Fun Fact: Rupert Everett, the voice of Prince Charming, was auditioned to voice Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, but Richard White had a way more strong and handsome voice, plus, he's also an opera singer. So Everett was easily outclassed. No wonder he voiced Charming, they both never had Happily Ever Afters
@Theodore, God's gift That's not the only way Shrek 2 recycled scrapped ideas for Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Mrs. Potts was originally supposed to sing a ROCK-and-ROLL version of the film's theme song... We've all seen how Fairy Godmother's hypocritical persona mirrors Mrs. Potts' mannerisms! Jennifer Saunders' rendition of "Holding Out for a Hero" nods to the initial vision of the theme song for Beauty and the Beast.
I thought the original Prince Charming was his father as Fairy Godmother called him “Junior.” When she said “put it (the sword) away Junior. Your still gonna be king!” So this Prince Charming is Charming Junior or she took him from Cinderella and her prince as payment for helping Cinderella and adopted him as her own son?
I read a theory that states that Prince Charming Sr went to Disney Cinderella’s dimension while the FGM was pregnant and married Cinderella, so in that sense, Disney’s Cinderella would be Charming Jr’s stepmother.
This actually explains why she believes he could be king. Remember Cinderella has her own palace in the movie, making Prince Charming an actual prince. This means he would really likely be one of Fiona's possible candidates for marriage, if not the first (because Cinderella is the first and oldest Disney Princess). The only problem is that Cinderella is Fiona's friend, as seen in Shrek 3, so the possibility of marriage is odd.
I was confused because I initially wondered why Prince Charming wasn’t married to Cinderella, but I’m on board with the theory that Cinderella is Prince Charming’s real mother and King Charming (a.k.a Charming Sr.) is the father. After Fairy Godmother helped Cinderella achieve her happily ever after by going to the ball and marrying Charming Sr., she reminded Cinderella of the condition that her first born child would be given to her in return, like a rapunzel or rumplestiltskin kind of deal. It’s very plausible that Prince Charming was adopted by Fairy Godmother.
As a kid I didn't question the absence of Charming's father. I mostly noticed how he looked so proud of being spoiled rotten by his mom, so he must have not cared of having a father.

Charming being a bastard son in the Pendragon family line whose mother is obsessed with him becoming king sounds like a very reasonable and typical story line. It is now my new headcanon.
I think you should take the first movie into account. When Farquaad wants to be king, the Magic Mirror tells him he can be one-not through bloodline-but by marrying a princess. That’s the whole plot of the movie-to get the princess so that she can marry Farquaad and he can become king (Harold also married into a royal family; Shrek did, too). So why does Charming have to have hidden royal blood? He doesn’t. He could become king by marrying Fiona, which is exactly what I think Fairy Godmother had planned. I think FGM was the witch who enchanted Fiona so that Charming could rescue her and marry her. So, I don’t think Uther has to be the father.
There's one key thing that you missed out on, Wotso. Fairy GODMOTHER. This is a crucial piece that I believe may sort of imply something deeper. In some families, they are the trusted couple who may adopt a child if anything were to happen to both parents. Prince Charming, in truth could plausibly be not even Fairy Godmother's legitimate child. Here's my theory: Prince Charming is a royal child by blood. But his parents either die, or lose their kingdom and Prince Charming's fate is enlisted to Fairy Godmother. Adopting Prince Charming at a young age and does her damnedest to give him the royal crown. Her role in the world is to assure Happily Ever Afters for all who enlist her. This gives her a medium of debt owed by families or people who ask for her help. (As seen that Harold owes his marriage to Lillian.) She can manipulate people to assure her duties are fulfilled. She's given so many people happily ever afters, but her own adopted child has his carefully crafted story stolen from him? Fairy Godmother sets out to assure this story ends proper. That her child is given a happy ending that she tailored. This distorts her view of happiness and how only those she deems worthy can have it. "Ogres don't have Happily ever afters!" This ignorance proved to be her biggest lie that all are capable of happiness, as Shrek betrays the stereotype of ogres as is. The lie that Fairy Godmother believes in that only she grants happily ever after had her never consider the possibility of Shrek meeting Fiona. Prince Charming's Happily Ever After is taken and it reveals his true colors of greediness and selfish nature. He knew Fairy Godmother promised him a crown, and like an entitled mother. Fairy Godmother does everything she can to make it possible.
