Hey, I’m trying to send gift to my friend in Canada this Christmas but this is the first time I’m shipping a package. I wanted to ask, do they show you what kind of boxes they have at the postal office? I have all the other information, but I just don’t know if I can get a box directly from the postal office or if I have to get one myself. Loved the video, it was really helpful.
Usually most post office locations have boxes you can purchase. However, you may have to buy tape there too to seal your box and package. Another option could be to visit another store (Wal-Mart, etc.) and get a box and packing tape there because it might be cheaper that buying it at the post office.
Well after getting prices as high as $700+ to ship a 5.5lbs box to the UK from NYC... I now know to repackage it in 2 packages half and half! Amen... God bless America... I truly could take a few rounds trips to the UK for less than ups and FedEx. Smh!!! Thaaaaanks
the fact this video is even needed is insane. they overcomplicate the process so much, its nuts. my girlfriend lives in ireland and the shipping process literally is the biggest inhibitor of getting gifts over there
Great question! I recommend the Flat Rate shipping box up to 70 lbs. You can see it here: www.usps.com/international/priority-mail-international.htm. However, you may need to check if that country is impacted by deliveries or not. See International Service Alerts here: about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htm. It looks like Peru's latest update is this: about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/peru.htm I hope this helps you!
How much do you think it would cost to mail a gift weighing one pound or less from America to Britain? I’ve never shipped internationally before and this is the first helpful tutorial I’ve seen!
Honestly I’m not sure. You have to check with the USPS website and customs costs in Britain. Probably more than $20 I assume but I don’t know as international rates change at times.
Has your package made it to its destination I sent a package to my boyfriend back in Dec and it’s still in Los Angeles apparently it just made it through customs and back at international distribution hopefully it’s out now
Hey I Have a question, which package would be the best to send clothes to someone and how would I weigh it. Also what is the cheapest and fastest way to ship packages domestically. Also I love your video is was very helpful.
Hi Koumeng! My apologies on the delayed response. Domestically the USPS is often cheaper. For clothes, it depends on how many clothes and the weight of the item. You could pick up a product scale like this one to weigh it: amzn.to/34F5kAE For the envelope, you could use the flat rate boxes for larger quantities of clothes, but if it is just a shirt, maybe the flat rate envelope option or use a poly bag mailer that has a t-shirt size dimension like 10x13 inches or more. First Class Package Service should be affordable.
Hello quick question: I’m sending a few pares or earrings (under 4pounds) but don’t want to pay for priority shipping cause that’s wayyy too expensive. Could I get first class shipping and it be less?
I don't remember what my post office told me but I'm trying to send my bf and anniversary gift and he's in Canada and they gave me a estimate of like 15$
@@wolfgirlplays375 It could be more than $15, depending on the weight of your package. A lot of pricing comes down to package dimensions and weight, plus the destination country's policies.
Yes, you can. They will have to weigh the box there to calculate the cost. You could enter the dimensions and weight of your package using the USPS online calculator for an estimate. You will also need to label clearly the send and return address.
I’ve been trying to send something to Washington in a box but I’m still unclear how to check how much the shipping will be and how to check how much I’m able to send within the box
I know she said generally 6-10 business days for delivery. But my question is how long did it actually take for your parcel to be handed to your friend?
You will likely need a form for each box explaining the unique contents in each box. Things may have changed though since I made this video a while ago.
You could try “First Class Mail International” in an envelope. I found this on USPS: . “You can ship items up to 15.994 oz” with First Class Mail International.” If it weighs more than that and is less than 4 lbs (pounds), your next option is “First Class Package International Services.” You could use a padded envelope there or buy one cheaper at Walmart or another office supply store. @@avalanchecovers353 I just released more details on how to check pricing, size, etc. using the USPS website with English practice too: ua-cam.com/video/poowrCM4Y7U/v-deo.html
This might be a silly question, but if it's just a letter do I still need that From/To label? The envelope is quite small and addresses are clearly written on the envelope itself.
No need for the from/to label as long as you have the return and recipient address clearly written. They also have an international stamp you can buy for mailing international letters.
@@ESLWithPurpose thank you so much for replying! I’ll look into those stamps! I ended up just taking it to the post office to be sure, but I’d like to just mail from home so stamps would be great.

It is cheaper to do First Class Mail International. With priority or flat rate, you get the added benefit of tracking the package though and I think it is covered better.
It depends on the size of the box. The USPS does have boxes in their stores you can purchase, however they will not pack them for you or put things in it. You will be responsible for that. You could go to an office supply store like Office Depot or somewhere and buy a larger cardboard box for your needs. It may be cheaper that way.
Hello, Is it possible to send the same package internationally but using the first-class package shipping way? Because it said that the first-class shipping is a lot cheaper and will I just ask the usps employee for the shipping options? thanks
Good question. It might be cheaper to use first class, yet you may want to compare prices, depending on the country: www.usps.com/international/mail-shipping-services.htm#quickcompare
Hi Tommy thanks for watching. I am not sure how long it will take depending on U.S. customs and what service or company shipped the item. Do you have to list everything in the package specifically? For example, I'm trying to send clothing and unopened candy to a friend in Poland, and there are multiple packages of candy. Would I list the name of each package or no?
Hi, is it cheaper to pay for shipping specifically to Canada using first class mail or a flat rate padded envelope? specifically for an item that is less than 4 pounds.
Good question! According to the USPS site, the “first-class package international service” pricing options appear to be cheaper than the flat rate international pricing. See it here 👉www.usps.com/business/prices.htm and click on International Prices with the drop-down arrow. I hope this helps you! I don’t work for the post office, but answering these questions makes me feel that way. 🤣
Sorry I missed this question. I think any information you can provide for region, city, location in the native language and in English on the package will help. However, I'm not sure how the mail works in Colombia.

@@ESLWithPurpose thank you so so much🥹🫠 I sent my package a couple days ago successfully!! I appreciate your response 🙏
Do you have to list everything in the package specifically? For example, I'm trying to send clothing and unopened candy to a friend in Poland, and there are multiple packages of candy. Would I list the name of each package or no?
just say candy don’t have to list each candy
USPS = United States Postal Service
UPS = United Parcel Service
ESL With Purpose thank you so much 😊

Thank you 😊
You're welcome Hao Duong!
I'm trying to send a letter to Colombia but im not sure what to put for the address. Do i need the region or anything?
Sorry I missed this question. I think any information you can provide for region, city, location in the native language and in English on the package will help. However, I'm not sure how the mail works in Colombia.
Ok, you send it, but where is it gonna end? a fedex office in new zealand? a national postal service??? .-.
Good question. It depends on the country and customs laws of the destination. You can also track it with a tracking number. Go here to see the latest updates on international shipping 👉www.usps.com/international/
THANKS
Can you create the customs label online and drop off your package at one of those blue boxes at usps if it’s small?
I think it depends on the size of the package locations. Sometimes the USPS has signs on the blue box saying they do not take packages.
Most people would know this before the internet.
