but thanks for reminding us & hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.
You two are so lovely, enthusiastic & courteous. The world is a better place with you charming people in it. I hope you had a lovely time in the UK.
Well done to the two presenters for helping to promote my beautiful home town of Weymouth and Portland. Great presentation and very engaging to watch. Thank you.
Thanks guys. I live in Weymouth, so good to see you appreciating what we sometimes take for granted. Much love👊👊👊
I now live in Australia, I am in my 70's. Growing up in Nth Ireland my family had our summer holidays in Weymouth in the 50's and 60's. Great times!
I’m just devastated about the queen. I’ve been shaken up all day. What a loss. I can’t believe you guys where then when she was last at Buckingham Palace.
You guys are great to watch, both really great to watch on camera and you really absorb and take in your surroundings. I'm from the UK but your video has sold Weymouth to me. Excellent job, keep up the great work 👍
That short hair look is working girl!
I know, right? I love it, too 💜
Yes! I think it looks great!!!

I grew up on portland, one big playground when you're a kid. Could'nt ask for a better place to spend my childhood....i miss it a lot in the summer.
It would be an incredible place to live!
Loved Weymouth since 1953 when I was a baby. Been there numerous times especially with my wife Lin who I lost 4 years ago. Difficult to visit now. Been to all of the places you went to. The William Henry was our favourite for many years.
I’m a retired hairstylist and I saw the video on your hair a few weeks ago. I have worked with many women whom have had to shave their heads due to cancer treatments. I have cut their hair about four times in the weeks prior to them losing it and ultimately shaving it. I start them with a bit shorter than what they originally had and each week I take it shorter and shorter so that they can see and feel what they have to look forward to as their hair returns. Many women keep their hair short as it’s so easy to care for. I just wanted to tell you that your short hair looks beautiful on you. It make s your gorgeous eyes come alive. So rock that short hair and give up the wig[ugh). Your beautiful without it
Enjoy the rest of your trip ,Mary.
That is great how you bring them down gradually! The wig is officially gone now. You may see it again as we have videos recorded that haven’t posted yet, but no more!
I so agree with you & your heartfelt sentiments. I too think she looks pretty au natural.
@@EECCTravels I was under the impression that the food from the UK was not very nice is this true
@@MrCoxy38 that was the case in WWII when many Americans were stationed there and so it is what has been known in the US. But that’s definitely not the case anymore!!
I grew up in Weymouth, so glad you had fun, but come back as Britain has many amazing places to visit
I’m gonna come right out and say it. That short hair SUITS you!!!! You look incredible! ….and I’m a hairdresser!!!! You look so beautiful! Love all the stages of growing your hair back, you might fall in love with something new!♥️ you look amazing doll!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Agree!
Having an ice cream at the Seaside is as traditional as having fish and chips at the seaside for us Brits. Weymouth is gorgeous! I went last year for my birthday and had a fabulous time.
I was in England for an entire month in May and it was fantastic. I spent 10 days in Moreton-in-marsh, 11 days in Weymouth and 10 days in Windsor. I will be going back but this time for 3 months north in England and Scotland. 😃
Weymouth is my town of birth, I've spent 50 of my 60 years here, l am so pleased our American visitors like it here, hopefully more and more visitors from overseas come here to Britain 🇬🇧
Just a couple of things
1. It's perfectly acceptable to dip your chips in ketchup it isn't a wrong thing to do.
2. The prices you got your food for in Weymouth can easily be found in London when you're not in the Central tourist area. Those prices (in Weymouth) are actually more expensive than I pay in my local area in the suburbs of Greater London
Hi, I live in Weymouth and it’s a fabulous town. Not just for tourists, but a lovely place to raise a family. There’s loads of beaches, countryside and beautiful places to visit. Next time you come you need to go to the Nothe Fort. It’s a great bit of history 👍🏻
We absolutely loved it!!
i miss the days of the sea front arcades.. also bowlease is pretty nice, sandsfoot castle... but yeah radipole is defo a cant be missed opportunity although i like just kicking it at the swanery when passing through town
Your soooo lucky, i liv e in Bridgwater and so want to move to weymouth wish me luck,
@@ransomedavis2208 I hope you do too. You’re not too far away for the regular visit 💖
@@daveryandirect thankyou. no your right im about an hour and half away which is nothing when its your soul place is it👍
You are ROCKING the short hair! Love you guys!