For a long time I used to wonder about the mystery of prince charming's origins. His mother is a fair godmother and he's just a normal prince with no magical abilities. It's quite puzzling to see the connection between mother and son. And his father is never mentioned in the movies. So this topic is quite a interesting mystery.
Well, technically, Farquad got to Fiona first when he discovered her as an eligible bachelorette, then Shrek officially met her first. So in a way, both lord and ogre got in the way of Charming’s path to the throne.
In Arthurian legend, Uther was a real piece of work, so it wouldn't be hard for the fairy godmother to seduce him, although he might not be the type of person to try and protect his family that much. Still, this theory holds water pretty well.

Mine was Fairy God Mother made Charming out of Magic, because at the time I didn’t know Charming even had a father, plus he was never mentioned and since Fairy God Mother has magic, and Shrek is a fairytale movie (in its own way), I just assumed Charming was born from magic. Then her making deals with Harold, to become human. Then Harold and Fairy God Mother cursing Fiona by accident because of the previous magic/potions to make Harold human, Having them stuck another deal and making Charming King, as payment for her helping out King Harold twice. Hence why he is so dead set on becoming king because that the deal, and Fairy God another always telling him he is the rightful ruler. Not only that both mentioned each other, as Fiona knew who was gonna rescue her because of her Dairy in the Movie. Charming already knew about her in the beginning of the movie. Meaning that it was mostly due to the deal struck by King Harold and Fairy God Mother, that they were meant to be with each other. But since Fairy God Mother didn’t know about Lord Farquad and what he was gonna do. Shrek got to Fiona just maybe a couple weeks before Charming even got there.
Heather Allen Thank you, mine was mostly based off the movies itself. Idk about Charming being a Pendragon because he would still be related to Fiona, since she is cousins to Arty but then again it’s a movie so anything could happen
And would explain why he abandoned Arthur. He wasnt needed for taking over Far Far away or claiming Fiona as his princess. He was just an accident he dumped at a school.
If we were to choose a character in the series, I think Lord Farquad is a good candidate. Charming looks like a mixture of Fairy God Mother and Farquad. She may have purple hair, but maybe she was blonde when she was younger? And if he ended up with any short genes, she could have easily made her son taller with her magic.
Even if Farquad is the dad, genetics would work in Charmings case. Farquads mom was said to be tall, and it's not known the hair color of Farquads dad or mom, so one of them could have had blonde hair
Througought history the throne was kept in the family by cousins & half-siblings being married. Egypt, many kingdoms in Europe & more have records verifying that. In fact the current Queen of England & her husband Prince Phillip of Scotland are also *distant* cousins I believe.
Sometimes he kinda knows that there is something off but goes through it anyway, in the tales he was was trick, in othera he figure it out the morning after, in most everyone he just like to pretend it never happen. He always knew he was banging someone else wife. There are many legends and versions of the myth. And, yes, it would have been one of her half sister, (usually) Morgause, but in morden version tends to be Morgana/Morgan Le Fay (oth names look similar, but I swear that they are two different characthers!).
Charming and Arthur do look a lot alike, I noticed that the first time I watched Shrek the Third. It would make sense that they could be half brothers. Also, royal family members married each other and had children all the time to keep their lines "pure". That's why there are stories of royals having so many health problems, is due to all the inbreeding. So, realistically, the royal family may not have objected to Fiona marrying Charming even if they knew he was her cousin.
Prince charming was called junior by the fairy godmother so my theory is that he is the son of the og prince charming and the fairy godmother. Maybe they had an affair which led to the breakup of Cinderella and the og prince charming
I had the idea of Uther being Charming's father when I was coming up with how I'd rewrite Shrek the Third. And in it, then I also had the idea of Charming being manipulated by perhaps another male sibling of Lillian's, into thinking he was his real father, having been bitter about Harold winning the throne over him years ago.
