There’s also the fact that because of his backstory it might’ve been one of the reasons why he didn’t choose Snow white. Because it would’ve meant having to confront his father who the magic mirror does show in passing when talking about her. Then you have Cinderella who was the other choice who to him wouldn’t be royal since she started out as a servant to her stepmother it makes sense then why he would’ve chosen Fiona.

Funfact: Lord Farquaad resembles Disney's former CEO Michael Eisner. Jeffery Katzenberg made this to insult Michael Eisner. Which reminds me, Issac, can you do the history of Shrek (2001) how Jeffery Katzenberg made this film to make fun of disney and how it became popular and why shrek became more successful than the prince of egypt (1998)?
@@arZ1v4ld Oh..god..that is funny,If you know about the Black friday thing for Toy Story where Katzenberg nearly killed them by demanding more edge..That,is actually..kind of clever.
Isn't that Jeffrey Katzenberg responsible for the failures of _The Black Cauldron_ when the movie was supposed to be R-Rated? I guess that's a missed opportunity to put that reference on Shrek since he's pretty much the one who ruined it in the first place.
You know, in Lord Farquaad's defence, he was the 1st person to give Shrek an opportunity based on his capabilities, and not the way he looked. True, he probably explored the possibility that Shrek was going to die, and there would be one less fairytale creature (and an ogre, no less) in the world, but at the same time he saw something in Shrek that seemed to have a real chance of being successful. You know, a crueller man would have simply said "this ogre is too ugly to be my champion who will rescue my bride-to-be." But instead of that, Lord Farquaad decided "either he dies trying to save the Princess, and I never have to hear from him again, or he he actually does rescue the Princess and I never have to hear from him again because I gave him that swamp to live in."Also, an argument could be made that Some of Lord Farquaad's ancestors used to hold tournaments when they needed someone to do something on their behalf. Nothing that cruel there. Just tradition.
Not to mention, Farquaad probably thought that there was no way Fiona would fall for Shrek. If he sent one of his men, and they were successful, there was a high chance that Fiona would fall for them because they were human.
Lord Farquaad is my favorite Animated Villain. He is so under-rated compared to other shrek characters, gets small recognition, and lastly has the shortest screen time in the movie.
Yeah but the schtick with farquaad is that he’s really just pathetic. Which compared to the fairy godmother and rumplestilskin he just isn’t that compelling
If I remember the story from the Princess and the Pea, she ended up married to the prince because she passed the test. And Grumpy has worked with his brothers from the beginning, they're going to have to look for another dwarf. Even though it's a reasonable explanation to be grumpy... I mean who wouldn't be with a son like Farquaad... and his rotten attitude towards Snow White at the beginning because as a princess he would be reminded of his dead wife (had he been married)...
Aight you all aren’t slick. As punishment you will pay a small fine of everything you own and a short sentence in the mines for an until you last dying breath.
This video brings me a smile to my face, my school was supposed to open Shrek the Musical tonight. The Ballad of Farquaad is one of the best songs in the show and reveals a lot about the original villain of Shrek.
Next time do “How did Crane get the Furious Five back to the Jade Palace before Tai Lung” cause looking back on that scene as adult, Tai Lung paralyzed most of the Five with nerve strikes, whereas Crane was the only one that could move.
the explanation for that is that tai long was sending a message of fear to the jade palace and villagers in the valley of peace, that's probably why he didn't do the nerve attack on crane
So Farquaad was actually a mini Hitler in a lot of ways😂😂 Which would make even more sense for him choosing Princess Fiona, because she was actually based on an old German story about Broomhilda and Siegfried, which actually is certainly depicted in the movie when Shrek goes to rescue her from her castle prison..
Can you make a video of a Tiana's mother's full Story please please please please and I wonder how did Queen Lillian and King Harald that each other I really want to hear the full story of Princess Fiona's parents the love story am I want to hear the love story of of Princess Anna and Princess Elsa's mother and father's love story and I really want to know what is Anna going to do as Queen of Arendelle
Please do a video about Shrek’s Donkey and a theory surrounding his backstory and why Donkey was formerly a human before he was transformed into the talking donkey we all know and love and he loves to make us laugh!
I mean, it’s pretty obvious that he was one of those kids from Pinocchio who was smart enough to pretend to not be able to speak anymore (as he did at the beginning of Shrek with the Guards).
Farquaad is definitely a villain that makes one laugh half the time, but one can also feel bad for him considering his childhood. Also the DuLoc song sounds like a parody of It's A Small World
He is based on the former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, as Jeffrey Katzenberg (one of the founders of DreamWorks and a former executive of Disney) holds some animosity towards Eisner for firing him in 1994 at the age of 43. Farquaad may also be based on the late Napoleon Bonaparte, due to being short, yet ruling with an iron fist and crowning himself to the king. He may also be based on the late Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States as he forces fairytale creatures from their home while Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act in 1830 that led to the forced removal of the Indians of the Five Civilized Tribes called the Chickasaw, the Creek, the Seminole, the Cherokee, and the Choctaw.
Napoleon was not actually short; he was actually of an average height for men during his time period. He was merely mocked as short by his enemies because, unlike other world leaders at the time, he didn’t use shoes and chairs to make himself seem taller. Also, the Andrew Jackson connection seems a bit flimsy. There is a similarity there, but I think it likely that the Filmmakers were going for more of a Hitler vibe. They obviously couldn’t show Fairy Tale creatures being enslaved or slaughtered onscreen, though, so they merely showed them being evicted from a “perfect” society.