I love the short hair. Love the video
Love how appreciative you both were for everything you tried, very humble and saw the beauty in everything ❤️ Weymouth is a beautiful beach, I live not far away, watching your video makes me want to visit more! Oh and us Brits love ketchup on chips, we have bottles in the house mainly for chips 🙂 great job on your video ❤️
Thanks for doing such a great report on Weymouth, I live in the middle of town and walk my dog on the beach about 4 times a week. You saw a few of the good bits but there’s loads more, in our opinion Weymouth is the best quality of life in the UK! Come back soon during your month trip! ❤ If you want to see Weymouth and Portland in big storms, check out my channel.
Love venturing With you guys. Y’all make us feel like we are right there with you. GOOD JOB
I love watching you two, your genuine reactions are an absolute pleasure. Glad you enjoyed your visit, hope to see you both here again! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Jason in the 70s Portland use to be a naval base , as a sea cadet in my teens we went on a Royal Navy Frigate called HMS Apollo where we spent the full day onboard working along side the naval ratings and officers, and we had great food onboard but oh boy did we have to earn it, can you imagine what that was like for a thirteen year old, I vowed when I grew up that I’d join the navy and guess what I did ! Yes you guessed it I joined the army instead,
Been to Weymouth a couple of times there's lots to explore lovely place 👍
Loving that you are letting your “freak flag fly” by embracing your short hair and not wearing a wig. You look GREAT Alisa!
Those wings must be incredible to impress an American like that!
Your short hair is absolutely beautiful, and you look absolutely gorgeous!! It’s very becoming on you and fits and frames tour face so well!! Just wanted to let you know this and to encourage to be the beautiful natural you that you are!!✨✨
The pub was a Wetherspoons famous for cheap beer and cheap food , one in almost every town and city
Portland is where much of the stone for important historical buildings comes from in England. The Victoria memorial outside Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s Cathedral are built of Portland stone - pretty much any big important white stone building is made from that stone.
Interesting 👍
I believe that stone from Portland was used for part of the United Nations building in New York. If you get chance there is a wonderful walk around the Island that takes in much of the old quarry workings.
Love your videos & awesome hair you rock it girl 🌸
You are rocking that short hair!!!!! You must be feeling great cuz you are glowing!!!!!!! So fun watching you both!!!!
Awe thank you 😊
My American Hubster liked the U.K. so much he now lives here with me and has become a Brit 👍🏻
Such a shame you didn't get to explore Portland. I live there over looking the port.
Portland is an amazing unique place with lovely coves and pirate grave yard to explore. There are thousands of cruise visitors missing out on so much on Portland .
I agree more should be done to allow the passengers to be at least aware of Portland uniqueness
Plenty of wetherspoons pubs in London...with same prices .....love Weymouth too ...great video x
So glad you're both enjoying your visit here to the UK, It's great to have you here!
I'm a shamed to say I've lived in the South of England my whole life but never been to Weymouth. Will definitely need to add it to the list. You guys should visit Cornwall in the future it's amazing
Nice one, guys. I'm in Poole (it's a big old town & port), just a little east of Weymouth. And tomato ketchup on chips, is OK with us Brits, as we all do it. :o)
Watching your videos on the uk and how much you seem to love it makes me smile 😃
I love this video so much. I grew up in Dorchester (next town along inland from Weymouth) and its so lovely seeing your reaction to it. So wholesome...absolutely adore you. Thank you for enjoying our beautiful country and sharing your experiences (your reaction to lunch in Wetherspoons was the best)
I'm from up North and I went on a couple of holidays to Weymouth and Poole as a kid, which probably seems weird to someone who lives near them lol! They were good holidays though! On the way back up North, I think from Poole, when getting a taxi to the train station, I have a vivid memory of a taxi driver recommending a place called Rockley for the year after. I was only 8 years old at the time but I always remembered the name conversation, and I just googled "Rockley" to confirm it is an actual place in Dorset, and I didn't just imagine that interaction 20 odd years ago haha! We never actually ended up going though - it was Blackpool every year after that!
I live in Dorset, you will more than welcome to live here. The county of Dorset is beautiful, very rural ❤
Now that your hair has grown out a little, I love it. It makes you look a lot younger and I bet so easy to deal with. Hope you keep it short.