Frozen and Tangled look like different time periods. But we sew. Repunzel & Eugien in Frozen. And in The series episode brothers hook . I thought I sew Elsa and Anna in puppet form as some of girls he dated in song I'm living the dream
I think Charming is Arthur’s father from Shrek 3 for several reasons: 1. Arthur’s says in Shrek 3 that his father dumped him at a high school and never heard from him again. What if the reason he left Arthur was to go rescue Fiona (Charming)? After that, Charming was probably too emotionally distraught to take care of Arthur, causing him to leave him at the school. 2. Kids usually inherit traits from their parents, so it would make sense if charming was his dad, they both have blonde hair and many other similar features. 3. Charming might have had a kid so he could still have a chance at a throne. He probably was just using Arthur to become royalty before Shrek 3 (after Shrek 2 finished). 4. If Charming is his dad, Cinderella might have been his mom. Cinderella might have taken place along the same time as the Shrek movies. Things might not have worked between the 2, seeing as their relationship was rushed into. This caused Charming to take Arthur after the breakup to marry him off. BTW, this is just my theory. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
I dont know charming didnt react to Arthur at all like son or something artie aswell knows how his father looked like he Would have sayed something to charming what he didnt
My theory is that Prince Charming was the love child of some king and fairy godmother. Which then makes him a bastard child and they don't have a right to the throne. Fairy godmother raised him on her own and still called him a prince because he technically was and would do anything for him to be a king of his own kingdom because his right was stripped away.
Happened a lot in the middle ages, Not how it worked, you had to be officially recognized as a son to be prince, if not, you were no different than a peasant
if feels like you over thought this, its most likely that she just used potions to make him hansom and his looks are just the outcome, his claim to the throne is just a delusion set in him by his mother.
As someone of Welsh heritage, I am obligated to point put that "Uther" is pronounced as "Oother", with the "th" being the sound as in "thin". In Welsh, "th" as in the sound of "that" is "dd".
If the fairy godmother could turn a frog into a king, then she’s more than capable of turning some other animal into a charming prince…but it was more likely something new born so Charming has no past memories of what he was…the fairy godmother had to do this as she wasn’t royalty and Charming just refers to her as his mother because she’s all he’s known to have raised him. 👍
I just realized he’s trying to say Uther not actually saying “other” I was thinking “I can’t believe he wasn’t able to find Uther’s name in research since it isn’t too hard to find” and then it hit me I find it adorable
You are *magical!!!* I always wanted to know this thanks so much! 5:06 Shrek: hold the phone???!😳 Donkey:😂😕 Fiona:😳 Fairy godmother's ghost:😓 Charming:😲 Arthur😕
Wait wait hear me out: what if Lord Farquaad was Pince Charming's father. If the fairy godmother truly wanted power and then she could have directly try to gain the role of princess by marring a King or a Lord (if it works like in the UK then she could partially have the power by marring the Lord/King but once he dies she can't be set queen so she'd have to keep power through a descendance so just in case Lord Farquaad dies then her descendance would take the throne and be influenced by her. If she had married Lord Farquaad then it could explain some things like her magical powers. What if she wasn't born with it but she charmed Farquaad so he would...idk, send an army to look for anyone or anything that could give her powers, to find a magic book full of incantations and all, or capture a fairy or a witch to force them to practice a ritual in order to give her magical abilities. It's not like it's impossible since in the first movie Lord Farquaad's guards and army had tools and sort of protocols to catch magical creatures and fairy tales characters so what if this knowledge and adapted cages and chains were used before to contain a witch or a fairy. It could also explain why Prince Charming isn't part fairy and doesn't have magical powers: that's because his mother got her abilities from a ritual so she can't transmit these traits to her offsprings. That theory could also explain tiny details like the fact that, in Shrek 1, Lord Farquaad has a bed made for two or that he thinks he's a woman's man even tho we never saw him even approach a woman in the movie. Oh and I might not remember clearly but it came to my eyes that Lord Fraquaad had a ring at a moment in the first movie before trying to marry Fiona. Also he owned most part of the town including Bulock and further than that so what tells us that he did not owned a magic potions/books about magical incantations facility which he could have given to his wife so she could fullfill her wish and learn more curses and incantations. That'd be the moment she really became the fairy godmother! But Bulock disapeared along with Lord Farquaad so the prince and his mother wouldn't have interests in governing ruins and abandoned houses which is why they tried their chance by try to save Fiona but of course Charming got there way too late and the fairy godmother had to get close to the royal family in order to learn who is the last obstacle for them to access the throne. The fairy godmother could have learned about princess Fiona through the talking mirror who gave Farquaad pretendants so he could cheat on fairy godmother. You talked about physical traits but we do not know fairy godmother's hair color since she got old and has now white hair. What if she was blonde? Prince's facial traits and the form of his jaws looks a lot like Lord Farquaad's ngl, and doesn't he has a mole on his face just like Lord Farquaad?
