    Great job installing and using the power stretcher! For the veteran installers in the comments using knee kickers to get carpet in, keep up the great work. I love all the re-stretch jobs I get every week.

    Little tip from a layer in 🇦🇺kids!…
    In the corners,to stop it coming off the smooth edge (gripper) grab the corner,take your thumb to near the floor on the backing. Cut from your thumb to edge. Two angled lines. Forming a triangle. It’ll sit lovely and neat and stay tight!

    I've been a carpet installer for almost 40 years.... I've always used a knee kicker.... a power stretcher is overkill, especially in an average sized room.... there is such thing as overstretching a carpet which can lead to buckles down the road.... not to mention the lamination of the carpet.... if you know what you're doing with a knee kicker then you shouldn't have any problems..... I've never had anybody call me back to re-stretch their carpet

    • @stevensides88

    I am an English carpet fitter and everyone i ever met here that is a fitter uses a knee kicker but .... as i am now in my 50s i would advocate the use of a power stretcher from the off and get used to it as my body feels bashed up and i feel most of it is from using the kicker .Liked and subbed .

    Coffee is essential but with my wife looking over my shoulder telling me how to do it the job I would prefer a beer instead. Great video I'm a new subscriber now. This is more informative (and entertaining) than most of the others I've viewed. I do maintenance, fabrication, woodworking carpentry and handymanning on the side but I have never installed carpets (correctly). Now I think I can even build my own homemade carpet stretcher and kneekicker. Our carpet was white when we bought the house but after 20 years of dogs living with us no cleaning service or machine is up to the task, Now I am up to laying new and you helped me to be up to the task Chuck Wi

    Great tips, just started to watch videos to learn how to do this as I need to recarpet my whole double story house. 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, and some hallway floor space and a bit extra here and there carpet.
    Also I would like to let you know to please not play such loud music, it was hard to hear you and just annoying. I would prefer no music at all when you are talking. And then when you are showing the Timelapse without talking, I recommend some music but lower volume

    When trying carry the carpet in & get it in place by yourself roll it out flip the side almost in half where about an inch of the carpet is showing roll it up in the length which make the carpet approx 6 ft stand it straight up put your back against it & reach both hands over your shoulders grabbing the carpet slightly bend over & carry it in. Start it in the corner roll it out & flip it over....no scratches on walls & it will not cause wrinkles like you think. Plus you have a over stretcher anyways. Other than that rather than kicking around a room to tear carpet out cut it in aprox 4 ft wide strip it will easily pull up by hand & makes it easier to carry out & throw away!

  • @TheManorBeast
    @TheManorBeast Рік тому

    I've done this since I was 14. I'm now 46
    power stretchers are for areas in excess of 35sqm. This room is way too small
    You will over stretch it using it in smaller areas than is appropriate and break the fibres (if not actually tear it) which will cause buckles in the fabric and pull the lamination apart which holds the carpet together

    • @SteamBossInc
      @SteamBossInc  Рік тому

      With the amount of ripples I re stretch I’d say that may not be accurate! To each there own! You have complete control on how much pressure you are using to stretch you should never damage the carpet.

      @@SteamBossIncyou are a massive prick, anyone who has disagreed with your opinion on that room you’ve been incredibly condescending in your reply. And this particular comment is 100% accurate. The title says for beginners yet you have more than a beginner would have. Also I’m pretty sure you can’t literally say in your video that you could do the room with the kicker but just that you’re gonna use the stretcher because you have it…. You’ve been arguing with everyone in the comments who have said the same thing you literally said… lol good luck growing this channel with that kind of attitude.

Should have shown how to do it with knee stretcher, because you definitely can get a decent carpet laid in a room the size using one. This is a good video for people wanting to get in the trade, but kinda useless for me as someone who was doing one DIY
