Great quest, and by the way - the Ring of Sunfire is a leveled ring, so if you finish the quest while being at level 25 or higher, it gives 25% of spell reflection as well as 35% disease resistance.

If I had a nickel for every time in Oblivion a Vampire claimed to be a Vampire hunter to cover their tracks, I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice, right?

Now I realized that I have never ever talked to Roland before doing this quest and meeting him in his cabin
Did you use to snipe him? I did, lol! I did the quest about 3 times before realising you could talk to him! (I'm so glad I wasn't the only one!)
I think he didn't mean he instantly killed him in the cabin, but he didn't talk to him in the city before the quest. I didn't know that as well btw
I don't have the time I used to for revisiting my favorite games, so listening to these videos while working or going to sleep has been a joy. I'm determined to dive into Oblivion again someday

I think it's how seamless his dialog matches the game
I love the subversion of expectations with Seridur's bodyguard. His dialogue seems to imply that he knows Seridur is a vampire, and the fact that he's in leveled armor makes it seem like you'll need to fight him when you fight Seridur. Then it turns out that he didn't know Seridur was a vampire at all.

Not so sure if he knew or not tho. Even if he did he wouldn't really tell you after Seridur was dead. He could have just taken the chance for an easy way out
I halfway expect him to be who Seridur feeds on. Perhaps he even stays around with the opportunity to become a vampire himself, if he serves Seridur long enough.
Would explain why he is so well equipped and in defense of Seridur, yet doesn't notice anything weird about Seridur's schedule.
This is one of my favorite quests! I love anything vampire in Oblivion (mind was blown when I first got turned into a vampire by Vicente Valtieri), and this quest's storyline was awesome! Thanks for the fun video!! 😄🙌

I actually never had this quest pop up for me and I always wondered what that cabin was for. Guess this explains it, the Temple district is the district that I neglect the most and I only really visit it when the quest isn't available.

Aw man, my comment got auto deleted… prolly cause I mentioned an old website and yt thought I was linking something. Well, long story short- I had a bestie named Roland, was my first internet friend, so this gave me a blast of turn of the century (lol) nostalgia. Crazy, we met in person a bunch of times, the internet was a lot more honest back then lol. Anyway Rolands are the best people, and I miss mine (he passed in 2005) but this video took me on a nice memory trip, and I appreciate it

Seridurs eye color is very deceptive. Did he cast an Illusion spell that made them appear normal to the Player?

My guess is regular or at least recent feedings reducing the vampiric appearance
According to the Unofficial Elder Scrolls wiki, Seridur is different to most vampires in a few ways; he's not part of the Vampire NPC Faction, nor does he take damage while outside in the sun. Dark Lore also seems to be using the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, as the wiki also says he doesn't have Vampire Dust on his corpse in the base game.
As it's supposed to be a surprise to the player until they speak to Roland, they probably coded in parts of vampirism separately rather than slap the generic Vampire onto him, in order to preserve his appearance.

The thing that has always bothered me about this quest, is why can't you just ask Roland to step outside into the Sunlight. It's such a simple test.
Well I mean I know why, it probably would have been annoying to code... It could just be it never occurred to anyone at Bethesda, but that's not an encouraging thought.
Npc can actually go in and out and more. They even can travel between cities. So it's rather a plot issue.
Vampires that have fed recently can walk in the sunlight.
If you turn into one, you have to feed once a day if you want to otherwise play normally.
@@dunnohow2live997 I figured it had more to do with context sensitivity. But then I believe there is dialogue that appear based on the time of day elsewhere. Of course I am almost certain most are trigger upon speaking to the person. As I can't recall Dialogue options that only appear based on that... though I am vaguely remembering time sensitive responses to the same dialogue option?
@@patrickbuckley7259 I dunno exactly how to trigger a npc to move after the dialogue but I remember Jauffre during the attack at the Priory has some similar functionality that we need. We find him inside of the chapel, speak with him and then he goes outside with us. Also we can turn a npc into a temporary follower somehow, so they'll go out with the player.

You haven't mentioned it, but the vampire facts that Gilen and Grey-Throat tell you are also a subtle hint towards Altmer racials (from Oblivion and previous games). Like disease resistance, paralysis immunity, weakness to fire.

I don’t know if you realized, but if your were to kill Roland and leave Seridur alive and end the quest like that, you’ll find a whole stash of bodies of Seridur’s new victims underneath that long bridge that leads into the Imperial City right near where you did that Rumare Slaughterfish quest, indirectly telling you that you made the wrong choice in this quest.

Is it true that you can get vampirism from interacting with the corpses of vampires?
Vampire hunters, huh? Did the Dawnguard exist around the time of Oblivion?
As soon as suspicion was cast, i did the sensible thing and cast a paralysis spell on both men, and when the Breton whatshisface didnt resist it, i cast calm and charm to pacify him.
Guess who did resist the spell though? That was a brawl and a half. 😂

Are there only 2 or 3 female voice actors in the US?
Oblivion was weird and very restrictive when it came to voice acting. It had:
1 actor for male Nords, Orcs, Argonians, and Khajiit
1 actor for male Imperials (and Dremora)
1 actor for male Redguards
1 actor for male Bretons
1 actor for male Elves
1 actor for female Bretons and Imperials
1 actor for female Argonians and Khajiit
1 actor for female Nords and Orcs
1 actor for female Redguards
1 actor for female elves
So there were only 10 voice actors total, not counting Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean, and Terence Stamp.
Skyrim may be the only time Bethesda genuinely listened to critical feedback and made an honest improvement by adding much needed variety to the voice casting.

I love your content, having binged likely all of it numerous times. But your thumbnails are so clickbaity and disingenuous to the actual content that even I am not interested in watching what shows up in my feed.
Most of the time I want to view your content I specifically go to your channel and find a video then play your Mix or follow a notification that you posted, I rarely click your videos from my feed.
I know you have to play the algorithm, and all that, but I think it's pretty well beyond that to now working against you. Maybe the analytics don't agree, but this is just my two cents