I wondered this as a kid too but I came to the idea that fairy godmother just made Charming out of thin air cause she felt lonely, explains why hes so handsome and talented but the same nasty egotistical personality as she does.
Once upon a time a long time ago there was a king named Pendragon who was gifted with two sons, but 1 of them had been promised to a Fairygodmother in exchange for helping him achieve his quest in finding true love. She took his firstborn child an raised him in her cottage filling his head with dreams of becoming a hero. While king Pendragon raised his other child the very same way only he could not get his head in the game. So when he turned 5 his Father sent him off to school to learn what it takes to be king.
I thought fairy godmother made him, for him to be “perfect” her own creation, she wants nothing but the best for him. That’s why she struck up the deal so her son gets the life he deserves and she gets to rule too?
I think back in time the Fairy Godmother offered the "Happy ever after" potion to (frog) Harold (so he could be with Lilian) in exchange of their first son who'll proclaim the kingdom later? Harold stars to worry so he got a plan and got Lillian pregnant again and they have Fiona, then the Fairy Godmother knows about his plan and confronts him and tells him that she can brake the Happy ever after spell on him so she offers him another deal, to lock (and curse) Fiona into the tower until Prince Charming rescue her! (remember in Shrek 4 Harold goes with rumplestilskin to get rid of the Fairy Godmother "curse" )
Having a child out of a wedding and all the other hops she had to jump through in this theory is a little had to believe when she could have just married other pendragon and had charming as the legitimate heir.
I like the theory that charmings father is Lillian's father, the fairy god mother ether seduced him or there was an affair, and when he was not legitimized, fairy God mother disided to take vengancy on the pendragon family by making lilian fall in love with a frog
Deanna Tangen Thats actually a great theory! That would also make sense why Fairy Godmother helped Harold to get his happily ever after with Lillian. There’s also a theory that she may had also been the one who cursed Fiona, so she would be forced to marry her son Charming. Maybe this was her grand plan all along, for her son to become the rightful heir to the throne.
Bryce Royles If it WAS Harold, that would explain why he was an ogre in the original plan for Shrek 4. He’d be half-fairy half-frog, so he’d be an ogre with wings.
Prince Charming's life can be seen as depressing. It's true he was a selfish mama's boy but he was just so used to it he didn't expect or try to look beyond it. Fairy Godmother *didn't care about him* becoming king for his own gain, she only wanted to fulfill the fairytale legend she's been following/setting up as her trade. *Norman Bates couldn't be better domesticated.* -A good example of this is after Fiona headbutts Charming and knocks him unconscious. Does she go to see if her son is alright? *Nope!* She goes to yell at Harold for not giving Fiona the love potion.
Whoa. I do like this theory. Very accurate to how complicated royalty was and how some people would do what they can to work around it and be in power themselves.
To all those trying to correct his pronunciation of Uther, watch to the end. That made me laugh out loud 😂 Interesting theory, by the way. I personally just assumed that Fairy Godmother adopted Charming because he's so unlike her in looks, magic, and competence. Maybe she got him in a "deal" as tends to happen in fairytales that someone might get a powerful reward but at the cost of their first-born child. Sounds evil, but we know she's been shown to do both gifts and curses depending on the situation.
