@@mvmsmamorality and law are two different things tho. If you believe its wrong to steal from the dead or whatever, this applies to all, even the outlaws
These businesses are priced so highly and their proprietors are so surly in disposition that one merchant offering lower prices and with a friendly attitude is enough to cripple their businesses. Clearly the answer isn't "lower prices to be more competitive" or "work on presenting a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the clients", its to kneecap the non-cartel merchant.
I don’t get how robbing corpses is evil. I think keeping valuable goods on a rotting corpse that has literally no use for them is one of the dumbest things ever. There’s an argument that Thoronir shouldn’t be entitled to them specifically for sure, but I think they should be given away to all those poor beggars rather than just being pointlessly locked away in a tomb. It’s even more absurd that not only is it illegal in Cyrodil, but it’s literally punishable by death. Then again, so is literally every other crime in Cyrodil if you resist arrest.
Is it just me or do some of the human faces in Oblivion look… borederline human? Like, many are still clearly exaggerated, don’t get me wrong, but a bunch of them seem like the faces of people I see on the street rather than the idealized pretty humans or caricatures of humans games steer towards. Some of Oblivion’s people look overweight without being ugly and that’s such a rarity in games that it’s worth mentioning. Oblivion gets a lot of criticism for certain designs or voice lines, but I kind of think that the faces have some spark to them. Combine that with Oblivion’s use of colors and this game is actually kind of pretty.
It really is. The only thing 'wrong' with the character creation is that the features had no cap on them and the movement didn't correlate 1:1, so you could move the same few sliders back and forth and get more and more misshapen faces with no way to fix it. It really is a good character creator even despite this flaw, and many of the faces are memorable even many years later because of how much character they have. It's much better than the stable but reserved version in Skyrim in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure that someone like you would have Thoroughly Investigated this. Maybe other Merchants would have had Unique Dialogue when asking them about the "Taken from the Dead" Option.
6:12 thats because you all cornered him in his shop and train to intimidate him to work with you guys when he doesn't legally have to, The funniest thing about the quest is that what the other merchants' 'society" is doing would actually be considered illegal price fixing and it's never addressed."Local man refuses to join a price cartel, later has armed "detective" harass him and lethally harm his business partners!"
I actually agree. Seems underhanded forcing this 'union' on other traders
@@DarkLOREDash I felt so bad for him, ok yeah he didn't know it was dead body stuff, and they were technically right, but they way they handled this, just seem like he was a little slow to know he was doing wrong stuff and not just buying discounted items
One of my favourite Oblivion quests, one of the first I do when I hit town, to get Debaser early on
19:35 "boasting 31 damage" actually that's how much it weighs, the damage is listed next to it at 19.
Well, dang
Another banger my guy. Keep up the stellar work. I'm never disappointed with your work. Watching your videos makes me question not only how well I know Oblivion, but I question if I'm even playing it to its fullest. Maybe it's time for a new file...
Sweet new video much love to the fam!
Thanks mate
This is my first go-to quest for any stealth focus playthrough
If it's so disturbing, remember that grave robbing isn't much different from what we do to people we kill.
We rob people of their possessions after killing them, sometimes including clothing or armor.
What’s that comment at 10:39 about Thoronir’s scheme from Agarmir? It made me question Thoronir’s innocence in all this. But, it might be some plot hole.
Nice that you are noticing easter eggs as well. I would probably miss a lot of them, even the most obvious ones. x)
I always liked doing this quest, especially since in the crypt you can find a unique mace that can only be obtained during the quest. Since after the quest is finished the crypt is locked with no way to get the mace again
Great video! From the time when Bethesda used to make good games, Oblivion had so much detail
0:03 @diredier that's true but I still love skyrim and no one can say it's not as good as oblivion
Thank you!
@@DarkLOREDash your welcome
That npc conversation is Gold,❤😅
All of the important names of notable Roman figures is awesome!
I think when you picked up the weapon in the mausoleum you accidentally said 31 damage instead of the weight being 31
I think you're spot on
After finishing this quest, Thoronir becomes my main guy to sell stuff to. Haggling with him is easy, as he likes me a lot, so his still becomes the cheapest store for me.
Never got into Oblivion the same way as many other Bethesda games. However I love seeing other delving into this far more than I ever did.
I completed it but never got as invested as Morrowind or Fallout 3.
Cheers for the great content mate 👍
This is one of those memorable early game quests.
No problem 👍Appreciate it
I always assumed The Debaser was a reference to the Pixies track "Debaser".
This quest was so fun to do back in the day, and reinforce my hatred for unions. (:
Ugh been waiting you make such good content I swear! :D!
PC: Stealing from the dead is bad! *pockets Calliben's Grim Retort from off a grave* 😉
One of the first quests in Oblivion.. ah! nostalgia :D
After I busted the grave robber and his illegal activities I must have accidentally picked up one of the personal belongings from a grave cause I was swiftly arrested after telling the shop owner the truth.
I just stopped a grave robber then get arrested for accidentally picking up one stolen item. I guess justice had to be served to someone cause the real robbers are now dead.
Crazy bc theres a Starfield quest in Neon that has the exact same dialogue at the start
I love how all of the merchants are like “welcome to my store! Please don’t go to this other store, the prices are SO CHEAP AND INCREDIBLY AFFORDABLE”
Bosmer NPC really are the most entertaining in this game.
When I pick pocketed Debaser from Agamir he dropped a second one after he died 😅
This is the first Quest I did on the start of my last playthrough that I did not finish and it's the first Quest they did on the current playthrough I'm doing that I will hopefully finish
Remember folks: it’s not okay to steal even from the dead… unless you are the main character killing bandits then taking their belongings 😊 …wait…
Well, they're called outlaws for a reason. The law doesn't apply to them, you can do whatever you want to them and it won't be a crime. At least that's the real world medieval definition of an outlaw.
I definitely think thoronir set the PC up then backtracked whenever his contact died
As somebody from maryland idk how i missed that
I don’t know I still don’t trust him that he really didn’t know where the inventory was being gotten from…
I am LOVING the LotR references!
Me too! I wonder why they are so cryptic, though
Lol the whole time, I'm just like " But...don't we do that?"
Jensine is my most hated character in Oblivion.
I really enjoy this type of review
23:26 another reference weather ward possibly a reference to weathertop
I always assumed Debaser was just a Pixies reference.
_Got me a movie_
_I want you to know_
_slicing up eyeballs_
_I want you to know_
I be waiting for your videos they’re art
Got to love Oblivion's NPC coversations.🤣🤣🤣
That disposition shift is a doozy
what? there's a legendary mace in the tomb? didn't know that and now I need to get it.
A tale on graverobbing and price fixing
They look like people at Wal-Mart.
Dark Lore Dashing strikes again!
Another great quest
The thumbnail looks like Doja Cat zombie edition
Hell yea loved this quest
I don't see what all the fuss is about literally all my gear was looted off of dudes I murdered.
I can go for a lasagna at Three Brothers. Highly recommended!😊
Frenzy on Adorin Fan near him.
