Yikes. This is the best drum solo I have ever heard. I'm not exaggerating. First time I've ever listened to a drum solo more than once... Amazing player Mr. Sput!
This guy is king of texture...he applies it so well.
Can you imagine being 1/100th as good at anything as he is at the drums... man is in the top 1% of 1% of 1% of 1%.... maybe 10 or so drummers in the entire world are as good as he is...
4:11 INCREADABLE!!! AMAZING!! (And what other words like amazing there are 🤣🤣)!!
Those overtones are soo tasty. Lots of diferent dynamics, dragged Grooves. Everything is in this solo.
That drum kit looks like a playground
Obviously the drum solo is tight.
I wish everyone would put the kit breakdown like that in the desc. All concerts, I want the hardware breakdown. Fantastic.
Watched Sput from our youth to now and he is not only a great musician but a great person. Definitely payed his dues and one of the greats in drums I know. Big ups Sput.
Tyrone Swoopes
T Swoopes do you know him from your dallas area or something
Love this guy, one of my favorite all time drummers
The man is a fucking genius, it's that simple.
The cleaness of his versatility creativness is beyond hypnotic. It condemns and inspires one to step into a different world musically. Dare I? You bet your sweet little ass, Nancy, I do.
This guys a genius
Dynamics.....feel.....composition.....musicality.....and fucking CHOPS all day.
the flow of his chops are slick af
Great creativity
What a great feeling !!!
Wow - this cat is a friggin' beast. Hope he releases an instructional video.
tout simplement superbe!!!
4:01- GENIUS
Inspirational!
Refreshing!
THE ONLY PARTS HE PROBABLY DID NOT HIT WAS THE STANDS, JAJAJAJA, DAMN THIS GUY IS A MONSTER PLAYING DRUMS
Just saw him playing percussion with Cory Henry and the funk apostles. I've got a video of him playing a solo on my channel, it was absolutely insane!!
I laughed my ass off when he called out Ralph Peterson
Even the snare buzz fits in wow🙂🙂🙂🙂 1:28
Saw him yesterday!
my goodness, tip top!!
Mestre robert
Is that evans hydraulic blue on his right big snare/floor kinda thing? Damn i want that sound
This guy obviously was deep into Dennis Chambers and Billy Cobham too. Very nice playing.
best so far....
Reminds me of Trilok Gurtu at times.
🙏🏿
snare!
Monster
Not a monster just a killer.
one of those drummers no one can teach how to do it
I wish Robert spurt searight has a UA-cam channel
anybody thought of snarky puppy gretle in the opening solo
+Arthur Bishop Haha, yes!!! First thing that came to mind.
+Matt Tonn same here
I love Robert Sput Searight his style and his tone are his main forte and his musicality
4:10 did he say ralph pedersen?
2:19 :D Boss
anyBODY hear that little tom ring out at 2:23??
Uh.. what's the time signature if there is any?
5/4 then 10
Whatever he wants it to be LOL:)
4:02 is he pointing to Larnell????
No, he's pointing at fellow Meinl Cymbal artist Ralph Peterson, who was also on the festival that year. He copped one of Ralph's things that he does where he puts his hand over the bell and makes it have a wah-wah sound. You can hear Ralph laugh and at 4:10 Sput says "Ralph Peterson." - Chris/Meinl
@@meinlcymbals yeah I caught that after, which makes sense. I saw Larnell do it in a video too, awesome effect!
Richard Bona's brother on drums.
and... the Groove??
bete anying -_-
If his pants hung an inch lower they'd catch his snare while playing.
2:28 why is he a pro if he can't play a simple beat
+Devon Costanza I hereby present to you the "most ignorant comment on this video" award
Blake Huebl I hereby present to you the "no sense of humor" award
Blake Huebl I second that motion with a node in agreement.
This guy is obviously extremely skilled. However I'm always wondering why pros like him always play, uh, so "abstract". Slow, fast, slow, a fill, silence. Why don't just improvise a real beat and show off what skills are in there? I'd prefer that to listening to this....
+Merthalophor I find it entertaining to play this way. It usually makes me alot more creative when i'm just being random. Slow, fast, explosive, quiet. Easy to get into it too, it's fun
+Merthalophor I think because that gets boring after some time. Playing more abstract allows the player to experiment more with feeling, vibe, dynamics etc. Just my 2 cents tho!
+Merthalophor check out Benny Greb!!!there is your answer
If you can count along to his playing it makes it more interesting. I didn't 'get' this kind of playing till I started using a click track religiously and then I realised how skilled these players are. playing off the metronome as opposed to with it.
I was playing in 5/4 and trying to demonstrate exploring all the rhythms I could fit into the simple pattern... At the end I was playing in 10... Sorry it wasn't simple but I kept getting all sorts of ideas that were coming to me