Ehy Wotso, can you do a video about how Shrek never borning led to the alternate reality we see in the fourth movie? I mean, it'd be interesting to find an explanation as to why Puss became fat or as to why the Muffin Man now organizes gladiator fights, as well as answering questions like where did characters like the Fairy Godmother and Lord Farquaad go? My personal theory is that it's not just the disappearance of Shrek that led to that future, but also the fact that Rumpelstiltskin retains his memories, inclining him to hate all the ogres or to ruin Shrek's old friends' lifes somehow. But I'd like to hear your ideas in a video too.
I think that fairy godmother adopted charming and pushed all of this on to him. So that way she could have control of far far away. There was no implication that she married and mated with anyone in regards to any of the movies.
Maybe Fairy Godmother stole Charming as a baby and convinced him to believe that he was her son.

@@chardee8748 I like your theory
Heather Allen Thank you, mine was mostly based off the movies itself. Idk about Charming being a Pendragon because he would still be related to Fiona, since she is cousins to Arty but then again it’s a movie so anything could happen

I had to pause and step away from the video for a minute because I was flinching every time he said “Other” instead of “Uther.”
It was cringe-worthy unfortunately. I know your pain.
I always thought him and artie had the same father because they looked so incredibly similar.
considering who uther pendragon was, it would not be out of the realm of possibility.
My older brother once thought he was Artie's father, they kinda look alike though
OH MY STARLORD! you're right they do look alike! How did I not realize that till now?!

I honestly thought as a kid that Charming was Arthur's dad cause they looked too much like each other. This makes a lot more sense

And would explain why he abandoned Arthur. He wasnt needed for taking over Far Far away or claiming Fiona as his princess. He was just an accident he dumped at a school.

Well I'm a girl who was raised by my single dad so its not exactly impossible
In a lot of the Disney movies, there is a father with a daughter and not a mother in sight.
@@ladyv5655 name some ?
Uther not other Pendragon is both Charming and Arthur father. Fairy godmother tricked Uther like she tricked Harold. Therefore they look so similar.
Thank you I'm literally yelling Uther not other
If we were to choose a character in the series, I think Lord Farquad is a good candidate.
Ooooooooh
Charming also looks like Queen Lilian a bit lol
Anyone else notice the striking resemblance Charming has with Fiona’s mom?
So wait.
Fairy god mother wanted charming to marry his cousin?
Througought history the throne was kept in the family by cousins & half-siblings being married. Egypt, many kingdoms in Europe & more have records verifying that. In fact the current Queen of England & her husband Prince Phillip of Scotland are also *distant* cousins I believe.
Well, Arthur had a kid with his own sister, cousin seems as a step up from that.
@@dashiellea But he didn't know she was his sister (actually half-sister, I think, if I remember the Arthur legend correctly)
@@dashiellea 😂 Yeah, it can get confusing when a legend has been around enough to get different variations adding to the drama.
Arther 's father is not named other pendragon... it's Uther pendragon.

Please do a Theory on if Prince Charming actually died in Shrek 3, or did he Survive
Maybe Farquad was Charming's father? They do have similar mannerisms.
I think Charming is Arthur’s father from Shrek 3 for several reasons:
Umm charming literally tried to kill arthur? Have you watched shrek 3?
I like this. ❤
Happened a lot in the middle ages,
Not how it worked, you had to be officially recognized as a son to be prince, if not, you were no different than a peasant
if feels like you over thought this, its most likely that she just used potions to make him hansom and his looks are just the outcome, his claim to the throne is just a delusion set in him by his mother.
Video summed up:
SWEET HOME ALABAMA
alabama is not actually like that
Maybe on the slightest chance he could be Arthur older brother
“We know the handsome, adventurous, daring, power hungry man child Prince Charming-“ lol 😂 😂😂😂😂
As someone of Welsh heritage, I am obligated to point put that "Uther" is pronounced as "Oother", with the "th" being the sound as in "thin". In Welsh, "th" as in the sound of "that" is "dd".
