Good morning everyone, thank you for joining me on the mat. Let's begin our day with ease by doing a little bit of yin yoga. This is a slow and sweet practice suitable for all experience levels with no props required. This will help you increase flexibility and each pose will be held for 2 minutes or so. I'll guide you through poses like deer, butterfly, wide legged forward fold and child's pose.

There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose
Find your edge means respecting your body's limits and not pushing too far and risking injury. Pull back a little bit and as you hold the pose you will be able to go deeper into it without pushing too far or hurting yourself.
Being still means that once you are in the pose it is important to completely relax your muscles so the benefits can get into the connective tissues and joints. Try not to fidget or move or distract yourself, this is a meditative practice. Breathe deeply in and out through the nose.
Holding the pose means that in Yin Yoga a pose can be held for 1-10 minutes depending on the pose performed and on the comfort level of the student. I usually teach poses held for around 4-5 minutes. Learn to surrender and keep a timer close by if needed.

Thank you so much Kassandra. I really love your (yin) yoga videos. Its been a while since I did yoga because I have been struggeling with addiction and chronic pain thats truly disabling. Today I tried this class again after months of not doing any yoga. It felt incredible and I cried just from finally listening to my body again. Thank you for your amazing videos Kassandra. I promise I will follow along to your videos more often as they are truly healing. My affirmation for today was "I am stronger than my addiction and I am LOVED"
I normally shy away from yin yoga as it’s not my preferred form of movement but today, on a gloomy rainy sad day as I’m heartbroken and couldn’t get up to do my usual flexibility flow yoga, I gave this video a chance and it was restorative calming and helped me feel like I’m being kind and gentle to myself. This was EXACTLY what I needed today. The affirmation card that you picked at random was precisely what I needed to hear. I have had a horrible cold for over a week, plus ongoing sacroiliac joint pain, and some family and work stress. I woke up feeling mentally and physically unwell. I knew that if I could just drag myself to my mat and do one of your practices, I would feel much better for it. And I do. I am so fortunate and blessed that my natural state is wellness; there are so many who are not lucky enough to be able to say this. Thanks SO much for reminding me, Kassandra. This was awesome, Kassandra! I love this yin sequence. I had prepared my intention before the session so as not to feel put on the spot . I like that you left the suggestion till the end though and gave us the option to use the affirmation. I’m Aspie so like to either be prepared or be left to intuit my own word from the sequence without being asked to do it it while I’m focusing single mindedly on each pose. Not sure if this anything youd be interested in, but as a yoga teacher (just starting out) I’ve been trying to find a video with all the names in English, followed by Sanskrit with a demonstration of the pose (not even how to get into it- even just a picture). Something quick and easy with no fluff that I can play while driving to my other job or on my walks to cement the Sanskrit into my brain. I would get you to a million views with just myself alone 😌 but either way- blessings to you and thank you for your content!!! I draw so much inspiration from your flows because it’s what got me into yoga, and always direct students your way(:
