Pro Tip: I’m really reluctant to share this secret. But as a young boy, my dad taught me a cool trick 45 years ago that helps make the patch almost invisible. Forget squares. Cut a circle ⭕️. Use a bowl a plate or a bucket depending on the size needed. The human eye is much less likely to see the outline of a circle than it is a square. Carefully cut the circle in the old carpet and the new patch using the same mold (I.e. the bowl). Use a sharp blade and never free-style your cuts or it will look an amateur did it. When you put the circle patch in, make sure that you line up the carpet’s fiber patterns. Finally, last touch- Rake it good and nobody will ever know that it was there. Good Luck.
Jacob did an awesome job for me in Troon North on a rental home I spilled paint on the carpet. Cleaned it up with Turpentine, and as an added bonus, steam cleaned the hallway, and stairs. Highly Recommend!
I just bought a brand new house y my chihuahua destroyed part of my carpet. I was so mad at him, but now that you have gave me all that I need to repair it myself I'm happy again. Thank you so much
If you use a pen, you could open up the grain of the carpet on two sides. Find where they open up, lay the pen very low and push it along and it will separate the pile of the carpet in a straight line making the cut to the carpets backing, while protecting the pile which would hide the repair much better.
Thx, nice video. I'm going to try that. I'm managing a small apt complex here. We just had a tenant move out....and they took the bedroom carpet with them (it still blows my mind)! So I'm replacing that. Thx again.
That is hilarious. Who does that? They ripped up the carpet and took it with them!?!?! That would make an awesome Judge Judy episode! I honestly can't stop laughing. They sound like some total tweakers! I'm sorry that happened to you but so appreciative you shared this story! Lol
This is a great video for people who are not in the carpet repair business. Using a standard iron to repair is something everyone has. I use a Kool glide iron that seams from the top of the carpet and does not get hot. You do want to make sure the fibers go in the same direction or it could appear somewhat off. Great video!
Video✅...The patch on the carpet i need to replace is from an iron burn 🔥. Any suggestions on iron's heat setting...Any iron alternatives?..any information/tips are much appreciated. Thank you lad to say that no one wasvp hysically affected by it but i can't wait to patch it up and mov want to beplacement patch. This is in the middle of the living room and there is no room for hiding mistakes/mishaps. is incident caused much disruotiwould like to fix it and see ny suggestions/ tips atr much appreciated.
I have some seams that my dog has found . I got him before it was totally torn. Can I just do the damp towel and iron part? The carpet has been down for years. Will doing what I said reinforce it? I have other seams that I see a little rise in too.
What does wear and tears look like or damaged carpet I keep cleaning this carpet with the portable and I know it’s clean but in the traffic lane discoloration comes back up when it’s dry
Nezello good question. Steam shampoo the carpet first. Make sure it’s a good company that can make ur carpet white again. Then go from there. All that’s left would be patching
I'm new to home improvement. One thing you did not talk about was cutting a new piece to fit the patch. How do you make it an exact fit? Can you please explain?
Unless someone else comes in to restretch the carpet later. If it's stretch in carpet you do not want it to bond with the pad. If it's on the subfloor with no pad then it would be fine to use double sided tape.
Go to a closet or area nobody knows or sees and cut a piece for matching carpet. Instead of the iron and big roll of tape you will only use once the patch can be adhered with some gorilla tape. Adhere the tape all around the hole you cut out and then just drop the patch in. Bigger areas? call this guy.
Glea Neeley you can replace that with any carpet. you can try to find one that matches at home depot but even if it dose not its ok. just find a spot that's not noticeable
You use the square you cut with the stain on it as your pattern to cut out the square in the closet.... so you can try to clean the stained piece as well as you can with cleaners that won't hurt the carpet and put the stained piece in the closet where you removed the clean piece. Should be the same size if you do it right.
Friendly suggestion: Consider a plug in timer for your heat lamp, they're very useful and can turn appliances on and off when you're asleep or away from the house
8 years later, and this guy has got to me my lifesaver. Thank you !!!
Thank you so much my guy!!!!
I watch so many videos and no one explain what the materials they are using. ❤❤❤
Sir,
You are a total boss!!! Thanks for the video my wife dripped an iron on the carpet and I have patched it using your technique 100% impressed.

