    Your machine is similar to the one i signed the check on, today know doubt, has what i call harmonics probably do to insufficient pre load on the bearings, With the quill locked some of that might go away. use the quill to drill, and the knee to feed z.

      I get hundreds of tiny metal slivers when machining so I was trying something out.

    bro, not trying to be a punk i watched all your videos of this mill, those chips are hot arent they,,, but you had pushed back in my chair when you wiped them with your hand and the spindle was still turning, I dont play safty nasi even at my house but that is a bad habit, that machine will molest your fingers like they were never yours, k, nuff said now your spindle noise , That machine prob need a bit of break in time on the bearings, for several reasons,1 being grease made of chewed crayons.
