Love how the start of the groove implies 4/4 and then the psyche out to 5/8. Sput is a monster and this video is dope.
Very rare, but this is an entirely new feel and swagger. Sput is a legend.
This man's playing is so detailed, he plays in the pocket yet his accents and rhythms float above the pocket in an overall rhythm in some transcendent ether from which he soars to and from always expanding the rhythmic universe these tunes exist in.
Having worked with Sput and Ghost Note at Suwannee Rising 2018, he knows exactly the sound he wants.

I've watched this song a lot of times just like most of your songs(Stutter, Cat Lover, Shrill tomes and many more). Each one is a master piece. Your playing inspires me a lot, your kit control is out of this world.
Please for hand workout exercises which would you recommend for good control, should I focus on the wrist or on the fingers ??
Should I focus too on fills or on rudiments??

He spent all of his time practicing years ago. Now all he does is work as a musician. Drummer first. Keys second.
MEINL Cymbals That didn’t answer the question
Emmanuel Darden I don’t actually get to practice much at all these days but when I was in college and really practicing, I’d split my hours between the drums and keys.. So if I had 2 hrs I’d just play drums for an hr.. On weekends I’d practice 8hrs a day but on school days it would be 4hrs (2hr increments)

Emmanuel Darden you are welcome. Meinl answered the question b/c they have heard me say this a lot... So it is correct that years ago I practiced but now I can’t practice much anymore b/c my career doesn’t allow much for it
I love that Sput's answer to "I'm endorsed by Meinl, but I want to work with Zildjian" was to do a sweet drum video for Meinl and orchestrate two separate live, in-studio bands for Zildjian series that feature different killer drums with him directing and playing keys

Meinl takes multiple takes with thsese videos and combines the best parts - in the first upload they messed by using video from another and sound from another take for a split second. Just looked weird when a splash hit made that micro snare sound. So they went and reuploaded it with that error fixed.

I dunno. Sput is a tremendous drummer - but for me (it's only my taste) it's way too many notes and too much of a trash sound. Take away half of the trash cymbals, take away half of the notes and it would sound much cleaner imho. But to each his own. That kind of music just ain't my cup of tea. I much prefer the previous performance of Morten Lund.

Great cymbals and distinctive sound. The playing...well, I'm a little 'tired' with these 'gospel chops'...that's my humble experience. Nevertheless, great playing. Seems like a Nice guy
crashtestdrummie-NL No offense but I did not work hard for 29yrs if being a professional to be defined as playing ‘gospel chops’ .. please keep in mind that this is a ‘DRUM VIDEO’ which means that you will most likely hear a lot of fills and as well an example of one’s facility around the kit. Hopefully that helps give you a better perspective of the intent here
Bro......he played with snarky puppy and now has Ghost note......you need to know what gospel chops are before using the word haphazardly. Over half the gospel drummers can't do this.
