    I have been asked by a few people to share the dimensions of my Cowboy/Dutch oven cooker. Well here are all the measurements you should need to build one for yourself. If you build one please share a video of how it turned out.
    Thanks Billy and Rhonda

    Simplicity. In a world of 'Overly Engineered' contraptions, your set-up slaps them in the face with a large hand of reality! Love it!

    I was saving up to purchase a complete set from Johnny and his wife passed away. I sure do miss them and wish I was able to have purchased a set back then. I do appreciate all the measurements and maybe will be able to fabricate my own set. Thank you.

      You are so welcome. I really hope that you build one because this one has brought us so many great meals. I was thinking of selling them but the price would just be to costly to make a quality product that no one would want to purchase it.

    What an awesome, yet simple design...my wife and I have just sold our home and are enjoying our new RV life! I learned campfire and cast iron cooking from my father who was on of the last true cowboys...I have got to get a rig like yours! Who knows maybe we will see each other at a campground in the future! Thanks for the video!!

      That is awesome! Rhonda and I can't wait to hit the road. So glad that you enjoyed the setup. It really works well for us. That is except the fire box. It has warped over time. Hoping to do a video of that and how we fixed it soon. Thanks so much for watching the video David and I know your Father would be proud that you are going to keep the tradition alive. Thanks again and hope to see you down the road.

    I'm big fan of this setup. I love the thought process and engineering that went into this. I love the repurpose of the storage bags. I love that you gave all the measurements. I think it's just the right size, especially if you could break down the fire box. I'm not sure how to do that, but... Nicely Done. Thanks for sharing. 😎. P. S. The quality of your videos are getting much better. 😎.

      Thank you so much for asking aj. Johnny Nix used to sell one that was built as heavy duty as mine but I don't think that he is selling them any more. The closest thing I could find was from Guide Gear cooking but it is not as heavily constructed as mine. If you know some one with welding/fabricating skills you could have them make one for you. I would really like to start making and selling these but between both of our real jobs and all the other things we have to do it is not possible at this time . The other factor is that if I would make them the cost for so few products would be really expensive and then there would be shipping cost. We really appreciate your loyalty and following us. If it is ever possible for us to start making this set up for a price that we think is reasonable for folks like yourself to purchase we will let you know. Thank you so Much Again for your interest and don't forget There Ain't No Lovin Like Dutch Oven Lovin.~Billy

    Is there need for a vent in the fire box to keep the fire where you want it? I know you have a drain.

    • @strongsadventures
      @strongsadventures  2 роки тому

      Hey thank you so much for your question. Well this is prototype #1 and as big as I built the firebox no there is not need for a vent. However if I can ever get some free time I would like to build a smaller firebox and yes I would think that it would have to have some form of ventilation in it. My main concern with it would be that I don't want embers to be able to fall out and on to the ground. Thank you so much for your question. We always ad these to future ideas that we have.

    My father in law has the exact same setup and I am looking to buy one for my husband. I asked my mother in law where they got it and she said all she could remember was a website or something called yall eat yet. Well everytime I goole that a food truck comes up..... Do you sale these or know what site she is referring to? Thanks so much

      @strongsadventures  Рік тому

      I do know the exact site you are referring to. The Mans name is Johnny Nix. He sold these at one time and he also had a show on the RFD Channel called Y'all eat Yet. We have a few videos of some of his recipes. His set up is where I came up with the Idea of mine. I think he had a few deaths in his family and no longer makes and sells this set up which is very unfortunate. Also unfortunately at this time with my wife and myself working full time jobs I can not build these setups to sell. This video is really in-depth and if you take it to any welding shop they should be able to make it for you. Not sure what it might cost because the price of the material fluctuates so much but I would think it might be around 1 thousand dollars for the material and labor if you have someone else build it. Probably half that if you can do it yourself. Maybe at some point I can make these for sell but at this time I just cant with my current job. Thanks so much for your question though.

    How well will it stand up to the elements if i leave it out alot??

    • @strongsadventures
      @strongsadventures  3 роки тому

      Well Carla we don't usually leave the whole setup out in the elements but we do leave the firebox outside. It seems to be holding up very well after 8 years or so. We do give it a new coat of paint every spring though. Thank you so much for your question. I hope I answered it ok.

    nice set up ! how about making one that is much taller like a table height so no need to bend way down ?

    • @strongsadventures
      @strongsadventures  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for stopping by Pete. Well the thing about that is then your hooks would be way up high in the air and these pots can be really heavy not to mention very hot. Now I do have a Dutch Oven table that I do use to cook on when I am not using the hook set up and that really helps with not having to bend over and I have an attachment that I can use one of the swing grills with it. I use it in quite a few of the videos that we have on the channel. Thanks again for watching.

    Where did you get the hooks from?

    • @strongsadventures
      @strongsadventures  3 роки тому

      Bill I am so sorry, we can't remember where we got the hooks from. It was somewhere in Colorado. Rhonda got them for me for my birthday more than 15 years ago. She thinks it was a Chuck Wagon supply place. I patterned all of my stuff from Johnny Nix, but unfortunately it looks like he is no longer making them either. All I can find now on internet searches is stuff that is way less inferior to what I have. I am really sorry that I couldn't help you but thank you so much for checking out our video and stopping by.

      @@strongsadventures NO PROBLEM!! I really appreciate your quick response... I agree, everything I've found online just doesn't measure up to what you have. Take good care of it... lol... you may never find another set like them. However, if you do, please let me know!

    Did you drill 1/4" holes in the base or just the 1" hole for the drain?

    • @strongsadventures
      @strongsadventures  4 роки тому

      Yes I also drilled 1/4" inch holes in the fire box along with the 1" large drain hole. The 1/4" holes help the water drain if for some reason I have forgotten to take out the main drain plug. Thank you for your question.

      I am really sorry but right now time just doesn't permit me to build another one. I did get the Idea from Johnny Nix a really great Dutch Oven/Cowboy cook. He has a web site and I know that he used to build and sell these. This is his web site shop.yalleatyet.com. I really am hoping to be able to build and sell these but it will be a few years yet. Thank you so much for your interest. Billy Strong.