Said it once and I'll say it again. Short hair is perfect for you. :) I'm enjoying following along on your NCL Prima Cruise. Very interesting !!!
I am loving this series of videos on the Prima! Alisa your hair looks fantastic short! Hubba Hubba ;)
Portland is by the way the only port on the south coast of England apart from Southampton and Dover which is deep enough to accommodate ships of this sort of size, so it's really good for local business and is likely to become more so. As a local I can tell you it's a great place. This vlogg doesn't even scratch the surface, but it's fun anyway!
The pub was a Wetherspoons which is a low cost chain. Much cheaper than in London. Your US equivalent would be Millers Ale House.
I love that you are rocking your hair! It looks great!!
So proud of you going out without your wig! You look gorgeous!!
I live in Weymouth and have to say, I love the video. It's nice to see Weymouth through a tourists eyes, so many things I just don't notice.
Your reaction to the 'sticks of rock' was hilarious, they're a thing at every seaside resort in the UK. I can't believe you don't have them overseas.
I'm from California and we have 'old fashioned candy sticks' which are like the ones they looked at but much smaller. I've seen them in several states.
They're not proper sticks of rock unless they have Weymouth written through them. Any seaside resort you buy rock in should have the name of that town written through it from end to end.😊
Hey there! I’ve never heard of your channel before, but I’m a Weymouth lad and thought I should watch.
Absolutely loved the video, watching you go through all these places and enjoying our town and beach has really brought a smile to my face. I’m so glad to see you’ve enjoyed my quaint tourist town and I’m so lucky to live here and see the beautiful views every day.
Love from Weymouth!
your so lucky im in somerset but plan on moving to weymouth.
So cute seeing people experience our coastal towns for the first time. Every coastal town in England has hundreds of ice cream shops. Also, there are wetherspoon pubs everywhere so look for those next time you're in London. Not sure who told you we don't have ketchup with chips but they were lying!
And don't forget the curry sauce on chips!
We are headed here on the Sun Princess for the Transatlantic Sailing for our Anniversary in SEP of 25. We can’t wait!
As a Brit it’s always good to see visitors thoughts on our great countryside. The reason your meal was so well priced was because it was a pub chain called Witherspoons. On your next visit look them up an save some money on your meals and drinks. If ever you are visiting Portsmouth drop me a message. We are always happy to show interesting places to visitors.
Love you guys and your travel experiences. Love the passion and just downright awe of your new surroundings. I spent a month in the great USA in my teens travelling from California to Colorado via the Grand Canyon. Into Ohio. St Louis . Washington. Virginia. Etc. ending in Florida. Basically a month traversing your great nation. Awesome. But that was 1987. And I was 16. With my folks. Lucky though I was to do that, I’d love to be able to do it again as an adult. Your travelogues are fantastic. Long May your travels continue, guys ..
The Cotswolds, Cornwall, The Lake District make sure you go outside London to see much more of how beautiful England can be. And dont get me started on going north of the border into Scotland.
Also, since they like old stuff - the city of Bath (for the Roman baths) and York (as it's a walled Roman city). And Warwick Castle, Oxford, Cambridge and Durham for cities with lots of beautiful old architecture.
I live about 25 miles from Weymouth, it's a nice place, a nice beach and the harbour, there is also a nice lake on the other side of town , lots of birds , and nice walks
You guys are having so much fun and I love your video’s. Jason really enjoys his wings. Keep enjoying life!
great video!! ty for sharing
I love the short hair. Wish I was brave enough to try the look myself.
Very interesting! You kept my attention from start to finish!
We have been waiting for this series to come out and you haven't disappointed us!! Great drone footage as a bonus!
Glad you’re enjoying them 😃
I love your video! It is informative and interesting without annoying background music that so many people put in! I’ll be in Portland Weymouth in April so this gave me loads of info. I have also subscribed. Thanks guys!
Wonderful how you are capturing the beauty of each place you visit.
Great video of your travels! I would like to do a cruise like that! Looks like and awesome time! Great to see what other great cruises there are to do, time for us to venture out to other places!
I've enjoyed many of your vlogs, but I think this was my all-time favorite! I felt like I was in Weymouth with you. Thanks!
Thank You for sharing you're experience of our town. Glad you had a nice time.
Nice sunglasses, 😊 and as a vinyl collector, loved the record shop interlude…
I just found your channel & am just loving it.I can’t wait to see more.❤️
Ketchup a no no? We Brits love it on our chips!