Adam Cook did u got lucky?

You're a lifesaver. Now I can go into my patch job prepared. Great video and technique.
Great work I did find cutting a circle as opposed to a square looks more seem less and is less likely to get caught and start to get pulled up.
Jacob did an awesome job for me in Troon North on a rental home I spilled paint on the carpet. Cleaned it up with Turpentine, and as an added bonus, steam cleaned the hallway, and stairs. Highly Recommend!
My friend! You are the master of this trade! Your instruction is simple and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing.
About to try this! I believe you saved my life today!
I just bought a brand new house y my chihuahua destroyed part of my carpet. I was so mad at him, but now that you have gave me all that I need to repair it myself I'm happy again. Thank you so much
Same here 😩 I live in an apt tho so I gotta fix it before my lease is up 💀 wish me good luck
Just done two patches, thank you so much for your video, well worth watching 👍😊
This guy is a life saver ... I just got a new home and my wife burnt the carpet.... let’s just say it’s looks like new again
I wish I'd googled this and seen this vid before replacing the entire room's carpet, lol! Thank you! (now I know what to do next time :-)

Thank you Einstein!!! MAKE A VIDEO and show us how it's done...
Nezello he is right no bs
Just use a pen to make virtual perforation line on the patch to be removed
@@Yukam1912 it's called a row finder.
Use 10mm knitting needle.
Ensure Knapp is lying same direction as repair piece
Thanks Matey, you saved me $200:00 for a hole the size of a $2:00 coin. I’m so totally grateful.........😘😘😘

Oh wow! That is so much cleaner than using messy glues!!!! Awesome!!!!
The video was very easy to follow. Thanks so much. Our husky clawed the carpet and now I can repair it.
Nice work, you're a true artist.
Great video. Very simple process
Awesome! Would love to know what adhesive you used.
I NEED HELP. Do I do this differently if I messed up the part that attaches to the wall
Perfect! I’ll use this for my place 🙌🏻
Perfect! Wow! I need help with a carpet. Pity I live in another country....
I would suggest cutting the row after parting fibers for a clean straight cut. You will always see the square the way you cut it. Just a suggestion.
The steps what my husband need to do. Thank you! 👍🏼❣️
This video is For all of those who have pets in their rented place but are not allowed to hahah
Jajaja that true
Too funny cause unfortunately that’s exactly why I’m watching this video right now... came home to a disaster smh 🐕🤦🏽♀️ 😂
Now you have stain that patch to match the rest of the dirty carpet :)
Exactly! 😂 My pitbull just shredded a spot on my carpet.
SO TRUE LMAO
Impressive! What adhesive did you use? Got a link?
Will this work if you apply the iron and towel directly to the tape ?
Could I do this with a steam iron instead of the iron and damp cloth?
Amazing! It's looks easy enough that even I could do it!
Just did it and this definitely works. Just save money on my deposit
aha! wondering where to get the "fix" new piece..and closet! SMART HACK!! mucho
greatful!!!
sondrag2 any place in a closet that's not noticeable. Then replace that with any carpet you want

This was clear and cut to the chase. Thanks for the help!
For real that was I need too . Other people talk too much 😂
What about threshold carpet patches from cats clawing under the closed doors
Perfect, love it! Thanks
Will pressure seam tape work too??
I wish yu had rolled the carpet over to show the bonding. Thank you for the video though. :)

3:35, What temp on the Iron for "About 60 sec" or does it matter
That’s my question. It looks hot AF.
I have a heat gun. Would that work from a safe distance ?
This worked well for me. Thank You!
Thank you jacob very helpful
Excellent video--Thank you.