He was her younger sister
If the fairy godmother could turn a frog into a king, then she’s more than capable of turning some other animal into a charming prince…but it was more likely something new born so Charming has no past memories of what he was…the fairy godmother had to do this as she wasn’t royalty and Charming just refers to her as his mother because she’s all he’s known to have raised him. 👍

I always thought Prince Charming was Charming’s father since Fairy Godmother called him Junior in the film.

charming: I promise you this Mother. I will restore dignity to my throne. **Get's hit by a newspaper**
....uhhhh....no Charming.....*Faceplams*
That’s why she struck up the deal so her son gets the life he deserves and she gets to rule too?
whoever his father was, he also must have had a chiseled jawline, & purchased L'Oreal from walmart.
Lol
I absolutely love your videos Isaac I hope that you enjoy your time in Disney. ☺️
What I really want to know is why Charming doesn't have any magical powers if he's the son of a magical fairy godmother.
I honestly think fairy godmother just took a stand of hair from one of the family member and cooked up herself Prince Charming straight out her pot.
Truthfully i had actually figured FGM just used magic to create the perfect prince any princess would fall in love with
I think if Charming is Arthur's older brother then it might have been a "ill grant your wish if give me your first born" deal
Do Sid the Sloth's Full Story from Ice Age.
It does make sense that she would be a Morgan Le Fay type & that "Charming" is actually "Mordred"
Of course his father isn’t King Harold
Bryce Royles If it WAS Harold, that would explain why he was an ogre in the original plan for Shrek 4. He’d be half-fairy half-frog, so he’d be an ogre with wings.
i just like to imagine that Prince is just his first name
My 2020 has been improved drastically with all these Shrek theories ♥
Well that’s something you want if they ever made a Live action theories for Shrek, that would definitely be something to look in to
The last time I've been early to a video was... Oh wait, I've never been early til now.
love you channel keep up wiht the good work
When I was younger I weirdly just assumed Lord Farquaad and Prince Charming were the same person even with the height difference 😂
This makes so much sense now, my goodness
All these years later, finally I'm caught up on all the Shrek lore. Thank you.
Now the real question is, how is Fionna a ginger if her mother is blond and her father has (problably) dark/brown hair?
Maybe on the pendragon side of the family, the queen probably had a ginger on her side-recessive genes PEOPLE!
I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Prince Charming's life can be seen as depressing. It's true he was a selfish mama's boy but he was just so used to it he didn't expect or try to look beyond it. Fairy Godmother *didn't care about him* becoming king for his own gain, she only wanted to fulfill the fairytale legend she's been following/setting up as her trade. *Norman Bates couldn't be better domesticated.*
-A good example of this is after Fiona headbutts Charming and knocks him unconscious. Does she go to see if her son is alright? *Nope!* She goes to yell at Harold for not giving Fiona the love potion.
I actually feel sorry for Charming. He was the biggest victim of his mother’s schemes, and nothing but a pawn to her. That’s gotta hurt. :/
Whoa. I do like this theory. Very accurate to how complicated royalty was and how some people would do what they can to work around it and be in power themselves.
Do Lucy Wilde's Full Backstory from the second Despicable Me film.
Honestly you were so confident sounding when saying Other Pendragon that I just went with it, it does seem like a Shrek thing to do
This would mean that Charming tried to kill his brother. Messed up indeed.
Yeah, but there is a long and distinguished history of royals killing each other for the throne, especially their own close relatives.
Fairy Godmother says to him "Put it away JUNIOR you'll still be king."
Is there a King Charming somewhere?
To all those trying to correct his pronunciation of Uther, watch to the end. That made me laugh out loud 😂
Interesting theory, by the way.
Loved the idea and points you brought up!! Some of the points reminded me of a crazy huge theory I made 5 years ago!
Can u do more tangled the series videos?
Shrek: “Good question.”
I think she made him from magic
Yes the magic of the turkey basiser
But I'd like to hear your ideas in a video too.
.... did you seriously say that Arthur's father's name was "Other Pendragon"? It's Uther. The U making the Oo sound
I think that fairy godmother adopted charming and pushed all of this on to him. So that way she could have control of far far away. There was no implication that she married and mated with anyone in regards to any of the movies.
I thought prince was his first name and charming his surname