As always thank you for taking us along! I am so envious that you are experiencing the Prima.
Alisa you are glowing in this video and look great with your sassy short hair!
Hi im from the uk and weymouth is my favourite place! Also London is pricey ! And there are many places in England that are good to visit. So glad you are visiting somewhere else than London. Please come bk and visit Cornwall , Devon, York is awesome oldie world buildings that nearly touch each other ,lots of pubs and Gloucester is similar .Enjoy England 🇬🇧 💖love watching yr channel
I am so in love with your travels and the progression of your channel. So beautiful and just a good time exploring with you both. I was kind of skeptical about cruising to Europe but you have given me a little confidence and I am excited to get traveling.
Beautiful views!
Love the beaches, candy shop and other things
I love this video thanks for sharing! I grew up in Weymouth so it's so nice to see it from your perpective. And the review of your lunch at Wetherspoons was brilliant! Thanks guys
Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us!❤️👍🏻⚓️🛳🥳
I'm so pleased you enjoyed Weymouth, it is very charming in the summer, a bit quieter in winter, understandably. if you come back to Britain, there many many more charming and beautiful places along our coastline, try Lyme Regis, or Any coastline in Devonshire, its all wonderful.
I live in Bournemouth, just 30 miles from Weymouth, and I love the South Coast, but there's a great deal more inland, the New Forest with its charming towns and villages, soooo much for you guys to explore if you return here... 😊💚
Love the video and love your look without the wig!
Another beltin video, I enjoy watching you guys enjoying your time here 👍🏻
We adore Weymouth. Our September destination for a week. The pubs are wonderful and dog friendly. We use out bus passes to get to places such as Lyme Regis,Westbay,Poole,Swanage. They alsp have a Dog Friendly part of the beach which is great for our Gordon Setter.
Your always welcome to come back
Loving this series!! Also loving your hair, so pretty!
Glad you enjoyed my home town of Weymouth and Portland
Use to live there during my time in the Royal Navy, my daughter still lives in Dorchester and works at the local hospital, Portland now there is a name that brings back memories
Great video guys, I live in weymouth and it was great to see it through the eyes of others, have a good trip.
Mmmm a Pasty…yes please!
Love this video! Y’all remind me of my hubby & I when we travel. We are scheduled for Prima on 13th. Thanks for the preview.
Very pleased you enjoyed your time in our town! It’s easy to forget how fortunate we are to live in a beautiful place like Weymouth. Our 20 minute walk to town takes us along a secluded beach, a cliff top hiking path, a quiet little bay, those pretty old painted cottages and then the harbour. We love having visitors here! A couple of weeks ago I was in Amsterdam and the first local I spoke to at a pub had all these fond stories of the time he spent in Weymouth and Portland when he was in the navy - he said it’s one of his favourite places.
I'm really enjoying your videos. Very slick production and you guys are well researched. I was in Weymouth on a cruise in 2017 and it's quite a hidden gem. Lots of history and quirky things all in one place. Tried the local fish and chips at Fish n Fritz and it lived up to the image you have of a typical English fish and chip restaurant. Large portions of tasty food.
You were eating in a Weatherspoons - cheapest pub chain, not always good food but you get what you pay for. We live a 15 minute walk from the main sandy beach.
I am a local taxi and tour driver in Weymouth. I drove some people from your cruise to Stone Henge. I'm so glad that you found and enjoyed so much of my home town that alot of tourists never bother with. With more time and transportation to get about there are loads of other places to visit so come back soon
We just got back from spending the week in Portland and Weymouth and saw the cruise ship you guys were on!! Totally agree it's one of the nicest area's of the uk we've travelled so far, glad you too had a great time, fab video and hope you have a safe journey home! 😁
Looks like fun! I think we're going to add a cruise to our bucket list because of you two! We've never been!
You will love it!!
Awesome video, you captured our town really nicely. I live in Weymouth (hence the UA-cam name/channel), I love it here. Glad to have the cruise ships coming in. You are all welcome 🙂
Beautiful views!
Whoever edited this video did an amazing job!!
Love it! ❤️
Great to see you folks enjoyed the UK 🇬🇧
Oh yummy clotted cream is the best fudge ever
As a regular visitor to Weymouth I really enjoyed your video.. A really good insight from the visitors who have been to the town from the cruise ships that visit.