Thank you for this trick save me alot
Can a patch be used at a transition strip?
what heat setting did you use?
Do you have the iron on the dry setting, or full steam?
Will this stay put after shampooing the carpet?
What temp of the iron
Does that work if you have a foam underlay ?
My Berber carpet is not that old, but is coming apart a little at the seam. Can that be fixed?
What iron setting?
What about a stain on a traffic area of the carpet. If you patch it from closet carpet how would new vs. old match??
Nezello good question. Steam shampoo the carpet first. Make sure it’s a good company that can make ur carpet white again. Then go from there. All that’s left would be patching
Gracias por su consejos y ayuda para reparar mi alfombra , saludos desde san bernardino california.
beautiful job.
I need some of that EXACT carpet
Great job, how do you price something like this??
I'm new to home improvement. One thing you did not talk about was cutting a new piece to fit the patch. How do you make it an exact fit? Can you please explain?
Just measure the patch, simple.
Use the piece you cut out as a stencil and trace it.
Great video, thank you!!
How much do you charge for a small spot like that??
Thank you
Excellent work but you should consider using double-sided heat tape because it holds onto the foundation better
Unless someone else comes in to restretch the carpet later. If it's stretch in carpet you do not want it to bond with the pad. If it's on the subfloor with no pad then it would be fine to use double sided tape.
What if there’s foam padding underneath?
Awesome info!
How much do you charge for repairs?
Great job does it work with a Berber
How long should this last?

Thanks your video
Gracias...me has ayudado nucho
Thanks la neta me ayudo el video no soy carpetero tengo q hacer un big reparo aver como me queda camarada gracias
How much do you charge to do this?
Looking to do this in our rental property but concerned with the small square that would then be missing from the closet. What do you do? Suggestions?
Glea Neeley you can replace that with any carpet. you can try to find one that matches at home depot but even if it dose not its ok. just find a spot that's not noticeable
Glea Neeley
You use the square you cut with the stain on it as your pattern to cut out the square in the closet.... so you can try to clean the stained piece as well as you can with cleaners that won't hurt the carpet and put the stained piece in the closet where you removed the clean piece. Should be the same size if you do it right.
Where do you get the new patch of carpet from that is the exact same as the rest of the room? A closet?
Yes a closet and I replace the closet piece with a random piece I try and match it best I can
Why not just buy a piece of sq foot from Home Depot, then you won’t ruin another area in ur room.
Great vid! How hot do you want your iron?
Pretty hot you want the steam more then anything
Awesome! 👌
Good job
What setting do you use on the iron for this?
Linda Rivers high heat and steam
Kust wondering how long this will last. Can you still shampoo over it later on?
What heat setting do you put the iron on?
what do you mean by cutting a piece out of the closet like how will that get patched up?
Swapp it with the one you took off first
superb AMigo wondrapul thank ya so much.
Definitely I’ll try my little puppies torn the carpet
Thank you!!
Hey Jacob, How much would you charge for a patch that size?
Kevin Brown if I'm coming out for just a patch 75.00 of I'm cleaning the house already then 25.00

OMG WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?!?!?!?
PLEASE SAY YOU ARE IN LOS ANGELES
justicecarly Peoria az
excellent
thank you for this
This is awesome, i accidentally left a heat lamp on my floor and burned a big circle in the carpet, maybe this'll help my parents not kill me...
Friendly suggestion: Consider a plug in timer for your heat lamp, they're very useful and can turn appliances on and off when you're asleep or away from the house
Yo wow so cool omg it’s so nice
where do you get a piece of carpet that matches for you customer
The closest
+Jacob Alvarado thank you for sharing your knowledge bro, I was wondering, what's better doing that kinda repair or Dyeing the carpet mixing colors?
I think the patch is easier. I would only spot dye a bleach stain
Thanks for watching by the way
+Jacob Alvarado is good to know I just started with 0 experience and trying to learn, your channel is my favorite. thank you for the answering.
