    That's really awesome that you would show this side of your business even though it might create competition! I always like to see all the special tools people use to do their job. If i might suggest, it would be cool if you might show a few indepth tutorials down the line on how to repair carpet the right way and pointing out some of the common wrong ways people can do it. I'm not going to steal your secrets for profit I just think what you do is almost magic to the common person and that if I even run into a situation where I need to fix some carpet ill look back on your videos for help. Thank you for what you do carpet guys!!

      Thanks. I’ve uploaded hours of unedited content showing all techniques and process. Here’s one more in-depth with explanations for DIYers: ua-cam.com/video/ByVoCUTxpO0/v-deo.html

    Hi Josh, for seams on a concrete floor, the Gundlach 711 "Big Squeezy" carpet stretcher works great! It's a wonderful tool that holds the carpet in place and allows you to run the seamer right under it. I have 6 of them.

    I find that drilling the tac strips in and nailing in with aluminum 3/4 nails holds a lot better when working on concrete

    I started wearing steel/composite toe protecting work shoes as an alternative to hot heavy boots while out on the road flagging traffic closures. I now wear them daily and run into a few things [literally] every week where I'm glad I wear them!

    2:21 aka suicide knife. Crain top cutter is the standard one most guys use, also the Crain kicker is nicer to use. Crain and Roberts are the same company. I used a 3'' wide cold chisel instead of a stair chisel because I can chop concrete with it also. Too many concrete floors have snot on them in the edges. Can't do that with a stair tool. 6:00 aka porcupine tool.

    Missing a seamer down, and that little blunt nose Robert's 2 in 1 is the best row pin there is, I'm surprised you don't use it, well at least for new carpet anyways

    One tool that I am surprised you don't use is a hook knife. I use my hook knife all the time for all kinds of werid stuff. I think using a traditional seam iron is a bit more cost effective too whenever possible. The Kool Glide tape like you said is very expensive compared to traditional seam tape.

    • @carpetguy
      @carpetguy  6 місяців тому +2

      Yes, for installs, yes. Kool glide great for small repair work. I love my 5-in-1. It can do the work of a hook plus some but minus the cutting.

    • @Lance57H
      @Lance57H 6 місяців тому +1

      @@carpetguy that's true, you can do basically all the same things with the 5in1. Do you do any installation, or do you only do repairs? Very impressive what you're able to accomplish by the way, huge fan of your work!