Ok so it's interesting to note; Farquaad hated fairy tale characters yet he utilized the magic mirror from the story of Snow White to seek out his "perfect queen". He couldn't have hated them that much if he utilized the magic mirror. Yes, the mirror was able to provide useful information past the kingdom of Duloc but still, Farquaad kept the mirror while he banished everyone else. Double standards much? (My apologies if this has already been mentioned)
Not really a double standard tbh. The Magic Mirror isn’t really a living creature per se, and, unlike the other Fairy Tale Creatures, it’s actually useful to him.
Let me bring you to another double standard in the movie , despite the movie being about how looks doesn't matter and only love does , they still go out of their way to make fun of lord Farquad's height

My theory is his father gave him diamonds from the mine as birthday gifts and he just kept them eventually using them to buy the land and materials to build his perfect world
I use to think that he was born into the kingdom, and inherited it after the death of his parents, and had shortman syndrome. Had no idea that his mother left the kingdom and married a dwarf. I'm surprised that he obtained the thrown at age 28.
Farquaad wasn’t just trying to have a perfect world, he was also preparing for war. Think about it. Lords are sworn to the service of their king. So essentially by marrying a princess and having children with her, he could claim autonomy over his lands and bring in the wife’s kingdom as an ally to fight off his master. Likely, if he had married Fiona with no hiccups, Far Far Away would be force to participate in the war.
In the first Shrek movie Lord Farquaad reminds me of Lord Business from The LEGO Movie because they're both obsessed with perfection and they want everything to be perfect
The fact that we see the 7 dwarves in chains being led away in the scene that introduces Donkey and Pinocchio means that Farquaad had his father and uncles arrested and deported. I wonder if someone else turned them in and claimed money for them or if Farquaad himself told the knights where to round them up at.
@@JaggedBird I saw the musical on netflix and they have Lord Farquaad "step" on his dancers in a song which you couldn't do unless the actor is dancing on his knees for most of the song.
Do you notice on TV and movies, whenever there is a character who is a jerk or kind of pathetic/loser, they very often make him short and then make fun of him for being short as if being short is somehow connected to having character flaws. Shrek was an ugly ogre but he was the protagonist. Lord Farquad was a handsome, prince. Well how do you get the audience to hate him? Just make him short.
knowing who Farquaad's father was, its kinda ironic that he doesn't want any fairytale creatures in duloc as he himself is technically a fairytale creature
Interesting, i love Shrek alot! So if his father is Grumpy does that mean his mother was the princess in the story about the pea? The whole bed thing and her falling off and dying thing sounds like a grimm version of Princess and the Pea.

My theory is his father gave him diamonds from the mine as birthday gifts and he just kept them eventually using them to buy the land and materials to build his perfect world
Omg I love this and great video isaac and keep up the good work ❤❤
4:10 "please keep off of the grass, shine your shoes wipe your... face" xD
Kinda dark but I’d love to see him return as a ghost and taunt Shrek.
And it’s shrek 4D in attraction ride in universal studios Florida it was set after the events of the first shrek and before shrek 2 came out
I think he did in one Halloween special, Thelonius brought Shrek to Dulock and had him get attacked by the ghost of Farquaad
First of all, this was a great video!
And second, does anyone else pictured Elphaba at 2:23 min? x3
Well it is a wicked reference
It's a wicked reference so....
Is the man in the play who plays Lord Farquaad on his kinees?
Yes
Huh...I always thought they hired someone short enough and professional enough in terms of acting.
@@JaggedBird I saw the musical on netflix and they have Lord Farquaad "step" on his dancers in a song which you couldn't do unless the actor is dancing on his knees for most of the song.
What does that mean?
Welcome back everyone
When he said Miner did anyone else think he said "Minor"?
*sees Mama bear rug*
That's a big OOF.
The Shrek musical looks completely different to the British version
To his credit, he kept his promise with Shrek and cleared up his swamp.
Ooo, am I early for a new video? YAY!! Hi watso!!
Please please pleasssssse do a topic on Mulan next week! I mean thank you for discussing Farquad but still!
Musical Farquaad low key looks like King Crimson
I was today years old when I realized just how messed up this villain is.
It is actually really sad he shares a similar back story to Shrek but both handled it differently
What a great video! TY!!!
7:38 like many dictators Hitler wasn't even German. And some fictional dictators. Voldamort wasn't even a pure blood far qud is part dwarf
Oh my God You mentioned Shrek the musical
I am performing that musical this year in July
knowing who Farquaad's father was, its kinda ironic that he doesn't want any fairytale creatures in duloc as he himself is technically a fairytale creature
Shrek the musical!! I'm glad that SOMEONE has watched it.
i did not expect him to be the son of grumpy and the pea princess.
Awesome also I love your new channel design Issac 😍✨
Interesting, i love Shrek alot! So if his father is Grumpy does that mean his mother was the princess in the story about the pea? The whole bed thing and her falling off and dying thing sounds like a grimm version of Princess and the Pea.
Please do Raven Queen from Ever After High
PRINCESS AUDREY FROM DESCENDANTS 1 & 2 & 3 (including the wicked world and novel) full story
I wonder, had Shrek not saved Fiona, and Rumple not taken control over Far Far Away because of that, would Dulok rage war against Far Far Away?
Please talk about what happened to Farquad after his death.
Also, I don't know if there's enough info on it (or if you've ever actually SEEN it) but plz discuss the TTA (Toomorowland Transit Authority) from the show Miles From Toomorowland as well as what exactly is the Hidden World

> A Princess and a minor
*knock* *knock* *knock* *FBI* *OPEN* *UP*
I wish they didn’t kill him in the first one but instead in the second one I wanted to see more of his character
Me:I should get some sleep
Me at 3 in the morning:
I feel like there should be a Live Action Shrek that further develops every character
farquaad is just emberssed to admit he half dwarf
“He huffed and he puffed an he.. signed an eviction notice”
Haha sounds like my landlord
